New Firefox Sync can't proceed beyond verification link

Verification emails are received successfully, but the link to confirm my email address consistently results in a "Verification link damaged" page, regardless of whether I click on the link, manually copy/paste it, etc. This is preventing me from successfully creating a Firefox Sync account.

Right, but the issue (as I said) is currently with Firefox for Android (latest version from Play Store), which at that point was returning a "Could not sign in" error, and now is simply crashing whenever I attempt to access the "Sync" settings option.
Whatever the case, the original issue (regarding verification failing) seems to be resolved now. I'll just fiddle with the mobile app and see if I can get it to behave properly. Thanks.

  • New firefox sync does not send verification email. I'm locked out.

Once I installed the FirefoxDeveloperEdition, I tried to sync my datas, but noticed it didn't work.
I dug a little and found there is a brand new Firefox Sync (maybe trying an old Firefox Sync account could notify the user it cannot add any new device).
So I followed the support article in order to migrate and disabled my old Firefox Sync first. Then I tried to register a new account, and I'm stuck at the email verification step. I click on the “send verification email” but I don't receive anything.
Now I cannot sync anything for two days, and can't figure what's wrong. I use the same email as this “mozilla support account”. I forgot my password so I did request for a password modification and received the email. Everything seems to work so far. Except for Firefox Sync.
    Did I miss something ?

    Hi CoryMH and loranger,
If I read that currently you have reset your password and have successfully reset the password of the old sync, however there is no evidence of the new account syncing in the FirefoxDeveloperEdition because the verification email is never sent.
So I tested this with an account I know that already exists and it did not detect the account right away:
    I submitted the bug:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1097781
But please try to remove the account from the Developer's edition and add it one more time and go to about:accounts.
Does it sync on the second try without the verification email?

  • Why does the new firefox sync not sync my bookmarks on my Iphone? The history and tabs show up, but bookmarks do not.

Ever since I updated to the new Firefox sync my bookmarks have stopped showing up on my iphone Sync for Firefox. I even downloaded the Apollo browser, but bookmarks still are not showing. Can someone help?

Firefox 29 has a new version of Sync, so whatever you're using on the iPhone for Sync will need to be updated to be compatible with the new Sync.

  • Everything lost with new firefox sync

I formated my PC, installed the new Firefox and, when I tried to sync, i found out I need to create a new account to the new Firefox sync. As I can't access my old account I have lost everything!
I used my old email and password to this new sync but of course it didn't work as it is a new account.
So, how can a I recover my old account's data? Mozilla can't do a new service without migrating your data from the old one right?

  • Update Bookmarks on the go with new firefox sync features

My bookmarks-on-the-go will not update or sync with Firefox 29. The new firefox sync features has eliminated the pairing option or the resetting of the bookmarks using the reset / recovery key.
Any solution how to maintained syn with my iphone and firefox on my mac?

Try to contact the seller of that app about an update.

  • Privacy reduced with new Firefox Sync?

The old Firefox Sync (before Firefox 29.0) came with end-to-end encryption. This technical limitation prevented Mozilla from reading the contents of users' browsing history and passwords.
If I understand correctly, the new Firefox Sync stores the encryption keys on their own servers (instead of the users' browser). Does this mean that Mozilla is now required to pass on this private information to police, NSA, and other government agencies when required, and is susceptible to mass data breaches from bad actors?
If true, are there any alternatives to the new Firefox Sync (short of hosting my own Sync service) that continue to use end-to-end encryption?

Brian Warner's blog post seems to address the question: "Sync will still provide end-to-end encryption, but accessed by a password instead of pairing."
    https://blog.mozilla.org/warner/2014/04/02/pairing-problems/
The first comment on that blog post mentions the new password method is one-factor authentication rather than two-factor authentication of the original "pair devices" method.

  • Ever since I downloaded the new Firefox, when I right-click on a link to open it in a different tab, the tab will open but will not load anything, no matter what link I try.

Ever since I downloaded the new Firefox, when I right-click on a link to open it in a different tab, the tab will open but will not load anything, no matter what link I try. The tab will show the website destination in the navigation bar, but will not automatically load it; I have to press the load button in the navigation bar instead of it instantly loading.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== The newest version, 3.6.6, of Firefox was downloaded

It's not specific sites. I can middle-click on the same link 50 times and it will open it in a new tab 45 times and 5 of those times, it will randomly open it in an entirely new window. I don't know what's causing this.
It happens so randomly that I don't know how to pin-point what it could be.

  • I installed the new firefox sync on my two computers, but the bookmarks are not synchronising. How do I solve it?

