New FCE for Universal?

Does anyone know the release date for the new FCE Universal software. I just got a new iMac g5 with intel processor (my new (just bought in 12/05)) iMacG5 died already so apple gave me a new one, but FCE does not work on it quite yet. Am getting anxious..

You might like to try the workarounds on this post until the new version arrives:-

  • Should i get the new macbook for university?

    Hello,
i am looking for a suitable laptop for assignments and Uni workload.
is the new MacBook suitable for university life and worth it? I find it really easy to bring anywhere since it weights only 0.92 kg (2.03 pounds). Yet, I also find that the new MacBook is more to people who want their laptop to look as stylish as they can and not really suitable for students since the storage is inadequate and we have loads of assignments. I don't really know about gadgets, all I know is that I want a laptop that is easy to carry everywhere and has enough storage.
So, between the new MacBook and 13-inch macbook pro with retina display, which one is more suitable, and most importantly, worth for uni student?
    Thank you!

512Gb of storage should be adequate. The issues with the Macbook vs the Retina Macbook Pro (aside from excessive cost) seem to be
    1. Slower processor so cannot handle video editing and the like as well
    2. Single USB-C port so you will need adapters for all types of output (VGA, HDMI, USB...)
    3. Slightly smaller screen size
I am seriously considering it for travel due to the minimal size and weight. As for students ...

    Hello,
Thank you for the reply. However, since this is a state institution, we have to use Dell as our supplier, and that card is unavailable.
I am trying to marshal a case that this system is a good solution for 5+ years, but I anticipate some questions as to the cost, and that this system is too powerful for the students needs, though when thinking of the powerful software we run and the need for these systems to be viable for 5+ years, it seems like a reasonable configuration.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Richard

  • New URL for PieroF FCE Effects

Since a few days ago, the site where I make some FCE and FCP plugins available for free, has changed its URL. The new URL is:
    http://web.mac.com/piero.fiorani/PieroFFCEEffect/Welcome.html
You can still access all my plugins, either from the Welcome page or after you change each "%20" char into "_" in their URL, AND remove "iWeb/" from the URL.
Note. That's correct: the site has changed its URL... I did not change its URL ! This seems a new feature for iWeb (in iLife 08) which maps "blank" characters in the web page names into "_" and not "%20". While I personally like this solution, I didn't like the automatic renaming of all my pages (without warning or request for confirmation) since this made them immediately unavailable to whoever knew the old name...
In any case let me know if you still have problems accessing those plugins.
    Sorry...
    Piero
Thanks Tom: in fact redirection works, but to the Welcome page only.

Thanks for letting us Piero. The old link still works though. You just get redirected to the new URL name.

  • Macbook Air Or Pro For University.

I was just wondering which laptop would be better for university.
I love the macbook air and how it is so light and portable, but in saying that, I keep thinking that a macbook pro would be better as it has more GHZ.
I plan to do a Bachalor Of Business and/or Bachalor Of Information Technology.
I hardly ever use a CD drive and never make videos or use my current computer for photography editing.
    Plese help me choose.

Here's a comparison of the two.

  • 1Z0-050  Oracle 11g New Features for Administrators

Which release are the exam 1Z0-050 - Oracle 11g New Features for Administrators, release 1 or release 2?
I need to study Oracle University Material Release 1 or Release 2?

    Hi,
    I have a question too.
I am 10g certified and looking to take the 11g New Features For Administrators course in the new year.
Previously when I certifed from 8i to 9i and then to 10g it was only required to take the exam and the course was optional although my company sends me anyway.
Looking on Oracles website it seems to be that to do the 11g New Features you now have also have to attend another instructor led course. I have posted a link.
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getlppage?page_id=212&path=DBAU
Can someone confirm if this is the case and that Oracle have changed the format of the New Features upgrade path,
    cheers

  • Which Apple laptop is most appropriate for university students?

