Goggles Music Manager v0.9.11 is out with the following improvements:
      - Support embedded cover art in flac files (jpg and png only).
      - Support last-fm 'now playing' notification.
      - Use "ALBUMARTIST" tag in Ogg / FLAC files and TPE2 for id3v2 tags for artist.[Tag reading only]
      - Support album art in notification to notify-daemon.[D-Bus enabled version only]
      - DBus enabled version now also support the ability to control a running gmm from the command line.
It's still using FOX and still as ugly as some people think it is
Nevertheless, it still beats the new Banshee regarding memory use and performance
Thank you very much for the ALBUMARTIST tag...
You should know tho, that the TPE2 tag has been misused... its only used by itunes and windows media player and some others. The problem: TPE2 tag was originally created for BAND/ORCHESTRA informations, which has nothing to do with ALBUMARTIST...
An alternative would be a user-chosen tag for the albumartist. Ogg/flac/mpc can do this anyway. and id3v2 has the TXXX tag for that matter.
Also do you think you will add some kind of playlist at some point? would be nice, if one could queue songs from different albums... (probably even multiple playlists as in tabs?) (Think like: mark songs: Send to playlist -> blabla)
Regarding the FOX toolkit: i dont mind. Its VERY fast, which is a nice thing. Of course it would be nice if it integrated better with gtk and/or qt, but none of those 2 can match the speed of FOX.
P.S.: Any news on the replaygain tag info reading?
    Some info: http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php … Replaygain
just make sure to support the tag based approach of mp3gain too... because mp3gain has both options -  modifying the actual audio data and writing tags.
P.P.S: Another thing i want to suggest is some kind of plugin architecture... not sure if you designed gmm in a way that makes this possible. But if the possibility is there gmm is actually VERY close to foobar2000, which is a real compliment by the way

F11 toggles the miniview on or off.  Or just press the close button on the window.
Fullscreen is something completely different and not relevant to the discussion.

  • [SOLVED] goggles music manager albums no longer alphabetical

    Hi All,
In the albums section gmm shows albums in random order, well not really random. For example, under Zappa I get "Chunga's" Revenge through "Yellow Shark" are alphabetical but then the list continues with "Freak Out", "Absolutely Free", "Hot Rats" and like that. Clicking on the header reverses the order but it is still not alphabetical. Any Clues?
    Thanks

Perhaps they're sorted by year? (do a right on the header or list and see if the sort by album year is checked)

  • Problem with Nokia Music Manager 2.0 converting mp...

    Hi everyone!
I have a problem using the Nokia Music Manager 2.0. I want to convert some mp3-files into "Mobile Optimized Format". If a start conversion it fails and says Track cannot be converted because it is already in the target format or file format is not supported. However, the files worked on my previous computer with WinXP. Now I'm using Vista Business. The conversion will always proceed to 50% and break then. I have the feelng it's a problem with the rights to write the new file. Running it with administrative rights or in compatibility mode did not either.
    Can anyone provide help?
    Thanks!

i'm having the same problem... ever since nokia upgraded pc suite a few months ago, and i had to get a new version due to a problem with my computer, i can't put music onto my phone using the music manager 2.0. so i've been just copying them in their mp3 formats but of course it's alot more space that could be saved if i could have them in the AAC+ pr M4A formats.
i checked out download.com (they offer alot of free to try and free in general programs) and i searched for mp3 to m4a
i found this program " Abcc Free Music to MP3 AMR AAC OGG Converter 3 "
I downloaded it, which only took maybe 5 minutes, and then installed it (another maybe 2-3 minutes)
I'm trying the program now and.... IT WORKS.
i just converted about 6 pm3's to m4a's and it took about 3-4 minutes. try it !

Your best solution is to use some other tool to rip the music, then use File Transfer (USB mass storage) to drag and drop. It's much faster than using PC Suite.
i-Tunes allows you also to rip into AAC (m4a) and that works with N91.
I've tested WMP 9 and WMP10 (now beta testing WMP11) and they all work differently but work with N91 (both WMA and MP3 formats)
WInamp also rips into formats that are supported in N91.
If you don't want to pay for the encoder, use Audiograbber. It's great for Mp3
Is there a reason why you want to use Nokia Music Manager?

  • Nokia 6121 classic pc suite update - music manager...

i updated to latest version pc suite 7 and everything works but the music manager, it is not responding! It used to work fine before the update. I have tried repairing with nil fix. i have tried reinstalling nil fix.