    Hello,
I recently installed the new version of firefox sync on my computers (by unlinking the old version, and creating a new account), but the bookmarks are not synchronising. One of the computer turns with Windows 7 and the other with Ubuntu 14.
I created the account with the firefox on the Windows computer, and some things were well synchronized on the Linux computer (ie Addblock was installed), but the bookmarks on the Linux firefox are empty.
Could you please help me to solve this problem?
    Thank you very much.

Type '''about:sync-log''' in the URL bar and hit Enter.
Do you have any Error Reports?
If so, open the most recent report (check the date to make sure it is from the new version of Sync). Then copy and paste the contents of that report to http://pastebin.com/ and post the URL to "your New Paste" to this forum thread so that we can review that error log.
''Edit - whoops'', start with the Windows PC, then the Ubuntu box.

I just bought a new laptop and was trying to sync the bookmarks from my old one to my new. They both are running the same version of firefox and have been using the new sync. However, when I logged in nothing happened. All my info doesn't transfer.

Sign up for Firefox Sync on your computer
Click the menu button new fx menu , then click Sign in to Sync. The Firefox Sync page will open in a new tab.

Fill out the form to create an account and click Next. You're almost there!
Check your email for the verification link and click on it to confirm your email address. You're ready to go!

  • Firefox Sync can't connect behind Zscaler proxy

Last week the enterprise I work in changed their proxy to a Zscaler one. With the previous proxy I could use Firefox Sync without any trouble but since that it seems I can't use Sync anymore.
The error that shows says "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Incorrect account name or password. Sync will automatically retry this action" but I'm 100% sure that both account name and password are right because I haven't changed them and they work in my computer at home.
In my Firefox Preferences > Advanced > Network > Connection > Settings I'm using "Use system proxy settings" as I always did (tried with our PAC file in "Automatic proxy configuration URL" but haven't had any luck too), have all the Zscaler certificates installed and can browser to any allowed site.
The result of the last about:sync-log file is the following: https://pastebin.mozilla.org/8831301
    Anyone can help me?

The logs provided might not be enough to determine what is happening on the proxy side. It was mentioned that the proxy might be refusing to send an auth header or something, but that's largely invisible to Firefox sync servers. It seems you already got the message to cordinate with rfkelly to find the request in logs to make sure.
Comparing this to your timestamp in the proxy on your network may reveal. Go to the #sync channel or we can file a bug at bugzilla.mozilla.org and needsinfo rfkelly with this troubleshooting information for more details. Please respond with any questions about this, we are happy to assist.

  • Firefox Sync can't setup; can't see sync server

I've allowed mozilla.com, .net, and .org. but Sync says it can't see the server when I try to create an account.

  • The steps the users suggest would be great IF I knew what and where the menu is. Please provide something that a new firefox user can follow.

I just need a STEP BY STEP explanation of how to restore the bookmark icon. There is none. I read all the replies in the community. They list a string of steps that a new firefox user cannot follow. I just want to access a bookmark. I do not know where the menu is. Please do not tell me to watch another video. I need something that I can do now!

Which bookmark icon are you referring to?
Is that an icon one the Navigation Toolbar or possibly on the Bookmarks Toolbar or do you mean the favicons (website icons) that appear next to a bookmark on the Bookmarks Toolbar?
What action did you get when clicking this button?
Note that some icons may not appear when the menu bar is visible or possibly the Bookmarks Toolbar.
    *Firefox menu button > Options
*View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the menu bar)
    *Right-click empty toolbar area
Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
*check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup

  • In Firefox sync can you have more than 2000 history pages sync to the Firefox Home app (for idevices)?

I set up Firefox sync today with Firefox 4.0b7 (Firefox 4 Beta 7) and my ipod touch (Firefox Home app). I got it to sync and it synced almost everything except for my history. It did sync 2000 pages of my history but I checked and I have way more than that. So I wanted to know: Is 2000 pages of history the limit for syncing?

    @kalos
Uninstalled everything PA, also uninstalled mangler which was the only thing that depended on PA. It didn't work anyway.
No pulseaudio --kill command so I couldn't run.
Checked systemd journal and there is no mention of PA this time.
Checked top, and grepped ps aux and there is no PA there either.
I also rebooted the machine completely just to make sure. However VLC and HTML5 have the same incompatibilities.

I see. That's too bad. At least we're not alone.

  • Why I can't receive any verification link from my email. Thank you

Why I can't receive verification link from my email?

    Hi Brett,
I am experiencing the same problem as jhemils. Mine is a hotmail account and I have gone through every possible scenario presented by the link you provided. I have checked spam filters and spellings and everything checks out on my end. As far as I can tell, something seems to be wrong on the Apple side of things. Could you please look into this  and see what's up?
    Thanks,
    HS
