New function in Nokia Suite to transfer contacts t...

From version 3.6.x whish is now available as a release download here Nokia Suite has a new feature which allows for an easy transfer of contacts, calendar and photos to your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone via SkyDrive.
Due to some publications on tech blogs and in the general media the suggestion was created that Nokia Suite directly supports Windows Phone now. This is not correct although Nokia Suite now offers an easy and fast way to transfer contacts, calendar and photos to your (new) Nokia Lumia Windows Phone.
Here's how this feature works;
Connect your Nokia S40, S60 or Nokia Belle phone to your PC using the USB cable.
After Nokia Suite is started and your phone shows as connected select Tools>Upload to SkyDrive and follow the on screen instructions. If you do not have one yet you will have to create a Microsoft account (formerly Live ID) which has a SkyDrive attached to it. You can create such account here.
You will now have to reset your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone. Doing so will erase all content from the phone and return it to it's 'out of the box' state. Make sure you have synced any media files to your PC(zune) or Mac(Connector). You can sync these back after the reset. Installed (paid) apps can be restored after the reset using the app Reinstaller from Marketplace.
When finished reset your Nokia Lumia Windows Phone using Settings>about>reset your phone.
Go through the device first use sequence and when asked enter your Microsoft Account used to save the content from Nokia Suite. When the setup has finished your will find your contacts, calendar and photos have all transferred to your Lumia. These will now also be available through your Microsoft account online.
It is important to note this transfer will only work to the Nokia Lumia at the Device First Use sequence (after a reset). If you have your Lumia setup it will not look for or sync the information copied to SkyDrive through Nokia Suite.
SMS message can not be transferred directly, but you can export all messages in Nokia Suite (Messaging>File/Export all text messages) and open the resulting Comma Separated File (.csv) in Excel or OpenOffice Calc to create an Excel sheet (.xls file) this can then be copied to your SkyDrive and opened from the Office app. You could also use a tool to create separate files from the exported .CSV file and copy all of these to SkyDrive.

I'm sure everybody understands this, but let me take a moment. Lumias are not new Symbian phones, they use the MS Windows Phone operating system. (yea I know, duh) What that means is that they conform to the MS concept of operation which is extremely web/cloud centric. They have left behind the idea that a phone is a little piece of a single PC to be cabled and sync'd periodically. It is an entity unto itself. Your data is in the cloud and the various devices, phones, tablets, PCs, connect to that data independently. The benefit to that is generally up to date data, no matter what device, and when, with virtually no user action required. The drawback is the requirement for connectivity. Not perpetual connectivity, but fairly frequent, periodic connectivity. For some the mere fact of cloud storage is an issue. That is just the way it is though.
Moving from any other platform, even older Windows Mobile ones, to this concept can be frustrating, if you weren't cloud based to begin with. The accepted way is to move your data into the cloud from the old platform, and then connect your Windows Phone to it. Again there are various ways to accomplish that. Nokia has attempted to provide some tools to make some of that transition easier. They are not responsible for, nor in a position to change the philosophy by which WP operates. Don't beat them up for how it works. If you don't like it, maybe beat them up for adopting it

  • Problem: Nokia X2 (Android) transfer contacts usin...

    Hi,
You can transfer our contacts between symbian and Android Nokia phones by using contact cards and bluetooth.
A video of how to do it is here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY15LWHF2mM&feature=share
However only some of the imported contacts seem to have been added to contacts? A download list of contacts appears under the bluetooth button: If you swipe the bottom of the screen up... you get an option to view downloaded files. Then you can individually select the files you want and open them.
However there are a lot of contacts and there doesn't seem to be any way to determine what has been installed and what has not. Neither does there appear to be a way to install all?
Does anyone know how to install only the contacts that didn't get installed automatically? Or alternatively how to install them all?
Removing duplicates is simpler than loading them one at a time? Or typing them in all over again?
Moderator's note: The post was moved to the most appropriate board.
    The butterfly effect

It appears that the downloaded list of contacts only includes those that have not already been installed... or if already installed there seems no danger that you will install them a second time.
Swiping up at the bottom of the screen revealed an option to select all and then it was just a case of importing all.
Seems to have finally got all the contacts onto the new phone. So far haven't found any that didn't make it.

