New Events Created on iPhone Still Don't Sync to iCal 3

I have been having the same problems that others have had:  events that I create on my iPhone do not sync with iCal since I upgraded to 10.5.
But now I noticed something even more bizarre.  After upgrading to 10.5.1, the pop-up menu in Itunes "Put new events created on the iPhone into this calendar" has switched from one of my calendars to a calendar labeled "Home."  The only problem is I don't have a calendar called "Home."  Nor does this "Home" calendar show up in other contextual menus in either iCal or Mail.  Odd.

I found a solution that worked for me. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6002974&#6002974 said to Export and delete my calendars. I did that. As soon as I did though, I got a merging problem. I followed what http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5772325&#5772325 said and replaced my iPhone calendar with my iCal data (of course I made sure important events were in iCal first). But they talk to each other now and all is well in the universe again.

  • Events created on iPod touch don't sync to iCal

I've been trying to sync events created on my iPod touch with my laptop iCal to no avail. I've called Apple customer service twice and they haven't been able to help. When I'm in iTunes, I designate the iCal calendar that I want touch-created events to sync to, but the events never appear in that calendar. I've created new, empty calendars in iCal to try to get events to appear there, but nothing. Events sync to my iPod touch from all my iCal calendars, though. This one-way synching isn't a good thing. Help me please!!

I'm having the exact same problem. Did you ever find a solution. Any changes to my calendar made on my iPod Touch do not sync to my iCal calendar that is designated in the Info tab in iTunes.

  • Put new events created on iPhone into subscribed calendar?

Is it possible to put new events created on my iPhone calendar into a subscribed calender on my MacBook's iCal? It doesn't seem so. The "Calendars" section of the info tab in iTunes sync lets me use any local calendar that I have created in iCal ("work" "home:", etc.) to put new events into from my iPhone. And they do indeed show up after synching. But what I would really like to do is put them directly into a calDAv calender I subscribe to on the MacBook and that doesn't appear to be an option.
To be sure, events from the calDav calender show up nicely on the phone when I synch. But phone to calDAv on the MacBook would be handy because MacBook syncs directly with the calDAv server.
Thanks for any help with this.

I just realized that I have terminologically muddied the waters with how I posed my question. Permit me to put it better: can I put new events created on my iPhone onto a calDAV calender on my MacBook?
The way I orignally posed it in terms of a subscribed calendar was wrong, inasmuch as you don't subscribe to a calDav calendar; you sync it.
My apologies for the inexactitude. I hope someone can help me.

  • New contacts created on iphone 4s will not sync to outlook 2010

all my updates are installed. but the contacts I create on the 4S will not sync to outlook 2010. anyone knows how to solve this?

You need to restore the backup of your old hard drive to the new one. The iPhone is not a backup device, and syncing iTunes content is one way, from computer to iPhone. If you don't have a backup there is an alternative process that can get most of the data off of your iPhone, but it is complicated and cumbersome. • Events entered in iphone calendar won't sync to ical

For some reason, if i add an event to my calendar on my iphone4 it is not showing them in iCal.
Have got sync box checked in the info part of itunes, can't think of anything else
    anyone?

    The tech way longer.....
Open iCal and backup or export your entries. Make a note of the fie name and location, you're going to need them in a minute. Once your backup/export is completed, close the iCal application.
Open Finder and remove everything inside the "Username/Library/Calendars" folder. For instance, if your username is "Joe", then move everything inside the "Joe/Library/Calendars" folder.
Open the iSync application. It's located in the "/Applications/" folder. Once iSync is opened, go into the iSync Preferences (iSync -> Preferences) and push/click the "Reset Sync History" button. Then, close the iSync application.
Re-Open the iCal application and Import (File -> Import) a new calendar. When prompted, use your notes from Step #1 to select the file your created earlier. Once completed, close the iCal application (you should have all of your calendar entries back.)
Open the iTunes application and connect your Apple iPhone to the computer.
Within the Advanced section of the Info tab for the Apple iPhone, check the box the overwrites/replaces the Calendar data on the Apple iPhone.
Click the Apple/Sync button. New, modified and deleted entries should now be syncing correctly.

