New Fios G1100 and Multiple Xboxs Connected to xbox live issues.

I just upgraded my router from the Actiontec MI424WR to the G1100. Now I am into an issue with Fios keeping a connection to xbox live on selected xbox devices. I have 3 xbox 360 and 2 xbox one connecting to the network. Both Xbox One maintain solid connection to live, but the 360 experience I have a totally different experience. My set up has 1 Xbox One Wired, 1 wireless. I have 2 xbox 360 wireless and 1 wired. I am also experiencing problems with one of my desktops which is wired that randomly loses a connection to internet. I been using this TRENDnet 8-Port 10/100Mbps GREENnet Switch (TE100-S80G) to help with wired connections. Both Xbox Ones on the network remain connected at all times, or at least I haven't seen a drop. My experience with my xbox 360s are completely different from my Xbox One.They all drop connection randomly every 5 to 20 min. I can immediately sign back in , but this continuosly happens. I was able to get one xbox 360 to maintain a continuous connection by putting it IP address and enabling DMZ on it. I have tried port forwarding but that doesn't work. Anybody have any suggestions or solution? Or should I just shipped back the G1100 and go back to Actiontec MI424WR.

Try the following settings and check..
Open the router setup page,On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox
IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox
Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...

  • New Fios Customer and Extremely Disappointed

    Hello,
    I just signed on to Verizon Fios because I've heard great things, however I've been extremely disappointed in what I've experienced so far.  
    My set up for installation was Sat 1/4 between 9am-12pm.  The installer showed up late, at 12:10pm.  It then took him until 3:45pm to complete the installation- over 3.5 hours!  I have no idea why it took so long for him to come in, set me up with a dvr box and internet.  I was previously with Optimum and they were in and out with installation in 30 minutes AND they arrived within their window.   My entire morning and afternoon was gone because I had to wait around all morning because I thought he would show up before noon, and then I'm not really sure why it took him ALL afternoon to set up.
    On Sun 1/5 as I was watching tv the screen went black.  It was on mute and all of a sudden it just shut off.  So I then spent over 2 hours on the phone first with an automated lady and then two different techs trying to fix the issue, which they concluded that I need a new set top box.  The earliest time they could give me is Wed 1/8 between 8am-8pm.  
    This service window of 12 hours is absolutely beyond ridiculous!!  I have never heard of a 12 hour window before for anything!  Whenever I had an issue with Optimum, they were there the next day before 10am.  
    I cannot take an entire day off from work to sit around my apartment waiting for a guy who will probably show up at 8:10pm.  (And I do not have family or friends nearby who can take the day to sit in my apartment for me in case the guy shows up between 8a-8p)  And it's crazy that I was just set up with cable/internet on late afternnon Sat, and within 24 hours cable's not working- and now I have to wait 3 days before anyone can come fix this??
    I need my service window to be Wed 1/8 between 6:30pm - 8pm.  I'm ready to leave and go back to Optimum.

    I know what you mean. I am also a new fios customer after newly 8 years with optimum. I am beyond disappointed and quite furious! The tech guys that installed my fios on 1/4/14 took 4+ hours and admitted that they are not familiar with fios all that well even though they have been working with Verizon for years. The picture quality is sub-par to optimum, I don't know if something went wrong with the installation, but I am left with extremely blurry SD channels and  slightly pixelated HD channels. If you can called that HD! I have had Tech support come over and they gave me all the excuses on under the sun and even insinuated that I am seeing things. Its really frustrating that I haven't been able to find a tech that is knowledgeable enough to fix this issue. 
    Alas a customer service rep told me to give them another chance and that he will send an experience tech to my house on Monday 1/13/14 between 9-12am. If this tech person give me any excuse short from actually checking the splitter outside my door or  switching the wires, I am going back to optimum! Fios has been a complete nightmare to say the least and I hope both our issues get fix soon.

    I have a brand new ipod touch however when I connect it to my computer, itunes does not recognise it and neither does my computer. The drivers have downloaded and are showing working. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes as discussed in support centre however nothing seems to work. The ipod itself just has the connect to the computer on the screen, is fully charged and when plugged in a little lock sign comes up for a second or two above the itunes icon!!! Let me know if you have any further suggestions please.

  • Issues with FIOS modem/router's wireless and multiple devices connected to the WLAN?

    I am an IT consultant who was assisting someone with getting some devices connected to the fios wireless router and adding a wireless print server so they could print wirelesly. 
    I was having difficulty with one of their systems that was connected prior to me going on site.
    It was having difficulty obtaining an IP from the WLAN, i tried reinstalling the adapter, removing stored wlan settings and setting it up again, etc.
    When it did obtain an IP it could not ping the router.
    I had left it suggesting that they replace the wireless adapter on that system.
    However they're saying that after they shut down one of their other devices that i had connected (a netbook), that this problematic system started working fine.
    It makes no sense that a wireless client would have an impact on another wireless client. We're only talking 4 total devices here, a netbook, a laptop, a wireless print server and a desktop in another area of the house that has a usb wireless adapter.
    Does anyone have any ideas on if Verizon's wireless built in to the fios modem/router just isn't too good to handle multiple wireless devices?
    After hearing this i was thinking they might have been better off configuring the fios router as a bridge and getting a better wireless router or shutting off the fios supplied wifi and implementing a wireless access point instead of using the router/modem that verizon provides.

