New GIMP with optional single-window mode

According to this blog http://www.mmiworks.net/eng/publication … -mode.html, GIMP will have a single-window option in the future. This has regularily been a request by the community, especially by people using GIMP under Windows. As preferences of the community are at 50%-50% for or against a single window user interface, they want to keep both as an option.
I installed gimp-git from AUR today but I did not see an option to activate the single window mode. Anybodfy else tried this?

There is a discussion about it on gimp-dev. This thread may have forked in the middle, but the idea keeps going:

For those of you that have never been to their mailing list, Firefox will complain about a bad certificate. It's been this way for years and isn't a malware site.

    All that you describe is the standard setting them I have long found, but they do not bring any results. What is interesting - parameter "TargetedClicksCreateTabs" in a state of "true" which is processed in the Mac version, broken in the Windows-based version if it is to register the file C: \ Program Files \ Safari \ Safari.resources \ Defaults.plist a file stored in the folder C: \ Documents and Settings \ Admin \ Application Data \ Apple Computer \ Preferences \ com.apple.Safari.plist scrambled to change it theoretically impossible, but if you replace it with THIS file, then it can be set, but the parameter "TargetedClicksCreateTabs" still not working

  • Single Window Mode for Windows version?

    Hey there,
    as some might know, there's a "hack" to get Single Window Mode for Safari on Mac. Normally. links with "target=_blank" will open in a new window instead of a new tab. In order to get Single Window Mode, the following code needs to be typed into Terminal:
    defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool true
    Unfortunately, this won't work on Windows, so I would like to know if there's another way to have Single Window Mode.

    No, there isn't. That feature is not implemented in the Windows version The only way to open targeted links in a new Tab is to Control-click or Right-click on the link and select Open in New Tab from the contextual menu.

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it, which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Enable Single Window Mode in Acrobat 9

    Please re-enable the Single Window (MDI) Mode in Acrobat 9 as it is an un welcome user experience of having dozens of Acrobat windows open in the taskbar. I can suggest to have either of the following:-
    1. Give an option to the user whether to open the multiple or single Acrobat windows as is the case with Acrobat 8 with "Preferences->Documents->Show Each document in its own window"
    2. Introduce tabbed browsing in Acrobat similar to the one implemented in IE 7.0 to have multiple PDFs opened in a single Acrobat window.
    Thanks,
    Atin

    "In Acrobat 9, we dropped support for MDI."
    Not a good idea!
    Now, please let us have it back.
    You have to realize that you break peoples work flow with this ill-thought-through change.
    "Feature Parity with Macintosh was desired" -- Not a valid argument from a windows-user point-of-view
    "Making SDI default, but still providing MDI in version 8 was done to start the deprecation of MDI." -- That trick didn't work, re-enabling MDI was the first setting I changed in Acrobat 8 (and actually Acrobat 8 broke so many other things, I quickly reverted to Acrobat 7).
    "Microsoft advised that to work as good as possible on Vista, applications should avoid MDI." -- Microsoft is not the user, we are! Besides, many W7 users reset their desktop to classical.
    "This increases the cost of testing the product and the cost of fixing bugs." -- So it's easier on Adobe, but bad for us... is that an argument at all?
    "in a world where larger screen resolutions, multiple monitors and the need to see multiple documents at one time has increased, SDI mode offered higher benefits." -- As someone else already mentioned, on a multi-monitor system SDI is flawed.
    So... now that you consider reverting to MDI, please also introduce tabs, that's the only thing MDI applications typically lack, though things are improving.
    EDIT: People been asking for this since 2008! Come on, already...

    I can't picture what is doing this other than something missing or muxed, but perhaps it's time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

  • Website Owner having new issues with Clients and Windows 8

    I own a website that has a home-programmed chat. We've been in business about 12 years without any issues with compatibility. The chat is programmed in C and runs in a standard browser.
    Lately I've had a few users (3 or 4) that have upgraded their machines and can no longer run the chat.
    Most users that use Windows 8, or 7, or Vista, or whatever, have no problems. They can use the latest versions of IE, Firefox, Chrome, whatever they choose.
    However, these users with problems can use none of the above.
    I've gone through standard programs that block a chat, like firewalls and other spyware preventions. Shutting these off doesn't resolve the problem. Conflicting programs doesn't seem to be an issue, either. They aren't touch screen so I don't believe it
    is a problem with the video card.
    So that brings me back to the OS. The common thread seems to be that they are HP computers, and they have a new install of Windows 8. I think that there might be a missing DLL or other C Library that HP's installation of Windows 8 might be lacking.
    Any suggestions on if I'm on the right track, and more importantly, how do I fix this problem?

    Hi,
    Seems this is a web-based chatting program, I suggest you add the site to a compatibility view list, (launch IE, Tools\Compatibility View list) then check this issue again. Check the error message and infromation recorded in the event viewer to find out
    the cause.
    Make sure the computers have all the latest updates, especially for video and audio drivers.
    Clear the cache\temporary internet files in IE, or test this issue in a no add-ons mode.
    From your description, it also sounds like a "defect\bug" for the chatting-program on Windows 8 on HP computers, if so, it should be related with development. you may find more help in the developer forum

  • Open With - Options in Windows XP

    I recently installed PSE10 on my computer which is running on Windows XP (Service Pack 3).  It had PSE 7 running on it with no problems for several years.  My problem is that I am unable to open a jpeg file by "right" clicking on the file and getting an "Open With" drop down choice of PSE 10 (Neither for "Recommended" or "Choose Program").  I went to "Control Panel" and when I checked on "Add or Remove Programs" Adobe PSE 10 is not even listed.  When I check on the desktop shortcut for PSE 10 it comes up and runs just fine.  I have opened up "File Options" and attempted to associate PSE 10 program file ("PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe") but nothing seems to change.  Any suggestions other than "Live with it"?

