New EA4500 will not connect to by wire to one of my desktops

The EA4500 would not connect to one of my desktops by way of wire. I replaced The wire hoping it was bad, but still no luck. Contacted Cisco support no help other than to say my 5 year computer must be The problem. I decided to let The EA4500 run over night to give me time to think about what to do. The next morning The wireless had dropped. I rebooted The router and The wireless worked for about an hour The The wireless dropped again. After rebooting 6 or 7 times in that one day I got a RMA and returned The product. I put may old WRT54GS back in place and everything is good again. I bought The EA4500 thinking it was time for an updated after 8 years of uses out of my old router. Did I make a mistake? Should I just get my money back on The EA4500? Does The EA4500 really have anything I need? Your thoughts please?

Hmmm it's possible that that hardware itself is the issue. For your problem, you can still try resetting and reconfiguring the router. If you used the setup cd initially when you set it up, try doing it manually this time. For the instructions to setup your router manually, you may refer to this links: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=3686, http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=3687. For wireless connection issue, you may optimize the wireless settings of the router as well like changing the channel to a specific channel(1,3,6,or 9) and set the security to WPA2 personal.

My brand new iphone5 will not connect to my home wifi even though it recognizes it. My ipad and my old iphone4s connect with no problem. Any thoughts?

Although your other devices connect okay, it would be worth resetting your router by switching if off for disconnecting it from mains power for 2 minutes and then switch it on again.
Good luck and do report back.

  • My new 5S will not connect to my home Wi fi can any one help?

My new 5S will not connect to my Wi fi- from EE. I have entered settings manually and tied every thing short of throwing the phone at the wall! The 4s was no problem.

settings - general - reset - reset network settings.
power cycle your router, unplug it from the wall outlet, wait a minutes and then power back up.

If you have connected to other wi-fi successfully, then your wi-fi should be working. Try power cycling the router. Disconnect it from power for about 30 seconds and then restart it. After it has come back, try connecting again.

  • Brand New C309g will not connect wirelessly with ANY wireless security options enabled

Printer will connect via wired ethernet. I can use the http utility.
Printer will connect via unsecured wireless connection.
Printer defaults to autoconfig (169.xxx)when connected  via WEP (both open and shared), will not connect with a manual IP address. Cannot access http utility.
Printer won't even autoconfig when connected via WPA-Personal - instead says "No connection found."
Printer is in the same uncluttered room as the router.
ALL OTHER wireless network devices work fine and keep up with security changes.
I have legacy devices on the network that make me want to run with WEP.
I've run the HP Network Diagnostic. It can access my router just fine. It cannot find the printer.
    Router is D-Link DIR-655.
I jump through the right hoops - refresh router, restore factory defaults on printer, etc. All other wireless network devices work fine.
I want to pull an "Office Space" on this brand-new printer - please save me from doing so!

Ooops, my mistake.  Thanks for pointing it out.
Another idea is to make sure the firmware is updated on the router.
Also, from the control panel of the printer: Setup > Network > Wireless Network Test.  It will self-test the printer radio.

  • My ipod shuffle is brand new and will not connect to itunes

my ipod shuffle will not connect to itunes and it is brand new and i have used other ipods on this computer.

When you take this one back, be sure to have your USB docking cable checked, to make sure it is not  the thing that is defective.
Also, make sure you have USB cable plug completely inserted into the headphones jack.  The fit is sometimes tighter than expected, especially when the shuffle is new.  This is apparently enough of an" issue" that Apple has a tech support doc about it

  • 80 GiG Brand New iPod Will Not Connect- Wants Drivers

I run Windows Vista. My new 80 GiG iPod will not connect, saying it needs drivers. I guess I'm ignorant, but I'm stumped. The drivers are supposed to be in the latest download of iTunes, but they never are found. I have reset, re-installed my iPod and iTunes until I'm blue in the face. The forums offer no real help except to refer to several articles by Apple that don't give me a clue.
    Help Please.

iPods use the standard Windows USB mass storage drivers.

  • New iPhone will not connect to iTunes Store. Not able to activate

I bought my iPhone 3 weeks ago from an AT&T store and use it everyday. It works fine. I bought one for my wife 2 days ago from the same AT&T store and it does not work. After spending 2 + hours on the phone with Apple level 1 and 2 support, the final diagnosis is a bad sim card. (Apple phone support was very good and very professional) They are in process of sending me a box to mail the iPhone in for service and I am confidant they will fix the problem. I am disappointed, however, the iPhone did not work out of the box and I now have to wait for service on a brand new iPhone.
Has anyone experienced the following problem?
When connected to iTunes, the iPhone is not able to connect to the iTunes store and I receive the following error message, "We could not complete your iTunes request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active." I was not able to activate it.
The iPhone screen itself shows the iTunes logo and the sync connector. iTunes does not give me the ability to activate the phone nor make any changes to it. iPhone shows up in the device listing, but that is it. There are no settings in iTunes for making changes or setting up the new phone.
When I plug my iPhone into the computer, everything works fine. The new iPhone does not. I tried everything Apple recommended including: Resetting the phone and deleting / reinstalling iTunes, but nothing worked. So, here I am waiting for service on a brand new iPhone that I have paid for and am paying for monthly service, but cannot use. Kind of stinks...
    Anyone have a similar problem?