Assuming you're creating this event to place in your calendar, and assuming this calendar is shared with your iMac and iPad using iCloud, might the calendar be restricted on your iPhone?

  • Events created on iPhone not syncing to iCal when I bought new Leopard iMac

that pretty much says it all... i had a powerbook g4 and no problem syncing. bought new iMac with Leopard. just noticed that events created on iPhone not showing up on iCal. Ideas?

    Ok, this will work.
    1. Turn off .Mac Sync in System Preferences.
    2. Open iCal and back up your calendar. File>Back up iCal. +(Just to be safe.)+
    2. In iCal, export all your calendars as file(s). File>Export. +(Note: You can safe these to folders that are in a similar order to the calendar groups that you might have for ease in importing them back in later.)+
    3. Delete all your calendars from iCal. +(Note: You will need to create a new "temp" calendar as iCal requires at least one calendar. *Also, it is very important to save the URL's of the calendars that you subscribe to for later importing.*)+
    4. Import the calendars you just exported. +(Note: First add a new calendar to iCal and use the same name as the calendar that you are importing. All the data from your exported calendar will be added to your new calendar.)+
    5. Open iTunes sync with iPhone, telling iTunes to reload all the info on my iPhone +(pertaining to iCal)+ INFO Tab>Replace information on this iPhone>check Calendar.
It's a pain and takes a while if you have a number of calendars, but it will work.
    Good luck!

  • Events created on iPhone NOT synching to Calendar - and I'm all up to date

I'm on a MacBook, running 10.4.10, all software is latest up to date, running iPhone 1.0.1.
I have a Calendar event I created yesterday for today (3pm appt). I've plugged/unplugged to sync repeatedly, iTunes reports sync is finished, but the event doesn't make it onto the MacBook's Calendar.
This is deeply alarming as I thought I could count on iPhone created events to migrate to my Mac and .Mac calendars - anybody know anything more about this?
    -mike

I'm experiencing a hybrid variation of what everyone else in this thread has reported.
    *Calendars*
I am using Entourage, and have two calendars set up in iCal. One is labeled Entourage and according to the notes, "This calendar is automatically created by Microsoft Entourage" so I'm leaving that one alone. I also created a second calendar named "iPhone". I have my iPhone sync preferences in iTunes set to sync with both calendars. Up until today (I hadn't synced calendars in a few days), everything seemed to move to and fro without any issues.
This morning though, the items I changed in iPhone successfully synced to both calendars in iCal, but did not carry over to Entourage. Even the "Entourage" calendar in iCal reflects all the changes. Similarly, items I added in Entourage are not making it over to the iPhone.
In iTunes, I have the preferences set to add new events from the iPhone into the Entourage calendar.
    *Contacts*
Contacts don't appear to be syncing in either direction.
Short story long, it looks like iCal and the iPhone are getting along swimmingly, but Entourage isn't syncing. I find this odd since the Entourage-created calendar in iCal looks fine - I would think if Entourage is showing as updated in iCal...then it would be updated in Entourage.
I did reset the sync history...that didn't appear to do anything helpful.
Entourage is my main calendar/address book...so this is a bit frustrating.

  • Calendar events created on iphone do not sync to ical...

I have created several events on my iphone calendar then watched them disappear when performing a sync with my laptop. I have gone to itunes, hi-lited my iphone (when mounted) then gone to "info" tab in itunes, I've selected "home" where it says "Put new events created on this iphone into the calendar" (pull down menu)
None of these phone-created-events end up in "home" or "work" or any of my other calendars. My laptop ical overrides anything on the phone and deletes it. Is there something else I should be checking or setting? I have the most current version of iphone software that's been offered (1.1.4). I would like to be able to put an event in there and have the sync work both ways.

Never mind. For some reason it just worked. I guess I really meant it this time.

  • Syncing Events Created with iPhone Not an Option?

