New Curve won't recognize battery :(

I just got a Curve 8520 in the mail. It didn't come with a battery or anything because it's a replacement. So, I take the battery (100% charge) out of my Pearl Flip, and put it in the Curve. The red LED goes on for a few seconds, then it shows a picture of a battery with a red slash through it. What's wrong? The number on the front of the battery is C-M2. It has a yellow label. What do i need to do to get my new phone to work? Also, my Desktop Manager (and PC) won't recognize it at all.
Thanks for your help!!

  • New Macbook won't recognize battery

    It's a 3 month old black Macbook.
99.5% of the time, it refuses to start up from the battery and will only start up if the power cord is attached. The battery charges erratically. Sometime an amber light, sometimes not.
I did the reset thing, removing the battery, holding down the on button for 5 sec. and replacing the battery. Didn't help.
I talked to Apple Care in Manilla (YES! All the way from Colorado!) They comclude a new battery was in order. Shipped it Sat. Got here Mon. Installed battery and charged it up. Same response from the Macbook.
I talked to Apple Care yesterday. Ran disk utility as the tech. suggested. Verified the hard drive. Corrected disk corruption. Reinstalled Leopard with archiving and retained settings. Charged up the battery. Did the calibration routine as posted. Let it rest. Charged it back up to 99%. KLet it rest Meanwhile, the System Profile says I don't have a battery installed and I don't have anything charging.
Just ran disk utility again. Hard drive needs repair again.
Is all this stuff even remotely battery related, or did Apple simply send me a lemon?

i truly think apple mighta sent a lemon, i don't see how repairing the HD would have anything to do with making the computer attempt to recognize the battery? al though i could be wrong (which i am most times :))
Ugh, call applecare again because if you get the same thing with a replacement they GOTTA send you a new battery!

  • New Mini won't recognize Apple USB modem

I hate being thick but I can't figure out why my new mini won't recognize the Apple USB modem I just purchased. The network preferences see the built-in Airport card, Bluetooth, Ethernet and Firewire, but I cannot get it to recognize any kind of modem (internal or external).
I figured it might be an uninstalled component (this is the Mini with built-in Airport) and looked through the OS X installation discs, but no. I can't find any drivers on the Apple site for the modem... has anyone had any success with this?
    Many thanks in advance,
    m.
    Mini / 1.42Ghz/airport   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Doh! Upgrading the system to 10.4.4 did the trick. I guess the right drivers for the USB modem weren't in the earlier version to be recognized.

  • My new computer won't recognize my printer (HP4500 Officejet Wireless) in the wireless or wired mode

MY new computer won't recognize my printer in either the connected or wireless mode.  When I hit "search for printers" it finds my neighbors wireless printer 100 yards away, and another net, but not mine sitting right beside it.

    Hi,
Have you installed its software abd drivers on your computer yet ? Please use the CD which came with the printer. By the way, what is your Officejet 4500 ? It must be G510something.

  • My new iWeb won't recognize my website, gives error message

UPDATE: After more reading, I found the only ".sites" file I have on my computer (Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2), and opened it in iWeb, which prompted me to choose a background for my site as if I were creating a site.  It looks like I'm missing this .sites file for the website I already made.
Is there a way to recreate this .sites file?  Does it exist on my remote server?
    Thanks for your help.
    Old news:
I upgraded to Snow Leopard, and my friend installed it for me.  He made a backup of all my files, but may not have used Time Machine.
Now iWeb won't recognize the website I created in iWeb.  My website's folder appears in my directory under "Sites", and all files appear to be there.
When I open iWeb, it says "Can't open file "~/Sites/[mywebsitename]/assets.http:--www.mywebsitename.com.plist" then immediately closes.
    Message was edited by: Bulletproof_tgr

If you're trying to open one of your published site files then that's why you're getting that message.  iWeb can't read html files.
Is the size of the Domain.sites2 file large indicating it contains your site and its components. A new domain file with just 1 page will be around  200 KB.  If the size of the file indicates that it is your domain file
    Try the following:
    close iWeb.
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    reboot.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If you can't find a backup copy of the Domain.sites2 file that existed before the installation of SL you'll have to recreate your site from scratch.  Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the recreation of the site.

