New Daylight Savings Not Patched by 10.4.6 In All Areas!

I came across this on MacOSXHints.com and would like to pass it on to anyone here who isn't aware that the 10.4.6 update which patched the DST to the new values, only did it in certain geographic regions, most likely due to political waffling on the subject.
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070128185822710
The link describes how you can check to see if your timezone and area is patched, or if it is not. It also tells you how to fix it.
My particular timezone and area was not updated by 10.4.6 when I checked.
I followed the instructions as posted and now my iMac will enter the new daylight savings time with the rest of the world.

  • Update for the new Daylight Savings Time on March 11, 2007

Is there and update for the new Daylight Savings Time on March 11, 2007. the government changed it for this year. iCal won't let you modify the event.

    Macspacedog,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
As you have noticed, you cannot modify a subscribed calendar.
Since your system has been updated to 10.4.8 it will recognize the change, but the current Holiday Calendar available through Apple-Mac OS X-iCal-Library has not yet been updated to reflect the change.
If you want to subscribe to a different calendar, it appears that the iCalShare Holiday Calendar has been properly updated to reflect the correct Daylight Savings time.

Beautiful part of the world! I have under Date and Time in System Preference marked as such
Date and Time    South Asia (have set automatically unticked)
Then Time Zone set for Australian Eastern Daylight saving time
Melbourne - Australia    (I'm in Ballarat)
With set time automatically up the top unticked
They are the settings I have always used and my computers have always reverted to and from Daylight savings (except of course I'm in Queensland, Then I have to reset my location and remember  to set it back.
Other than that if may come down to trashing your pref file for date and time.
    Good Luck

  • Solaris 10 x86 daylight savings time patch failes

Hello! I'm having trouble getting my solaris box to recognize the new timezone change. I've installed patches 122033-04 and 121208-03 as you can see here:

SunOS icarus 5.10 Generic_118844-26 i86pc i386 i86pAfter the reboot, the time from the date command jumped forward one hour, but the timezone still shows "CDT", not "CST" for central time.
This problem also seems to affect time calculations in my java version "1.5.0_06" environment.
Does anyone have an idea what could be happening? Thanks for any help.
    Joe Gonzalez

    Hi Celerius,
I thought that Central Daylight Time would be the correct timezone since DST began last Sunday? CST is the winter timezone.
What might be impacting your java time calculations is a problem which we noticed with java 1.5.0_06, where there is an issue with time zones being incorrectly mapped. We found that the use of 1.5.0_04 was more stable. Maybe you can try that on your test platform to see if it helps.
    Cheers.

  • New Daylight Savings Time Issue

OK, here is my question. I live in both the "dark world of Microsoft" and the light and wonderful world of Apple. I have to face the issue of Day Light savings Time NO GO with Windows, but what about Apple. Is this set so it will automatically re-set? Has a download come through that changes this already and I do not know it or is this latest version of OS X already fixed for this. Just want to k now as a newer user.

  • New Daylight Savings time issue - still occuring a year later

Last year, my iPod classic did NOT update for the new US DST change. It of course was fixed my next sync, but I waited till the battery ran down (2 1/2 weeks LATER.) Why should I (or any other iPod classic user) be stuck waiting till its synced to get this fixed? The iPod does have a calendar feature in there. (Is it that hard for them to adjust the DST code?)
The problem occurred again this year. (I don't recall since I synced around the right date for the fall DST ending timeframe.)
Does the 2008 model still have this problem or did they at least fix it in the newer models?

  • Will Business Connector 4.6 be affected by new  Daylight savings changes

What are the implications for business connector 4.6, running java 1.3.1? does BC utilize the java timestamp function?

    Hi Rodney,

  • Daylight Savings Time patch for Java

This DST patch for java has me totally confused. I downloaded and installed tzupdater2006p, which according to the README it was suppose to cover 1.3.1_18 through 1.4 . All went well until I found one the servers, a Solaris 8 one, running 1.3.1_01. I've been searching for a patch for that but can't seem to find one. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

No that looks like the earliest it goes to according to the what it lists. I just did this the other day in support of some vendors application software that we use. If you have a paying account with Sun, perhaps you can open a contact with them.
But here's a caveat ... after I had applied that patch to my Java, the vendor told me that they won't support it - that is, they did not test using it, and so recommended upgrading to 1.4.2_12. You might want to explore that possibility on your side too.

  • HELP - Daylight Savings not observed in INDIANA

AFter the time change last weekend, I noticed that my computer was an hour early. I looked into my date and time function and realized that I had myself set to Chicago as my nearest city. Okay, so I changed to Indianapolis hoping this would fix the problem. This corrected the time readout on the clock but not the times of events on my calendar. I suspect this is because I entered these times based on Chicago DST and now we've changed to Eastern Time. I can deal with that. My question is, does anyone in Indiana or Arizona know if my calendar will be okay come April when we DONT change again?? I can change the few errors that I have in there now, but I don't want to get the calendar full of events only to have a problem again in April. I can't seem to find a function for setting my clock to Indiana time where we do not change our clocks.

