New Device: cannot set up email.

Hi,
I had a Blackberry Curve 8530 before and lost the device and bought a new one (same carrier, same phone number same type of phone). The old device had email set up on it no problem.
I immediately tried to set up new email (have not downloaded any apps yet) both by the wizard and email settings  and it takes me to a screen I don't recognize.  On the Top it says "Blackberry Internet Service" and is asking for a user name and password. I don't rmember setting this up on the old phone, but if I did, it seems as though it is recognizing this phone number as already having an account because there is no option to create an account. I have no idea what username or password it wants, nor do I know how to get that information. I cannot find a Blackberry Internet Service URL for cricket. and cricket is telling me they don't use user names. I don't know if this is a blackberry thing or cricket thing. Whatever the username is, it isn't an email, because when I type my email in it says "username is blank" The Picture is not a screenshot, but a pic I found on the internet that is exactly the screen that I'm talking about.

UPDATE: Found the Cricket BIS server for Cricket by randomly typing things into my browser that made sense. it's https://mycricket.blackberry.com/  Unfortunately it won't let me create a new account because it says I already have one (after entering PIN and  ESN/MEID) and to contact 1-800-cricket for help!!! HA!!! they have no clue what I'm talking about.
I tried to at least get the password so maybe I can figure out my username by trying different things, but though it says it is sent, it never reaches my device. Anyone happen to work for Cricket so I can tell these people where to look for my username??  ARRRGGGHHH!!!!!

  • Exchange 2010: New Mailboxes cannot receive external email, but internal works fine. Existing Mailboxes are working properly.

    Hello,
I can't seem to figure out what the problem is, but my new mailboxes cannot receive external email. The sender receives an NDR stating the following:
The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 No such user - psmtp (state 13).
Internally, the affected mailboxes can send and receive mail, and the mailboxes have no trouble sending mail out of the organization. I do not see an anti-spam solution installed on the exchange server, and I have confirmed that DNS resolved to the WAN IP
    of this server.
Can anyone help me? The message tracker didn't appear to have recorded the NDR's that it sent, but it's possible I didn't view the logs correctly.
    Thank you!

Is your Exchange server exposed to the Internet or do you have some
3rd-party device that does spam filtering? If you have something out
in front of Exchange that only periodically refreshes its cache of
valid SMTP addresses from the AD then you need to adjust the refresh
    rate.
That "550 No such user" isn't a status code that Exchange returned.

  • Cannot set up email or gmail

I have been given the curve 8900 by my brother it was locked to vodaphone and is now unlocked, when it comes to setting up email I only have the blackberry enterprise server option. I want the device to download email when attached to a wireless netwrok and so I would like to set up a pop3 email app - can this be done?
I also understand that there should be a gmail app that I can use as I also have a gmail account - but I seem to be going around in circles and most posts are discussing setting up data packages with their carrier.
I just want email when connected to WiFi - any ideas would be gratefully received.

It is inaccurate to compare the way BB's do email with the way others do it...rather, contrasting the different methods is a better approach. Others use an on-device email client. BB's do not have that...rather, they use BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service -- hosted at the carriers/RIM) as the intermediary between the BB and the various email services that you configure. You store, into BIS, your email credentials. BIS then can check for new stuff without generating any traffic to the BB (unless there is new stuff that needs to be delivered to the BB). Other devices, since they are an on-device email client, must generate traffic over the carrier network even for the act of checking for new email (even if there is nothing new). This is how BB's achieve, from the perspective of the BB, true PUSH email. And, for that enhanced functionality, you must subscribe to a data plan. Even if you are using WiFi as the transport path, you are still needing to use the carrier hosted BIS infrastructure...hence, the need even then to subscribe to the proper plan level.
That said, you might be able to use the add-on gmail client via WiFi only...I've never attempted just that, but I know it works over WiFi. For other email services, you'd have to investigate alternate methods for accessing them that does not use BIS. But, the native email app on BB's requires BIS.
It is unfortunate that your early assumptions about how BB's handle email turned out to be inaccurate. Hopefully your carrier will work with you to get you something that functions in the manner you desire.
    Good luck!

  • How do I add a new device to my existing email?

