Hello!
I am interested, which features are provided starting with Sap Web AS 7.00 and 7.10, generally as well as special for both runtimes
in ABAP-area (e.g. VM in ABAP, Code-completion)
in Java-area (e.g. J2EE 1.4/1.5, Portlets, Comunication mechanisms JRA/JCO, bgRFC)
DB-API-???

Also note that MySAP Business Suite is also the part of WAS7.0 release.
For Java stack new features have been added to Netweaver Developer Studio,EP and KM areas.Also BI-Java is also the part of WAS7.0 Release.

Does Session Sharing feature provided by SAP Net Weaver application server

Session Sharing is an additional feature provided by Tomcat , Weblogic and Web sphere application servers.
Is this feature available in SAP Net Weaver application server?
Brief description on Session Sharing
Session Sharing specifies whether HTTP sessions are shared across multiple Web applications.
In Weblogic this is an optional feature customizable in weblolgic-application.xml

Hi,
You cannot set up Garbage collection frequency. it is internally handled by Java when the Heap size is filled up.
You can always fine tune your server to SAP recommendations.
Note 723909 is a good starting point.
Also other checks include that you use SAP recommended Java versions, OS patches and also that you have enough physical memory.

Missing / deleted history - 'New and improved' releases add new features, improved (?) function, but eliminate some options and browsing history...

This has been a problem ever since updating from Firefox 8 to FF 10. I noticed that there was about a month missing from my history after that update. Checking my settings in 'about:config', there was no change in 'browser.history_expire_days_min' or 'browser.history_expire_days.mirror'. The value has been set at '720' ever since installing FF 3.6 over three years ago.
Admittedly, I don't install new updates the moment they become available... However, every time that I've installed an update, more and more of my history simply vanishes. Not a few days or weeks, mind you. but 3, 6, and even 9 months of history GONE!
I just don't understand why this option was eliminated from Privacy Preferences, forcing users to tinker with the settings in 'about:config' instead. Since users are given a warning before going on to the settings page, why would any programmer think this is a good alternative to the Preferences pane???
Now I'm down to history for February and March of this year... You can bet that I'm not going to be updating to any new releases for a very long time, if ever.
It seems that 'software bloat' isn't a 'Microsoft-only' disease...
New 'features' + 'improved' perfomance = New demands for disk space + improved glitches...
Frankly, I'm getting sick of this...

Not sure if it is relevant but the structure of the places.sqlite database changed recently, and jumping all the way from fx3.6 to fx18 or 19 could conceivably have been a factor. It is best to keep Firefox up-to-date.
Glad at least that you keep backups.
History backups are slightly problematic, because if the places.sqlite database is backed up and restored to an old copy the bookmarks then regress. As you will be aware already, Firefox itself makes no History backups, and has no facility to restore History only.

Need help on sap web ui component BT115H_SLSO and BT115IT_SLSO

I have enhanced compoent BT115H_SLSO , overview view(BT115H_SLSO/SOHOverView ) and redefined method EH_ONSAVE. In the sales order overview screen (BT115H_SLSO/SOHOverView ) items assignment block level i added one check box . When the user saving the data popup is raising and user clicks ,for example say "YES", then the check box should select from the items .How to update the check box in the bol .I am not able to get BTAdminI from the item component BT115IT_SLSO .
I have tried to get the BTAdminI from compoent conteroller of BT115H_SLSO ,but it is initial(I observed in the debugging).
Please help me how to write the logic form different compoenents.

Hi,
Use the following relations to gett the BtadminI object from BtOrder.
Btorder->BTOredrHeader->BtHeaderItemsExt->BtOrderItemsAll.
After gettign Btorder,you have to call emthod get_related_entities( iv_relation_name = 'BtOrderHeader' ).
This will retrun a collection of Bol entities.Get the current entity from this collection and again call the same method but use the next relation this time ie BtHeaderItemsExt,and so on,
The entity that you get after the last relation i s the collection of BtadminI entities.
Please check the exact relation names from BOL model browser.Use the same hierarchy of relation to goto the correct object.

