New Domain's MTA object missing in eDir -- What to do?!!

We are consolidating a sprawling GW system of 6000+ users spread across 52 PO's down to a more manageable system of just 10 PO's centrally located. We are running GW 8.0.3 hp2, moving from legacy NetWare 6.5 SP8 servers to new Windows 2008 servers (virtualized on ESXi 5). As we are building the new servers, we are creating the new Secondary Domains and Post Offices (one PO per Domain) in ConsoleOne.
One particular domain, however, has given us a fit. There was clearly some unknown error that occurred during its creation, and what I have now is a domain with an MTA that shows up in C1 in the GroupWise view, but not in the eDirectory Console view. I can neither delete the object from the GW view, nor create its counterpart in the eDir view. Ergo, I'm stuck -- so WTH do I do?
If I try to delete the MTA object from the GW view, I just end up with a Pending Operation that never clears. Trying to create the MTA object in eDir gives the following error:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8522/8...3a99714b_z.jpg
Trying to start the MTA service on the Windows host gives the following error:
http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8098/8...d4ef07b440.jpg
(The message behind the error dialog box just says "GWMTA: Unable to register with SNMP agent. SNMP for this agent is disabled.")

Thank you for sharing your efforts and their success.
Another option would have been to try grafting the MTA to eDir, though
given the oddities of how it happened, your solution was likely the
healthiest.
Have you checked your eDir health to make sure there isn't a problem
brewing there that will slow you down again?

  • GW7 - Unable to delete Domain & MTA objects after crash

Yes...I know there are similar threads already on the forums...but I'm still stuck :)
Had a server crash - which was running GW7 WebAccess & hosted a Domain (Domain_3 in our case). And naturally, this server was put together by a long gone consultant years ago - who left little documentation and no current backup (well, we thought we had one...but it didn't restore). So I was left to wing it on my own.
Rebuilt a server from scratch (NW 6.5 SP8). The server sits it's own tree and is in a DMZ off of a BorderManager server (multi-homed - and yes...life on the trailing edge of technology).
I was unable to delete or use the existing GW objects (Domain_3, MTA or WebAccess)...so I created a new domain (Domain_2) and reinstalled WebAccess and the MTA. I used the same IP addresses/ports as the original/crashed server.
This got us back on our feet and WebAccess seems to be working as expected.
I've since tried following various TIDS about grafting the legacy objects into another part of the tree, etc. Unfortunately, the grafting process likewise failed after seemingly creating the domain & MTA objects. An error message indicated that I (as admin) didn't have sufficient rights (hard to believe...). So now I have two Domain_3 objects (w/MTAs, etc.) in different parts of the tree - which are non-functional and un-delete-able (if that's a word).
I also managed to create another temporary domain object (Domain_9) in testing - which now won't allow me to delete it either (ugh)!
I also found numerous pending GW operations - including the deletes, modifies, etc.
Digging deeper - I have some stuck obituaries that are all related to the domain objects that I'm trying to get to disappear. Of course, I tried to free these stuck obituaries following various TIDs (which I've done in the past for other non-groupwise objects stuck in limbo) - but failed. I'm not sure if this is a cause, an effect, or just collateral damage...
So I'm 10 miles past frustration...and have obviously hosed this pretty well...
Any suggestions or guidance on where to focus my attention first?

That's how I ended up with a 2nd copy of Domain_3 :) I created a temporary container - and tried to graft Domain_3. It created a domain object and a MTA - before failing (the error said I had insufficient rights to complete the task). Naturally, I couldn't delete these new objects either once they were created I performed this action as "admin" - authenticated to both trees (the GW objects are actually in our production tree).

  • Why is it not possible to move a SCCM 2012 Server to a new Domain?

    Hello everybody,
I know it is not supported to move a SCCM 2012 Server to a new Domain. But I am still missing why it is not supported or possible....
I could not find anything that explained it in detail on the forums/internet. So when the question comes up in front of a customer it is always better to have a good argumentation...Can somebody describe the reasons why??
Thank you very much in advance!

    Have them call CSS then.
It's ultimately the result of the design of the product but not an explicit decision. To my knowledge, it relies on the domain name for certain things and this is explicitly embedded with no defined way to change this. Could it be changed? Probably.
But, that would take a lot of work and effort and is not something Microsoft has ever invested any time in.
The grass is green and the sky is blue. Knowing why doesn't change these.