    By bridge I mean in the sense you see some of the early DSL setups configured before they started using multiport routers -- essentially bridging the WAN MoCA port to the LAN ethernet.   The ActionTEC's won't do that.   This is what I think most are seeking to do when they want to turn the device into a "bridge" (essentially making the Verizon unit "transparent" to the communication which in this scenario it can't be).  You can do as suggested an turn the ActionTEC into essentially a "switch/bridge" that is only bridging the MoCA LAN and Ethernet LAN segments, but this then requires you to have an ethernet WAN feed from the ONT ... and as indicated, it is definitely not a "supported" configuration from Verizon (although there is nothing "wrong" with doing it this way if you are comfortable with networking and understanding the mechanics of all that is going on -- if not, sticking with a supported configuration is highly advisable).

  • Just got a new IPOD Touch and it wont connect to our Wifi home network with a Belken N Router. Our router uses WEP 64 bit security, but had a "blank" password field, which the IPOD did not like. Changing to a 6 char numeric PW didnt help either.

    I cannot understand why the APPLE engineers have designed this product so that it has SO MANY WIFI problems.  This is supposed to be an easy-to-use product.  We've had no problems connecting our new laptop, our ROKU box, etc, but it seems impossible to get the IPOD touch to work.  NOTHING LIKE SPENDING XMAS MORNING DOING APPLE TECH SUPPORT TROUBLESHOOTING TO LEAVE YOU IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT!!!  Argh!
    In fact, the only way we have been able to get this expensive brand new IPOD to work on our home network is to DISABLE SECURITY in the router settings.  THIS IS ANYTHING BUT A GOOD IDEA.
    DON"T KNOW WHY BUT MANY OTHER USERS ARE REPORTING THE SAME KIND OF PROBLEM SO APPLE ENGINEERING NEEDS TO GET BUSY AND FIX THIS PROBLEM SO THAT NEW USERS CAN CONNECT TO THE INTERNET WITHOUT HAVING TO BE TRAINED ROUTER ENGINEERS TO DO IT!!!!
    Ok, sorry for the rant, but surely those of you who are experiencing this share my frustration.  This is not why I bought an APPLE product.
    IS THERE ANY POSSIBILITY THAT APPLE WILL NOT ALLOW A WIFI PASSWORD with more than one identical alphanumeric character?  Any ideas?  We also tried eliminating the 40 MHZ setting under Bandwidth settings in the router settings for our router, but it made no difference.  The router has the latest firmware, too.  Running out of ideas, and am ready to box this unit up and send it back!

    Thanks, Bob!  You are correct.  And, we learned this as we spoke with APPLE TECH SUPPORT by phone on Christmas day (800-APL-CARE).  One of their reps spent the time to help us troubleshoot this, but the boiled down conclusion is your answer, and to repeat for the benefit of others, here is what worked:
    1. With our Belkin router set to "out-of-the-box" WEP 64 bit security, we could not get wireless access of any kind.  Only with the Security Mode set to DISABLED, could we gain access.
    2. Changing the router's security mode setting to "WPA/WPA-2...." and entering a new min. 8 char passphrase, and then entering that same passphrase into the IPOD Touch, and restarting the router, did the trick!
    Based on this, and some info found in another posting, I can only conclude that the IPODs and IPHONES do not support WEP security mode in many generic routers used by thousands of consumers.  Hopefully, those same consumers can figure out how to change their wireless router setttings to WPA/WPA-2 security mode and ALSO get all their other wireless devices (PCs, laptops, WII boxes, ROKU boxes) all reconfigured to WPA mode, too.
    I THINK THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT APPLE NEEDS TO ADDRESS WITH WEP COMPATIBILITY and it may also be the case that MOST CONSUMERS ARE USING WEP 64 BIT security on their home wireless routers?
    In any case, it's working now, so anyone who is having problems should try changing to WPA mode and post back here if it worked for them!

    So I tried out a droid for a couple weeks and well in the end I decided the iphone was the better choice for me. So the droid was my first smartphone and when it was set up it imported all my facebook, twitter, gmail and phone contacts. (I found this really annoying since I have so many contacts that I would really care less to have in my "contacts" list ) I have quite a few contacts on all of those places.so as you can imagine my contacts are a little out of control. Anyways on the droid there was a way to filter my contacts to just show contacts with phone numbers. So here I am on my iphone 4s and all those contacts are there. I haven't found anywhere on the phone yet to filter out contacts yet. Is there a way to "group" or "filter" my contacts so I I can just find the ones with phone numbers? Is there an app maybe that will group e mail, facebook, twitter contacts or something?
    The second question is...
    My sister, mother and I share an itunes account (I had an ipod touch before upgrading to an iphone) so that way if one of buys something all of us get it so were not paying mulitple times for the same app. We all sync on different computers since we don't live with eachother. I haven't been able to look into it but the new photo stream feature yet but... when everyone updates to IOS 5 is there a way that each persons photos from their device wont go to the others devices. Is this set up through your itunes account or icloud or something? If they want to use icloud/photo stream would they need to make their own apple id? If they use that apple id on their device for icloud. If they signout and log into my account for downloading apps will that mess up their icloud?

