New email erases old

I use Nokia Email on my E71x.  I set up two email accounts: one for my inbox.com account and one for my gmail.com account.  They were set up at the same time and following the same procedure.  The gmail account works fine, but the inbox account each time it queries the account erases messages it delivered in the previous query.  So if it automatically checks the accounts and delivers messages to gmail, the next time it checks the new messages are just added to the list.  But on the inbox account, if it automatically checks the account and delivers messages, the next time it checks, the previous messages are deleted.  This even happens if there are no messages delivered the second time and if I have not seen the messages that were delivered the first time.
Any ideas how to fix this or what the problem could be??

i have an old iphone 3gs which is backed up on itunes. bought a new iphone 4gs and need to back it up. will syncing new phone erase old 3gs data?

This is not very iTunes Public Site Manager related... but I was in the same situation as you a little while ago.
    1 - Sync/back up your old 3gs.
2 - Activatie your new phone when connected to itunes via cable and it will ask you if you want to restore our old phone.
    3 - ???
    4 - profitt!
might also work with icloud but i have not tried that method.

  • New emails have old messages

I am receivng new email that has a current subject/address but when opened the contents is from an old email. I have read in the communities discussions that it can be caused by Envelop index being mixed up, but I don't think 10.8.3 has this folder.
    I'm using Mail v6.3 on OS 10.8.3.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • New email when old account won't delete.

Recently I changed my email on my iCloud account.  When I try to "delete" the old account to set up a new one it asks for my password for the old email acct, which I can't recall and can no longer have sent to me as my old email is gone.  To boot some of my info got jumbled or changed so when I try to change the old emails password using the questions/info route it won't let me in due to incorrect info.  So my iCloud account on all my Apple products continues to show up under my old email and now won't update and asks me for my password every time I turn on a product only to not accept what I enter.  How do I either clean out or delete and start fresh my iCloud account.  Please help!

  • I got a new email but ol email keeps coming up when i go to get an app but it wont let me in with my old password and if i go to get newpassword it sends it to my new email

I GOT A NEW EMAIL BUT OLD EMAIL KEEPS COMING UP WHEN I GO TO GET AN APP BUT WHEN I GO TO CHANGE
MY PASSWORD IT SENDS IT TO MY NEW EMAIL.

    Hi jackburkholder,
You will need to delete the iCloud account with your old ID, but before you can do that, you will have to go back into Manage Your Apple ID, and change your Apple ID back to the old address. Don't worry about verifying it, you just need to change it.
Then, go into Settings>iCloud and turn off Find My iPhone (it will ask you for a password - put in your current one to turn it off). Then, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and Delete the iCloud account using your current password.
Also go into Settings>iTunes & App Store, clidk on your old ID and sign out of iTunes.
Then go back to Manage Your Apple ID and put your new Apple ID back in.
Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with your new Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID.
Go back into Settings>iTunes & App Store and sign on with your new Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID.
    Cheers,

  • For iPhone 4s, how do I change the sound when I get a new email?

I have attempted to change the alert for new emails in Settings, under Sounds and Vibration Patterns, New Mail.   When I choose a new alert sound, it selects it and displays it next to New Mail.   However when I receive a new email, the old sound (Tri tone) plays though it is not selected.   Suggestions?

Go into Notifications, Mail, check each of your mail accounts and see what sound is set there. You can set an individual sound for each account. While they should have picked up the default in Sounds, it is possible you need to change it in each of your accounts.
    See if this helps.

  • Checking for new email deletes all previous messages from iphone 3g

After receiving any email, the device is removing all email from all local folders. The remove setting is set to 'never', 'ask before deleting' is set to 'on' and it is set to show 75 messages. There is nothing in the trash, sent, or main inbox.
I can see a test email for about 5 minutes. if I resynch or turn the device off, and and then check for new email, the old email is removed. No trace of it anywhere.
It didn't do this originally. It just started in the last few days.
    Thanks.

I suggest deleting and recreating the account.

  • How do i erase my old apple id and create a new one with a new email address

I forgot my phones Apple ID password and along with that forgot my password to my email account. I use my work email so thats why i dont really know the email i created for my phone.
So I created a new email and a new Apple ID online but when i put it the new Apple ID in my phone it says its incorect and shows my username as my old email that i had.  If that made any sense my entire question is how do i erase my old apple id on my phone and replace it with the new one i submittes online?

Contact Apple, either through the link in that article or by phoning them. Alternatively, just create a new Apple ID; previous iTunes Store purchases won't be transferred to it.

  • I changed computers and need my old emails to transfer without erasing new emails

My old mac died. So I have a new one. I have Thunderbird on my new mac & have used it for a few weeks. But I need access to my old emails. I cannot get on my old, dead computer to "make folders" or do anything else. How do I migrate my old emails without erasing all my new emails?

without access to the data on your old hard disk you have no access to your mail. It is that simple.

