New G510 with Win 8.1 - no bluetooth

I just bought a Lenovo G510 with Windows 8.1 pre-installed. I couldn't find the bluetooth device and looked in Device Manager - no bluetooth device is in there. The Network card Hardware ID indicates a Broadcom BCM4313, which supposedly has Bluetooth 4.0 capability.
There were no bluetooth drivers on the hard ddrive to indicate that they had been factory installed, so I downloaded them from the Lenovo website (the Windows 8.1 version). However, when I run the installation, I get the message:
"No Appropriate Driver to be installed"
I don't understand this - Broadcom says there's definitely Bluetooth support on the BCM4313. Has anyone else had this problem and/or know of a fix?

Just received your PM.
Looking at the spare parts, the G510 (MTM: 59432412) has a Wi-Fi only version of the BCM4313 (FRU# 20200102).

In this case, you may need to use a usb bluetooth adapter (like this item) to enable bluetooth functionality on the machine.

The Sidebar and menu bar are hidden by default in iTunes 11. Try changing the view on iTunes 11 to classic view. To enable the menu bar, press Control-B. To enable the Side Bar, press Control-S. Test to see if you can access the device.

Forget about all the versions you already have (5.0 through to CS2). They will no longer work and the serial numbers are redundant.
Download the non-activation version of CS2 form the link provided by kglad and use the new non-activation serial number provided at that link. Your existing serial number(s) will no longer work.
Note: there is no guarantee that CS2 will run well on Win 8.1. Try it and see.

Are you saying that the Installation failed, or that Photoshop has installed but won't open?
You say Photoshop PS7. Is that a typo, or do you really mean the version that was released in 2002 and that preceded Photoshop CS?

I want to use Firefox on my Win 8 desktop. i want to move my favorites, settings and add-ons to a new Win8 laptop from my old Win 7 machine. I know how to do it with Win 7 machines by moving my profile. I can't find appdata on the Win 8 PC to move the profile to.
I will also want to do the same with Thunderbird.

The easiest way is to use Sync.
You can find it in Tools / Options.
You'll always have settins, bookmarks, saved passwords, history synced between you computers (and Android devices).

I got a laptop a few days ago with Win 8.... I am totally lost. I installed FF and it shows on my desktop :)
Now I need to transfer all my data there. I created a new profile in the desktop (Win 7) in case... Then what???

Hi JenL27, the Profile Manager lets you see ALL your currently existing Firefox profiles and choose the one you want to use.
Start the profile manager again, select your original profile, and start Firefox using that one. It will be a lot easier to work with your data that way.
IMPORTANT: Do not delete any profiles without making good backups.

Lennovo T60 with Win 8.1 Pro: Bluetooth not working

I have a T60 with win 8.1 pro. Bluetooth menu doesnt show up in device manager or under the PC and Devices.
Please help to get the bluetooth menu on PC, I need to connect a microsoft bluetooth mouse.

With my new computer with win 7, why did my 990cse lose the ability to print banner?

I have kept an HP 990cse solely to print genealogy charts in a banner format. My old computer crashed and I purchased a new one with windows 7 (formerly Win XP). The driver that was downloaded does not have the ability to print these banner charts. Is there another driver I can download to restore this ability

You might try the following: install the HP Deskjet 5550 (HPA) (HP) driver using Add a Printer, select the same post the Deskjet 990cse is on. Click on Windows Update when the list of printers comes up, then select the HP version of the Deskjet 5550 driver.
This should be compatibel with the Deskjet 990, at least for the basic printing. Banner paper is available as an option. Print modes such as some of the photo print modes or automatic paper type selection for the Deskjet 5550 will not likely work, but draft, normal and best modes with specific paper type selected should work.

