New Essbase member in Web Analysis

Hello Gurus,
I have added a new year "2021" in my Essbase hierarchy.
Now I am trying to have this 2021 in my Web Analysis document, however, I do not see 2021 when I try to add that year in my column.
In terms of Financial Reports the member is already there but I do not see it in Web Analysis, Do I need to do anything extra for it to be visible in WA?

Are you connecting to the same database? Can you try creating a new report and see whether it works?

We are designing a new Chart report in Web analysis, in "Rows" their are three members and the "Columns" contain two members.
Our Client requirement is that Two specific Dimension members Of "Rows" should show Data specific to One dimension member of "Columns" and One specific Dimension members Of "Rows" should show Data specific to One dimension member of "Columns".
Is it possible?

Not Possible Create Database Connection to Essbase From Web Analysis Studio

Hello
It is not possible to create a database connection to Essbase cluster from Web Analysis (WA) Studio. The following error message is displayed:
"Unable to retrieve the list of available databases"
And the detail:
[1033] Native: 1003 Error: Create connection failed [For input string:
[ApsServer=, OlapServer=[HOST];]]
Foundation Services, Agent, Financial Reporting and Web Analysis are enabled.
As additional information from EAS can seamlessly connect to Essbase server.
The EPM version is 11.1.2.2

Hi ,
For creating a WebAnalysis database connection, please make sure you do the following :
1. Verify if you have Essbase client installed on the WebAnalysis server.
2. Check if the path of adm drivers are mentioned in the system environment variable -> PATH entries.
3. Try giving the Essbase server name instead of the cluster name when attempting to create a connection.
4. The error 1003 means it doesnt seem to create a connection with the server and while attempting it fails.
Make sure you have all the parameters mentioned correctly in the server details.
To get detailed information on what is causing the problem, make sure you stop the WebAnalysis service and start it from console .

"Year To Date" feature in Web Analysis.

I need to retrieve "YearToDate" data from Essbase into a Web Analysis report such as I select a specified month from a drop down list and it displays the data till the selected month. I couldn't find any topic related to "YTD" in Web Analysis user guide. Does WA support this feature?

Requirement in Web Analysis

Hi Experts,

Web Analysis data layout does not reflect newly added attribute dimension

Hi,
We newly added one new attribute dimension. If any new report creation in Web Analysis reflect that dimension. However, the reports which are old(created before the addition of new dimension), does not show the newly added dimension.

Data not exist for member combination in web analysis report

When I run the report in web analysis studio iam able to find the data for a particular member combination.When I try to run the same report in workspace iam not finding any data for same member combination.Can U please help me to resolve this issue

You must've realized that- Even if you select only the desired members, you end up being able to drill-down unwanted members. Correct ? :)
The only way, I believe, is- To create a users' group at your Data source side, perhaps, Essbase & provision this new group with a Metaread filter which prevents him/her from Drilling down to the leaf node.
PS: Giving Read access might also let the user not see the data for children. But, if you want to hide the members also, Metaread+ is the way to go.

Web Analysis does not drill down (Essbase datasource)

I have a web analysis document which does not drill down to next level when double clicking on a parent level. In my report I have children of Area dimension selected individually and their parent on rows ( this means I have not used selection where I select only top member and its children; this is because one of the children should not be in the report). This is not an security issue, because I have admin rights to the essbase cube.
Usually when double-clicking on a member in report it should drill down to next level. This report does not drill down.
The strange thing is that if I select "Keep Only" for the top member of that dimension and then double-click it then drills down nicely???
When using a excel add-in and retrieving data there the same kind of report drills down without problems. Any ideas why this drill down does not work properly in Workspace (and also in Web Analysis Stuidio) ?

Hi!
I checked out the dimension in question. It seems to have implied shares (parent having only one child). There seems to be implied shares in almost all child hierarchies which might explain the web analysis behaviour.
We are using V11. The application is an aggregate storage application.

Selecting Member Name and also Alias in Web Analysis report

I have made a web analysis report and now i want to show member names as well as alias of the members which i have selected on row side. How can i do that?

in the member properties, you have an option to show alias, member name, or both. Click on both / alias as per the requirement

Web Analysis Essbase connection

Hi all,
I have an already created Web Analysis Essbase connection and I want to change the Essbase server for the connection. If I go to Workspace->Explore, then Tools->Manage Database Connections, I can only see the Reporting connections in order to edit them. How do I edit the properties of Web Analysis connections?

