Hi,
first of all thank you for your effort to provide this feature in 7.00.
We are running 7.00 SP22 on Unix (Sun Solaris). I was able to deploy the zip-files of the Xcelsius example components using flash component manager and use the controls in the storyboard, but when running the application nothing happens (e.g. passed value to the input port of the gauge control, but component is always showing 50%).
Is in 7.00 SP22 also an issue concerning Unix platforms as in 7.01, where flash components + SP5 only work on windows platform?

Hello,
We now understand that we have to create the model and it's development component first in the local repository. When the model is complete and tested, we can add it, along with the development component, to either source control or shared repository, depending on the configuration.
We will proceed, as described in SAP's documentaion https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-104577.

All,
Our company is looking to develop applications using Visual Composer and would like to start with the basics. Could someone please direct us to some documentation that refers to 101 of VC development.
A genral concern we had was where do the VC applications resides (WAS/portal PCD) once deployed? How does one transport a VC applications?

*NEW* in Visual Composer 7.0 - Flash Component Consumption

Thanks for all the wonderful links and articles.
Amir, I have a question related to VC, I created a application which initially shows a Table and on click of any line item I am calling a RFC which returns a URL, which points to a Image. The problem is, In VC application I want to show this Image at runtime but Image UI doesnot allow me to assign image at runtime, I also tried to use HTML page and passed the URL to it, but in this case I am able to show image but I cant control Width & Height of Image.
Can you please suggest me some inputs for my requirement, Is it possible to pass the URL to a flex component to show image and I can come back to Layer1 from Flex component which might be in Layer2.

Visual Composer 7.0 roadmap

Hello experts,
We have NetWeaver EP 7.0 installed with Visual Composer in our C&B and DEV environment. We haven't started developing with it yet.
My questions to you is:
What is the future of Visual Composer 7.0?
My understanding is that SAP has put a lot of energy integrating Visual Composer into CE 7.1. This new version has significant changes compare to it's predecessor. Visual Composer for CE 7.1 seems to be the way to go if one needs to create applications based on existing data services. In short terms, both versions will coexist. Bbut in long terms...?
Can anyone help me find the Visual Composer roadmap?

I'll stress the last part, though VC on CE is a great version, staying with the latest release of Visual Composer 7.0 is also good, depending on your needs of course, for instance - the attractive Flash runtime which is currently exclisive for VC 7.0, the "Flash Components" feature that was entered on SP5 of 7.01 (and in 7.02) , which enables you to consume custom 3rd party flash components or Xcelsius controls inside Visual Composer,, which makes flash black-boxes easier to consume than in CE, .. etc..
still - VC on CE of course has it's own advantages - the ability to consume clustered services, life-cycle management, it's intergration with the other CE components etc..
and so if you'll find that VC 7.0 is not enough, you could always upgrade and migrate to the CE versions (7.1 or 7.2).
bottom line - it's a win win situation.

Visual composer iView in a BI web template

Hi all!
Is it possible to embedd an iView created with Visual composer to a web application created with BI web application designer? Can I use for example a hyperlink in such way that the content of the link is opened as default (user doesn't need to open the link to see the content of the visual composer iView)?

Hi Rakesh,
Starting from SP15, new features are no longer a part of the service packs, but they are delivered as an Enhancement Pack (EhP). EhP1 is scheduled to be released for ramp up these days and it will have many very cool features. Variable in Visual Composer NW2004s

I new in Visual Composer.
I read the "How ToWork with Variables in SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer", but I have a problem with the drop-down list. I following step by step the solution, using the dynamic list but when I run the model I find the drop-down empty.
Someone works with drop-down list with dynamic list?
How do I configure the assigned value in output and input port?

did you check your data service, if it works (you can do this at design time).
I suggest you to write an own RFC for getting the key and text of the infoobject.
You can write one RFC which will work for all infoobjects.

Can not see "Compose" option in the visual Composer

I am new to Visual Composer. I have created a model. But I am unable to add a page because I can not see the "Compose" option.

Eventing in Visual Composer 7.1 Enhancement Package 1

We are running Enhancment Package 1 on 7.1 and the release note says that client side event is supported. However I build 2 iViews one with Data Entry text iput and and a signal out and the the sencond one with a signal in and a text field. I cannot get what I type in to the first iView to pass to the second. Is there a simple example that illustrates that eventing is working in this release.

