New DEV Client

Hi, We have added a 2nd DEV R3 Client to our BI Environment. I would like all of the rules/transformations/etc that exist in the current DEV Client to be copied over to the New DEV CLient.
What's the easiest way to accomplish this?
If there's no easy way to do this how do I do it manually?

Hi Ken,
If the changes are captured in the transport, use txn code SCC1 to captured those changes through the transport to this (new) client.

We did a client copy from Prod to Dev. Now the HR data is in Dev client. Dev client use to be the playground for our IT staffs to do development and testing with SAP_ALL access.
Do you think it is a risk and we should remove the SAP_ALL from IT staffs?

If you think k in the near future some of your processes will be moved to production and you r not 100% live on the producton system at present than no need to deleate the data only deleate the data related to the salaries like IT- 0008, 0014, 0015, 0045 etc payroll infotypes data because all this is a sensitive and confidential information.
This is so because in near future you need to provide some test cases or test data to user. Or user have to create the new one.

Creating a new DEV system with the QAS configuration

Hi there,
We're planning to have a contingency server and then, a new server has been bought and will be a new DEV system.
We would like to have a copy of our QAS system (but only configuration) so that we can create the DEV system.
What could be a good plan for that?!
I thought exporting the QAS client and after restoring the backup of DEV system into the new server, importing the QAS client.
Is there any other idea?!

You can install the new system refresh with Dev data and import the custom settings of QAS.
I hope already whatever is in QAS should be also in DEV in fact more than QAS data.

Pointing BW DEV Client to a another client in ECC

Hi Folks,
I have a questions on BW & Basis.
We are having multiple clients in Ecc Development
ECC DEV i.e DE0 100 200 300.
Our BW Client is pointing to ECC DEV 200.
Now to ensure data integrity, We want to point the BW Client to DEV 300.
DEV 300 has only conversions. And the Data in 300 is more accurate.
And ofcourse, delete the previous master data and transactional data in BW and do the dataloads again in BW.
Can you advise:
If this will affect the present development happening in BW. Please note BW its the same client, but pointing to a different client in ECC within the Development Environment.

We are using ECC 200 for BW Extractions. Now BW Dev is pointing to ECC 200 Datasources. But the chart of accounts is completly messed up. Refereshing the data in 200 from 300 will not help as the Chart of Accounts and other issues.
So We want another client copy of ECC 200 to ECC 300.
And the functional team wants to do conversions in this new client.
Our concern, is
Can we change the pointer of BW DEV to this new ECC Client 300.
If Yes, will this effect my current development happending in BW.
Our Development is mostly happending on the reporting side. We completed the Desing of the BW Backend.

How to handle multiple DEV clients in CHARM

Experts:
We have many DEV clients in our ECC landscape.
Some customizing needs to be imported into all DEV clients.
In order to use CHARM to do above import into different DEV clients, I want to define some logical components with only
2 systems, i.e. source DEV client and target DEV client (e.g. DEV100->DEV200). Then link this logical component to a
project.
In this way we will define many projects (logical componets, maintenance cycles) depending on how path combinations existing on the STMS setup.
Could you help verify whether this will work as expected? Because I did not configure 2 system tp for CHARM before therefore I am not sure.

IF the other clients should just be synchronized with custo done in the first one then the lines above will help you.
Important fact "A Solman Project can have more than a logical component."
So for example in your case if you are trying to update DEV 200 with DEV 100 when importing TR to quality system (200 must be a kind of reference client for you),
you ll simply have to declare a Solman Project containing the core logical component (for ex: DEV 100 -> QUAL 100 -> PRD 100) AND another one that ll let you import in DEV 200 (DEV 100 -> DEV 200).
In your generated tasklist you'll then find DEV 200 under Target Systems node; like if it was a QUAL system AND you ll find tasks as "Import Transport Requests" available for DEV 200.
As a prerequesite you MUST declare DEV 200 in your logical component as a Target Role System and not as a Source Role System (like DEV 100) (Transaction SMSY). Otherwise Solman will understand that DEV 200 will be used only for creating and releasing TR and it will be considered like DEV 100

ACS 4.2.1: adding new AAA clients through odbc import

we have added the user defined vendor RADIUS_HUAWEI to our Cisco ACS 4.2.1 Windows Server.
Unfortunately there is a problem with importing network devices through odbc connection using the accountactions table with the action code 220.
The documentation tells us :

Business Content Installation in BI 7.0 (New Dev Box)

its my first assigment in BI 7.0 and we have a new Dev box for the BI 7.0
Now the thing is that i have identified which DS i would be working (0CO_OM_CCA_9)..the IC is 0CCA_C11
Can any body please guide me down the steps for installation of the objects and what special care do i need to take ..coz I want to purely develop the Data Model in BI7.0 format and not in BW 3.x..