  • How to reassign sysadmin role to accounts of a new domain once previous domain becomes unavilable?

    Hello,
While working in lab enviornment; I came across following issue. I would like to request please shed light upon as to how one can gain access back to SQL server; in order to log on using object explorer; to re-assign sysadmin role; to a new domain to which
underlying OS becomes member; once the OS losses connectivity to the previous domain it was member of.
" SQL server instance was installed configured with "Windows Authentication" for DomainA. a service account was created in DomainA. service account was assigned "Log on As a service" right through group policy, was setup with SPNs
    etc. SQL server started OK.
DomainA became unavailable. The server running SQL server database engine service removed from domainA. SQL Server database engine service disabled.
DomainB is created. A new service account was with "Log on As a service" right assigned, SPNs setup. Server hosting SQL server enrolled in DomainB. SQL Server database engine service re-assigned domain service account. SQL server started OK with
    new service account."
    Problem:
    1. Using object explorer, I can't log onto SQL server instance to further configure SQL server security, assign sysadmin role to certain groups form the new DomainB.
    2. Log on to SQL server instance using local server's 'administrator' account is denied log on.
    3. Log on to SQL server instance using DomainB's 'administrator' account is denied log on.
    4. Log on to SQL server instance using Object explorer; from designated service account is denied log on.
I even tried adding the service account to BuiltIn\Administrators local group using Restricted group; group policy feature, logged on to server using service account and attempted to log onto SQL server instance using service account credentails but it fails.
How do we recover from this?

    Hello,
Please follow this guide, for which you'll need a logon to the server which has local admin. Add your login in the new domain into the sysadmins once you connect to the instance locally.

  • How can I add a new domain to portal by writing a program

I have been studied portal for a while but I still dont know how to solve this problem. Actually, I need to provide an api for my partner's program which is running on the iplanet application server. Therefore I tried to write a servlet which would invoke the AddComponent class which is the core part of ipsadmin tool. If I write a standalone java application, it works fine but once I changed it to servlet and deployed to portal server it could not work properly.
Then, I tried to use Java JNI to add a domain to directory server directly but I can not find the webtopdomain this object in the schema. Therefore the second approache failed either. Please could any of you can help me or give me some insight? Thank you very much

Finally, I find a way to solve this problem although I still can not make it work by using a servlet to invoke ipsadmin or AddComponent class. The easiest way to solve this question is to access Ldap directly. I used ipsadmin to add a new domain and role first and then checked all their attributes in the Ldap. I wrote a program to insert the domain and role entry with the same attributes as using ipsadmin and it works just fine. I really can just add domain and role entry even though there are no webtopdomain and webtoprole objectclasee in the schema.

  • Having trouble setting new domain name in business catalyst

    Hello,
I'm having problems setting up my site to go live. Here's what I've done so far:
    1) built the site and pushed it live
    2) upgraded the site
    3) set up a GoDaddy domain name
    4) set up the servers on GoDaddy
    5) set up the associate account info on BC
    And then.... nothing.
I've then deleted the domain and tried to repeat the process, in case I missed something, but now I can't set up a new domaine and keep getting the error "Domain already exists. Please delete all records associated with this domain". What records? What does this even mean?
Can someone please walk me through the steps to get this site live?
    Thanks!
    Darin

    Hi Aish,
I'm still having no luck with the site. I've triple-checked and everything is correct on the GoDaddy end. I'm attaching a screenshot of with BC portal, so you can see where I'm at. I somehow ended up with duplicate domains and I have no idea which one to delete. Also, I can't seem to enter anything for the A records, C name records, etc. Is there anything at all that support can do to get this thing up and running? It's been close to a week since I upgraded the site. Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Darin

  • New Domain Controller does not show in our different site's Domain controller's Sites and Services

    Hi,
we have two sites in our AD environment. OMA site and NY site. we have three domain controllers in our OMA site and two domain controllers in our NY site. All our DCs are windows server 2008R2 except one in our OMA site that is 2003R2 the domain
    functional level is also 2003R2.
We decided to raise our functional level to 2008R2. I added a new domain controller in our OMA site and transferred all FESMOS from the DC that was running 2003R2 to this new domain controller.
the issue now is that our NY site does not make any connection with the new domain controller in OMA site. it does not even show it under sites and services. I have checked the DNS settings and everything. if you try to replicate the connections
from NY site it gives the following error: "The naming context is in the process of being removed or is not replicated from the specific server."
can anyone plz tell me why this is happening mt brain is just frozen at this moment and cant figure out why is this happening