  • Nokia suite - restoring of contacts without phone

I used to own a nokia N70 and still have backup files on my pc. Does anyone know a way of getting to the info on Nokia suite without having to connect a nokia phone. I have some phone numbers that i really need to get to.
Perhaps a silly question but had to ask.

  • Cannot connect N79 with new and old Nokia suites r...

I have an N79 which I can successfully connect with Nokia Suite 3.3.x running on Windows XP and sync my data.
However, I have failed to connect the same phone (and also a N86) with the Nokia suite running on Windows 7. The connection with Windows seems fine (and I can browse the contents of the phone from Explorer). However Nokia Suite 3.3.x does not detect the device, although looking at the Add Phone window it is clearly trying to do something when I physically connect the phone - sometimes a message "Wait while we configure the phone etc."
I have tried removing all Nokia software, removing registry entries, reloading. But to no effect. I have tried repairing the various Mokia software elements through Control Panel.
I tried an older version of the suite (OVI 3.0.0.286). Again without success, except that it does see the phone because it lists it on the Add Phone screen. However, when I select it I get a pop-up advising me that the phone is not in PC Suite mode - but it is!!!  This does not happen every time but only after I delete the phone's entry from Devices. If I do not do that, the suite does not list the phone. The same happens on Vista.
The USB cable is from Nokia (CA 101). So same phone, same cable, same Nokia suite - works on XP but not on Win 7 or Vista.
Any ideas would be most welcome.

Hi, tinwhistle. Thanks for sharing with us your concern. Do you have the latest version of the Nokia Suite? Can you also make sure that you have an admin access on your Windows 7 computer, and your firewalls & antivirus programs are disabled. It would also help if your Windows 7 drivers are up-to-date. Keep us posted.

  • Nokia Suite doesn't "see" Outlook 2010 contacts

I"ve recently installed on a new PC with windows 7 (32bit) MS Outlook 2010 and latest version of Nokia Suite. (3..2.100). I wanted to sync my contacts with my nokia phone (C2-01). However Nokia Suite doesn't "see" that I have MS Outlook installed. In the options to syncronize contacts it has only windows contacts.
Can anyone help how can I sync my contacts in MS Outlook with my nokia phone in this case?

    Hi Toshkentlik,
I would like to add one thing more here.
You could first also check in Nokia Suite -> Tools -> Options -> Contacts ; See if Microsoft Outlook is selected there!
     If yes, then
     Diconnect/Connect you phone
    Click Sync -> Repair Sync
    Now Syn contacts again
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks,
    Best regards,

  • Is there any way to use icloud to transfer contacts onto a new iphone if you have already gone past the setup assistance guides?

I bought a new iphone today and wanted to transfer contacts over from my old iphone.
The person from the shop skipped the setup assistance screens, so now theres no options to transfer things from icloud
I was wondering if there is any way to do this?
    Thanks

    There is a way!
Simply do Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings (assuming this was a brand new iPhone).
That will start the whole setup process over.

  • Can't sign in to Nokia account via Nokia Suite

    I am in Finland.
I can connect to my account from the phone (nokia 701Belle + updates) and I can also reach my account on internet, but it is not possible to have a connection through my Nokia Suite. Have tried it on my win8, win7 and vista, same result/problem.
It is not possible to make a new account in Nokia Suite.
Some weeks ago I have updated my f-secure on all maschines.
Moderator's Note: The title is edited as a new topic is created.