System Refresh Process of SAP Web AS 6.20 in BW env

We are in the process to refresh our BQA system from the offline backup copy of BPR(Production server). We did it number of times in 4.6 R/3 server successfully in past. We used the oracle backup/restore method for refresh process in R/3. The same oracle backup/restore method we used for BW refresh. But this method is not able to change the schema name in tablespace (in BQA system, tablespace are like PSAPBQAFACT and in BP1 , it is PSAPBP1FACT). Seems to me this is not the right method to refresh SAP Web AS 6.20 and above systems.
Could anyone pls suggest the right documents or if someone has the procedure for refresh process of SAP Web AS 6.20, pls confirm.

- No, I don't want to provide the result of a Web Service as a Web Service. Maybe I was quite unclear... :/ What I meant was:
I want my Web Service to return a table (the result comes in the structure of a table). How do I define the Out-parameter in transaction se37 to accomplish this? Right now the best solution I got was to construct an array of strings (like the ZZVALUES int array in the example) where each position of the array, is a string that has the various fields of the table i want to return concatenated.
I'm able to retrieve the array in Visual Studio .NET 2003 client, and separate the fields (to fill a table again with them). If I could just return the table from SAP and receive it in .NET would be much more simpler.

Client authentication in PI when SAP Web dispatcher terminates SSL

PI Security Experts,
Here is our design for Third-party Peoplesoft system initiating SOAP Call to PI Web Service created on our PI server.
1) Third-party Peoplesoft Application server initiates a SOAP call.
2) Third-party Network Gateway has a URL server certificate from our gateway and our gateway server has a root certificate from the CA used by third-party gateway. this will be used to establish the SSL tunnel between gateway.
3) SOAP request in our network will be routed through load balancer to SAP web dispatcher.
4) SAP web dispatcher terminates SSL connection
5) We will generate client cert for authentication and pass it onto third-party which they will load onto their PeopleSoft application server. SOAP call initiating from the PeopleSoft server will pass the client cert along with the message (My understanding is that the client cert will not be a part of SOAP message body. Ina other words we are not implementing message-level security. Is that true? How will the client cert be passed? How and where will a client attach the client cert with message?My understanding is that this is a network layer security and client certificate will be authenticated on PI J2ee server at SSL protocol level..Is my understanding correct?)
6) We will also load client certificate generated for client onto J2EE server using Visual Admin and map it to PI user for authentication.
7) SAP web dispatcher terminates SSL and passes the SOAP message to PI (J2EE) along with client cert in a http header variable.
There is some conflicting SAP documents. some say that client cert can't be used for PI authentication if Web Dispatcher terminates SSL connection (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/ea/301e3e6217b40be10000000a114084/frameset.htm). There is some other documents that say that authentication using client cert is possible by having J2EE trusting Web Dispatcher and by passing client cert from Web Dispatcher to J2EE in a httpheader variable (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/ea/301e3e6217b40be10000000a114084/content.htm).
Now if client cert authentication is possible even if Web dispatcher terminates SSL, what cert do we need on J2EE, a cert from Web dispatcher or a client cert that's coming in from the client appication (the one that we created and provided to our third-party)?
If we install a cert from web dispatcher on J2EE then do we need a client cert on Web dispatcher instead of on J2EE? If so how and where do we map client cert to PI User?
I will really appreciate any advise on whether we are going down the right path and any pointers to my questions.

Regarding message level you can encrypt the message using certificates.
For both of this basis team has to deploy the releavant certificates in XI ABAP Stack or Java stack.
Generally if the scenarios are intra company we dont use any transport level or message level security since the network is already secured.

Firstly, I completely agree with Nicks comments and in any case the original question was Best Practice and desgin phase not technical "how to" implemenation.

Actually, overall the decisions are normally made for you as a basic project requirement eg. Constraint: Users need to access Portal from a web link in intranet site secured by Netegrity without reauthentication. So as mentioned above its usually a pure SSO constraint. Thereafter it is more of 'How best' and what are the technical limitations. Otherwise there is no real need to make life more difficult. Could you describe why you are having to make this feasability study?
Since Netegrity is an external component, Performance will never be a reason to include Netegrity as it only adds complexity. The performance impact will depend on agent configuration and policies and size of Netegrity infrastructure etc. This needs to be evaluated with the Netegrity team based on the estimated number of concurrent users/requests etc. Concrete info will not be possible unless you do a load test with / without Netegrity and compare results.
Security aspects have to be looked at across the whole spectrum based on the local environment and requirements. Netegrity is complementary to WAS security but can actually reduce security eg. If basic header authentication is configured without additional checks. It also may or may not be required to cover requests to back end systems.
Take a look at the SAP security guide.
If you are still unsure of how best to proceed you may need to get specialist assistance as I doubt someone will be able/willing to provide the detail you require without some kind of intervention.