Okay, I've read as many discussion threads as my eyes can handle and have tried several solutions suggested to no avail. I am using Windows Vista and Outlook 2007 but was very recently using Windows XP Pro and Outlook 2003. The same problem applies to both environments.
While I've had no problem syncing contacts and calendars from my computer to the iPhone, I cannot go the other direction. The selection box beside the phrases "Put new events (or contacts) created on this iPhone into the group (or calendar)," which is then followed but what should be a drop down menu, appears gray and is unselectable. I figured it was some simple preference setting in either Outlook or the iPhone that was causing the problem and found my way to the discussions to seek the remedy. Once here, I find myself overwhelmed and wondering if I now need a computer engineering degree to prevent missed appointments or the need for double entry. Please help a poor, technically challenged individual not regret the decision to by this phone!!

I'm guessing that perhaps the reason the option to "Put new Contacts/Events created on iPhone" is not available is that I only have one calendar/group (Outlook) available on my computer. That is also why it defaults to "All Contacts" and "All Calendars"
Evidently the actual syncing from the iPhone to the computer is unrelated to the availability of these options. At least that appears to be true in my case. I was actually able to get mine to work using the information in the article posted by someone else and available at
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305845
It seems the step regarding "Removing all other Third Party Add Ins" did the trick. I just didn't think it worked initially since the options on the Info tab did not change.
Hope that helps! Thanks to all for the input. B

  • Events created on iPhone not syncing properly

I've set iTunes to "Put new events creatd on this iPhone into the calendar" to my "Home" calendar, but when I create a new event on my iPhone and sync, the event shows up in the Read-Only "US Holidays" calendar (it's one that I subscribe to from Apple). I've tried the "Reset Sync History" feature in iSync several times (rebooting afterwards) but the problem persists. Any ideas??

Items that I enter on my iphone also get added to a calendar that I subscribe to, which is supposed to be read only, even though I have chosen another calendar to add new items too. My read-only calendar does not appear in the select box in the itunes info sync page, but it is getting the events, no matter what calendar I do choose. Then when the calendar gets auto refreshed from its source, the events disappear. I cannot change the events to place them on a different calendar, once they are in iCal my, because the calendar is read-only -- to everything but iphone.

  • Syncing events created on iPhone via Calaboration to Google calendars?

Downloaded the new Google "calaboration" CalDAV utility and sync'd 2 google calendars to iCal, and then with iPhone using iTunes. All worked fine. When I create an event in the iPhone Calendar app within one of the sync'd google calendars, it doesn't get saved within that calendar, but rather to "home" (the calendar I had chosen as the default under the phone settings). So I deleted all my non-google calendars in iCal and re-sync'd the iPhone, so now only google calendars show in the Calendar app. Now when I create an event on the iPhone, after having selected one of the google calendars, it gets saved in a new calendar called "Calendar", which apparently gets created at the time of the save. ?!? It would be nice to be able to create new events on the iPhone off-line and then have them sync to the right iCal calendar at the next iTunes sync (and then with google calendar via calaboration). Any ideas?? Thanks mucho.

Unfortunately, nuevasync does not yet support showing events from different calendars as different on the iphone. They say they are working on it. Here is a clip from their FAQ at http://www.nuevasync.com/faq.html
"*All my events are gray on my iPhone/iPod. Why?*
At present we sync all your Google events to the 'default' calendar on Apple devices. Therefore they are not colored and when you create new events on the device they are added to your default Google calendar. Our service was developed originally for devices that did not have multiple calendar support and we need to update it for the iPhone, which does."
This is not really an issue for me, but it would be nice if my wife's events could be colored differently from my own events. If this is important for you, another option is to use Calaboration to synch google calendar with iCal, and then just sync your iphone with iCal when you plug it into the computer. It's not over-the-air synchronization, but you're calendars should appear in different colors on your iphone. Probably just means you'd have to synch your phone with your computer every day to stay current.

After installing the 64 bit version of itunes my iphone still won't sync. I get the explantation that I mobile driver application did not download and i need to remove and reinstall itunes (which I have done numberous times).  Any help?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does your device connect without that message now?

Problem - I input a new event into my iPhone calendar and it does not update on my iMac or iPad calendars. I have loaded the latest software on all devices and have switched over to iCloud. Suggestions?

On the iMac open System Prerferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Calendars then reselect then restart the iMac.
On the iPad, tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Calendars off then back on then reset the iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Hopefully the event synced over all the devices.