Just noticed this replication issue has been going on for a while now but we never noticed until I added new DC. here is the error log for the NY site DC.
    Log Name:      Directory Service
    Source:        Microsoft-Windows-ActiveDirectory_DomainService
    Date:          1/4/2014 8:11:40 AM
    Event ID:      2042
    Task Category: Replication
    Level:         Error
    Keywords:      Classic
    User:          ANONYMOUS LOGON
    Computer:      NORDC1.vertrue.com
    Description:
It has been too long since this machine last replicated with the named source machine. The time between replications with this source has exceeded the tombstone lifetime. Replication has been stopped with this source.
The reason that replication is not allowed to continue is that the two DCs may contain lingering objects.  Objects that have been deleted and garbage collected from an Active Directory Domain Services partition but still exist in the writable partitions
of other DCs in the same domain, or read-only partitions of global catalog servers in other domains in the forest are known as "lingering objects".  If the local destination DC was allowed to replicate with the source DC, these potential lingering object
would be recreated in the local Active Directory Domain Services database.
    Time of last successful replication:
    2013-05-16 15:26:38
Invocation ID of source directory server:
    9236ac56-d046-4632-b072-acbe823c5f6c
    Name of source directory server:
    accde843-11b2-476c-9783-9b29252d0ba5._msdcs.vertrue.com
    Tombstone lifetime (days):
    90
    The replication operation has failed.
    User Action:
The action plan to recover from this error can be found at
    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=314282.
If both the source and destination DCs are Windows Server 2003 DCs, then install the support tools included on the installation CD.  To see which objects would be deleted without actually performing the deletion run "repadmin /removelingeringobjects
<Source DC> <Destination DC DSA GUID> <NC> /ADVISORY_MODE". The eventlogs on the source DC will enumerate all lingering objects.  To remove lingering objects from a source domain controller run "repadmin /removelingeringobjects <Source
    DC> <Destination DC DSA GUID> <NC>".
If either source or destination DC is a Windows 2000 Server DC, then more information on how to remove lingering objects on the source DC can be found at
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=314282 or from your Microsoft support personnel.
If you need Active Directory Domain Services replication to function immediately at all costs and don't have time to remove lingering objects, enable replication by setting the following registry key to a non-zero value:
    Registry Key:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters\Allow Replication With Divergent and Corrupt Partner
Replication errors between DCs sharing a common partition can prevent user and compter acounts, trust relationships, their passwords, security groups, security group memberships and other Active Directory Domain Services configuration data to vary between
DCs, affecting the ability to log on, find objects of interest and perform other critical operations. These inconsistencies are resolved once replication errors are resolved.  DCs that fail to inbound replicate deleted objects within tombstone lifetime
number of days will remain inconsistent until lingering objects are manually removed by an administrator from each local DC.  Additionally, replication may continue to be blocked after this registry key is set, depending on whether lingering objects are
    located immediately.
    Alternate User Action:
Force demote or reinstall the DC(s) that were disconnected.

  • After migrating a windows 7 machine using ADMT Group policy shows the the computer is from the new domain but user is from old domain

We have migrated machines using ADMT tool but we have found some window 7 machines Group policy issues.  We see that the computer GP is getting from the new domain but the users profile still has the old domain GP information.  Any help on
removing the old GP objects and forcing the new domain User policy would be great.  We have tried the basic troubleshooting gpupdate /force reboot etc.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Sorry for the delayed response.
First, please verify whether these domain users you mentioned belong to old domain or new domain.
If they belong to old domain the GP is right with no problem. If they belong to new, try following suggestions.
Please test these steps in one of the problematic computer. If it worked, then go on for others.
To avoid unexpected problems, please backup your register keys before following steps:
Open regedit.exe, and delete following keys:
HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft Key (looks like a folder).
    HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft Key.
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects Key.
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies key
    Exit the registry and restart.
    Note: HKLM = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE & HKCU = HKEY_CURRENT_USER