    2 things
one they will overnight you the box and give you a overnight box to send to them (fedex)
two call them back they will also overnight you a free iPhone loaner for the next few days if you ask

same problem on iphone 4s.  Other people posting problems too.  Must be on Apples end.

  • New E4200 will not connect

I just connected my new E4200 router, it worked fine until it recommended updating, as soon as it connected to do this, the power light started blinking every second and it will no longer respond. Support has not been helpful. Any ideas?

This is unreal, this is without a doubt the hieght of incompetence.
I bought this defective router,e4200,about 3 weeks ago now.The first one arrived and didnt work.Spent over 6 hours dealign the the "tech support",from the useless location of india, where the phone connection was horrendous and worked nicely with the accent and un familarity with english of the "tech support person" to make it a complete waste of hours.
Then they give me the tel number to the philpines "tech support" location, which has only a mildy better phone connection, but a measureably better "tech support person".Hours later they have decided routed number 1 is dead.
So they send me out another. Here i am,recieved the replacement today, and trid to install it,only to have it behave exactly as the last one.
I make the mistake of calling "tech support" again, and end up havibng to answer the same half-buttucked uselss questions as the last time, and about to be "run thru the nescesary procedures" to determine the "problem" with router number 2.
Yay,another 6 hours of completely wasted effort about to take place.....
    No thank you.
I go out on the web and come across this thread and this other one,
    http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Cisco-Connect/E4200-Renew-IP-Address-Problem-firmware-1-0-02/td-p/...
both showing that the firmware for the e4200 is screwed up beyond use. That the router continually trys and fails to renew the ip adress.rendering the router completely inoperable, and if you listened to tech support and tried to update the firmware, leaving the firmware corrupted as it fails in the middle of the update.
Is cisco aware of this ? If they are they are NOT admitting it.In the meantime, they are selling this high end product in its defective state, and even worse, replacing it with another just as defective, creating a huge problem for those soon to never be thier customers again.
So, over 3 weeks, and over 8 hours now, dealing with a company that specializes in routers, that couldnt manage to turn out their top end product in a working condition. And is either unwiling to acknowledge the huge issue this is,of unaware of it.
So much for taking my home wireless this year,a  new tv,3 computers,a  new reader, and a new phone all now sitting collecting dust becuase cisco was inept in producing their product.Far as im concerned, there simply isnt a punishment large enough to bestow upon them........
For those of you at the blinking fast endlessly stage, its very likely your router is now "brinked"/coppurtped beyond your ability to fix,and will need to be replaced....
Its also very likely the next e4200 they send you will meet the same fate.
    Your screwed.
    Just like me.
Good luck,we are gonna need it.

  • The New iPad will not connect to my wi-fi

I bought The New iPad yesterday. I have iPad One next to it. One will connect to my wi-fi network, the other won't. The New iPad won't.
The problem is the password to the wi-fi network. TNiP seems to want a longer password. My password is 4 characters long (I do not want to hear a word about security and my password) and after I type it the submit button does not highlight unless I key in more characters.
Is there anything I can do?
    Cheers,

How do I change my router for the iPad?
And why has Apple set up the password to be longer than the other versions?

  • New ipad2 will not connect to itunes

I just purchased an ipad2.  I'm attempting to connect it to my itunes account.  I have an ipad which has connected to the account on the same computer with no problems.  I just updated iTunes to the latest 10.3 version.

After 2+ hours on phone with an Apple tech, he decided I have an iPad problem. Will return to Verizon today.  Not a good intro to the 2.  Love the original iPad, though, so will stay on it.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

  • New Modem will not connect

I received a new modem from Verizon today, and I can't get it to connect to the internet.  They said that my old modem (which I'm working with right now) was too old.
I've hooked up everything right, but I must be missing a few steps or something.
It's a D-link modem (wireless or wired).  I can get all the lights to come on (green) but I can't get my computer on the internet with it.  Here's the steps I've already taken:
    1. Disconnected the old modem, including all cords and cables
    2. connected the phone line to the modem
    3. Plugged in the router
    4. turned the router/modem on.
    5. Connected the Ethernet port to my computer
Do I need to call Verizon?

set the extreme to connect to the cable modem
as use the extreme to get on the internet
another option could be to update the firmware of the cable modem

  • New Mac will not connect Internet but old pc will

I got a new MacBook pro today and sat down to get on it after getting it all set up to go online and get it connected to the cloud. But it's saying it can't connect to the Internet. My old pc is connected and before the Mac was to but now I can't get it working. I did reset the connections but that didn't work.

I'm having the same problem.  Brand new Macbook pro trying to set it up for my daughter for Christmas.  I have a Mac desktop, Ipad2, 2 ipod touches and my iphone all running no problem on my wifi.  Router has been reset, still the Macbook pro can't connect to the internet.  I've checked and rechecked the password.  Everything seems fine.  I do have an IP address the Verizon tech support changed with me so I put that one into the settings on the macbook.  It seemed to like that and got farther into the process, but couldn't connect to the internet.