Nokia Suite connects to the server account.nokia.com and auth.gfx.ms. For these servers, SSL 3 was disabled on October 15th 2014. As of today, these servers require TLS 1.0. Nokia Suite does not use TLS 1.0 but only SSL 3, because Nokia Suite uses the QT framework 4.7.4. Up to that version, the QtNetwork class QSslSocket used SSL 3 and not TLS 1.0 as default protocol. You can test yourself via a terminal command and OpenSSL:
    openssl s_client -connect account.nokia.com:443 -ssl3
which simulates the behaviour of the Nokia Suite. Therefore, the initial request of the Nokia Suite is rejected with a SSL/TLS handshake-failure. Because of that, Nokia Suite gives this wrong error message. Hopefully, Nokia enables SSL 3 again. Edit: added workarounds
1st Workaround – use another tool
If you skip the creation of an account and ignore that wrong error message, you are still able to use the Nokia Suite. Only these features need an account:
    Software Update:
    A) Software Recovery Tool (requires Windows 7 or newer; does full reset)
    B) Nokia Software Updater (updates; does not work for devices since 2011)
    Nokia Music: MixRadio » Settings » Purchase-History …
Nokia Store: download from its webpage …
Purchase History: view on its webpage …
    Upload to SkyDrive/OneDrive:
    A) Transfer my Data (for contacts),
    B) Microsoft Outlook 2013 (for contacts and calendar), and/or
    C) Micro-USB cable (for photos)
2nd Workaround – replace a DLL file (3rd Edit: added exit step, reduced to just one DLL)
exit the Nokia Suite via right-click in (bottom, left) Windows Notification Area (system tray)
download this modified version of ssleay32.dll …
replace this file at C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Nokia Suite\
A previous version of this workaround forgot the step of installing the ‘Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013’. Later, this step was added. As of today, this installation step is not required anymore because the DLL was updated and does not need that package anymore. If you still face an issue, report here in this thread! If everything works, please, just give kudos by clicking at that star on the right.
    3rd Workaround – update to Nokia Suite 3.8.54 …

  • Migrate Nokia Suite between windows accounts

I have recently changed my home pc so that each user has their own account, I now want to move my Nokia Suite settings to my personal windows account rather than the shared windows account.
My issue is that I have a lot of photographs stored on my N8, these have already been uploaded to windows (shared account) - but if I connect the N8 while logged in with my new windows account Nokia Suite tries to upload all the photos again, this would turn into a massive problem for me to sort out manually.
What can I do to migrate my Nokia Suite data from one account to another - I see there are hidden "Nokia" and "Nokia Account" folders in AppData/Local... would it be sufficient to copy these or is there other stuff that I would be missing?

    Hi dylanf,
You can see the help of Nokia Suite "Moving the contents of Nokia Suite to a new computer", the same applies to creating a new account or profile on your same computer.
If you had your Photos and Videos from your phone stored on your shared account on PC in the standard Windows Pictures and Videos folders. You just need to copy them those to your new account's Pictures and Videos. This way you will not need to copy those photos again from your phone to your new account.
I copied here the instructions from the Nokia Suite help. Nokia Suite -> Help -> Moving the contents of Nokia Suite to a new computer.
When you are switching to a new computer, it's easy to move your contacts, messages, media files, calendar information, bookmarks, and web feeds from Nokia Suite on your old computer to Nokia Suite on the new computer. All your files stay safe and you can continue using Nokia Suite just like before. See below for detailed instructions on how to move different content types to your new computer.
    Music, photos, and videos
The music, photos, and videos you see in Nokia Suite are stored on your computer just like any files and you can move them to the new computer with the help of Windows Explorer and an external hard drive, such as a USB memory stick. In the options of Nokia Suite, check if the program saves your media files to the standard Windows folders for music, photos, and videos (such as Music, Pictures, and Videos on Windows Vista and Windows 7 or My Music, My Pictures, and My Videos on Windows XP), or if you have chosen to save them in some other folders. To check your options, open the Tools menu, click Options, and then go to the Music and Gallery tabs.
Note that if you have created music playlists or photo albums in Nokia Suite on your old computer, you need to create them again when you start using Nokia Suite on your new computer.

  • How to transfer contacts to 5s from samsung s4

Purcahsed new 5s. Would like to transfer contacts and messages from samsung S4

You need to get the contacts to something compatible with the iPhone. Were you using anything on the computer to handle contacts? Are they saved in Google Mail? If so, you can sync them from that to the iPhone. There is information in the Google help about doing that.

  • Updating country and regional maps with Nokia Suit...

