"New Event" constantly showing up

So a bit of background.
After my wife upgraded her macbook to Lion we have had a whole slew of issues. Apple has been awesome in fixing them for us or getting us the "next best" solution to a problem.
However, there is one that has been persistent since she upgraded to Lion and this issue seems to be something that was apparently "supposed" to have been fixed in the 10.7.3 update. I am talking about "new event" showing up in iCal.
Now my wife uses her Macbook Pro for her business and schedules clients months in advance only to have this issue rear its ugly head a few times a month (this month seems to have been the worst for some reason). I believe I have the issue narrowed down but I wanted to see what you guys thought.
Here is her normal scenario:
- My wife works in a salon with wireless internet (patrons use it and there are a few other stylists that do like she does)
- She schedules all of her clients with notes on what will be done months in advance (normal clients come in every 4-6wks and will schedule 3 and 4 appointments out)
- While she is not using the Macbook it sits on a shelf at her station, in sleep mode, which she will then promptly wake it up and start looking fo a new date for the next appointment (I would get this takes about a minute with back and forth with the customer)
- She schedules the customer one, if not two or three, appointments out and then proceed to go ring the customer up at the main desk
- Many times the laptop just sits there and stays on while she does this and then moves on to her next waiting client (believe me, two degrees in business management and IT and my wife still makes more money than I do, DO NOT make fun of these people that are passionate about their work )
- Just about every night she connects her laptop to her WD Passport (for Mac) to do the incremental backup
This is her normal scenario however as she reviews her upcoming day that evening (gives me a better idea of when she will be home so I can clean house, play with dogs, work on my Cruiser, play video games, etc) she will see the fabled "New Event" sitting in her days work.
Now this "New Event" is default set for 1hr of time and does not have any notes (my wife emails confirmations to her clients so the email feature from the calendar is sent out) and she has no idea whether she has someone coming in for a full weave (a 2 to 3hr job) or just a trim (30 minutes). We have tried to replicate this issue at home on our wireless network (Airport Extreme) and we get nothing.
What I am thinking is that the internet, at least once a week, goes down at her salon and what is happening is when she is connecting to the network after a wake-up that the system is then attempting to connect to the internet and the iCal servers (she uses iCloud to back up all this information and see across the internet and our iPhones). When this happens there may be a "hiccup" in the connect and so when she types the information it has yet to syc with iCloud (her computer is set to primary house for main copy). When this happens and the system finally DOES connect it is some time later and it is then trying to sync everything and these "new items" that she has just entered become "new events."
Am I logical in my thinking of this?
Our main concern is that she does not know what these "new events" are so she cannot plan her next client accordingly, let alone send them their week-of confirmation email.
- Do you guys think that not putting her computer to sleep (buying a secondary wall adapter for the salon) so that it is always connected to the internet a remedy?
- Could this be an issue with the salon's internet having "hiccups" and should we look at investing in our own personal hotspot?
- Is there a chance that we could possibly set the "iCloud" sync to only happen at a predetermined time (i.e. 11pm at night when we know she will be home and connected to our home network)?
Not quite sure how to proceed here.

Still have not been able to find a resolution to this issue. My wife is down to one remaining "new event" item in her calendar so we are hoping that the last fix that came through had taken care of whatever the issue was.
However, she did say the other day while scheduling a client she did notice that they system began to sync with iClound while she was entering information and the event suddenly changed to the dreaded "new event". She caught it this time so she was able to adjust the information but I believe this may be solidification to the fact that if you are entering something WHILE your system is attempting to sync with iCloud that it will be overwritten and come up as a new event. I have yet to fully test this but it seems to be a very situational type of issue.
She has not taken to heart that this may just be something she will have to live with and will need to be more aware of what is going on. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to see if there is a way to "schedule" when you want iCloud to sync with your devices so that it is more of a "manual push" vs. an automated one.

    Normally, when I import photos, an event is created. When I go to Events, the new event is located at the bottom of all events. This time it showed up in the second location at the top. The date of the new pictures is 1/9/2011, yet it is between pictures with dates 2006 and 1980. Whats going on? I have the latest version (update) of iPhoto 11.
    Let me just add... I was able to drag it down to the bottom of the list of events, but that's a hassle considering I have 333 events.

    Set the sort order to the desired sort - view menu ==> sort events - it sounds like it currently is set to manual

  • New Events Not Showing Up In Events But In Last Import

    I have a peculiar problem. I decided to move my iPhoto library to my external HDD, as my old trusty MacBook is going to my wife, but I don't want to put my personal photos (all 174Gb of them) on my new company owned MBP. The external HDD was the solution...or so I thought. I did this over the weekend, expecting NEW events to be listed under Events.
    Not so, thus far. All of my new events, my almost 1600 photos I have taken for the new year, have been placed in Last Import. I see them, without problem there, but I want them in Events. I even did a further importation of photos, after the 1600 import, and everything is still listed under Last Import. I feel like I should have just started a new library and have the old one as archive or something. I am not happy, but I could be if I could find out how to move the Events under Last Import (because I manually sorted the photos and put them into different Events).
    Please advise me what I could or should do. I feel like starting over with a new library altogether, which I would prefer not to do.

