  • SBH-52 Apt-X Audio Codec Support

    Hi,
Is there any chance that we can see Apt-X Audio Codec support via a firmware upgrade on SBH-52 ? Just like the recently announced SBH-80 which supports Apt-X.
    Thanks,
    Tarkan

    Hi.
I would like to know too if it supports Apt-X.
It is not in the specs, but review here:
    http://homenetworking01.info/2014/05/product-reviewsony-sbh-52-bluetooth-headphone-adaptor/
says it have AptX. So maybe a firmware update added that?
I also have Smartband SWR10 and BM10 is on the way, so i hope all this could work together in various locations.
    Thanks.

  • Add USB audio codec to input mixer?

    Hi
I have an audigy with XP SP3. I have bought a USB turntable which came with no drivers but connects to USB. I would expect to somehow be able to add the USB codec into the mixer so I can listen to the turntable without using any other program but I cant seem to add the USB port to the recording mixer.
I can only hear the turntable when I run audacity and select USB input and Soundblaster output.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    Steve

My guess is that OS X gets that name from the driver of that Device itself. If that is the case, then you can't rename it. This is the same problem with various MIDI devices that are displayed in Logic with the weirdest names.
    However,
you can use a trick if you really want to rename a device so when you open GarageBand it says "My beloved Device". Create an Aggregate Device in the Audio MIDI utility with only that one device. The advantage is that you can rename an Aggregate Device - Voila.
    Hope that helps

  • DPT-S1 Feature Add Request: Browser to Support "file://" Protocol

The DPT-S1 can already display image files such as *.jpg and *.gif, and text files such as *.txt, ... and who knows what else because those capabilities are needed to display *.htm(l) files anyhow.
So, it is already possible to view image and text files on the machine ... so long as they are accessed via the  "http://"  protocol.
If you just add  "file://"  protocol support to the browser, then it could read image, text, and other files stored on the machine itself ... a big step forward from the current limitation to  *.pdf  for local files.
To be clear: the browser ALREADY can display image and text files, and of course the machine's file system can store them.  So why not just add  "file://"  support, so we can use the browser to view a much wider variety of files on the machine itself.
    Thanks!

Hi, at this time NM only can scan inside your local subnet, but that sounds like a good idea.
    My Cisco Network Magic Configuration:
Router: D-Link WBR-2310 A1 FW:1.04, connected to Comcast High Speed Internet
Desktop, iMac: NM is on the Windows Partition, using Boot camp to access Windows, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit RTM, Broadcom Wireless N Card, McAfee Personal Firewall 2009,
Mac Partition of the iMac is using Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard
Laptop: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG, McAfee Personal Firewall 2008
Please note that though I am a beta tester for Network Magic, I am not a employee of Linksys/Cisco and am volunteering my time here to help other NM users.

  • 5 New Features that Edge Animate should support

I have 5 requests for a future release of Edge Animate:
    01. Allow us to import entire Photoshop files with the individual layers intact and "stacked" correctly in Edge to speed up production
    02. Support Z depth layer transform for 3D projection and 2.5D animation purposes
    03. Include dynamic filters such as lens blur, glow, and other After Effects type filters that the user can apply to any given layer in Edge...also make the filter properties animatable
    04. Be able to directly import .MOV, H.264, .FLV, and .WMV video files instead of writing code that references a video from a different location
    05. Support dynamic masking in Edge for any given layer and make the masking properties animatable
    Thanks!
    -Russ

For 3 and 5 the limitation isn't really the cpu. The limitation is the spec. Edge Animate is attempting to work within the HTML5, CSS3 and javascript specifications. That way when you create an edge animation it should play nicely across all modern browsers. One of the great things about using a plug-in like Flash is that any of that missing code sould be provided by the plug-in and we weren't limited by waiting for the browser to support it.
That said, I keep seeing more and more amaziing things done with javascipt. And there is already some limited filter support svg images (on some browsers) So maybe soft, feathered masks, blurs,  glows, and ink effects (add, lighten, multiply) will arrive sooner rather than later.

  • New update adds third-party remote support. I could use mine already!

    I am a little confused.
    Appletell states-
"The update also allows users to use third party remotes with their Apple TV, which has been a long standing request from many users"
This is saying, to me, that you can use a third-party remote to control TV functions.
If that's the case, I have been doing that ever since I got it, using my universal remote for all my tv-connected devices including my TV (I got it to learn the Apple remotes signals). Could someone please elaborate on this?

It's not really for universal remotes - which normally come with a database of codes to use with a wide variety of devices. It's for the remotes that can normally control another device - for example:
My Samsung TV remote has the ability to control a Samsung DVD player. Although i haven't got the DVD player, the buttons are on the remote anyway (Play, Pause, Fast Forward, etc).
I can now map those buttons the the ATV - in fact i gave it a go and it worked fine. However, i've put that back in the cupboard as i have a universal remote like you thats been doing it for ages.
    Cheers

  • Does new updates add Vista 64 bit support?

    Any word on that?

I just noticed they updated the system requirements:
    Windows Requirements
    * Windows XP or 32-bit editions of Windows Vista
It used to not specify 32-bit. Now that they are being specific though, does that mean it works with 64-bit XP??

  • Opus codec Support?

Anyone know any status for opus codec support in the native end users flash player?
Been very curious, impressed with test results of my own,  and excited about this:
    http://www.opus-codec.org

I believe Adobe will be considering integrating the Opus Codec very soon into the ActionScript runtime. To help move along the priority of this feature, I would suggest that anybody else interested in this should go to to bugbase and add your votes so that Adobe will move up the priority.

  • New Opus codec support?