How do I add a new device to my email account?

You allowed someone that is not a family member to use your email address for their iTunes account?
If so, what on earth were you thinking? This person can get a free email address at a number of places - AOL, Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail to name a few.
You will not be able to use your email address for your iTunes account now that you allowed someone else to use it for their iTunes account.

    Good,  Glad 101 looks useful.
Part of the fun with any new computer is the 'finding out process'. Take your iTunes question for example.   There are two paths apart from Apple formal notes (if you can find them).   One is  Google.   In this case I Googled 'how to delete iTunes content' and as you would expect, up came a variety of answers. The point and the value is that as people have different needs, the variety of answers meet each.
Two is the search box to the top right of your page.   When you are in the communities forums you can ask there in a similar way to googling.   The advantage is that all answers are for Macs.   Odd though it seems, I prefer to go hunting with Google.
Now, I don't have an iPad or iPhone so unsyncing is a foreign exercise to me ...
but I just Googled 'How to Unsync iPad and iPhones from Windows and ... here are some of the answers.
How to Unsync Iphone and iPad from Windows - Google Search
Hope this helps you get to grips with your iMac.   It's a lovely machine; you did the right thing in buying it.   By the way, when you have a moment, do fill in your profile, particularly the items you have, their version numbers, RAM and so on.   When you ask questions that is the first place people look to get the basics .

  • Cannot set up email account on Bold 9900

I have upgraded from a Blackberry Bold 9000 to a 9900 and I find that my email accounts don't work. When I click on Options>Email Accounts to enable me to edit the POP and SMTP settings, nothing happens. Please, can anybody advise me how to do this?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support and to be sure that they have moved all of your account and services over to your new device.
    Good luck!

  • Tbird will not recognize password for new TWC account, which is active. So, cannot set up email

Trying to set up an existing email account on Tbird. It will not recognize my password. Well, TWC does. Why doesn't Tbird? How do I add this account?

Thunderbird does not "recognize" and email password. It provides the one you stored in it to the email server when asked for one. It would be the email server rejecting it.
If you are sure you have the correct password then it might be the format of your username or some other server setting that is incorrect.
Get a list of server settings from your provider and make sure they are correct in Thunderbird.
Pay attention to your username format. Some providers want just the username and others want the entire thing including the @provider.com.

  • Cannot set up email. duplicate pin, says "edge" rather than "EDGE"

    Hey guys,
I just bought a Blackberry 8320. When i tried to set up my email accounts it will not connect.
I called Rogers and they say the PIN on my phone is already under someone elses account (duplicate pin)
They also said that the network on the phone should show up as "EDGE" but right now its showing up as "edge" (some how the network is no recognizing the phone)
Can anyone help me set up my email?
    THANKS!
    MERRY XMAS!

You must contact whoever the prior owner is and have them contact the carrier on which they had the BB registered and get them to remove it from that carriers BIS system. Typically, the recipient (you) cannot give such authorization -- the carriers tend to look at such requests as stolen devices and such, so they won't typically do anything without the prior owners consent. If you can't find the prior owner and can't as well sweet talk your way into getting Rogers to help, then you will be SOL I suspect.

Indeed it should be showing up as caps EDGE. Lower case means that the BB sees their network, but is not properly registering to it. I suggest you try these steps:
    1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    2) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot.
I would also have advised you to resend the Service Books, but until you get your BIS account straightened out, that would probably be a useless attempt...
Good luck and let us know!

  • Error -6753 reading the device, cannot set up to extend network

I just purchased an Airport Express to try and extend my network signal, from a Netgear Dual Band router. I have tried for the second time to set it up, this time on my work laptop. It finds the unit, then say I must upgrade the firmware. Once I try that, it is reading the unit and I get an "Error -6753" and cannot go any farther. I am trying to manually set this up.
Thanks for any help. I just need stronger signal for my work laptop up in my office at home.

The AirPort Express can wirelessly extend a network that is provided by another Apple router.
So, the first obvious troubleshooting question here would be.....do you have another Apple router?
If yes, what is the model number of the device?
Are you still using Mountain Lion (10.8.2) as you indicate in your tagline?
