New Final Cut Studio

Anyone have any idea when the next version of FCPStudio is planning on coming out? I have to reinvest in it and don't want to commit to anything right before a new version comes out.
DG

Those that know, can't tell.
Only Apple knows.
The point is that if you have clients, and can make money, then get the software now.
If you don't, then it's a waiting game and anybody's guess.
best wishes

  • I Can't install my NEW Final Cut Studio 2

I Can't install my NEW Final Cut Studio 2;During the initial installation process the applications are dimmed and it tells me that I have to upgrade the previous version, but my "previous" version is Final Cut Studio "ACADEMIC" (FCP 5) which doesn't allow upgrades!. When I enter the previous version's serial # it refuses it and the serial # of the new one doesn't allow me to install. I paid full price for the new FCS2 because I am not elegible to upgrade from an "academic" version... Anyone with a solution... Urgent. I am to start a new project/new client on Monday am
    thanks in advance

Did you uninstall the 1st version with AppZapper? Gotta be some registry type files still lingering around.
    Thanks for your response.
I installed using the conventional DVD's sent by Apple. I installed them on my previous computer a MacBook Pro and it was copied with the rest of its contents when upgrading to my new MacPro.

  • How many registration keys come with the new Final Cut Studio

Hi I'm thinking of buying the new final cut studio and am trying to find out how many registration keys come with the box. I have 2 others in the family that would use it on their comps as well, and my friend had gotten the previous version of final cut studio 2 (final cut pro 6) and said it came with 3 keys inside, which would be great for me. So I'm just making sure that's true. Thanks.
Also you can bring final cut pro 6 files from another computer onto a computer with final cut pro 7 and still work on them right?

    Hello Gibbs,
    Welcome to the forum.
    Re: your question.
Your friend is a pathological lier (or delusional - sometimes it's hard to tell the difference).
FCP is licensed for one laptop and one desktop as long as:
    1. Both machines are owned by YOU (your inlaws don't count as you)
    and
    2. They are not used at the same time.
If your family wants FCS, time for them to purchase their own copies. (Apple has dropped the price so low that even Junior High School students can afford their own copies now.)
Yes, FCP6 files will open without issue on FCP7. The reverse is not true.
    Have fun.

  • Can I install my new Final Cut Studio 2 on more than one of my computers.

Can I install my new Final Cut Studio 2 on more than one of my computers.
    I have a Power Mac G5 and I am buying a iMac 2.8 Intel 24"
Can I install my Final Cut Studio 2 on both computers?
The G5 I leave at home and the iMac I travel with.

    Hi The Bunnell Farm-
Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards.
Legally you must have only one copy installed at any one time on any one machine. By definition, you would need a second purchased copy in order to run it legally on the 2nd Mac.

  • About new Final Cut Studio

    Hi everybody!
Does anyone know if Final Cut Pro 7 will use OpenCL with Snow Leopard?
    Thanks in advance,
    Nicola

However, we won't REALLY know until Snow ships, we've figured out if we need new cards, and there might be some incremental updates. No one knows for sure where Intel and Snow Leopard are going to take us although the Mac rumor sites are replete with useless speculation.

  • New Final Cut Studio at NAB?

Has anyone heard any rumblings or have any indication that a new FCP Studio is going to be announced this week? I want to get my mitts on one asap if they are releasing a new updated suite of apps.

    None.
    No announcements, and none expected.
Apple usually has an event on the Sunday before NAB.
    It didn't this year.

  • New final cut studio and ipod question

why aren't the demonstrations videos available for download on your ipod?..I have always wondered why you can't find these on itunes.

Asking the wrong crowd. We aren't Apple...we are FCP users, like yourself.
How would you see anything on the small iPod screen?

  • Final cut studio 2 install failed?

I just bought a new final cut studio 2 and i put in the install disc, Than it said to put in the audio content 1 disc so i did. And than it said put in the final cut studio disck (Which i presume is the install disc) So i did than it said the install failed cause my source media was damaged? Anybody know how to fix this?
P.S I already tried cleaning the disc. No luck

I can't remember starting with an audio content disc during FCS2 setup.
From what you describe it sounds like an installation disc problem.
Contact your local Apple Store for their advice.

