New for Airport Extreme (model A1408)

Apple's tweaked AirPort Extreme serves stronger Wi-Fi with 2.8X power boost
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/11/06/23/apples_tweaked_airport_extreme_has _better_wi_fi_signal_with_2_8x_power_boost.html
Might help reaching those that need alittle more reach within their structures.

another change with the new airport extreme (2011 version) it is now wifi certified for "stbc" whatever that is.
wikipedia says:
Space–time block coding is a technique used in wireless communications to transmit multiple copies of a data stream across a number of antennas and to exploit the various received versions of the data to improve the reliability of data-transfer. The fact that the transmitted signal must traverse a potentially difficult environment with scattering, reflection, refraction and so on and may then be further corrupted by thermal noise in the receiver means that some of the received copies of the data will be 'better' than others. This redundancy results in a higher chance of being able to use one or more of the received copies to correctly decode the received signal. In fact, space–time coding combines all the copies of the received signal in an optimal way to extract as much information from each of them as possible.

  • I need the the latest firmware for Airport Extreme Model A1034 (M8799LL/A)

    Hello everybody:
I want to flash my Airport Extreme Model A1034(M8799LL/A)with the latest firmware available..
    My Airport have a internal modem , 1 Wan , 1 Ethernet & 1 USB ports
I checked some firmware updates, but I am not sure what is the correct update ..
I don't want to ruin my Airport for flashing the Airport with the wrong update ..
I only have Windows Xp computers ,, I need a Mac to do it ?
Please somebody help me to find the update ,,
    Thanks in advance ,,

Do you know if this is still the case? (Version 5.7 is still the latest available for the 802.11g version of the AirPort Extreme Base Station).
I'm a little confused after the release of AirPort Base Station Update 2007-002 for Windows:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportbasestationupdate2007002forwindows .html
It clearly states that "AirPort Utility v5.2.1 software supports the AirPort Extreme Base Station with 802.11n, AirPort Extreme Base Station and AirPort Express Base Station." But then if you read the System Requirements it says that you need:
    * Windows XP with Service Pack 2
    * Windows Vista
    * AirPort Utility 5.0 or later
    * AirPort Extreme Base Station with *802.11n*
So what is the latest version for the 802.11g version of the AirPort Extreme Base Station?
    Thanks

  • Missing power cord for Airport Extreme model 1034 (2003)

I found my old Airport extreme, the white dome type model 1034 (2003). I replaced it with a time machine a few years ago. Now I would like to use it to extend my network into my studio but I can't find the power cord. Can I use a universal adapter input 5.1volts 2.4A? If not, where can I get a new power cord?

Seems like Apple Support would be a good place to start. If Apple does not have the item, I doubt that anyone else will either.

I just got a new Windows 7 computer and need the download the airport utility for airport extreme base station model A1408.  Which download is it and where do I find it?

  • Should/can I still use an older airport extreme model M9397LL/A?  Why buy a newer one?

Someone gave me an Airport Extreme model M9397LL/A.  My daughter just moved out of our house and I was going to set it up at her new place.  Would I be better off buying a newer model.

This particular AirPort Extreme can only support 802.11b/g networking, and is getting a bit "long on the tooth." I would recommend getting her the latest 5th Gen model if you really care about her.
If she only needs wireless, then the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) would be a less expensive option.

  • Need Airport Extreme Model: A1034 Manual (or IP address) for security

I have an older Airport Extreme Model: A1034 that I'd like to add an access security code to. I don't have the manual any longer and am wondering if anyone knows the URL address and password I'd need to get into an admin level view in order to set the Wireless security.

Hello september132003. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
The default LAN-side IP address of the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) is: 10.0.1.1. The default base station administrator password is: public.
However, you will need to use the AirPort Utility to administer the AEBS. Unlike other vendor products, the AEBS does not use a web-based type utility for administration.
Although the AirPort Utility should be installed with your OS X Leopard, you can get a copy of it from here: AirPort Utility 5.3.2 for Leopard
You can get a copy of the AEBS Setup Guide from here: AirPort Extreme Base Station Setup Guide

  • Will I be able to use my Airport Extreme model A1143 with Xfinity's ARRIS model TG862G/CT wireless modem? If so, how? I want to keep my airport network setting if possible.

Comcast has been hounding me to upgrade to their newer modem in order to obtain maximum bandwidth with changes they've made. They sent me an ARRIS Wi-Fi modem (model TG862G/CT). I was not expecting the modem to have wireless and would prefer using my Airport Extreme (model A1143). I have not attempted to connect the new ARRIS yet. Should I send the ARRIS back or is there an easy way to make use of it while keeping my Airport Extreme fully functional?

