New Droid MAXX won't activate

I've tried activating all over town and it keeps failing.  This is to replace an existing device. Is this a pervasive problem since they have just been released?  I can't seem to get any support.

I am having the same problem.  After terrible support after I went to purchase the phone (you would not believe how hard it was to get to be able to organize the ordering of $299 phone--spent at least 1.5 hours already on the phone trying to make sure the purchase was completed), now this. 
After following the procedure (backup contacts, switch off old phone, call 800# to activate new phone, turn on new phone) and activating 4-5 times with no success, I tried the online activation.  This said it was successful, but again tried activating 4-5 times with no success.  Error message varied between telling me to call the 800 number to activate and saying the signal was poor.
I went online and got chat support from a Verizon rep.  I was told by the rep I chatted with that I had to call in and speak with a specialized rep to activate my phone.  But, of course, they are not open because I live on the west coast and support ends early evening.  I am ready to return this phone and cancel my Verizon service, which I even upgraded when I bought the phone.  I am embarrassed to be a Verizon customer--the company should be ashamed of the way it has behaved throughout this process.  Final straw was the attitude of the rep who assisted via chat, kept finishing sentences with a "!" as though I should be excited to wait 8 hours to activate my phone.   APPALLING.

    I never like to hear our customers are having issues with their new devices. Let's get to the bottom of this. Did you remove and reinsert the Sim card? If not, please try that. Does the browser work? Have you successfully added a Gmail account on the device?

  • Anyone have trouble with Assurion relacement phones, I am on my third new DROID MAXX phone?

    I have been sent three new DROID MAXX phones from Assurion each has the same problem it goes into sleep mode when it feels like it I have tried everything and spoke to several Verizon techs who tried to help.Any advice would be appreciated.

    hit menu>settings>developer options and if you scroll down there should be an option to never sleep.

  • Droid Maxx Won't Forget WiFi Network

    Hey all,
    I just upgraded to a new Droid Maxx and I'm running into a frustrating problem.  I configured a wireless network at the office (a limited guest network) and connected to it just fine.  I then got connected to the full permission WiFi network and I decided to drop the guest network.  I went to drop the WiFi network from WiFi - Manage Networks - Forget and it worked.  Temporarily.  I came back a few minutes later and it had reconnected to that guest network (which requires a password) and that guest network appears in my list of networks when I go to Manage Networks.  I tried to Forget it again, which works, but once I lock the phone and come back a few minutes later, that network is back in my list of networks under Managed Networks.  The problem is that it keeps connecting to this network.  I've tried rebooting the phone and that doesn't help.  The really odd thing is that when I Forget the network from Manage Networks, it comes back complete with the password.  The only work-around I have found is to leave the network in my Manage Network list and change the password to something incorrect so it cannot connect.  However if I then Forget that network with the bad password, it comes back with the correct password.  My question is - what can I do to permanently remove that WiFi network from my Manage Networks list (short of a hard reset of the phone)?

    That's odd. All of my devices will forget a wifi network after I long press to get a dialog and choose "forget network".
    Try forgetting the network when you are in a different location and not in range of that wifi network. Reboot the phone afterwards and see if the wifi network remains gone from the saved list.

  • Can't use MotoCast on my new Droid Maxx

    I just upgraded from a Droid 4 to the Droid Maxx. I tried downloading the MotoCast app but it says it is not compatible with my phone. I am looking for a substitute. I want a super easy way to auto upload my photos to from my phone to computer. I know I can use Drive/Dropbox/cloud programs to transfer them to a folder on my computer, but not automatically. I have to go in, select all/new photos on my phone, and then hit upload. Does anyone know how I can streamline this process so it auto saves my phones pics on my computer whenever I am in range. I really really really miss that about motocast.

  • Droid Incredible Won't Activate

    I've been trying to switch my phone from a Droid 2 to a Droid Incredible while in Extended Network. When I go to call *228, a US cellular message comes up and then "Programming Unsuccessful". Now I don't have service on either of my phones. How do I go about this?

    Verizon Wireless phones won't activate in an extended coverage area. You need to go to a native Verizon Wireless coverage area to activate the phone.
    You might be able to activate it manually, but you would need the assistance of customer service on another phone or someone who is knowledgeable about the manual programming method. budone

  • Droid MAXX won't download MMS

    My Droid MAXX will not download MMS messages. After clicking "Download," I receive the following two messages in sequence: "Message has expired or not available." and "Couldn't download mesage (no subject)".  Does anyone know what might be the problem?  Thanks!

    Make sure your mobile data is on.  If you are on WiFi, as long as you didn't shut off mobile data first, it should cycle automatically to download the MMS, but it doesn't always work.

  • Help, new Droid 2, won't get 3g only 1x with flashing blue triangle

    This is my 4th Droid 2, I like the phone and only go this new one after my last one got wet and had to be replaced.
    I activated the new phone and it won't move off of the 1x (my old Droid 2 that is my desperation phone because it has some issues has 3g).
    I spent 1.5 hours talking to a tech. who suggested I send the phone back as defective.  I did and order a new one from another company.  The same thing is happening, I still make and receive calls, I have internet; what I don't have is 3g and no idea what the problem is.

