New final BIOS 1.9 not good for OC!

Just flashed the final 1.9 although I was perfectly happy with the 1.9B3. With the latter everything ran fine with "Ultra Turbo" mode and 270 MHz FSB (P4 2.6 @ 3.51 GHz) -> rockstable 24/7 with Prime95 and distributed computing etc.
Now I had to go back to "Fast" mode and 262 MHz FSB (=3.4 GHz). O.K., you are right, this is a decent overclock, too, but why that loss of OC capabilities?? Everything else is NOT STABLE any longer.
Anybody out there having experienced the same?
I think I'll try to re-flash the 1.9B3 and then wait for a real good working 2.x or 'till kingdom comes - depends on what comes first...

I guess if 1.9b3 works best for you, that's where you should go. MSI implements tweaks but it is tough to make improvements on one end without impacting all others...
Have you tried 1.9b6?

    I've fixed the problem - I think.
I forgot I had the program "Little Snitch" installed on my computer. So I went into it and saw that it was blocking most of my connections for all the programs I use on a daily basis. Once I lifted the RULE to those certain programs - BAM - everything came back to life in an instant!

I had my MBP near two finger length magnets and someone told me that its not good for computers! Anyone's opinions on this cause my computer seems fine?

Don't worry about it.  The MBP has built-in magnets.  Does magsafe power connector ring a bell?  The motor inside of the hard drive has a magnet.
You would need an extremely powerful magnet to affect a hard drive.  I'm sure the electromagnet they use at a scrap yard to pick up a car could do it.
A long time ago I tried to erase some floppy diskettes by placing a magnet directly against the outer cover of the diskette.  It had no effect on the recorded data.

  • New DSO data fields are not available for transformations in the upwardflow

    Hello,
    There are data flow from
many source DSOs -> Target DSO -> Final DSO.
Different transformations are defined and activated with DTPs. This works fine and provides the desired results.
now new fields are added to the target DSO, final DSO and one of the source DSO.
When I now try to edit the transformations, the new fields are not part of the sources at the different stage.
The fields are available in the Data Source created out of a DSO but not directly when using a DSO as a data source.
Have anyone faced such a problem?
    any solutions to this?
       - I cannot delete all the other transformations as this is too much work to do and there is no time for it.
    Regards
    Kannan

We created ZMD_BS_MAT_OVP_LAYOUT. But the situation has not changed - the fields are not available for edit.

  • Starting a car constantly is not good for the engine

So then should you leave the lap top on 24/7 or would it be better to shut it off when not used for more than 3 hours. Or is stand-by better for overnight rather than turning it off?

Great question wm...there is no one standard practice, all in the owners desire for either a rapid return to last used session, ability to flip open and process new items, essentially convenience.  With the improvements made in the past years of integration of components, heat dissapation, better battery construction-ion style an improvement for sure, only the individual can decide.
He is something which can generally be stated:  Where you live makes a difference-sand dust, high humidity, POWER OUTAGES/SPIKES.
Do you want to avoid viruses?  Although you have a good AV product, the internet connection can allow hacker to get in riding the premise of allowing email to be consistently downloaded. Remember the automatic update cycle you created time line input?  Keeping the unit cleaned-free of dust mites around fan and exhaust areas, unplugging external devices, and a number of other preventative measures can be listed.  Individual does as one likes.
I know-so what does Defender do..I unplug the unit from house outlet just as an old school precaution.  Seen too many of the LCD screens loose pixel ratio.

  • Hello, I have a question i will open i tunes but 1 min later there is wroten that my internet connection is not good for i tunes but yesterday was all good what can I do i will buy a new album

    Hello
i have a question i will open I tune but 1 min later there is wroten that my internet conection is wrong but
yesterday it was all good What can i do i will buy a new album??

    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
        1.    Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
        2.    After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
        3.    Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
        4.    Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • So far seems like imovie not good for HD is final cut express better?

as a SUPER novice user so far I'm having a lot of trouble dealing with imovie. I think the major problem is that the files are so huge that they become almost impossble to work with. A 50 minute clip i brought in took up about 40gigs. and when I tried to merge clips from one imovie file to another or import more clips the import just takes FOREVER.
tried to output the 45min segment to .mov and it took 6 hours then failed because I ran out of disc space on my 100gig laptop.
from what I can tell it looks like iMovie won't use reference material only source files so everything is in it's original size. I think final cut express will allow you to use MUCH MUCH smaller files as ref points so you can actually edit and output in a timely way.
Also I think if you import in final cut express you actually get a .mov file where with imovie you just get a giant iMovie file which can't be opened with quicktime pro etc.
anyway, HD quality is amazing but I think most point and shooters will be very frustrated this christmas.

matt, you're right about external Hard drives just didn't realize that 10-30 minutes of HD level content could put me in that scenario. thought I'd be able to shoot my friends kids playing and give them a dvd for the holidays, didn't realize it would be so time consuming for the computer to manage that.
oh well live and learn. on the upside the quality is sick and if I get into it I think final cut will solve many of the problems. even the external hard drives might not be as required becasue final cut can reference the tape points and when I go out to dvd it will just tell me which tapes to insert and pull the appropriate content. too bad imovie doesn't do that would be a real space saver.