I am having the same problem with my 6233. Apparently it is not compatible with Nokia music store, but the Nokia music application in PC suite that I have just downloaded will not recognise it either. All other applications in this version of PC suite will work ok with it. How do I revert to the old style music manager in order to dreate playlists etc. Also, the new music application has installed as the default music player on my PC, how do I stop this and change it? Nokia seem to have made things difficult for users of older model phones.
    Can anyone help us please.

I'm trying to convert mp3 files to M4A files with music manager 1.0 When I select the files I want to convert and click 'File>Convert to mobile optimised format' the status goes to 'Pending' and does not get any further.
I am using PC suite 6.8 on Windows XP sp2 with a N91 on USB.

when i try to put new my music it deletes the ones that were already on my ipod. How do i stop this?
    dell dimension 3000   Windows XP

You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the songs manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See this.
Backing up your media in iTunes.
Please excuse the sermon, but we see far too many people lose their music because of no back up.

  • Music Management & iTunes???  Help Please!

I have several issues that I'm hoping someone can give me some helpful hints for. I looked through about 23 pages of forum posts, but couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for.
I have music stored all over my computer. It's in various directories & folders, rather randomly slung all over my HD. Some of it was due to a computer upgrade a couple years ago that I never bothered to clean-up properly after the move. The rest is due to just poor import/copy management.
Short of doing a labor intensive manual clean-up (i.e. creating a new master folder, copying everything into it and deleting any unwanted or duplicates) ... can iTunes still do a system search and copy it all in to one main folder? There used to be a "search system" feature, but I've yet to find it in 7.5.0. I tried using the library consolidation feature, but that accomplished exactly nothing. IIRC from another post, it was supposed to ask me where/what I wanted to consolidate. No such luck. Just a button to push that said "consolidate". That I can see, no real change was made.
My other question is ... if I do do a manual clean-up is there a method for doing a fresh re-creation of my library while keeping my playlists and podcasts intact?
I really really need a music management overhaul, but don't particularly want to spend a week doing it.
    Thanks~
    Kat

+I did try the add a folder command ... that picked up a few, but not all.+
That could mean a couple of things. There is a known problem with Add Folder where it will sometimes fail to complete on large adds. If that is what's happening, do it in smaller batches by adding subfolders. The other thing that could be happening is incompatible files. Try to add a missing file individually using File > Add File to Library. If it does not add, there is an issue with the file.
+So that brings me to my next question. Once I get together a master folder with all my wanted songs in one place ... what is going to be the best way to rebuild my library while keeping my playlists intact?+
Once the files are in your iTunes library, do not manually move or rename anything. Use the Consolidate command. It retains play counts, playlist membership, etc.
By the way, if you haven't backed up your hard drive lately, now would be a good time to do so.

  • 'Not enough memory' error using Music Manager with...

When I connect my brand new 6300 to my PC, and try to copy an mp3 onto the phone (either C: phone or E: memory card (128Mb)) the software says 'There is not enough memory in the phone.' This is a lie as the phone is brand new and I have put nothing on it!
I have tried reformatting the 128Mb SD card that came with the phone but to no avail.
The only way I can get music onto the phone is in Data transfer mode, upon which the music files seem to work fine - hence not a problem with the memory card.
    Any suggestions?
    Nokia PC Suite 6.83.14.1
Windows XP with Service Pack 2
    Nokia 6300 Phone
    microSD card 128Mb

In Music Manager go to the menu -> Options -> Settings
and at the last tab "Nokia 6300" (This tab will appear only if you connect your nokia 6300 with the PC)
Set the path to the music file which is pointed to your memory card. Ex. "E:\Musics"
BTW "C:\..." Means the phone memory itself.Message Edited by meji1000 on 19-Jul-200710:18 AM

  • Music Manager - Not Recognising Album/Artist

    Hi All,
This seems to be a bit of a **bleep** - Music Manager is not recognising my Track/Album/Artist titles when I import my music files.
I keep all my tunes in iTunes. Now, I think probably 90% or above of the world population use iTunes to manage their music files, so I'm assuming Music Manager would have been developed with this in mind and should integrate fully on something as simple as a track/artist/album title tag?
Or is there something stupid I'm doing - I have a 5500 and run XP, all up to date.
It's damn annoying to have hundreds of songs on your phone, but when you go jogging/snowboarding/holidays you can't tell which artists you've got on there!
Any news on this chaps? I really don't want to be individually editing hundreds or thousands of tags - is there an update planned for this? Seems like a big bugbear for what are supposed to be 'media phones'.
    Any news greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Darren.

    Hi,
What you can do is from your phone songs copy those songs into My collection of Nokia Music Manager, then all your artists details will be displayed if the artist column is checked (ticked) in Customize view in View option of Nokia Music Manager, the songs which are copied in My collection only be displayed... Yeah i too agree this is an akward but this is how it works