  • Library Issue:  Existing External Drive - New Computer Won't Recognize

    Hi,
I've had an external drive library for quite some time. I just bought a new laptop, downloaded iTunes, pointed it to F:\Music where my library is and it won't recognize the files. There are a handful of songs that come with iTunes, so I did a Consolidate to see what would happen. They are visible and available from my F: drive but none of my "original" files. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Unless I am missing something, this is a real pain the tukus. I moved all of my mp3's to an external hard drive to free up space in my c drive. My Itunes cannot find it. Do I really have to move items into Itunes folder by folder??? Is there not a search for "music files" which moves it into the itunes folder, wherever that may be? I see references where the site seems to say that the physical file doesn't need to be in the Itunes folder but only references it. I have a ton of folders. Each individually??? I have moved compied pasted and created som many folders that say I tunes, I think I must have triplicates of all files. This is a mess. Why can't I get Itunes/Ipod to find the folder where I want my files to reside-off my C drive?

  • New Computer Won't Recognize my IPOD

I have an IPOD mini and just got a new computer. When I plug it in, the computer says "usb device not recognized". When I look it up it says that there is no driver for the device. It still works fine on my old machine (a slower usb 1.1).

You may want to try these steps, Jacob, after you've installed and run the iPod Updater and your computer still won't recognize the iPod:
First, make hidden folders visible. Open My Computer and choose Tools/Folder Options/View tab. Click on 'Show hidden files and folders' and click OK.
In the Add New Hardware Wizard, have it search in C:\windows\inf for usbstor.inf. This file is required for windows to properly configure the driver. If Windows finds the driver there, you're done.
If Windows does not find the proper driver there, copy usbstor.sys from C:\windows\servicepack\i386 to C:\windows\system32\drivers.
If you can't find the usbstor.inf file on your system, you can get it here: usbstor.inf
After copying the usbstor.inf driver file to C:\Windows\inf, right-click on My Computer and choose ‘Manage.'
Click on the button labeled 'Device Manager.'
Click to open the list under 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers.'
Right click on any mass storage devices with the exclamation icon next to them and select 'Update Driver.'
Check the option 'Install from a list or a specific location' and then click to continue.
Check next to 'Include this location in the search' and enter 'C:\windows\inf'.
Click on 'Next' and follow the steps to complete the driver installation wizard.

  • New iMac won't recognize Motorola iMac (both on 10.5.5) Migration Assistant

I just brought home a new Intel iMac, and tried to transfer data from my old iMac. Both the old and new Macs are running sys. 10.5.5. I have followed all instructions in Migration Assistant, but after I restart my 1.8 GHZ Power PC G5 (holding down T button), the new iMac thinks it's still starting up. I see the Firewire symbol on my old Mac's screen, but the new one doesn't recognize that the old one has restarted. In case I had a defective Firewire cable, I changed it out, but no luck. Any ideas, anyone?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions:
Sometimes it's a timing thing. First try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable while both machines are running.
If that does not help, start the old machine in Target mode with FW cable connected but don't start second machine until first is fully booted in Target mode, or if they are already connected and running, reboot the new Machine (same thing).
Lastly, I am not sure you can migrate from a PPC to an Intel, but I may be wrong there, never having tried it.
What does Motorola have to do with this? Just curious. I didn't think they make iMacs.

  • BB Curve tried 2 new batteries won't charge - battery icon flashes yellow for few seconds then shows a black plug

    BB Curve 9360. Please help.
My 6 month old battery stopped taking a charge.  Had left to charge overnight from the mains and phone was dead in morning.  Wouldn't turn on or take a charge.
Had a spare battery from before and tried this.  Charged to 25% and then showed battery icon with black plug and wouldn't take any more.  If unplug and re-plug, shows yellow flash as if charging for a few seconds and then shows black plug.  25% charge runs down very quickly.
Bought a new battery.  Exactly same experience. Sometimes gets between 5 - 25% charge but mostly is completely dead and not enough power to get beyond red flashing indicator.
Tried on and off.  Tried taking out battery (many times!).  Tried taking battery out while charging, waiting 30 seconds and then replacing battery (many times).  Tried 3 other chargers, both from mains and from USB.
Have left it plugged in for hours even when showing black plug or just empty red battery - nothing.  Just dies completely and hard to get enough power to get started again.
Left it unplugged and without battery for 2 days.  Plugged into mains, got yellow flash and then black plug.  Every time got black plug would unplug and re-plug to get yellow flashing back.  Got it to 80% that time.  But now gone back to only reaches 5% or won't take a charge and just red batterys sometimes with black plug or just empty, red flashing indicator.
Plugged into BB desktop manager to back up and checked for software updates.  No updates available.
Only thing I can think is mini USB slot on BB is broken and need a new phone.  Any ideas of anything else to try before bite the bullet???  Thank you!!