Why don't you try it out for yourself. Download the LR4 trial and see if it works properly for your circumstances using a test library. Obviously, be sure to you don't upgrade your only copy of your LR3 library in the process.

  • Daylight Savings Australia - Patch/Update for 10.3.9 ?

  • In Tools/Account Settings/Disk Space I have changed the setting to "To save disk space do not download messages larger than 1000KB", but all are truncated.

This occurred a few months ago when I changed the Disk Space setting to "To save disk space do not download messages larger than 1000KB".
Since then Thunderbird has truncated every message I've received no matter what the size.
Not your fault, but made much more annoying because my server, Telstra (Australia) does not let me read more than two or three messages at a time without a delay, whereas if messages under 1000KB appear in my inbox automatically I do not have this problem.
Would really appreciate a solution, as when I've been away from my emails I can have a number accumulate and it wastes valuable work time waiting to download them.
    thanks, Wendy

    hi Matt, or someone else
Only rarely do I get an email larger than 1000kb. But not matter how small the email, even if only a few kb, Thunderbird truncates every single one, and after I have "untruncated" a few emails, the server refuses to let me untruncate any more for a few minutes. I have used the Thunderbird Disk Save tool for years previously with no problems, and I think this happened when I changed it from 500 to 1000kb a few weeks ago (may have been due to a Mozilla update). I truncate large files because I pay $45/month for 4GB of usage, with absolutely no option to Telstra because I live in the bush in Queensland and Telstra wireless is our only choice for broadband. I use Windows Security Essentials and don't know how to turn off email scanning in it if indeed it does scan my emails (have always assumed it does, but can't find a way to see if it is). In any case I wouldn't want to have this feature off permanently. This problem with truncating all emails has occurred after I started to use Windows Security Essentials. Any more targetted thoughts please to what I've explained above.

  • Daylight Savings Time for the USA

I am trying to add a new entry for the new daylight savings time change implemented in the United States in a 4.6C system.  I am trying to make the change per SAP note 919538.
The problem is when I go into transaction STZBC, and try to add a new entry for the USA, after I input what was stated in the SAP note and try to save the new entry, I receive an error "Choose the key from the allowed name space".
How have others implemented this change?  I am unsure of modifying the entry that is there already for the USA since the sap note says to add a new entry.
    Regards,
    Doug Slupski

    Hi Doug
Isn't this message informational only?? It does not show as an Error. If you hit Enter a couple of times, it should go thru...
I am not sure if it will wipe out the previous entry under the Key "USA"from the table.
Make a note of the previous values before u hit enter.  After you have made the change, check if it overwrote that value.
If not, then you should be fine..If yes, chnage the value under USA to he original values and open up an OSS message.
    Hope that helps..
    Thanks

  • Access policy issues and daylight savings

I have the WRVS4400N. I have purchased a few Linksys routers in the past and have been happy with their operation. The wireless access however, was mediocre until I purchased this model. This model has great a great wireless connection. I like the fact that I can make many changes to the settings on the router without having to reboot the router. The performance of this router in combination with the cable modem has been excellent. It far outperforms the equipment that it replaced. I will normally pick a linksys product over another brand.
I am having 2 intermittent issues that are really causing me grief and an additional couple of annoying issues. I need help in fixing these issues. I have confirmed that I have the latest firmware version.
    1) Some computers do not have connection to the internet. As if the security policy is confused about the time or connection. I really think this is a security policy issue, but I will let you decide.
    2) There are some computers that I allow a 24/7 connection to the internet. For the rest I don’t want them to have access between the hours of 12a-6a. I have found that the connection doesn’t always shut-off. I have kids and do not want them to have access during those hours. I never had problems with my previous linksys router.
    3) I am unable to set an access policy that spans the 5 min between 11:55p and 12a. In my previous linksys router I could.
    4) The new daylight savings schedule is not part of my current firmware. This really threw off my security policies.
I have found that if I reboot or if I simply goto the security policy screen and click on save settings it seems to correct itself. But, I shouldn’t have to babysit it to make sure that it’s working correctly. When I am out of town I need to know that my security policies will continue to work while I am away.
    Here’s my set up:
    1) I have a linksys cable modem that connects me to the internet through my cable provider.
    2) I have the linksys wireless (WRVS4400N) router that connects to the cable modem.
    3) I have a 3Com Superstack II switch as the backbone of my network which connects to the router.
    4) I have several devices connected to this router: computers, xbox, vonage phone line.

This is EXACTLY what my router is doing...
    2) Access restrictions do not work, PERIOD...."ALLOW" will disable internet access for the entire subnet (regardless of the rule), and "DENY" will prevent uploading of file attachments to hotmail, myspace, facebook etc....for every computer on the subnet.