As for the J2EE specs, both SAP Web AS 640 (NW04) and SAP Web AS 700 (NW04s) are J2EE 1.3 compliant, and both are currently released. The next version which will be out sometime next year NW2007 is planned to be JEE 5 compliant.

Data storage on a SAP WEB AS cluster environment

We are using the SAP WEB AS 7.0 and I'm facing a problem with a single sign on (SSO) in a clustered environment.
The SSO works like this:
1. On an application outside of our WEB AS (Customer Application) a user logs on and an object called Token is send to a servlet on our application on the WEB AS (Internal Application). This Token is saved within the servlet context and contains data of the user.
2. If the user then decides to call our Internal Application, he clicks a link on the Customer Application and a second Token is send to our Internal Application. A new session in our Internal Application will be created and a search in the servlet context for the first Token for this user starts. If the first Token is found, the data from the second token will be matched with the first token.
This works fine in a single node environment. But in a clustered environment the Token objects will be spread among all server nodes because each server node holds its own servlet context. And there is my question: How can I store the first Token object, so that I can reach the data within other session from every other server node?
Sticky sessions are not an option, because this SSO works asynchronous and we have a session for the first Token and another session for the second Token. There are up to 800 concurrent users and the time difference between the first and the second token can be milliseconds. So Im afraid storage in the database would not work either.
I hope someone can help me with that.

Hi Nora,
When you persist the information you need in the database, you don't have a problem with multiple server nodes. Simply create a CMP EJB ("Container Managed Persistence") that holds everything you need for your single sign on. You just have to keep in mind hat you need something that does a cleanup for the data you stored in the database...
As far as I know, there is no way to deal with this issue without using a persistency layer.

Invoking a SAP web service from Dreamweaver MX

I am trying to invoke a SAP web service from ColdFusion and it looks like ColdFusion does not even recognize the rfc generated wsdl file as a wsld file. I have tried other wsdl url's outside my company and they work...so I know that web services at least work in ColdFusion. Can anyone advise on this topic?

I suppose you're using CFINVOKE (http://www.activsoftware.com/code_samples/code.cfm/CodeID/44/ColdFusion/Invoking_SOAP_Web_Services_with_ColdFusion_MX_CFINVOKE_Tag) or are you using a third party tool like CFX_SOAP (http://www.activsoftware.com/products/productdetail.cfm/id/1015)?
Are you working with WebAS 6.4 or 6.2?

The WSDL generated by this method is more standard than the one generated when you just Remote enable an FM and look at the webservice browser.
Th core of CF MX is Java and that engine is rather strict in standards.

"Missing" new features in Amber?

Some customers have posted about new features which seem to be absent from their phones after the Amber update.
FM Radio
This is a new feature for Lumia 520, 521, 720, 820, 920 and 925. You will find Radio as a new option in Music and Videos, see the screen shot below, it will not appear as a separate app in your app list.
FM Radio is not available in Lumia 620, 810 and 928 as these models do not have all of the necessary hardware.
Double-Tap and Glance Screen
These are features first require an updated version of "Display+Touch", you should be offered this as a suggested app update by the Microsoft Store app or Store live tile shortly after updating. If you haven't seen the notification yet, you can search the store for the app and download the update directly.
Also, please note that these features are not switched on by default:
Double-tap to awaken (Not available on Lumia 520, 521, 620 or 720) - go to Settings>Display+Touch, slide sideways to "Double-Tap" and tap the tick-box.
Glance screen (not available on 520/521) - go to Settings>Display+Touch, slide sideways to "Glance" and choose "Peek" for display when you hand is held over the phone (this option used the proximity sensor), "Timed" for a fifteen minute display of the Glance screen after the phone locks or "Always on".

For phones at about 25% the price of an iPhone these models hold their own pretty well. I find the remarks here quite laughable and hilarious. You buy a budget phone, where technical and hardware compromises have to be made to bring cost down. The notion you paid for features which become available at a later date for some models is just ridiculous and childish.
I refuse to believe anyone with a sane mind would go beserk over a trivial feature not available to them. Good luck with your double tap to wake feature on your iPhone.. oh wait.. Android then.. damn again..