Will iTunes support playing or converting music to the new open source "Opus" codec? The codec has many advantages compared to AAC and MP3 and it is royalty free. It could be used easily in podcasts but also implemented in the iTunes store for better quality.
This shows comparisons of Opus against other audio standards http://www.opus-codec.org/comparison/
"Opus can handle a wide range of audio applications, including Voice over IP, videoconferencing, in-game chat, and even remote live music performances. It can scale from low bit-rate narrowband speech to very high quality stereo music. Supported features are:
Bit-rates from 6 kb/s to 510 kb/s  ---That 's even lower than AAC or mp3 go and nearly 2x the max bitrates of each, it's nearly as good as lossless cd/DVD quality!--
Sampling rates from 8 kHz (narrowband) to 48 kHz (fullband)
Frame sizes from 2.5 ms to 60 ms
Support for both constant bit-rate (CBR) and variable bit-rate (VBR)
Audio bandwidth from narrowband to full-band
Support for speech and music  --- can be used in podcasts and music--
    Support for mono and stereo
Support for up to 255 channels (multistream frames)
Dynamically adjustable bitrate, audio bandwidth, and frame size
Good loss robustness and packet loss concealment (PLC)
    Floating point and fixed-point implementation"
Here are some reference and news links:
    Opus codec website:
    http://www.opus-codec.org/
    http://gigaom.com/2012/09/11/opus-audio-codec-ietf/
    https://hacks.mozilla.org/2012/09/its-opus-it-rocks-and-now-its-an-audio-codec-s tandard/

    Hopefully.
Opus does have formal industry standardization through IETF (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6716).
According to IETF's new "mandatory-to-implement" idea, Opus would be required in the future for browsers supporting the WebRTC. It's not clear how effective the mandatory-to-implement directives will be, but if Apple goes along with it, Opus would probably wind up as a QuickTime component and available in a number of applications.
I highly doubt you'll see Apple selling or using Opus files however.

  • New feature aso plan type under planning V11.1.2.3

    HI all,
I notice than there new feature under planning.
the ability to create ASO plan type under planning.
but in documentation i don't understand if this part is not available under planning licence .
is this new feature involde to purchase new licence on essbase and in this case we have application user wich licence is needed (cpu) ?
    can some one help?
on URL Introduction - Oracle EPM System 11.1.2.3 Documentation Library
    extract of
    Oracle Hyperion Planning New Features
    HTML
    Aggregate Storage Option Support
Administrators can now add an aggregate storage option (ASO) database to a Planning application using Planning application administration.
Administrators can create an ASO plan type during application creation, or they can add a new plan type using the new plan type editor. See Plan Type Editor. Write back to ASO cubes within Planning is supported.
    Note:
To use ASO databases in Planning, you must have the required license.
    on doc I
Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Licensing Guide
    PDF
Essbase Plus cannot be used to create Essbase cubes that do not
contain data used by the Hyperion Planning Plus application.
l The Aggregate Storage Option component of Essbase Plus may not
    be used.

You also need the Essbase license to be able to use that functinality, probably best discussing with your Oracle account manager for the full details.

  • Mp4 converted video file is missing audio codec

I have several avi. files on my computer which were converted to mp4. using videora software. A few of these converted mp4. files then had no audio when I tried to play them on my Ipod. I am confused as to how to add the audio codec back into the video files. Do I have to install this to avi. then convert to mp4., or is there some audio codec which will apply directly to mp4. so they do not have to be reconverted? What is the procedure at this point? Thanks for your help in advance.

First thing to do is find out if Videora supports whatever audio codec the AVI uses.
If it supposedly does, write it off as one of the many bugs with videora and get a different transcoder that supports the audio codec.
Outside of having good knowledge of video production and the right tools-there is no easy way to do what you want.

  • Where do I find USB Audio codec in OSX 10.6.8?

I need this for a Pyle USB tape deck (PT-659DU). Audacity is the only program that can be used with this deck and they show clearly how to use Audacity with     USB PnP devices,as this deck is one. This screenshot shows what I need to do.(find the USB Audio codec, and get it to show in the Audio setup in Sound
    Prefs.

My last post to myself is wrong.I received a response from Audacity with USB audio Codecs support for Mac OSX on intel Macs.
    Apple Developer Technotes link below.
On 22 February 2015 at 15:34, Ross Wright wrote:
My only question is,was he using a Powermac G3,G4 or G5 PowerPC based computer to show the USB audio codec installed? Mac Intel with OSX does not have USB audio codec in it's sound codecs anymore, nor does it support this codec anymore for usb record recorders & Tape recorders.
    From Audacity:
Sorry, but that is just not true:
    https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/technotes/tn2274/_index.html .
It must be PPC only to work with Audacity.Ask any user with problems finding this codec to install and you will find they have an intel based Mac.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Add to your list of unsupported Cassette players. Pyle PT-659DU. There will be other models similar to this one with the same issue.I had to go analog RCA to work properly with Audacity.
    See:  http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/User:BillWharrie/OSX_and_USB_input_devices
Pyle devices most likely just use the Mac's USB audio class driver as above.
However if your device's manual says you need to install a special driver for
    Mac, you should do that.
In many cases, it's as simple as replacing the USB cable.

  • New Feature in Cp 3?

    On this web page (
    http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/productinfo/upgrade/)
I saw that Cp3 has a new feature:
"Easily synchronize audio with slides and timed objects with
    real-time preview"
Can anyone tell me how to access this in Cp3? I don't see
    anything different than Cp2.

    Hi Keith
In Captivate 2 you didn't have any ability to watch the slide
play out as you recorded the audio. In Captivate 3, you do.
To see this, click Audio > Record and choose either:
    * This slide
    * Project
    * From this slide
Notice how you see a preview image of the slide above the
Caption and Slide Notes. We didn't have that capability in
    Captivate 2.
    Cheers... Rick