  • MS Visual C++/Delphi 7 and multiple db connections/sessions

    I've been reviewing peformance problems with an app that was written in MS Visual C++/Delphi 7. It was originally written to use SQL Server but has since also been ported to run on Oracle. The problem (well, at least one of them) is that each screen can have multiple controls on it (various OCX's and the like) and when any of the controls needs to get data from the database, it opens its own connection. The C++ controls and the Delphi controls can't share a connection so the app will have to have at least two connections no matter what.
    But my question is, how do you create a single connection to the database and use it over and over again in the various controls without opening and closing it? I'm NOT a programmer with experience in these tools. I've been asked to review performance from an overall viewpoint and one of the big issues, as I see it, is the fact that one user could have 1-??? sessions open at any given time. It makes tracing a user's activity almost impossible (as sessions keep coming and going) and creates problems with transaction control, etc.
    Can anyone tell me a bit about if it's possible to create and use a single connection throughout the app for all the various different controls and if so, point me to a simple example?

    Assuming they're using ODBC, go into the ODBC Data Source Manager (from the Control Panel) and check to see whether the ODBC driver this app is using is set to pool connections. If it is, your application should be sharing connections. You may want to play with the pool timeout parameter, depending on how quickly your connections are being opened and closed.
    If it has 4 controls all simultaneously asking for their own connection, it will have 4 connections open. If control 2 doesn't open a connection until control 1 has closed its connection, you'd only have 1 connection open. Hopefully, though, the next screen that wants a number of connections will be able to utilize the connections that have already been opened and placed in the pool.

    I want to perform multiple JDBC queries simultaneously from my servlet. Let's say I have a connection pool containing JDBC connections. Now what I want to do is to use each of this connections simultaneously to perform queries in parallel.
    What is the best way to do this??? create multiple threads, one for each query, and then collate results when all threads are finished???
    Has anyone does this before or know of any links or samples which I can look at??

    multiple processors - otherwise the thread fragments
    will be processed one after the other until they are
    finished.I agree. My server has multiple processors hence multi-threading.

    wouldn't it work too when you perform the queries one
    after the other?To speed up performance. Sequential processing is too slow at the moment.
    Hope you don't try doing so inside one single
    database...yes inside a single databse.
    Do you have any links to sample example etc..??? Importantly are you aware of any issues when one does this type of multi-threading from servlet. i.e does it clash with servlet's threading model etc...
    I am aware of how servlets multithread requests and am quite familiar with them. Just wanted some examples on multithreading JDBC connections from servlets and how I can wait for all threads to finish before collecting results....also wanted to make sure that there are no other issues....

  • Downloaded new software, failed and saying to connect to itunes

    I just downloaded some new software for the phone, the software update failed and then my phone was stuck telling me to connect to Itunes. I tried holding down the home and power button to get the dfu mode for restore, I've done this a few times now, it goes black after doing it and then goes back to the connect to itunes screen when I do it again. My computer is recognising the phone as it makes a noise when I plug it in however Itunes is not picking up the phone. Please help!

    Alright so mostlikely its going to be 2 things, Either the Apple mobile Device Service, or the Driver that is installed..
    Disconnect phone- close iTunes
    If you open up your services program - WIndows 7 = Click Start , Type Services, click the gear icon that says services, Locate apple mobile device service -click on it, then click stop service on the left side of the screen, then wait 20 seconds, now click Start service.
    Reopen itunes - Reconnect phone - does it work? if not its gonna be the driver.
    You will want to open up device manager - Click start - Right click on my computer -click properties - Click hardware tab -click device manager -Check under Universal Serial Bus controllers, Imaging Devices, Portalble devices, and Human interfaces - for anything that says "Apple" iPhone" iPhone Recovery" anything along those lines.
    If you locate it Right click on it - click update driver -
    Select "Browse my computer for driver software."
    Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
    Click the Have Disk button. Note: If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and then click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.
    Click the Browse button and navigate toC:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
    Note: If using a 64-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7, navigate toC:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
    Double-click the "usbaapl"file. (This file will be called"usbaapl64"if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see" usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers instead).
    Click Open in the Have Disk window. Then, click Next and then Click Finish. Windows will install the driver.

  • Brand New Apple TV and Stuck on Connectivity - Won't Let me Go Back and Re-Enter PW or Setup

    I plugged in my Apple TV and just got past the language selection. Then to wifi - found my network - entered my password, which I suspect I entered incorrect - and I get a message that I can't connect to the internet.