  • Installing Final Cut Studio over old Production Suite upgrade

My company recently purchased 3 sets of Final Cut Studio. Two of the edit bays just got new first time installs so they worked great but the third bay has my personal verion of production suite wich has been crossgraded to Final Cut Studio. I would like to take mine off and install the company's new Final Cut Studio version. How do I uninstall and change to the new serial numbers? I have read several posts on uninstalling FCP but nothing on DVD Studio, Motion, etc.
    Thanks

If it was me, and will be soon, I'd gather up all my install discs, serial numbers from other apps etc and rebuild the system from the ground up. It'll take the better part of a day, but you'll be glad you did.

  • Can't open final cut studio 2 project in final cut pro 5.0.4

My color corrector has the new Final Cut Studio 2. I still have version 5.0.4
I can't open the project file he returned to me. I'm guessing its because we have different versions. 5.0.4 is the latest patch for me, right?
Furthermore, a friend of mine has final cut studio 2 and opened the project for me. He exported an xml file and told me i should be able to import that and view the project file. When I open it all the media files are offline.
Do I HAVE to upgrade to Final Cut studio 2 to be able to view these project files?
    thanks,
    ben

Reconnect the offline media and life should be good.
Still, the best solution is for everyone involved with the project to be using the same version of FCP/Color.

  • Final Cut Studio stolen

I purchased my final cut studio when I purchased my macbook pro and in that time my whole package of discs and serial numbers have been stolen. I'm assuming they've been installed onto many computers because anytime I try and open Final Cut I get a warning that it's already being run from several other computers. Is there anyway that Apple can deactivate that serial number and give me a new serial number to just use on my macbook and my work computer or would I have to pay for a whole new Final Cut Studio?

If you get that warning, that means that someone on your LOCAL network has stolen it.  Meaning, on your same LAN (Local area network).  If you are in an office where you all plug into the ethernet...then you are all on the same LAN.  If you get that warning, someone else on that LAN is running your copy of FCP.  Find out who is running FCP...go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and choose ABOUT FINAL CUT PRO...and see what serial number comes up.  If it is yours...then that is the stolen copy.

  • Final Cut Studio 3 on two computers

Two people working on project but would like to use new Final Cut Studio 3. Is it possible to install FCP on external hard drive and have them go between the different computers or are there other possibilities.
Basically the licensed user of FCP is not quite proficient on the tools so has hired a student with earlier education version of FCP.
I would be "IT" for licensed user so question was posed on how to share between two users but want to keep it legal.
I have already installed the update on licensed user but might have to uninstall to move application to external drive or is there a "key" like Adobe uses that I can disable this computer & enable the other.
    Thank you in advance

Is it possible to install FCP on external hard drive...
No. It has to be on the same drive as the Mac OS running your computer.
The license stipulates that FCS may be installed on one Desktop and one Laptop owned by you.
Both versions may not be used at the same time.
There's no difference in functionality between an academic and commercial copy of FCS.
The difference is in what you are allowed to do with it, i.e. no commercial work with an acedemic version.
Exchanging projects between different versions of FCP is done via XML. The machine with the newer version should generate the XML so that the older version can read it.

  • Final Cut Studio Crossgrade - Best method for upgrade?

    Hi,
I've received my new Final Cut Studio crossgrade disks after surrendering my old ones to Apple and paying my £40 plus p&p (seems a bit antiquated doesn't it) and now I'm wondering how to go about installing.
I suppose ideally I would start again with a fresh OSX install and then install all the new Final Cut Studio apps on a 'clean' system. However, if I decide I am too lazy to do this (as fun as it sounds, my system is running fine otherwise so it would be a bit of a pain) is there a way of clearing off my old FCS apps cleanly, to allow me to install the new ones without any performance compromises / potential conflicts / unused files lying about on my system disk (or is this going to leave loads of hidden files that might cause crashes etc.?
I would appreciate advice from anyone who has tried their method and is certain it definitely works!
    Cheers
    Alan Smithee

You're right - a clean install would be better. BUT, few of us can afford the time or energy to rebuild all the apps folder, etc. Personally, I simply installed it directly on top of all existing apps, after making a system drive clone. Worked perfectly, I saw no problems after crossgrading.

  • Final Cut Studio 2  - Multipul Computers Q

    Hello,
Thinking about buying the new Final Cut Studio 2 but need to intsall on my desktop and laptop. They advise that you can do this but both will not run at the same time.
How is it possible that both would not work simoltaneously? Is it the internet connection?
    Curious before making large purchase.

The licensing agreement tells you it's one computer at a time and it is the deal you agree to when you install the software.
And yes, Steve Jobs just knows what you are doing. Spyware - hah!. Apple is so far beyond that ... like when you are naughty or nice and all that stuff.