Thanks, I will look up "bridge mode" after I log off here. In the mean time, what if I were to simply buy the newest AE—will I still be able to use "bridge mode"? I imagine Comcast would prefer that I use their equipment and will eventually leave me no choice, but until that happens I would prefer to use Apple's AE. What is your expert take on this?
Any AE will be able to do bridge. There is actually very little difference between your ancient AE and the latest AE in terms of functionality.. Apple is minimalist.. so change can be avoided.. no need to add functions that were always missing.
I was thinking the printers are USB?? Is that incorrect.. are they wireless or ethernet? Any native network printer can be simply connected to any router.. it will perhaps be slightly easier in an Apple environment to use them on an apple router but the difference should not be huge..
USB on the other hand is tricky.. you will need to use some router that allows print serving from USB.. that still works fine whether the AE is bridged or in router mode.
Netflix is no problem either.. (assuming you are not trying to bust a geo-block).. the actual netflix login is stored in the TV.. the only security info on the AE is the wireless connection and that can be swapped to any wireless router. No biggie.. geoblocking is a biggie.. tell me if that is the case.
It is really up to you.
    1. Do nothing.. let Comcast squark all they like.. they are still providing you a service you can use. They are not going to cut you off if you still keep paying the bills.
    2. Change the modem for the new one they sent.. this involves a lot of network modification .. but in view of the age of the current devices.. will have to happen in the near future regardless.
    3. Return the modem router and request a pure modem.. to give you as little network impact as possible. You will simply change old modem for new one. However at some point the Gen1 or 2 AE will die.. and the rest of the network will need updating.. you are putting off d-day. Modern wireless routers have come a long way since Gen1 or 2 AE.
Take your pick.. Bob says 3. I say 2 or 3. It makes little difference as at some point the network needs a refresh.

  • Manage more than 20 Airport Extreme, model A1354 in same broadcast domain

Problem: manage more than 20 Airport Extreme, model A1354 in the same broadcast domain), firmware 7.5.1
We have more than 20 Airport Extreme (A1354) in the same broadcast domain with firmware 7.5.1, now we can not manage them anymore (with airport Utilty)
(Reading the Airport Extreme configuration...) An error occured while reading the configuration. (-6753). When moving one airport to another VLAN, there is no problem anymore. (only if we put more than 20 basestations in the same VLAN)
With the old type basestations (firmware 5.7) there is no such problem! But we need the new one, can you confirm this problem and will there be a solution ?
    Client OS: 10.6.3 (Build 10D578)
    Airport Utility: 5.5.1 (551.19)
Airport Extreme Base Station, Model Number: A1354, Firmware 7.5.1
    LAN: Private Lan /23 network
Al clients have a dynamic IP adres, the Airport have a static IP adres (true ISC dhcp @3.1.2_0 server), we use bridge mode.
We use SNMP, to monitor the airports (Nagios and MRTG)
    With Regards,
    John

  • Extend Air Omni for Airport Extreme

I buyed from Apple Store Online the Extend Air Omni for Airport Extreme, but now my Airport Extreme don't have a antenna port.
    It's possible ?

Only the M8799LL/A & M9397LL/A models of the AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBS) provide an external antenna port which you can plug the ExtendAIR Omni.

  • Where do I download drivers for airport extreme.....my iPad can not be set up by he current software

where do I download drivers for airport extreme.....my iPad can not be set up by he current software

I have an airport extreme with updated software(latest) and I setup an Ipad 3 on it with ios6(wirelessly). You can access the airport to update it with the utitlity app on an ios device, mac, or pc. I dont think it has anything to do with the airport software. Did you try rebooting the airport, then trying again?
Like james said, maybe more detail would help someone help you.

  • Why can't I install software for AirPort Extreme 802.11n while running Mountain Lion OSX?

Why can't I install software for AirPort Extreme 802.11n while running Mountain Lion OSX?  The installation CD simply says that the software can't be installed while running this OSX.

Mountain Lion already has the most recent, updated version of AirPort Utility installed on your Mac. The version on your CD is out of date, so you can trash the CD.
Look in Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility.

  • Is the maximum number of users for Airport Extreme per device, i.e. 2 AEBS = 100 users, one AEBS extending the other on the same wireless network?

Is the maximum number of users for Airport Extreme per device, i.e. 2 AEBS = 100 users, one AEBS extending the other on the same wireless network?

50 users per device, assuming that the "main" router is setup to deliver an adequate number of network IP addresses for all devices.
2 AEBS = 100 users, but that is really more of a theoretical max.
If you really need 100 connections, it would be much better to use 3 AEBS to spread things out.