I just purchased a 15.4" MacBook Pro for university, which I am starting for the first time in the fall. After having received it however I have my doubts if I chose the right one - weight and size being some of my biggest concerns, along with battery life. The model I have has a 2.53 GHz i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 500 GB ATA drive @ 7200 rpm and a hi-res antiglare display. I believe going down to the 13" would also mean going to a lower resolution, glossy display which I have concerns about.
I will be majoring in English, taking for the most part humanities and arts classes, so my computer needs for school would be mostly word processing and presentations - I will be purchasing either iWork or Office to use. I will watch movies and TV shows from time to time, but I don't think the smaller screen size would bother me as I watch them all the time on my iPod touch. I have a fairly extensive music collection and have photos and home videos as well.
As well, after my four-year English degree I will be getting a Masters degree in book publishing, which will require becoming familiar with Adobe Creative Suite 5. I won't be working with these programs in the next four years, but after that my computer will need to be able to handle working with the Suite.
I would be extremely grateful for any opinions - switch to the less powerful but more portable 13", or stick with the 15"?

I appreciate your dilemma. I recently bought a new 15" MBP to replace an older one. While making decisions, I wondered about the smaller screen (size/weight) but stuck with the 15" as it is easier to work with.
You can add to any of the notebooks with an extra monitor (not too dear these days) for graphics work when needed; and as you have arts courses the screen area may help with better appreciation of any works you view.
As regards presentations, the medium of the presentation display is a large screen, but the resolution and size are limited by the projector (using Displays Preferences you can play with this for the best display). Colours also are changed by these devices, so it would be worth taking time to calibrate.
The main reason I would suggest that you make no change for now is that you already have this computer in your hands. Switching now would need data transfers and a (relatively small) learning curve. The machine specs are a bit above what most university students have or need in my opinion, but changing now would cost you (unless you can get a good deal) and there is the data question (above). The power requirements of the Adobe product also suggest the current machine is a better bet (although in 4 years time I would be thinking of a change anyway). Stay with the 15"

  • Macbook Pro versus Air for university student (pharmacy)

    Hey everyone,
So I love all my Apple products, and I plan to get some sort of Mac laptop for university in a few weeks. I'm going to be a pharmacy student at UBC, (so I'm not going into design or video graphics or anything) I basically want a fast, reliable computer that will last the extent of my Bachelor's degree, I really don't want to be replacing one every year or so. Battery life is somewhat important. I'm trying to decide between the MacBook Pro, (the $1200 one?) and the newer Macbook Air, (about $1200 as well?).
    Any input is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks guys.

I'd agree with Kappy, especially if buying for a long haul like a 3 or 4 year degree program.  A MBP is the better choice.
And don't necessarily feel that pharmacy won't have its own computationally intensive aspects either.  Large databases, especially chemical and drug structural databases and such, can be fairly tasking in terms of cpu use and RAM and harddrive space.
Don't forget your education discount options - http://www.apple.com/ca/buy/hied/ and ask at the UBC bookstore if they offer any machines with 3year AppleCare options (some educational institutions can do this for machines purchased through them - gives you 4 years of total warranty coverage).
    P.S. I did my M.Sc. at U.Vic in the 1990's - I loved the west coast!

  • Access Oracle 10g OLAP Analytic Worspace from BOE XI for Universes creating

    Hi skilled!
Is there any environment to access  Oracle 10g OLAP Analytic Worspace
from BOE XI (not from BOE XIR2) for Universes creating ?
    Thank you.

    Hello Walter,
    Thanks for the response.
I'm using the following SAP GUI: 710 Final Release, Version 7100.2.7.1038, Build 971593, Patch-Level 7.
Trying to install the Desktop part of the integration kit results in the follwoing message: Unable to perform Desktop installation. The installation is unable to proceed with a desktop installation because Crystal Reports 2008 was not detected. To perform a Desktop installation, it must be installed.
Without having installed any integration kit on the client side, I can still see the data access driver for SAP Business Warehouse 3.x in the Universe Designer (when trying to define a new connection). After providing the respective parameters, however, a connection is not established successfully. When testing the connection it just tells me that the connection trial failed (SBO0001), without providing any further details.
What do you think, is the problem? The SAP GUI? Is it at all required for my purposes (generating OLAP universes in Designer from SAP BI) to install the integration kit on the client side? As far as I have read, it is?
    Thanks, Konrad