    Can you launch the Editor and then use
    File >> Open
    Then navigate to your folder to select the jpeg(s)

  • No single window mode in Acrobat 9?

    What happened to the option to display PDFs in a single Acrobat Window? I often have quite a few documents open -- I don't want a dozen separate Acrobat windows.

    This is the worst thing to happen to acrobat, in my opinion.
    The clutter that it creates on my computer and the fact that i cant even see the document title when I have a bunch of them open (because the task bar is too full) is unacceptable.
    I never would have changed from Acrobat 8 if I had known, and now I cant switch back (company license).
    The latest thing i can find about addressing it is here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405108&sliceId=1
    which was in november 2008....
    why hasnt any thing else been done about it?  I just spent 45 minutes being sent to different departments over the phone, only to be told to submit a feature request.
    Please do this if you havent already:

  • Firefox on hp laptop always open with option of safe mode or reset how can i get it to open without option.desktop doesn't do this. Doug

    I set up firefox on laptop first and it always requires that i choose to open in safe mode or reset toolbar, how can i change this without reinstalling firefox. My desktop does not require that i do all that it opens with everything in place. I don't know what i did different when i downloaded it on desktop.
    Doug

    Make sure that you do not have the Shift key pressed when you click to desktop shortcut to start Firefox.<br />
    Also check the Properties via the right-click context menu that the -safe-mode switch isn't appended to the target (command) line.

  • Execute commands inside new shell with a single line?

    I need some way to run series of commands as a single line, however the problem is that I am changing to another shell at one point and I am not sure how I can make commands execute in that new shell.
    Here is what I am trying to do (as I am running it now)
    adb shell
    ubuntu_chroot shell
    nohup /home/phablet/test/test2.sh
    I am able at the moment to call this:
    adb shell "ubuntu_chroot shell"
    But I am not sure how I can execute line that calls test2.sh after that on a single line.

    Does ubuntu_chroot have a --help flag or manpage?
    It's fairly common for shells to have a -c flag which will make them run the first argument in the new shell.
    Edit: Just looked through the Ubuntu Touch repos, ubuntu_chroot is (currently) only able to launch a shell, but it should be easy to modify it to just pass on the additional arguments to sh
    uchroot repo here if anyone's interested.

  • Window Mode button gone?

    In Snow Leopard and Leopard, there was a long button in the upper right of each Finder window that would allow the sidebar to be turned off and on.
    Mountain Lion seems to have removed this. Any way to get it back? I notice many mounted disk images open in a single window mode.

I've download the latest directlink mode drivers and installed them correctly, I've gone into controller assignment window using learn mode button and assigned each knob to certain functions, cutoff, speed on ES2 synth. When you play the keyboard and turn the knobs the sounds work fine (no problem) but when I hit recorded the sounds play but will not record into logic. The pitch bend shows and works in the hyper editor and the All velocities but there's nothing coming through on the rest (Volume, Pan, Modulation, Ch. Pressure, Poly Program and Program.
    I'm I missing something really simple here or does this keyboard just not work with logic ?
    To answer your last question: yes, the keyboard works (you've said so yourself) and yes, you are missing something really simple.
    Pressing the Record button can lead to recording a) Audio if on an armed audiotrack b) MIDI events  (notes and control messages). But it does NOT record any (Track Based-) Automation; for that you need to set the automation mode to Touch or Latch. Then it will record without the need to use any record button, just playback. You should set the automation mode on the track to Read once you're done automating though.

  • Single App Mode iOS 8 broken

    Hi there
    Noticing a problem with both Single App Mode and Guided Access Mode since iOS 8 upgrade, and not fixed by 8.0.2.
    Every time a link is pressed within a web view or any external URL request, the notice "Guided Access Enabled, triple tap the home button to exit" pops up in the top bar. We have a tonne of iPad Minis out on shows with clients that are locked into one single app using one of the two methods - Guided Access / Single App.
    This is a real problem since the notice is shows on every single external URL request or page load within a WebViewer.
    Anyone else had this problem or know of a way of fixing it? Looking like the only fix is to jailbreak, downgrade to iOS 7 and use that - a much more stable iOS release!
    Ollie

    Hi Ollie,
    I've found a workaround thanks to Chris from Kiosk Pro App.
    You need to transform all requests (only when Guided Access is on) with navigation type "UIWebViewNavigationTypeLinkClicked" to navigation type "UIWebViewNavigationTypeOther"
    One issue with this workaround is that the Guided Access message still appears for links using types "Form Submitted" and "Form Resubmitted". Trying to transform these types could potentially cause an error with loading the page.
    Here is an implementation by Blandine from Adaptive Channel :
    In the method :
    - (BOOL)webView:(UIWebView *)webView shouldStartLoadWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request navigationType:(UIWebViewNavigationType)navigationType {
    Just add  :
    if (UIAccessibilityIsGuidedAccessEnabled()) {
            if (navigationType == UIWebViewNavigationTypeLinkClicked ) {
                navigationType = UIWebViewNavigationTypeOther;
                [webView loadRequest:request];
                return NO;
    Hope it helps.
    Cheers,
    Mehdi

    What is "Adobe XI" - Reader, or Acrobat?
    But either way, 'Save as Adobe PDF' is a Word function, independent of what Adobe software you have installed.
