New development in Flash Captivate and Content Management

My compay currently uses Serena Collage for Content
Management along with Macromedia Studio MX 2004 for web site
development. We have an upcoming e-learning project that we are
considering developing in Captivate and Flash. We are mandated that
all development be Section 508 compliant and e-learning must be
SCORM compliant as well.
Can I continue to use Collage to manage content developed
from Captivate and Flash or will I have to use a different product?
According to documentation Captivate SCORM and 508 compliant and is
Flash 508 compliant is this correct?
Please advise.

I am not familiar with Collage or its requirements, but Flash
MX 2004 is 508 compliant, I have had to make partial and full
compliant courses with it. That being said, it took us a decent
amount of time and effort.

Sorry I forgot to add this information to my previous post.
Please note that I am using RDBMS Authenticator in 8.1 SP2 with oracle 9.2.0
and the set up is very fine with no problem. Order of the Authenticator
changed with RDBMS Authenticator as the first one.

okay from reading posts it seems if I transfer my backed up info from my old comp to the new one and erase my dad's phone's back up i could reset my phone and it would transfer all my old data back onto the phone, be linked to the new computer and i could proceed. Where do i find the backed up info from my phone?

As a note, running with no anti-virus software is a very bad choice. I would try installing Microsoft security Essentials, [http://microsoft.com/security_essentials http://microsoft.com/security_essentials] to stay safe with a free but light weight anti-virus.

Adobe Muse is not a CMS, but you can publish adobe Muse site on Business catalyst, and Business catalyst is a CMS. You can integrate BC CMS features on your Muse site.

Edge animate and content management system

Since I'm having great difficulty getting this to work, I'm wondering if edge animate 2014.1 will work in an content management system? The previous version I was using created a _edgePreload.js which among other things, loaded the javascript files and had a path to those .js files that could be changed, which is how I managed to get about half working with my cms. Now that Edge has updated to v2014.1 the _edgePreload.js is no longer automatically generated as a separate file and when set to publish preload DOM as separate file, this preload.js does not have the same "paths" section. Also, publish settings will not let you use relative paths, Can anyone explain if and how edge animate 2014.1 can work in an content management system I would greatly appreciate it.

You can now modify the first parameter to "AdobeEdge.loadComposition" in the generated html page accordingly.
Say, you moved the edge generated js(_edge.js and/or _edgePreload.js) files to folder "myJSFiles", then do the following change:
Before Change: AdobeEdge.loadComposition('CompName', 'EDGE-107552393', { ..... }
After Change: AdobeEdge.loadComposition('myJSFiles/CompName', 'EDGE-107552393', { ..... }

Flash Player and color management

Anyone can explain how a Flash Player (ver. 9) handles color
managed JPEGs (tagged with sRGB) in a slideshow. I am getting
pretty significant shifts in color and cannot explain it why. When
the images are viewed in a color managed browser, all is fine and
correct. The moment I let them run in an swf object, all is messed
up.
Generally, I've read that FP is not color managed (I've heard
that 10 is, but the slideshow component currently wouldn't take
advantage of it probably anyways), but I am interested to learn how
does Flash treats images with sRGB (does it strip the profile,
disregards it altogether) and what supercedes what. Flash inability
to color manage ot browser's ability to manage anything running in
its window?

What I read in the spec is that FP10 only honors the color
profile if you turn the api ON in your SWF's. It's off by default.
At least that's how I read it. But I read through it pretty quick,
so I may have missed something.

I don't have the bandwidth(or the color-corrected monitors)
to dig into this one myself right now. What I'd suggest you do is
do some testing with the API in a sample FLA/SWF. IF you then think
the colorcorrection isn't doing what it's supposed to then open a
support case against Flash CS4 at
http://www.adobe.com/support/contact.
We'll get it investigated and see what we can find out. If you do
that please post the case number back here so I can follow up on

Unfortunately, I don't think it is possible to add columns to this particular window. I had a requirement to do this a while back in SBO 2005A SP1 and I ended up designing my own pick and pack window.

Apps built with Flex Builder 2 - 3 not compatible with new Flash Players and/or new browsers, FB4 OK

My applications built with Flex Builder 2 and 3 do not start in new versions of Flash Player and/or new browsers when run remotely. I have not been able to test all combinations of FP and browser versions but there is no problem with applications built with Flash Builder 4. Does anyone have info on this?

Flash Player) when you install Flex Builder 3 Beta 3 or Flash
Player? You can try manually installing it from <FB install

Using Sharepoint as an archival and document management

Hello,
I was asked by my manager to look for possible solutions to convert our archive paper file cabinets that are full of student records into digital format. We do not utilize sharepoint yet at the school but I was researching and found that sharepoint does a good
job in archiving and content management. The ultimate goal for us is:
1- to be able to scan the documents in the file cabinets and save them into folders on sharepoint. We want to be able to create a folder under a specific students' name and then scan all documents related to that student into that specific folder.
2- Give permission to specific staff members to access and search for docs by student name.
I wanted to ask if and how this is possible to achieve by Sharepoint knowing that we have an estimate of 120,0000 paper docs to scan.
I would much appreciate your help.

I know RoboHelp can use conditional tag to manage file
content. RoboSource control can do version control. Then what is
the difference between RoboHelp and Content Management system?

Well, the basic unit of information in RH is the topic. There
are features to modify a topic and to exclude it from the final
output. But you can't re-use part of a topic in another topic.
In a real CMS, you are writing building blocks from which the
output is generated. Talking about online help, you can have one
building block appear in a multitude of different topics. If you
change one block, the changes propagate through all topics using
this building block.
And don't get me startet abour robustness, reliability and
the ability to handle large projects...
RH has several features which emulate a CMS, but the basic
concept is completely different.

EP60 SR1 + KM problems - Content management not working

I have the above system installed and content management isn't working. It is installed on Windows 2003. The portal was installed and seems to me to be OK (SAP have another view - more later). Into this we installed KM. This doesn't work. When I carried out the post install checks "checking the KM Content iView" (page 48 of the install guide) I got the following error:

There are several more pages of "at com.sap....." messages but I suspect the clue is the "No repository manager" message. I logged an OSS message who reported that there were .ERR files in the deployment directories and that in the KM repositories there should be 19 repositories but "I could find very few". I was later told he could find only 3 repositories, but I still wasn't told which ones. I reprocessed the .ERR files succesfully. This had no effect. I then reprocessed all the par and ept files that you are asked to check in the post install processing (Page 49-50 of the install guide):

After this when I try to access "Content Admin -> KM Content" or "System Admin -> monitoring -> KM -> Component monitor" I get the following message

I don't have the portal in front of me at the moment, but I think that in the system admin message the "/" was replaced by "/runtime".
I mentioned earlier that SAP stated in their OSS message that the portal was installed incorrectly so we should reinstall. I am not convinced that this is the case. I feel this is fixable.
My next move will be to reprocess every .par and ept file I can find. Any help will be gratefully received.