    Please do now worry about it. I found the answer. I knew the photos had been there the whole time, but just couldn't find the Events. What you do is
    In Last Import, select a photo
    Right-click on that photo and select the option "Show Event"
    You will note that the sidebar will suddenly have shifted you from Last Import to Events.
    When you go to All Events, you will see that all of your Events are there, as they were manually named.
    To be sure, in case you don't see them, on the menu bar, click on View>Sort>by date, or however you wish for them to be sorted.

  • Random "New Event" occurances show up. What is this about?

    In Calendar I see a smattering of "New Events" showing up occasionally, usually in the few months ahead. While not fatal, this is annoying. How can this be controlled?

    I've never seen this.  Events can be created by double clicking on the calendar.  Any chance you're doing this by accident and then changing to another date?

  • Problem with importing photos to MBP: The new event shows up at the beginning of Events rather than at the end

    When I imported photos on my older Mac computers G4 and G5), the new event would show up as the last event in EVENTS. With my new MBP, the new event shows up consistently at the beginning of EVENTS (actually as the second event), and it is a big inconvenience to have to drag it to the end (through some 500 events). How can I change this? Thank you for your help!

    If you have the sort set to manual then you must manually sort the events as you choose - there is no "sort manually the way I am thinking" setting - manual is manual - and for what ever reason with the current version of iphoto second from the top is where events start for you to then manually put where you want
    BTW - events are a poor choice for organizing photos and extremely inflexible (as you are seeing) - albums and folder are much more powerful and flexible and are the better way to organize photos

  • I cant create new events in iCal on my Mac or display them

    Since a few days ago after upgrading to Lion when I want to create a new event it
    dosent show up in my calender. All the old events is shown and when I create an
    event for example on my iPhone and sync with iCal on my Mac I can see the
    new event.
    I click in the calender to make a new event, nothing shows up, but when syncing
    with my iPhone I can see the new event without any text because I didnt see the

    Called Apple fast track support and problem is resolved. User error, for some reason I had selected the wrong calendar - after selecting the proper calendar on the left sidebar I could create events. Apparently at some time I created a 'todo' mailbox. It had nothing in it and I ended up deleting it so it doesn't get selected again in error.
    Took 15 minutes to connect with an ICAL specialist. Once connected received excellent support.

  • New Event...not appearing in iCal

    When I double-click in a date to create a new event, nothing happens in my iCal, however, the new event is showing up in iCloud and my iPhone. It just says New Event, but nothing in iCal on my desktop.

    Where did the original VCS file come from? Some systems will create files, but in a format that doesn't match Apple's format (or the standard).
    Specifically, if there is a space between the colon and the data value in the vcs file, then ical will complain:
    Download the VCS file attachment to your desktop. Double-click on it, ical should see it, but then complain. Check "console.log" via the Console application, and you'll likely see an error like:
    2006-11-02 11:21:27.256 iCal[725] Incorrect version for vCal file. Got ' 1.0'
    2006-11-02 11:21:27.256 iCal[725] Fatal vCalendar parser error !
    Note the space prior to the 1.0 in the error message. Technically, that's a bug in whatever software which produced the VCS message, as there is not supposed to be a space (IIRC), but why ical is so picky as to not allow/ignore the space, I don't know.
    Using TextEdit (or similar) you can remove the spaces after the colons in the file, and it will import successfully (unless you're seeing a different problem).
    I have no solution for doing this in any automatic way -- anyone have suggestions?

  • Can't create new events or todos

    I am a frequent iCal / Mac user and have been using my Mac for the last year with no problem.
    Yesterday, I was no longer able to create new events or todos, in any calendar. When I click new event or new todo, there is no response (no window pops up, just ignores). When I drag an area in a day to create a new event, it shows the dragged time, then doesn't create the todo
    If I create an event or todo on my iPhone, it stays on my iPhone, but does not show up when syncing.
    Note all old events are still present. I can move an existing event to the future, so this shows edits are still possible.
    Can this be a recent bug from an pushed updated? Has anyone else seen this?
    I have rebooted and ensured all SW is up to date.

    I am having the same trouble and just realized it yesterday. Can you provide the detailed steps you followed that I could try?
    I sync my calendar to MobileMe and my phone and those are both fine - and I've added new things to them since iCal stopped working apparently (guessing it was about a week ago based on things missing from iCal). I'm confused by your comment about backing up iCal - won't that simply end up restoring the same inaccurate data? Or maybe in my case it doesn't matter because the next time I sync it will update with the data I have on my phone and MobileMe (so maybe a dumb question). I already use Time Capsule so I'm guessing I can just use my most recent Time Capsule/iCal file backup to do my restore?
    I know very little about Terminal - not even enough to be dangerous! Are you saying in terminal you typed in that exact string you're showing below?

