New facebook app not rotating on 1st gen iPad?

Tried reinstalling the new Facebook app, powering the iPad off and on.  Still will not rotate.  Was rotating disabled on the 1st gen iPad? My 3rd gen iPad still rotates.

  • ITunes on new Mac mini not recognizing my 1st gen iPod

I just got a new Mac mini. It has iTunes v6.0.4. My 1st generation iPod is v1.5. When I buy a song and attempt to transfer it from the 'Purchased' folder to my iPod, I'm getting an error message that says, 'Some of the songs in the iTunes music Library were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer.' Do I need to plug my iPod into the computer I was using before and click on 'Deauthorize Computer' before I try to use this one?

  • Books not syncing to 1st gen ipad after yosemite

I have a first generation ipad. I don't really use it for much EXCEPT ibooks. I just updated my computer to yosemite, successfully added some books to ibooks on my mac, and plugged in my ipad to sync them over. However in iTunes the new books don't even show up as a option to sync! What should I do? Is the ipad 1 just COMPLETELY obsolete? I can't even read on it??

Yes. That is what I've done. You can see that I want all of my books synced AND I have them sorted by date added.
But if you look at iBooks and sort it the same way, you can see that there are a ton more books here than are showing up in iTunes.

  • HT4623 Is update to ios6 or higher not available to 1st gen iPad?

My apps are now saying I need iOS 6 but iPad says I am up to date wios 5

5.1.1 is the highest possible for the iPad 1.

  • Shared Library not sharing certain movies or tv shows to 1st Gen iPad

I purchased Blu-Ray's that included the digital copy feature for a couple of movies including The Lord of the Rings, as well as Transformers 2. I was successfully able to regiser the movies in iTunes, download them, and they play them fine directly on the Mac where I downloaded them to.
I use the Shared Libraries feature to allow my iPhone 4S as well as a 1st generation iPad, and a 13' Macbook Air to access content stored on the Mac where I downloaded the movies in question.  The movies can be played fine via Shared Libraries on the iPhone 4s, the Macbook Air, but they are not even displayed in the Shared Libraries on the iPad. When I browse on the iPad, the movies do not appear in the library. However what is very odd is that other movies that I have purchased directly from iTunes do show up on the iPad - for example I bought Disney's Cars directly from the the iTunes store, and this one shows up fine on the iPad. I'm seeing this same content for several videos that shows up as "TV Shows" but don't display at all on the iPad.
    A few technical details:
The movies were downloaded using iTunes version 10.6.1 (7) to a 2012 Mac Mini running the Intel Core i7 CPU.
OSX 10.7.4 is installed on the Mac
iOS 5.1.1 is installed on the 1st Gen iPad and on the iPhone 4s
I find it quite odd that the videos play on every Apple device I own, and even a PC that is using the Shared Library but not on the 1st Gen Ipad.
    Any ideas?

Mmmm....OK, just deleted a movie that was already there, and the ones I imported suddenly appeared. And started to download a TV series from the iTunes store, and the imported ones appeared too....no idea what was going on, but all is how I want it now...iTunes must have got it's knickers in a twist!!

  • HT5457 New app upgrades put 1st gen Ipad users out in the cold - Recently DirecTV and The Blaze both upgraded their ipad apps so that only ios 6 and above were compatible - anyone who has a 1st gen ipad cannot upgrade to ios 6  - what is up with this Appl

So 1st gen ipad users are basiclly left out in the cold unless they go out an buy a new IPad - of course DTV and The Blaze are blaming Apple and Apple is blaming them - what is the deal Apple -  I pay for my subscription to The Blaze in order to have it on my IPad and now I can't even use it - same with DTV - so is Apple now forcing people to buy upgraded devices thru their apps that will no longer support the older generations - what a joke this is and bad business.

Unfortunately software always moves faster than hardware.
Apple's not going to change things. You can try talking to those two app developers and have them make their older versions available.

This is just a user to user forum, so there's nothing anyone here can do for you I'm afraid.

  • My facebook app went dark and had the word "waiting" below it and I can not delete so I downloaded a new facebook app which is ok but the old app is still there but now the word "waiting" is gone and still cannot delete.

My facebook app went dark and had the word "waiting" below it and I can not delete so I downloaded a new facebook app which is ok but the old app is still there but now the word "waiting" is gone and still cannot delete.

This is my boilerplate respone for the "waiting apps" problem. Give these suggestions a try in order.
    1. Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
    2. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    3. Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first.
    4. If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
    5. You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again. Apps may also be able to be deleted in Settings>General>Usage>Storage if you cannot get the X to pop up on the icon.
    6. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
    7. If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • Is the new Pages iOS 5 app compatible with 1st gen iPad?

Hello, I should point out that I have upgraded my iPad software to the new iOS 5 version.  I just saw in the Apps store since the new Pages update a few days ago, that some people are complaining about incompatibility for the 1st gen iPad.  Any truth to that before I purchase?
    Thanks!
    -Jack

    Hello All,
Guess what?  Yes indeed the newly updated Pages works perfectly with the 1st gen iPad like what I've got.  And documents do, in fact, work in either portrait or landscape mode automatcially as you turn your iPad.  Apparently, you should first update to the new iOS5 before you install the new Pages.
    Thought I'd throw that out,
    -Jack
P.S.  Pages is fantastic on the iPad and especially when it's hooked up with the Apple wireless keyboard.

  • Updated 1st gen iPad, unable to access apps.

I recently updated my 1st gen iPad and my pictures and music seems to have transferred but none of my apps did. I can see them but cannot open them, they are dark in appearance as they look before they have completed downloading. I accessed the app store and was able to download a new app...