    Hi Folks
I am an E72 owner and a frequent user of Nokia Maps. Hence I use Nokia Suite to keep the map data up to date, time to time.
I normally download all countries by right-clicking the ALL item and choosing 'download all'. I thought I could download all available maps this way. But when all downloads are finished, I still can see some regional maps are NOT downloaded as the 'download' button is available for the regions.
Initially, I thought the regional maps of a country were NOT necessary if their country map has been downloaded simply because the country map should cover its all regions (comparing the map size of a country and its regions, and the regional maps were not automatically downloaded by default)
But it seems not that ture, at least for the latest map data v0.1.29.100.
As shown in the attached screenshot, for some countries, e.g.China, France, India, Italy, Spain and USA, some regional maps were automatically downloaded though most regional maps remain undownloaded (the 'download' button is available).
Why? Only those regional maps have been updated?
Do I really need to download ALL regional maps to keep all data up to date?

Thanks so much for effort farby and scoobyman.
It is interesting that the World Maps of scoobyman's E52 does not show any regional maps of China. The regional map of Heilongjiang will not appear in scoobyman's Nokia Suite, as there is no triangle symbol before 'China' indicating no regional maps for China at all. That definitely looks like the same thing that I saw on my E72 before updating to 00.01.29.100 map data.
First, scoobyman 's post has created confusion as he has not checked the same way as OP has done. He has checked selecting Maps and Voice Guidance on Phone at the bottom and not by selecting All under Maps at the top. If you see both attachments posted by me you can see the difference how they are displayed.

Yes, farby's India map with Nokia 5800xm seems having totally different map data. e.g. India map: 532 MB vs 372 MB, and Delhi map: 51 MB vs 33.7 MB.
BTW, it notice that you both are using a new version of Nokia Suite 3.8.13 Beta. Not sure if it could make any difference.
Whether Maps version is same or different is not the point. Even if the Maps version is different in both the cases it is being displayed the SAME way as OP ..only difference being the sizes of the data files ...

  • How do I transfer contacts from my old Nokia phone to my new iPhone?

Please how do I transfer Contacts from old Nokia N8 to my new iPhone 4S?
    Yes there is,
Download and install Nokia Suite for your PC. After installation, go to "tools" in the top menu and click on "options". The Options window should open up. on the left side select "contacts" and then under "sync with contacts application", select "Windows Contacts". After this click on "ok".
Connect your Nokia C3-00 to the computer with Nokia Suite still open. Your phone will show up in the application. Move mouse cursor over the contacts square on the left of the application window, and then click "sync". Wait for the sync to finish. Disconnect the Nokia phone.
Download and install iTunes. Connect your iphone. from this application you will be given an option to import contacts from Windows contacts. This should give you all the contacts.

  • Nokia 2720 flip phone contact transfer to Nokia Lu...

I have a Nokia 2720 flip phone with contacts in the phone and PIM card as well as Nokia Suite 3.8.48 on my Windows computer. Will the Lumia 520 sync with Nokia Suite or will Win 8 assume contact responsibility and eliminate the Suite?

The easiest option, it it works, is to use the Transfer My Data app from the Lumia 520. Make sure you have the latest version of the app, you can use a free app like Lumia System updater or SysApp Pusher for that. If this works, you can transfer contacts and whatever else is supported direct from the 2720 to the Lumia 520 over Bluetooth.
The Lumia 520 will NOT sync with Nokia Suite, as Nokia Suite will not even recognise it. You can connect the 2720 to NS and upload your contacts to Onedrive, where the 520 can pick them up from. Once you select that option in Nokia Suite you just need to follow the instructions on the screen. Try that if the bluetooth option doesn't work.

    Solved!

Do you have a google account setup on your Lumia??
    If so
There should be an option in Nokia Suite to export all contacts to a CSV file
Export your contacts from Nokia Suite
Log into your Google/Gmail Account in a Web Browser on your PC
If in the Gmail Tab, Click on 'Gmail' at the left hand side under the Google Logo
    Select 'Contacts'
On this screen you should now see any Google contacts if any.
At the top of this list there is a button for adding a contact and another button Labelled 'More'
    Click this and select 'Import'
Browse to your CSV file and import your contacts
When your phone next syncs with your Google account, All the new contacts should be copied across