SolMan and Dev client

Hello!
We are in the configuration phase now using SM4.0. Our SolMan-Prod is connected to the Dev client (Golden client) as target. The team is configuring using solar02 and accessing the IMG and completing the configuration document. Some team members access the Dev client directly and complete the configuration, My question is,
How do I restrict access to the Dev client directly by the team members?
The team members should have access to the Dev-IMG thro' SolMan only and not directly. That way there is better control in the configuration phase.

I have heared colleagues saying that it can be achieved by restricting access to SPRO in the DEV system.
But the RFC connection b/n SolMan & the Dev system should have full access.

Refresh BI PROD to QA; QA to become new DEV

Hi SAP gurus,
My company is planning to do some organizational changes in the BI landscape.
Currently, here is the BI landscape:
DEV --> QA --> PROD
The company is planning to remove DEV out of the picture. (Note: SAP told us on a recent OSS message that DEV contains inconsistent objects/data and is possibly corrupted and unusable.)
Anyway, QA will then be refreshed (homogeneous copy) from PROD data and afterwards, the 'refreshed' QA will be configured to be the new DEV.
So in the end we will only have DEV (old QA) and PROD in the landscape.
With the above scenario, what technical/functional factors should I consider before/during the refresh and before/during configuration of QA to be the new DEV? Are there OSS notes that I should be reading to avoid mistakes from happening?
Our BI systems are SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 running on AIX 5.3 and Oracle 11.2.0.2.0.

Hi Kris,
As I have seen the SAP landscapes all the systems(Dev, Quality and Prod) are more or less similar with modeling objects or development objects and major configuration changes. i.e. Background processes, database size, BIA connection, transaction data availability etc.
But now as you are going to make quality system as development first of all you will have to take care of all the refresh related activities and then you might think of changing the configuration and reduce unwanted resources.
As you have mentioned earlier that going forward you will have only two systems in your landscape Dev and Production which is bit dangerous from project development perspective. In general when we do some major enhancement over the existing implementation and transport it to quality system, we end up frequently with many failing transports due to missing objects or incorrect sequence. We identify these issues and get correct it in quality and then finally do the transport to production.
But as in your case you have only development and production it becomes very difficult to identify such issues and when you send any transport to production the failure chances are more. So I would suggest you to just think before you go ahead with two system landscape.

BI Dev client inactive & DSO activation problem

Hi SAP Experts,
Am facing some problems in DSO activation. Firstly the Business content DSO was not activating .So I had to activate the Datasources on the R/3. There were no errors in the job log but the DSO was still inactive. On trying to manually activate it , its stated that the BI Dev client was inactive. So I went to the Source Sytems tab, activated the BI client but it failed showing the following error messages:
1.EDI:Partner profile not available-> A partner profile could not be found with the following key:/IBDCLNT010/LS/
This involves the key fields of the table EDPP1: PARNUM.PARTYP
2.Entry in outbound table not found-> A partner profile could not be found with the following key:/IBDCLNT010/LS/RSRQST///
This involves the key fields of the table EDP13:RCVPRN,RCVPRN,RCVPFC
3.Entry in inbound table not found........LS/RSINFO :
4.Similar to error 3 :...../LS/RSSEND
5.Destination IBDCLNT010 has incorrect Unicode settings,adjust it to destination:
The unicode settings do not match the source systems.Conversion errors might occur during data transfer.Adjust the destination accordingly.
Has anybody seen this error log before. If so please do let me know your valuable suggestions.

Hi,
As of 1-4 error messages.
You must define in partner profiles (ts WE20) the message type RSRQST as outbound on BI side and inbound on R/3 side, the message types RSINFO, RSSEND as inbound on BI side and outbound on R/3 side.

Solution tried :
1) As no role wtih name LcrInstanceWriterLD was existing in the server ,hence created a new role with same name and assigned the LCR related action . Assigned the role to the user through which we are creating JCOs.
But we still getting the same error.

Hi Poonam!
Got to dig in the past a bit, I remember Users being able to create SLD object have to have certain permissions set in the J2EE UME. Simple Admin rights do not suffer, if I recall right.
Unfortunately I cannot go further in detail because this issue has been solved by a long gone collegue of mine.

Hi Jamuna,
Like already mentioned, maintain 2 logical components in SMSY with the correct systems, and add these logical components to your Project.
When in a Change Document (U.rgent or Normal Correction), the action 'Create Transport Request' is executed, a pop-up will be shown and people can select where they want to have the Transport created.
Of course, SolMan will always show the two options - Workbench or Customizing Transport - when creating the Transport Request. So people need to pay attention that there are only creating WRKB in the WRKB-client and CUSTO in the CUSTO-client. As far as I know, this cannot be limited technically in SolMan.