When I click button to install now, it only restarts the EZ download installer again. I've gone through the process at least 15 times now. I installed FireFox twice before on Windows XP with no issue. I have downloaded the 607 KB "Firefox_Setup_19.0.2.exe" file four times now from at least three different Mozilla websites via EZDownload. I was very careful about that because one time I did it with Norton Anti-virus temporarily disabled. I double-click on the above file and it opens a new window with various "extra" software options and finally arrives at "Install Now" or "Later" buttons. Clicking"Install Now" brings up a Windows Open File - Security Warning box with "Run" or "Cancel" buttons. Clicking "Run" starts the setup file all over. I'm in an endless do-loop. It never installs Firefox and no new Firefox files show up on my PC.

Before beginning this post, I scoured the Support files and especially the "Download, Install and Migration" help files. Most topics close to mine deal with the Norton toolbar, which seems to have been resolved.
Doing some more looking, I found that my setup file was always 607KB, yet the website says it is 19.6MB. When I download it to my Windows 7 laptop, I have gotten a 607 KB size file four times, even though the process did not seem to be interrupted. However, using my Windows XP PC, I get 19.6MB. That could be the problem. I'll transfer the 19.6MB file from the XP to Win7 and see if that works. Thanks. I'll get back to you.

Someone might want to verify this only happens to me. Maybe it is one of my settings or a fluke or maybe I'm paranoid, but a brand-new laptop with Windows 7 factory-installed stops the Firefox download at 607KB four times in a row (on different days) with no error message. I have to transfer the file from an old Windows XP PC. That sounds to me like Microsoft is trying to prevent the use of Firefox. It could have been something in Windows 7 Home Premium (service pack 1), Internet Explorer (version 9.0.8112.16421 64-bit), Bing, or less likely, Norton Anti-Virus (because I ran it disabled one time - even though Norton labelled the file as medium risk). Just a thought . . .
Right now, I am happily setting up the rest of my system around the quicker, more efficient, more user-friendly, less restricting, Firefox browser. Thank you. =)

Can anybody Assist, please ? Issue with running Prem Pro 1.5 on 'new' pc with Win XP Pro

After some years of faithful service my PC died and I am not able to get Premiere Pro 1.5 to work on the new PC. I had several HDD with my video files on and the C: drive died. I have reinstalled the original drives so all my files are recovered and I can see/open them in Premiere BUT I cannot setup to capture anything.
System is Win XP Pro, Pentium Dual core, 2.7GHz, 2Mb RAM, Capture device is Canopus with DV Storm 2 drivers, Sony DR1000 deck connected by firewire.
When I go to capture settings there is an IEEE1394 option and DV Capture. If I select Canopus the PD INSTANTLY reboots. I don't know where to start looking for the issue . . . is anybody able to help ?

Did you replace the whole PC or just the boot drive?
I may be totally wrong but I had a Storm card years ago and it worked with Premiere up to the old verions 6 or 6.5, Premiere 6.5 is when it became realtime and hence the Storm card was no longer necessary for anything other than faster mpeg encoding
I seem to remember that Canopus introduced Lets Edit which then became Edius at this time and they dropped bundling Abobe products so I am surprized that Premiere Pro 1.5 worked with the Storm
If the Storm cannot be got to work and you do not have a firewire port on the Mobo go to your local PC component supplier and obtain a firewire PCI card with Texas chipset and install it. the card should cost about $20-$30. The Storms worked a treat but the Mobo had to be right and it did not like certain chipsets on the boards, not only that the installation process was a total pain

I have lost all files in inbox 2 times. On a new system with Win 8.1

At startup, system goes into "disk repair" for a few minutes then boots normally.
The only thing that appears to be missing is files in thunderbird inbox.
System is a Lenovo k450e. It first happened in September about 3 weeks after
migrating email to the new system. Then happened again today. (11/7) Lenovo tech
support was no help. They suggested reinstalling thunderbird. They thought

I am running the latest Ver ( 31.2.0) . I have 3 email accounts set up. Yesterday, I did delete a bunch of files from the Inbox on one of the IDs. On Both occasions the inboxes of the 2 active accounts were lost. The inbox on the inactive account appears ok. That account has not received any messages on this system. Also, I have never performed the "file compression"
or what ever it is called in thunderbird on this system...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

rarely compacted folders. NEVER had a problem. Apparently
Win 8.1 is more sensitive to this.