I used the non WEB Dynpro event tested with the following results.
For an iView that I had build with Visual Composer 7.0 and converted using the CE 7.1.1 converter tool I now see the following. In this case the evnt had the prefix urn: on it
10:20:12 : urn:com.osisoft.pct.RtPM, AdhocTags, %3CParamsversion%3D%223%22%3E%3CRowParamname%3D%22%5C%5Cgsrtwebparts%5Ccdt158%22%2F%3E%3C%2FParams%3E, undefined
This same iView on Visual Composer 7.0 delivered the following message using the tool in EP 7.0
10:52:46 : urn:com.osisoft.pct.RtPM, AdhocTags, <Params><param name="Paramname" value="%5C%5Cgsrtwebparts%5Ccdt158"/></Params>, undefined
For an iView that I created new with Visual Composer 7.1.1 and tried to use the same tool the tool did not catch the event and nothing was displayed in the log when the event name had urn: on it.
I rebuilt and removed the urn: and now the tool picked up the event with the following log.
11:12:29 : urn:com.osisoft.pct.RtPM, AdhocTags, %3CParamsversion%3D%223%22%3E%3CRowParamname%3D%22%5C%5Cgsrtwebparts%5Ccdt158%22%2F%3E%3C%2FParams%3E, undefined
The XML has changed and the use of urn: is inconsistent between versions.

The Web Dynpro version you suggest did not show anything so that is why I tried the non-WebDynpro.

Visual Composer 7.0-Change the Y-axis from decimal scale value to integer

Hi Experts,
I'm new in Visual Composer 7.0, my report is work fine, but when I want to show the data in bar-chart, the values on y-axis are 0.0, 0.4.0.8,1.2,1.6.2.0 but i want like 1,2,3,4.
Normally, this happen when values on y-axis less than 5, if more than 5, it will turn to 1,2,3,4. (which i expected)
Inside my function module, I set all the data as integer already..
I read through some suggestions in the forum, they suggest using 'Fixed range' and set the interval size, but need to include min & max value. But, inside my program, min value & max value has to be automatically adjusted, ie i can not set the values for those.
Please suggest solution for me, need it urgently..

I'm sorry but this seems to me impossible to do.
In general - not necessarily for this case - there is the option to create your own Flash Components and integrate them into VC, so you could overcome such limitations.

How to call a BAPI from Visual Composer

Steps involed for calling RFC/BAPI from VC
1. Choose Model->Select Data Services.
(Alternatively, click the Data button in the task panel toolbar.)
2. In the Portal field at the right end of the main toolbar, enter the URL of the portal from
which you can access the back-end system used by the iView.
For example, you could enter: http://<yourportal>:50000/..
3. Click the traffic light icon to the right of the Portal field. The portal Welcome screen
appears.
4. Log on to the portal as a user that exists in the connected back-end system, or which is
mapped to a user of that system. Click OK.
Once a connection to the portal is established, a list of system aliases defined in the
portal system landscape appears in the System drop-down
list.
From the System drop-down list, choose the SAP system that contains the function module.
6. Under Search SAP System, click the Search tab and in the Name field, enter the search string: <RFC/BAPI name>. Then click Search (at the bottom).
5. A list of function modules matching the search string is displayed.
7. Drag the function module/bapi from the Data task panel into the
workspace: The data service is added to your model.
8. Periodically save your work. To do so, choose File->Save Model.
Finally test the iview in VC.
In the workspace, drag your mouse from the Input port of the data service, <inputform> and dragn your mouse from the outut port from the data service <tabelview and etc..>

Deploy in Visual Composer fails.

Hello Experts,
    I am new to visual composer. I created a small application which compiles OK. When I click the Deploy button, I get the following on the screen:
      1. Compiling SalesOrder...
      2. Deploying...
         Error in compiling Flex application (1).
         Consult log file for details.
There are no error messages in the VC log on the screen and there is no message in the portal defaultTrace file. In the visual composer I have turned up the logging, but I don't see any error messages.

Navigation in Visual composer

Hi,
I am very new to visual composer. i have two issues.
1. I have an RFC to execute in Visual composer, the Input form of RFC to be shown as a first view, once he click on submit, i need to navigate to another view which will show the result as an table.
I am able to execute the RFC , by showing the input form and table in the same page.but i need to navigate to the table view after submit.
I dont want to use the navigations like wizard,accordian or tab.....
2. My RFC Out put is a table and an export parameter of type Flag ('x' or ' ') , based on this export parameter i need to hide/display some of the table columns.

Hi,
1. For the first requirement you need to have two layers in your model.
In the first layer put your input form and in the second layer put your table view. Now connect these two layer, to connect click on the fist layer you will get a small green circle on the top of that layer click on the green circle and drag till there is a connection between two layers.
Once you have connected the layers you need to select the event for that connection, this event should be the submit. i.e. when ever you press submit in input form there will be a navigation to second layer.
2. For this you need to select the cofiguration for table view, in the table view select those field you need to hide based on the flag and set a condition in the display properties to hide that particular column.
before this you need to store the value of the flag in a form which is hidden.