  • New iTMS Category not good for international Listeners

it made trouble, when I want to find the Podcast from another country, why they don't keep the international category, because like my Podcast is talk about food and beverage culture, if listener in type "Food" in search, who knows which Podcast from which country? Is it need to click all the Podcast to take time to look?

Hmmm.... I am not particularly buying the "Those categories overlapped with others in the old system, making some podcasts difficult to find" reasoning in Apple's mail to podcasters. The International tag highlights non English speaking, non-US based podcasts and provide publicity through the "top subscribed list". There is no reason to remove it, except to limit the exposure for non-English speaking podcasts.

  • CS3 Requires Segoe UI - Not good for CRT users on Vista.

    Hi,
I am posting this in hope that the Adobe designers can remove the requirement for Segoe UI in their user interface.
I have had to make certain special changes so that I could disable Segoe UI and ClearType in Vista so my screen looks clear. Segoe UI, ClearType, and Vista do not mix well.
But the only fix I know that removes Segoe UI from the Vista UI does not allow users to use Photoshop CS3 because Photoshop REQUIRES Segoe UI as the UI font. So this leaves CRT users forced to use undesirable settings in Vista, which are blurred fonts that can contribute to eyestrain. You can trick Photoshop to use Tahoma by setting Photoshop to run in XP SP2 Compatibility Mode. I do not know if this would cause any problems on Vista or not. So this MAY be a workaround.
Segoe UI is a Cleartype font, which looks terrible on Vista when users use CRT's (these are still common and sold for many reasons, especially for exact color graphics and other things requiring super clarity). See my article at http://steve.fsxtreme.com/blogs/2008/01/16/say-no-to-segoe-and-cleartype-on-vista/ on how I fixed it on my system. But doing this disables PhotoShop, which leaves people in a difficult position.
Forcing Segoe UI on customers with CRT's was a major oversight by Microsoft IMO. I hope you all can change your product to allow for non-Cleartype fonts in your user interfaces.
Adobe has a KB article discussing this requirement... http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402311.
    Thanks,
    Steve

You can configure Vista so it works a lot like XP.
    1. Install Vista.
    2. Disable User Account Control.
    3. Make Sure Data Execution Protection is set to Essential Programs and Services only.
    4. Disable the Aero Desktop.
    5. Disable the Indexing service
    6. Disable Windows Defender.
    7. Right-click Program Files (with subfolders) and change the Owner to your account.
    8. Change the permissions of Program Files (with subfolders) so that your account has full control.
    9. (Optional) - Change your desktop theme to Windows Classic so you do not have that awful blue XP style title bar and frame.
    10. Use the various tweaks common on the net to reconfigure IE7 (move the menu to the top, hide the command bar, etc...).
With the above, I almost have an EXACT XP like experience. Asides from a few relocations of items, it all feels the same. Of course I had to use the NoSegoe tweak to get rid of Segoe UI as I use a new 21-inch CRT. But overall, it is no different now from Windows XP.
It is a lot to have to do! But it is better than the alternative if I must use Vista in my job, which I need to do.
Also, I use a good virus scanner that allows for me to use it as I need it, such as NOD32.

  • ITunes 11.4 update not good for Mac os 10.6.8?  Can time machine help?

I am using an iMac from 2006 (32) running snow leopard.  When I updated to the latest iTunes, my iPhone will no longer sync.  I have a very large library and I have ratings on every song.  (Started rating them since the first version of iTunes came out)  I use time machine and have a backup from a couple of days ago.  Is it possible to use time machine to go back to the previous version using time machine without losing my playlists and ratings?

    Hi Ryan,
I managed to find this reference specifically for restoring on Snow Leopard:
If you are using Mac OS X Snow Leopard, start your computer from the installation disc. Then use the "Restore From Time Machine Backup" utility.
Now that was copied from this more comprehensive reference:
Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac
You may also find this article helpful:
    http://pondini.org/TM/14.html
Finally, I cannot see why Time Machine would leave out your playlists and ratings? Think about it. Why would Time Machine specifically copy everything BUT your playlists and ratings? Ryan, what are your options? I would have to ask you this: Are you certain that you properly did the sync? That is another/different forum altogether: Using iPhone /see subsection on Syncing.
    Either way...
    Best Regards,
    mm
EDIT: For whatever reason I tried three times to edit out one of the redundent adjectives... either different or another which preceeds the word forum, but the advanced editor would (apparently NOT allow me to do so). I hope that it doesn't render without any adjective before the word forum.

  • Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter not good for networking?!

    Hi folks,
I have been successfully running a mini Firewire network between my old iMac and my MacPro for several years just using a FW 800 to FW 400 cable.
NOW I bought the new iMac with Thunderbolt and the Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter. Unfortunalely it was impossible for me to set up the network again. Is it right that the Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter will not work the same as the "pure" Firewire connection before, because of the different hardware or internal protocols? Do I really have to switch over to a standard ethernet connection with additional hardware like router hub or switch and forget my cool and so easy Firewire network?
I read about that problem here:
    macworld.com/article/2016066/migration-assistant-thunderbolt-firewire-adapter-hu h.html
    That would be a shame....

Be certain you have inserted the cable plug into the computer jack so that essentially ALL of the metal end has disappeared inside the computer jack.