I plugged in my ipad and ITunes says "iTunes was interrupted while restoring the contents of the iPad. Would you like to retore this iPad again now?". I pressed continue restore and a message came up that says "An error occurred while restoring this iPad (-1)". Im not sure where to go from here, or how to "unsync" and "resync".

  • How can I move music from my 1st gen iPad to my new 3rd gen iPad

How can I move all the music on my 1st gen iPad to my new 3rd gen ipad?

Transfer the music into iTunes on your computer and then sync the new iPad with iTunes.
Or download all of the purchased music on the new iPad. You can download the songs again for free  in the Purchased Tab of the iTunes App  as long as you use the same Apple ID that you used to buy the songs with originally.

  • Trouble with loading videos - Manually manage music and videos not supported now with iOS5 and a 1st gen iPad?

Since updating my iPad 1st gen to iOS5.0.1 videos don't get loaded properly into the Videos app.
On the Summary page in iTunes of my docked iPad, I have always checked the box for "Manually manage music and videos".
I have my reasons for doing it this way, but that's for another thread perhaps.
The problem is that when I load a video to my iPad this way - by simply just dragging it from the desktop and onto the iPad, under Devices in iTunes - it copies/updates, and shows up on the iPad like it always has before iOS5. But now, with iOS5, when I undock, it can't be found anywhere within the Videos app on the iPad. The only way I can find it is to do a Search, which seems to find it, but when I click it, a different video plays - the first video in the Movies list in the Video app. Dock the iPad again, yes the video is there, according to iTunes, but no way to play it once iPad is undocked.
My suspicion is that with iOS5 you are no longer able to use the "Manually manage music and videos (Mmm&v)" that you will be forced to run everything through iTunes - and probably iCloud. I've unchecked the Mmm&v box, and get prompted with "Are you sure? - All existing content on the iPad will be replaced with content from your iTunes library". READ - "Rebuild your entire video and music collection, and this time run it all through iTunes. Welcome to iOS5. Have a nice day or two wasting your time rebuilding your entire video and music collection. Don't fight it. Use iTunes for everything! Until we finally make iTunes a decent piece of digital media management software, then you'll have to do it all again."
Okay, rant over - Anyone out there with running iOS5 on a 1st gen iPad with the Mmm&v option checked and able to load a video manually (not through iTunes)? Any other thoughts?
    Thanks

Yea, i managed to fix my issue in a wild fashion way But I DONT suggest it to anyone.
I like to hear why it happened after upgrading iTunes and if there is any peaceful solution.
Bythe way, here is how i fixed it :
1-i checked "manually manage music and videos" checkbox and clicked on "Sync" button
2-It showed a threating message that it will erase my music and videos ,......
3-I clicked on OK button and let iTunes do any thing she said , but the second it started to delete my treasures from my iphone, i disconnected my phone by pulling USB cable.
Now i have my musics and videos untouched and got that Option enabled again and i can manage my Music/Videos and Books manually.

  • HT5457 iPad 1 is a lot newer than iPhone 3GS. It has the A4 chip! Why no IOS 6 for the 1st gen. iPad?

iPad 1 is a lot newer than iPhone 3GS. It has the A4 chip! Why no IOS 6 for the 1st gen. iPad?

quite surprised it suggests that iPhone 3gs s more powerful than the iPad1? iphone 3gs is supported. something is fishy. i don't want to fall out of love with apple products. looks like it's a business decision to cut support for iPad 1 - not technical shortcoming. if apple cut support for 3gs they will upset customers who just bought 3gs before iphone 5 was launched.... tsk tsk tsk.. i'm not from US. hope to see a class action suit by US peeps to resolve this...

  • I have a new 1st Gen ipad and cant get my computer to recognize in devices in itunes or

My old ipad was replaced from the apple store with a new 1st gen ipad.  I plugged it into 2 different computers (windows 7 and windows 8) and it was not recognized by the computers or itunes.  I updated to the newest itunes on both machines.  The ipad is charging but it only shows a "connect to itunes" icon.  Please help.

When the AirPort Extreme is in DHCP and NAT mode, it is the product that is controlling the number of devices that can connect to your network......which is around 200.
When the AirPort Extreme is in Bridge Mode....it is your "modem" that is controlling the number of devices that will be allowed to connect to the network. Your modem is not really a modem, it is a modem/router or gateway type of device.
If everything seems to work OK with the AirPort Extreme in DHCP and NAT mode, you do have the option to click to "ignore" the Double NAT error, and the AirPort Extreme will display a green light.
Double NAT occurs when there are two devices...your "modem" and the AirPort Extreme....on the network and both of them are trying to control DHCP and NAT at the same time. Normally, you only want one device on a network providing DHCP and NAT service.
In order for your modem and AirPort Extreme to work correctly, it is the "modem" that needs to be set up in Bridge Mode, so the AirPort Extreme will supply DHCP and NAT services for up to 200 devices.
That may, or may not be easy to do, and your ISP may not support your "modem" in that type of setup.
It is up to you to decide whether you want to try to set things up correctly, or leave well enough alone.

  • My 1st gen iPad is not recognized in iTunes, help!  I have uninstalled, reinstalled, stoped and started the mobile....nothing is working.

I have done everything I can find online to solve my problem, but I still have the same problem.  My 1st gen iPad is not recognized in iTunes!  Cannot sync!  Please, any suggestions from anyone?  Anyone else having the same problem?

    Hello casinojen,
I would be concerned as well if my iPad was not recognized by iTunes.  Thank you for providing all the information with the steps you took in regards to this issue.  I found an article with a few more steps you can take (you can skip the steps you have already taken):