    Talked to someone again today, still insist it is the phone.  I've had enough with Verizon, if I can return this phone I will quickly move to straight talk!!!!!!!!!!!  I am tired of the "up sale" on everything no matter what I call about.  I was basically told that if I don't buy the phone from Verizon, then I was on my own.
    After 10 years you would think they would try to help a loyal customer.

    I just bought a Droid Eris off of ebay with a clean ESN. I was able to successfully activate it online, but then I call *228 and it activates. Then I try to make an actual call and it tells me my "mobile number is either not active or invalid." Why?

    You might want to call vzw tech support on that one, just to make sure everything is in order.

  • New iPad 2 Won't Activate - No matter what

    Hello everyone.  I have a 64 GB iPad 2 wifi + 3G with iOS 6 purchased new from apple with apple care in July 2011.  The screen became distorted so I took it into the apple store and was told that the video cable was loose and I had my device exchanged for a brand new iPad 2.
    That evening, I could not activate the iPad no matter what I did. I reset it 3 times.  Used my wifi network and then another wifi network. I tried to plug it into iTunes. I even tried twice to force a reinstall of firmware/iOS. All of this has resulted in the same problem. I get an error message saying that the iPad could not be activated.
    I have called Verizon and had the old iPad deactivated and the MEID of the new device put onto the network. They were unable to figure out the activation issue and referred me to apple. I called apple care and they were unable to figure it out so I was referred back to the apple store. Yesterday I go to the apple store again and the genius, while very nice and sympathetic, could not figure it out. They did not have another iPad 2 in stock to exchange so I was told the issue would be escalated via an online process and now I'm sitting with a non-functioning iPad waiting for a phone call/e-mail.
    I'm very frustrated as I don't have an iPad. I return to work Monday for which the iPad is an integral part of my practice. I have spent $50 in parking already trying to get this fixed at the apple store. Does anybody have any thoughts or faced a similar problem?  Thanks in advance for your replies.

  • Droid X won't activate

    A couple of hours ago, my girlfriend tried sending me a few text messages, and none went through. I had Handcent installed, cleared it's cache, restarted, pulled battery, restarted, uninstalled Handcent, restarted, used the native SMS application to send txts to multiple persons (some on VZW, some not), nothing would be sent or received. Eventually got frustrated, and wipe my phone. Now it fails to activate, update or anything else. Anyone have any idea what's going on? I even logged on to VZW's website via my laptop, and it won't retrieve ANY information other than my name.

  • My new ipad 3 won't activate - AppleCare can't help... this is aweful.

    I'm connected through wifi, and it's stuck on a screen saying "Your iPad could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting your iPad to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes"... This has been constant for the last 12 hours.
    I connect it to iTunes and nothing happens.
    I've called AppleCare twice and it has been a nightmare. All they can tell me is "that's strange, keep trying I guess." and then they try to sell me some kind of warrenty, which would be pointless to purchase because I can't even use the iPad.
    Is there a software issue? Will I have to return/exchange it?

    Update: (Apple won't let me edit my original post)
    So after Apple agreed to replace the unit; I've found a solution that worked for us.  Here it is:
    The sim, antenna and ipad seem to have a communication error, so it has to have the firmware restored via iTunes.
    The pre-activation setting for sleep mode on the iPad is too short for the iTunes restore process.  So, you have to periodically swipe the screen to keep it from resetting while it is running the restore.  Every 30 secs is what I did, just to be safe.  If it resets, it will cancel the restore
    To get the iOS into restore mode, unplug the ipad from computer/power.  Power off the unit (hold down the hard power button until power off message appears and swipe to power off.)  While holding the HOME button, plug the iPad into the computer.  iTunes should give you the option to restore the unit.  Click restore; don't forget to periodically swipe the screen to keep the unit awake.  It should take about 10 minutes.
    If the process works, you should see either the carrier name in the top left (i.e. AT&T, Verizon) or "No Service" instead of "Searching."  At this point I was able to click through the activation process over wireless.
    Hope this works for everyone else.

  • Got my new phone in..turned my new phone off and i still cant get it to register its the new Droid Maxx

    so I turned off my old phone but the new one still wont register
    even though it is in a spot with full coverage

    Well, unless you made a backup BEFORE you hit the restore button, your data is gone.

  • New iPhone 4 won't activate Yahoo account

    I am having difficulty activating my Yahoo account on a new iPhone4. There is no trouble activating my .mac account. After typing in a user name and password in the Yahoo section and hitting Done, a window pops up stating Verification Required, log onto your Yahoo account at www.yahoo.com
    When I do this, still no activation of my Yahoo account on my iPhone. When returning to account info page, I notice that my password is always deleted. Now tried dozens of times with no luck. Any ideas out there?

  • Droid maxx won't send email over wifi

    My maxx has stopped sending email messages while connected to wifi.  Incoming messages work fine.

    Oh no! Sorry to hear that your device isn't sending emails. When did this start? Let's get you back up and running. Have you tried to remove the email account and then re-add it? What additional steps have you taken to try to get this working again? Keep us posted!