You can edit them through WA studio, depends on where you saved the db connections, usually in the databases folder, right click the connection and edit.

Dimension Header Sort not working in Web Analysis

The dimension header sort which is supposed to sort dimension members automatically as they are designed in the database outline doesn't work and instead any new dimension members are just added to the end of the list. There are four options from the shortcuts menu > Data Display > Dimension Header Sort : Default, Ascending, Descending, Level or Generation. None of these work or none of these reorganize the dimension members order. Does anybody know what could be the problem? We are using Hyperion Web Analysis Studio 9.3.1 running on Red Hat.
This is a big show stopper issue for our deployment because of the vast number of changes to the reports financial users have to do on daily basis they expect the hierachy based on the database outline in Essbase to be retained through any new member additions or changes.

How are you pulling through the members - are you using Descendant of? (I know there is the Dynamic option for drop downs).
Web Analysis is very picky about the formatting and application of different formats in order they were last applied. Maybe try removing all formating to see if there is still an issue, then reapply.
There is also a known issue (SR3-992119231) with shared members only appearing in the first place in the hierarchy and not in any shared hierarchies - the SR indicated it would be fixed in the current version 11.1.x but there was no indication of a backfix to prior releases (9.3.1.x).

Strange security issue with reports in Web Analysis.

Hi All,
I am working on Hyperion System 9.3.1 and Reports are developed using Web Analysis. To develop the reports I followed the following sequence.
1) Developed the reports with admin rights on Web Analysis reports and Essbase cube.
2) Create a group with users in Shared services and assign the following roles Analyst, Data Editor,Data Source Publisher,Dynamic viewer,Explorer,Viewer rights in Hyperion System 9 BI+ level and calc access for the database at Analytic Server level.
3) Create a separate folder in Web Analysis studio and copy the WA reports there(say- reports).
4) At workspace level, I gave the access on folder and on report.
Now when I login as one of the member of the group I am unable to see the reports in the folder.
I can see the reports when I login as an admin.
Am I misssing anything or the security I gave is insufficient.

can you tell me what inherit permission you gave to make it work.
I have a folder having a view access only. whenever i make new reports as admin...i cant see my new reports untill i refresh the "apply permission to children" options gain.
But thats not what i m looking for...i want it come on its own when I create a report.

Disable Drill options only for one dimension of Web Analysis report

Please help me on below issue.
I created a web analysis report with 3 dimensions Accounts, MRC and Measure. I have to disable drill down and drill up options only for Measure. Accounts and MRC should be drillable where as Measure should show the selected member as static and not drillable.

I am using HFM with Oracle database as the data source for reports and using Hyperion 931 components.
I have a requirement in Key Performance Indicators reports (KPI)

3) Need to indicate Font colours based on the values derived in columns (1) and (2) - if positive data - green colour
if negative data - red colour
I am trying to replicate this in Web Analysis report, but facing issues on
1)Making this year value dynamic (shd change based on current year or atleast should prompt when we run report)
2) Since i have fixed the report with 2008 and 2007 year, all the formattig made whiel creating the Report goes away, if i try to run the report with different year values like in 2010 and 2009 year (as current and prior year)
3) Also, i have hided some coulumns based on our requirement which also no longer exists if i change the year values (available in coulmns)
Please suggest any comments to resolve these issues, Moreover i am new to Web Analysis reporting tool ,so kindly suggest, if i am not using any of the existing WebAnalysis features to derive my requirement.

If you are using the Essbase as a data source then you can achieve these things from using the substitution variable in WA report.
Assume you have a substitution variable in Essbase cube for current year. In WA report in Dimension Browse, right-click a dimension member and select "Substitution Variable”. The Substitution Variable dialog box is displayed. Here select a substitution variable from the list of Essbase substitution variables.
To get the Prior year, again in Dimension Browse, right-click a dimension member and select the "Also select Previous". Here define the prior year that you want to use in your report.
Sorry, I have no idea about the substitution variables in the HFM (It might be that we call the substitution variable with another name in HFM).