  • ORA-01031 (Insufficient Privileges) after moving server to new domain

    Hello SAP/Oracle experts,
We recently performed a 'lift & shift' to move our SAP test system (QAS) from our HQ to our hosting partner's data centre. Although SAP works fine, we've lost the ability to run database operations through DB13. We now receive ORA-01031 - Insufficient Privileges errors whenever we try anything through DB13.
Because moving the server involved changing the Windows domain to which it belonged, we created a trust relationship between old and new domains so that we didn't have to change the details of QASADM and SAPServiceQAS. We ran the usual oradbuser.sql and sapdba_role.sql scripts. We also removed and reassigned the ORA_QAS_DBA and ORA_QAS_OPER groups to the QASADM and SAPServiceQAS users. All of which seems to have made no difference and we still get ORA-01031 errors in DB13.
Even stranger though is the fact that at the Oracle level, user sys is able to log in 'as sysdba', whilst user system cannot. e.g.
sqlplus “sys/<password>@qas as sysdba” – Works.
sqlplus “sys/<password> as sysdba” – Works.
    sqlplus “/ as sysdba” – Doesn’t work
    sqlplus “system/<password>@qas as sysdba” – Doesn’t work.
    sqlplus “system/<password> as sysdba” – Doesn’t work.
This leads me to believe that the problem is not SAP-related (i.e. sapdba_role won't fix it!), but is more likely Oracle-related and perhaps down to the fact that ths system was built in one domain, but now resides in another. I guess the easiest thing to do would be to create QASADM and SAPServiceQAS accounts in the new domain and try that, but that's clutching at straws and doesn't explain why Oracle user sys works, whilst system doesn't.
Has anyone moved servers between domains and experienced similar problems?
Thanks in advance of any help,
    Arwel.

is the recommended procedure when moving SAP Systems (or the server where they installed on) from one Domain to the next one (at least if the user accounts are in the same domain as the Server).
You have following dependencies when installing in a domain:
    1. domain groups
    2. local groups containing domain groups and/or domain accounts
    3. Domain Accounts
    4. maybe domain groups are used in Access Control Lists of local Files / Directories
    5. User rights Assignment in registry
    6. as in Oracle Database internal users reflecting Operating System users.
In Windows Security Objects (ACLs of Files, Directories) a Windows Account is referenced by it's SID which is unique (you can have a look at those strings in Upper Keys of the Registry HKEY_USERS). This means that a Domain User XYZ in Domain A has a different SID than Domain User XYZ in Domain B. The same applies to Windows Groups.
As a result of this c:\documents and Settings\XYZ will not be for the use with the same name if you move the computer to a diferent domain.
Windows will create something like c:\documents and Settings\XYZ.NEW_DOMAIN. As a result of this all envrionment variables of XYZ in the old domain are not visible in the new domain, because they are stored in the users registry which resides in c:\documents and Settings\XYZ\ntuser.dat in the old domain and c:\documents and Settings\XYZ.NEW_DOMAIN\ntuser.dat in the new domain.
Too many things to do, to many possibilities you can make mistakes  - therefore --> homogenious system copy.
    regards
    Peter

  • Plan migration new domain.

    Hi Guys,
I am planning a stage migration from Domain_one to domain.two and an upgrade (New install) to exchange 2013. You will notice the underscore in Domain_one which is the reason for the migration
as we cannot install exchange 2013 (2007) with underscore in the domain.
I am hoping someone can review my plan overview and let me know if I am missing anything.
    Create new domain.two
    Create Trusted relationship between domains
    Add desktop to domain.two
Test communication from desktop to domain_one servers (Excluding Exchange)
    Install exchange domain.two
Setup exchange in domain_one to forward any mailbox that cannot be resolved on server to exchange server in domain.two
Use migration tool to migrate desktop to domain.two
Test Exchange in domain.two and migrated desktop access to domain_one
    Export / import mailbox.
    Migrate desktop in controlled process
    Migrate server to domain two.
Point inbound mail to exchange server domain.two
One of the question I have is how to create the access to server from domain.two to domain_one. I assume that I need to allow security in the format of domain.one\Security group.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
    Craig
    Craig

    Hi Craig,
About domain name, I would like to clarify the following thing:
    1. The domain name can contain Letters, numbers, or hyphens (-).
    2. The domain name should begin and end with a letter or a number.
What's more, I would like to verify if you do a staged Exchange migration.
Staged migration is used to migrate all the organization's mailboxes to Exchange Online.
Moreover, I recommend you perform a cross forest mailbox migration to a new Exchange 2013 Server that is installed in a new domain.
For more information, here is a blog for your reference.
    Exchange 2010 Cross-Forest Mailbox Moves

    Hope it helps.