  • 2009 15" MacBook Pro won't recognize battery

A little history: I had an '09 MacBook Pro 13" and it was stolen from my hotel. Long story short, I was pretty much S.O.L. So, I decided to buy a new mac. After deciding against a new one ( I need the disk drive) I found a good one on eBay. Enter my 2009 15" MacBook Pro 3.06 Ghz/anti glare screen (very pleased with it).... EXCEPT, I can't charge it. Originially, there was a black "X" where the battery percentage is supposed to be. However, after resetting the SMC there is nothing where my percentage should be, no picture of a battery, no "X", just..nothing. So, I come here for the vast knowledge of you good people, hoping that yall may be of some assistance.

Well, I made the trip to the Apple store. After taking my mac behind closed doors for around 5 min, the "genius" came back and said my problem is the logic board, $310 fix. He also mentioned that when they send it in the technicians may or may not replace my logic board due to the fact that the previous owner has done some under the hood "tinkering". So, basically, I could be out $310 just for them to tell me they won't fix it
A few questions for the community:
Wouldn't I have other issues if my logic board was bad?
They didn't mention anything about my battery, could I ask apple to replace the battery to try that fix before assuming the previous owners tinkering wrecked the logic board?
Should I try to sell it and go for a new MBP?

  • Phone won't recognize battery

My blackberry 8100 started sporadically not recognizing the battery (no battery symbol) a few months ago. I could get it to come back by taking the battery in and out, which after a while it would work again. This happened several times, but recently I could not get it to recognize the battery again like before. I got a new battery to see if that was the problem, but it does not seem to be a battery issue since it is still doing the same thing… It did come back for a short period of time with the new battery then just out of the blue it has gone out again and no matter how many times I take it in and out, it will not recognize the battery. Is there anything else I can try?

Oh dear, yes that makes a difference. RIM is working on releasing a MAC version of the full DTM package, but I'm not sure it's out yet...you can keep up with that here:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/mac.jsp
What this leaves you with is only the OTA update method...
KB15633 Request a wireless BlackBerry Device Software update using a BlackBerry smartphone
BUT -- the wireless update method may not backup and restore your data...which would be tragic. If you can get the PocketMac software to work, it may do that for you pre-update (and restore after)...but I'm not at all conversant on MAC/BB integration. But, there is an entire section of this forum dedicated to that:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board?board.id=blackberryformac

  • Won't Recognize Battery

I have a blackberry curve 8310 and it has not been used for a little while.  I just recently decided that I wanted to use it again however when I plugged it in i am getting a symbol of a battery with a red slash through it??? It has now been plugged in for a few hours but nothing has changed, does anyone know what it could be or what I need to do to be able to use it???

Did you do it as I described? For a deeply drained battery, one day may not be enough.

    Yes.
    wps2000 wrote:

Perhaps a new battery. BUT, if the device and the battery is completely drained, you'll likely see the same "no battery" symbol yet again and need to repeat this process. I have.

  • TS1591 My iPhone 5 was originally backed up to another computer (that is now dead) and my new computer won't recognize it.  So how do I get the new computer to recognize it?

I'm trying to back-up my iPhone to iTunes, but when the phone is plugged in it does not register as a device in iTunes.
The phone is receiving a charge from the computer.
All of my software is up to date.
I am using a computer other than the one I last backed the phone up with (my old laptop crashed, now I'm working off of my new iMac).
How do I get the computer to recognize the phone so I can do a back-up?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone.  Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos, etc) , your contacts and your calendars.  So do NOT sync yet.  This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data.  Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync.  They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.