  • When I sync my iPod to my MacBook through iTunes new events do not show up and old events are not deleted. I am using Snow Leopard  and not iSync.

    I am using Snow Leopard on a MacBook. I have an iPod touch 3G. I do not use iSync it Mobile Me. When I sync my iPod through iTunes new events on my iPod do not show up on my Mac and old events do not delete. I have read help instructions that include deleting the data on the iPod. The iPod has the correct data and the Mac does not so I have not followed those instructions. I need help as the only reason I bought the Mac was to be able to sync, back up, view and print my calendar. Currently it is useless. If only Apple could have learned from the elegance of the Palm software.

    Since (as I recall) last monday, iCal started to work strange. Or, better put in other way: stopped working.
    I have three calendars only (personal, work and "no category), all of them syncing with iCloud. There are two other local calendars too (in "my mac"), but I don't use them and they are unchecked.
    I only use my macbook white and an iphone 3GS, also syncing with iCloud.
    I don't subscribe any external calendar and don't accept any kind of invitation. It is a basic-simple use: I set my appointments (throw the whole year) and want to see / edit them on iphone.
    Finally, I use reminders (on iphone) a lot and share the "personal" calendar with my with (she uses iCloud on her iphone and ipad).
    The problems are basic two (as I could indentify so far):
    1) I can't set new appointments on iCal. Or better: I may set, but cannot see it. For instance, when a double click the Feb 24th to set a appointment, nothing happens, but a "New event" apperars on iCloud, right way. Looks like that iCal is setting the event up, but it just does not show it. Lately, I've discovered that when I go to the week view in iCal, it shows the event, but it just don't appear on month or year views;
    2) There are a bunch of events that appear correctly on iCloud (and iphone) but just don't show up in my iCal.
    I've been trying to find a solution, already followed a couple of step-by-step possible solution (deleted local calendars, took off iClound accoun from iCal, deleted all files on specific folders in my library), but anything work out. It just don't work anymore.
    Scary...
    I have just quit iCal and started using iCloud as my main input way for may events.... Wonder if anyone else is facing something like this and if is there any sollution out there.

    i have a similar problem. i can't add any new events to my ical. i can do it on ical on icloud but not on the ical on my itouch. i can't edit them either. it tells me the event can not be saved because a calendar has not been chosen. it was working just fine yesterday and now it won't work.
    i'm new to this on line community stuff. i posted my questions but i don't know how i'm supposed to see any answers. i guess it doesn't matter that i even ask you this or reply to you because i don't plan to be able to see any comments to this. oh well. computer stuff is just crap  sometimes. i guess we have to learn to deal with it.
    my paper calendar NEVER gave me any problems. i would just pull out my trusty pen and write down my appointment and wallah! it was done. it wouldn't get erased or deleted or stop working.

  • Issues: new events show from google calendar but not the other way round

    & http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=139206 and looked at the known issues page, but I am still stuck.
    Entries in my Google Calendar have now synced in iOS Calendar (and weekcal which I use instead of iOS Cal) - however, none of my existing entries in my iOS Cal have synced with Google Cal.
    Here are the issues:
    A recurring event created by someone else and me invited showed in iOS when I set this up
    None of my events from iOS show in Google Calendar
    New events I create in Google Calendar do not show in iOS
    New events I create in iOS don't show in Google Calendar
    To test, I deleted the recurring event which was the only one showing on iOS - immediately it was also deleted on iOS which indicates it is set-up to sync betweeb Google and iOS
    Cannot find any information on help pages about this.

    I'm not sure what else to suggest. As the Nokia 5800 is not natively supported by iSync you must be using an iSync Plugin, so I'd advise contacting the author of the plugin - it may be buggy and need fixing.

    My problem was (and still is) that i couldn't sync new events from my macbook to the touch.

    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • My new events no longer show up in Events, since I upgraded to iPhoto 11 at the end of March. The number of events goes up, but they no longer show. The photos are in my photo place all right, but everything is getting every messy and confusing. Help!

    I upgraded to iPhoto 11 from iPhoto 08 at the end of March, 2012. Since then, although all my photos appear in the library,and the number of events tally goes up, no new events show up in Events. My iPhoto is getting very mess and confusing. I have checked preferences, and they are the same as what I always had (one event/day)

    Go into the Event mode and set the View ➙ Sort menu option to By Date, either ascending or descending, and look for the new events at the top or bottom of the list.
    You can view the last import in the Last Import section and then Control (right) click on one of the photos and select Show Event.  That will take you to the event where you can rename it at the top and then check to see where in the list it is placed.
