New GPU compatibility

I've got an HPE h8-1070t and I want to put an EVGA 750ti in. I've got an EVGA 600B PSU. Everything else in the case is from the original PC. I've tried a few times to put the new gpu in and I always get a few beeps spread out by maybe 5 sec each and then 4-5 beeps in quick succession. Before the beeps the computer stays at the boot screen and I can't press esc/F10 etc. any help would be great!

With the original video card installed, power up the PC and enter the BIOS. In the security tab go to Slot Security and disable security on the PCI Express x16 Slot 1. Don't forget to save the change  before exiting BIOS.  Once that is done, remove the original video card and install the new card in the PCI Express x16 Slot 1 and power it up.

  • Titan Z GPU Compatibility with a D20

I have a D20 4155 with and Xeon X5687 single processor and 12 MB RAM.  I currently have a Quadro 4000 Video Card installed.  I create flow simulations that are extremely math intensive and can take days to complete relying only on the CPU.
I am looking into a new software that utilizes the processing power of the GPU but they do not recommend the Quadro 4000 and therefore they do not support it.   The only ones they will support are Nvidia Tesla K40, Nvidia Tesla K80, GeForce GTX Titan Black and GeForce GTX Titan Z.
The GeForce GTX TITAN Z is in my price range and the one I would like to use.
My main question is will my D20 system handle this work horse of a GPU?
2nd question is can I install it along side of the Quatro 4000 which I use for my dual monitors and just use the Titan Z for the computations.
    Thank you for any help.

    welcome to the forum
with a TDP of 375W, i don't see a reliable way to provide enough power to a titan Z in the D20 while running alongside a Q4000 and an X5687.   you're likely going to exceed one of the power rails with this combo.   on top of that, nvidia doesn't support mixing quadro and geforce cards in the same system so this would be uncharted territory from both a driver conflict and reliability standpoint.
conversely, the K40 has a 235W TDP and should work in the D20 with the caveat that it's not been tested or qualified in the D20.   the other catch here is that nvidia also doesn't officially support mixing quadro and kepler cards, although these have a far greater chance of interoperability than geforce and quadro since driver families aren't being mixed.
my vote would be on the K40, keeping in mind that you might want to consider a kepler-based card as your display card to replace the Q4000.   for this i would suggest a K2000 or K200D since it performs on-level with the Q4000 and frees up a PCIe power drop to use with the K40.
there's no way i'd recommend the titan Z in your system whatsoever.

  • New GPU Quadro k5200 installed and having problem with my AE, PPro CS6  not using the GPUs cuda.

Hi guys, I recently bought a workstation from BOXX tech with a new GPU Quadro k5200 installed in it.
I am having problem with my AE, PPro CS6 using the GPUs cuda.
I went to Nvidia Settings and use the specific App to select it to use GPU n- Quadro k5200. But still not working.
    Please help

If you edited the Cudatextfile in the Adobe Premiere CS6 directory correctly then the acceleration should be enabled. The only way it it's not is if you have the wrong driver for that version of Adobe or did not edit the text file with the exact name of the card. You can use the GPUsniffer in that same Premiere directoy with the command prompt to see the name the GPU should be listed as. The Ray Tracer file in AE has to be edited with the same listing.

  • P67a gd55 problem with a new gpu

    Hi!
I just upgraded to an hd7970. Now I don't get any signal at all to my screen. Not even bios is loading. I've made sure everything is properly in place and connected on 8-pin and one 6-pin pci-express cable. When I plug in old gpu it works again. When I plug in the new card the fans start as usual at startup. I got a thermaltake tough power 750w psu. I've tried to rule it out to three things that can be wrong.
    1. Gpu was dead on arrival.
    2. My psu is too weak to fully drive the new gpu.
    3. My motherboard won't recognize the new gpu.
I recently had problems with trying to flash bios with live update and had to flash back to version 1c.

    Quote from: badboy2k on 15-December-12, 20:57:09
    ok your psu has 4 +12V rails (+12v1 = 18A, +12v2 = 18A, +12v3 = 18A, +12v4 = 18A) meaning its very spread out!
only thing i can really suggest you do is see if a friend with a relativly good computer will let you try it in ther rig if they have a 600W or better psu in it to see if it works there!
even very old bios versions should see it unless your card is flashed with a GOP VBIOS for use with windows 8 but they usually state that on the box!
Okay, so if i used one of the original PCI-e and one through molex it should have been as good as it gets from my PSU?
This is a thread i started a while ago and got help with flashing back my Motherboard. Maybe it will give you some clues to what is wrong if it's not the PSU.

  • Dock Compatibility between T430 and newer T440?

I have a T430, purchased 12 months ago which I love and a 433835U mini dock plus series 3 (170w) Docking station.  I would like to get a new laptop for my wife and would like one that can plug into the same dock so she can use the 2 large screens and desk setup easily.  It appears the T440 or T440p are the replacements to the T430.  It is probably asking too much to think that one of these might be compatible with my ultrabay CD/DVD drive from my T430 but if so that would really seal the deal.  Can anyone tell me if the T440 or T440p is compatible with my dock and/or my ultrabay drive?
    Much Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum!
AFAIK, the answer to both of your questions is "no".