  • Domains for Oracle object types

When I create a domain for a certain Oracle object type there is no way to create some kind of inheritance tree (and there is no discriminator support it seems). On the database level I have several object types that extend a certain base object type. I want to do the same at the BC4J level. But unfortunately this doesn't seem possible. Is there a work-around for it? I don't mind to write a little extra code, any hints or help are appreciated.
    Regards,
    Peter
    P.S.
It seems the object type / domain support in JDeveloper 9.0.3(.1) isn't quite up there with entities and view objects. It's not even possible to change an attribute name at the Java side using the domain dialog (it's only possible by manually editing the XML and Java files). Will JDeveloper 9.0.4 have broader support for object types / domains?

I've found a way to implement the inheritance myself, at least a start. I've noticed all custom domains for oracle object types have the static method "getCustomerDatumFactory". In this method (in the base domain class) normally an instance of the base type is returned. I've modified this method so that it returns instances of the different subtypes depending on the value of a certain column. To make this work I first have to edit the Java files of the subtypes and let them extend the base type instead of the Struct class. The factory method looks like this:
    public static CustomDatumFactory getCustomDatumFactory()
        if (fac == null)
          class facClass implements CustomDatumFactory
public CustomDatum create(Datum d, int sql_type_code) throws SQLException
              if (d != null)
                BaseType b = new BaseType(d);
                if ("subtype1".equals(b.getType())) b = new SubType1(d);
                else if ("subtype2".equals(p.getType())) b = new SubType2(d);
                else System.err.println("Unknown subtype: " + b.getType());
                return b;
              return null;
          fac = new facClass();
        return fac;
}I also tried to save several of the subtypes in the database in the attribute field (which is of the base type) using setAttribute, this seems to work out-of-the-box. It seems for now I only get this to work if the object type is saved in a column of a certain table, I can't get it to work (yet) for object type tables (see the other recent topic of mine).
Is this the correct way to implement what I want? Or is there a better way?

  • Have new domain and host need help publishing!

It has been a while since I last used iWeb. I have bought a new domain name to replace the old one and I have bought a host. I think I have it all typed in correctly and I hit test connection and it says it couldn't connect try again later. What am I missing? Any help would be so awesome!

ok i will type word for word what i have in my iWeb site publishing settings....
    publish to: FTP Server
    sitename: www.coolecreations.com
    email: my e-mail
    FTP SETTINGS:
    Server address: coolecreations.com
    username: my username
    password: my password
    directory/path: blank
    protocol:FTP   Port:21
    Website URL:
    http://www.coolecreations.com

  • Create new domain but cannot login

I'm using Directory Server 5.2, Messaging Server 5.2, IDA 45
I installed Messaging Server and I'm using domain itc.my, then I created several accounts under the new domain and it worked fine..I can login, sent and receive emails..then I decided to create a new domain, stud.itc.my using the command imadmin domain create...
    imadmin domain create -D serviceadmin -d stud.itc.my -H mailhost.itc.my -n itc.my -w xxxx
I managed to create the domain....then I add several new user accounts under the new domain using the IDA...when I try to login Messaging Server using the new accounts, it's give error message
    Invalid username or password
What steps did I miss to create a new domain?

for any domains other than the "default domain", your login must include the domain:
    userid@domain
    instead of
    userid

  • Objects Missing in Integration Builder Tree

After an Internal_Error while creating configuration objects in the Model Configurator (PI7.3) I am now missing objects in the Integration Builder object tree.
No Snd/Rcv Agreements, No Rcv Determinations, No Interface Determinations.
Have restarted J2EE, re-log in, cache refreshes, but still missing the objects.
I can fx search for older sender agreement and find/edit them, but it is not visible in the Object tree?
I can not create new objects, they are not available under Create Objects.
Any ideas what the trouble is?
    Stephan

Thanks, I appriciate all your friendly answers.
These buttons was the first thing I tried, and every other possible/impossible button or menu choice.
I thought that there perhaps was a new kind of object filter in the Integration Builder of PI 7.3?
Unfortunately it seems to be an internal error in the IB.
I do not see any of the objects in the object list of the Receiver Determination screen.
I can Seach for Sender Agreements and find/open/edit them.
But I get an INTERNAL_ERROR when doing a Where-Used search on a related Communication Channel.
It is also not related to my own computer/java version, oher people here have the same problem.
I have put in a message to SAP support, but as this is 'just' a Develoment System, the priority is not very high.