  • HT204053 erase old apple ID and place a new due to expired old email

Hi to all. I have an apple ID in my iphone5 with which I have made my Apps purchases and it is also my Apple ID in icloud. The email of this ID has expired.Buing a new ipad and probably wrongly I did set on this ipad a new appleID with a  new existing email.
Under this sircumstances I cannot transfer my purchase to the new ipad or i dont know how to do it.
In any case my question is can i erase somehow my old apple id and place my new in all my devices (iphone, imac. ipad) as i went
to appleid manage and tried to enter there my new email adress but it doesnt accept it since it says that it is already used.
I am a bit confused with all these and anybody who can help get out of this complicated situation please do. It will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you all in advance

Unfortunately you created a new Apple ID with your new email address. Once you did that it can't be used with any other Apple ID. What you could have done was use the new email address for the old Apple ID and everything would have been fine.
I have not tested this, but another user has said that if you haven't really used the new Apple ID for anything and would be OK with abandoning it, that you can reclaim the new email address from the new Apple ID and resurrect your old Apple ID. This will only work if you are using 3rd party email addresses like [email protected]
    1. Use these steps to change the new Apple ID to a fake email address just slightly different than your new email address.
Changing the email address you use for your Apple ID -

    2. After you have used the above steps to change the new Apple ID to a fake email address, your new email address should be free to use with your old Apple ID following the same steps.

  • How do I transfer saved emails from old ipad to new ipad

how do I transfer saved emails from old ipad to new ipad?

    Hi trevorius,
Happy New Year!  The answer to your question depends on what email account you are using.   If it is your iCloud email account, the email messages will be available when you enable iCloud on your new iPad.  If it is an iMap account like Gmail, the messages will be redownloaded from their server.
Transfer content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT2109
Transfer content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device
You can use iCloud or iTunes to transfer content from your current iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to another device.
    Use iCloud Backup
Follow these steps if both your devices use iOS 5 or later and you have an iCloud account. If not, please follow the iTunes steps below.
You can use iCloud Backup to back up your previous device and then restore the backup to a new device. Your saved messages, email accounts, photos, notes, and other personal settings will be transferred to your new device.
    See more about iCloud Backup.
    Turn on iCloud Backup
Start by backing up your old device to iCloud:
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
    Turn on iCloud Backup.
You may want to connect to power and turn Wi-Fi on.
    Back up now
iCloud backs up your device once a day. To back up your device before you transfer content:
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
    Tap Back Up Now.
Wait until the backup finishes. How long it will take depends on how big the backup is and how fast your Internet connection is.
    Set up your new device
When the backup of your old device is finished, turn on your new device. Follow the setup assistant, which will ask you to choose these things:
    Your language and country
    Whether to enable Location Services
    A Wi-Fi network
If you've already set up your device, you can reset it so that you can go through the iOS Setup Assistant again and restore from your backup. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do this only if you already have a backup.
    Restore from iCloud Backup
When you're asked to set up:
    Choose Restore from iCloud Backup.
    Tap next.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Choose the backup
Choose the backup of your old device and tap Restore. Wait until the device finishes restoring from the backup.
How long it will take depends on how big the backup is and how fast your Internet connection is.
    Sync other content from iTunes
When the restore finishes, your device will restart. You should connect the device to iTunes to sync data that isn't in the backup (such as music, videos, or apps that you didn't purchase from the iTunes Store or the App Store ). To change the type of content that syncs, click the syncing tabs in iTunes.
    Enter your passwords
When you're restoring an iCloud backup to a new device, you'll need to enter your password for your Apple ID, email and other accounts, and voicemail. If you've forgotten your voicemail password, contact your carrier.

    Use iTunes
If you don't have an iCloud account or you just want to keep a backup on your computer, you can use iTunes to back up and transfer content on your device.
    Get ready
Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer and the latest version of iOS on your original device.
You can't install a backup of a newer version of iOS onto devices that are using earlier versions of iOS. If your backup came from a device that has a newer version of iOS installed, update your new device before you transfer your data. For help, see Unable to restore from a backup of a newer iOS device.
    Back up and transfer
First, back up your old device using iTunes. You can also encrypt the backup so that it remembers the passwords for your email, Wi-Fi, and more when you transfer to the new device. Otherwise, you can re-enter these passwords on the new device.
Then transfer your data from your device to your computer.
    Remove your SIM card
If your device has a SIM card, use the SIM-extractor tool or a paper clip to remove the SIM from your old device and insert it into your new device. Or if your carrier gave you a new SIM card, use that instead.
    Set up the new device
When the backup of your old device is finished, turn on your new device. Follow the setup assistant, which will ask you to choose these things:
    Your language and country
    Whether to enable Location Services
    A Wi-Fi network
If you don’t have a Wi-Fi or cellular data connection, you can also activate by tapping Connect to iTunes.
    Restore the backup
When prompted to set up your device, select Restore from iTunes Backup.
    Connect to iTunes
Connect your new device to iTunes, using the same computer you used to back up your current device. iTunes will ask you to restore from backup or set up as new. Select the backup of your old device and choose Continue.
If the progress bar in iTunes pauses for a while, wait until the restore finishes.
    Sync other content
When the restore finishes, your device restarts, and then it's ready for you to use.
Keep your device connected to iTunes to sync content that isn't in the backup (such as music, videos, and apps). To change the type of content that syncs, click the syncing tabs in iTunes.
    Enter your passwords
If you restored from an unencrypted backup, you'll need to enter the password for your Apple ID, email and other accounts, and voicemail. If you've forgotten your voicemail password, contact your carrier.