  • New GPU for 2011?

What do you guys think Lenovo will do for the GPU in the new T series for next year?  (I bet they go back to ATI and go for the 5000 series)
    Thinkpad T500 - Intel Core2 P8400 (2.26GHz), 4 gigs of ram, 160GB/7200rpm hard drive, ATI 3650 GPU, WSXGA+ panel

usually you would get an idea what sort of GPU will be in it, as HP or Dell could be releasing their new models closer to Christmas. Lenovo would do so within few months of that.

  • LR CC - Does new GPU usage work with multiple GPUs?

    Hello,
I have two nVidia graphics cards (3 GB memory each) in an SLI configuration.  In the spirit of getting something cool and asking for even more, I'm wondering if the new performance feature in LR CC can take advantage of both cards.  For the "Use Graphics Processor" option, only one card is listed.
    Thanks,

Thank you Sandeep.  I guess I didn't expect that to be available so quickly.
In case anyone else asks this question, the answer is . . .
    Additional Information
The Develop module is the only module that currently leverages the GPU. Processes outside the Develop module are not currently GPU accellerated. For example, the process of merging multiple images to create HDR files or panoramas does not leverage the GPU.
Only the "Main" Lightroom window is accelerated. The "Secondary" window is not accelerated by the GPU.
Leveraging more than one GPU at this time is not currently supported.

  • New GPU vs old GPU?

I was wondering how significant of an upgrade/downgrade the 9400m GPU is from the older chipsets. I've played games on the last rev of iMac with the Radeon 2400 XT. I'm considering getting the new lower end 24-inch iMac and was wondering if anyone could give me a comparison between those two chipsets (solely for gaming, no other advanced graphics i.e. video editing or 3d work). My understanding is that the 9400m is the same as in the new macbooks/pros? Any insight, whether anecdotal or evidential, would be helpful.
    Thank you very much.

The NVIDIA integrated video is very new. It remains to be seen if it is "crappy." The users who have had the +GeForce 9400M+ for a few months in MacBooks seem to think the new integrated video is pretty decent. If Apple wanted "bargain basement," they would have kept using the Intel integrated video. Seems to me they jumped at something better as soon as it became available.
I'm not sure people want to see bargain-basement chipsets in their iMac (and integrated chipsets will always be associated, fairly or unfairly, with crapness).
Wrong... Most customers will not care if it's discreet or integrated, and not even know the difference between those terms. They will just care that it works well.
For customers who do care about such details, they need to realize that integrate video was bad before because system RAM used to be very slow compared to dedicated video RAM, especially before the switch from PowerPC to Intel CPUs. The difference in speed between video RAM and system RAM is now much less extreme. Also, NVIDIA is a company that has significantly more experience making video hardware, compared to Intel's expertise. Combine the fast system RAM used by Apple in the new Macs with NVIDIA's video know-how... I think you've got pretty decent video performance for the low-end Mac systems.

  • New GPU; suggestions?

Hi, soon i will be getting a new Graphics Card. Currently i have the NVidia9800 GTX, which i'm pretty sure has been dying slowly for a few months now but that's beside the point
I use Autodesk Maya and Z-Brush as two of my main programs for work as  3D character artist, and of corse Photoshop very closely alongside them both too. I want to make use of Photoshops new 3D capabilities of painting directly onto 3D models, but currently when i try this the preformance isn't so good, so first of all can anyone suggest to me a graphics card that is suitable for this kind of work with Photoshop.
Aprantly i have to use Photoshop CS5 OpenGL settings on lowest quality otherwise for some strange reason i get odd glitches with some painting and masking tools in Photoshop which i have posted here not too long ago to find this to be the reason.... i want to be able to view at highest quality without silly glitches and stuff going on, so the GPU must also be capable of this.
    Thanks, Ricky

As a 3 d artest, to avoid the conflicts of changing driver sets on your machine I would definatly stick to the Nvidia line. The GTX 570 is around $350 currently and is double the card of the 9800 gtx and thats saying a lot since the 9800 gtx was and still is a very nice card.. The top of the line is the GTX580, at $550 bucks its sure to put a dent in your pocket.

I have the same mobo as you. What version number are you on bios wise? I have 7.12 As for your friend. HP does do frequent hardware revisions. Especially with their mobo's. So, he could essentially have a different version than both of us. Try to grab some info if you can using CPUZ and post results for mobo. Here are mine. Pay close attention to the model # and compare his with yours. Another thought. Depending on gpu brand and the bios they use. They might be more legacy bios friendly along with full UEFI support as well.
Some might only support full UEFI. Let me give you an example. I have a EVGA Superclocked GTX 660. They released a bios update for the card to support full UEFI. I flashed it and guess what? My PC would not boot up any more. Not compatible with the newer video bios. Thankfully before flashing. Since I had a bad feeling about it. I backed up my previous original bios and was able to restore them using another pc. Then putting it back in my pc. Booted up fine and works perfect again.
I am also curious. What might be the exact GTX 780 your friend is running? Brand and model wise.
