New Graphic Card on XW4600 Workstation 0AA0H motherboard

I was thinking of replacing my current graphic card with new one. These days, I have GT-730 as choice. Can I install this graphic card on my computer? I am currently using Nvidia Quadro FX 3500. I want better graphic card for this machine. I do play games sometimes.

Any PCI-E v2.0 graphics card will work just fine in a v1.0 slot. However, it is hard to guarantee that any card will work in any said motherboard for sure. I'm just letting you know that PCI-E 2.0 cards are backward compatible with PCI-E 1.x motherboards.
Judging by your other system specs, I would say the Radeon HD R5750/R5770 would be ideal, though make sure you have a 500W power supply with 34A on the +12v rail or combined if a multi-rail PSU.

  • New Graphics card for P965 Platinum

My good old P965 Platinum has lost its graphics card lately and I need to look for a replacement.
The old graphics card was an ATI X1950 XTX 512MB and has stood up well considering the vast advances in everything since then.
The problem is compatability since all new cards these days are PCI Express 3.
Does anyone have any recommendations on what newer graphics cards would work on this motherboard (if any)?

We had excellent results with GTS450 and GTX460 on MSI P965 Platinum.
But they are PCI-E 2.0 graphic cards.
You may also try GTX 650 and GTX 660, but it may fail in case of BIOS/VBIOS incompatibilities.
In any case, you need a good (single rail) PSU (at least 450W for real).
The additional PCI-E power connector is a must, because the PCI-E 1.0 slot cannot provide the power for a PCI-E 2.1 and 3.0 graphics card.

  • PCI-E 2.1 X16 Graphics card on MSI K9A2VM-FD motherboard

    Hi,
I recently bought an AMD Radeon 6870 graphics card to upgrade my aging machine. The card is a PCI-E 2.1 X16 card and unfortunately does not work with my current motherboard.
I was recently looking at the MSI K9A2VM-FD motherboard as a possible replacement that would work with my new graphics card. In the specs the board is said to have 1 PCI-E 2.0 X16 slot. I just wanted to check if this board will work with the card or not?
Any help on this front would be much appreciated. I am a uni student with limited funds from a part time job and, as a result, I can't afford to spend money just to find it doesn't work again.
Thanks in advance for your help

Thanks for your reply Whilst I acknowledge I don't have that much time for gaming, once in a while isn't going to hurt and I do need to relax sometimes
I've already bought the HD6870, so choice of card isn't the issue. I have a 700w PSU which I have tested using a friend's old board with the new HD6870 card and it worked fine, so I definitely know that the PSU is fine and that the card works. I have a foxconn A7VMX-K at the moment and updated to the latest bios to see if that sorted the issue. However this didn't work.
I am now in the market for a new board and was looking at the MSI K9A2VM-FD board. It says it has a PCI-E 2.0 X16 slot on the specs of the seller's site and on most other sites. On some it just says that it is version 2.0 compliant, which is a bit confusing. I just wondered if anyone could tell me whether the HD6870 (PCI-E 2.1 X16) would work on this board (PCI-E 2.0 X16)? Many thanks

It is an HP TouchSmart 310-1110me with Windows 8. I want to increase my dedicated memory. Can I do it without a new Graphics Card or I need to use a new one? In the latter case, can I use a new one?

    Hi,
The video processor for the TouchSmart 310-1110me is soldered to the motherboard so is not possible to replace it.  Review these specifications under Integrated Video.

Yup, wrong part of the forum.
Sven will move it next time he's here.
Pci2pci is a motherboard thing but could interfere with gfx detection.
I know you said you'd reinstalled all drivers but...
Did you get the latest drivers for your motherboard?
If that doesn't fix it I guess the next step would be a complete OS reinstall...

  • Installing new graphics card in hp p7-1155

I have a new EVGA GEFORCE GT730 2GB GDDR5 graphics card and am ready to install it in the above box.
Haggiscat suggested this board thru a previous post on this site. I have printed out the install directions from the hp help so I have the mechanics of how to install this thing. Those directions say to disable the on-board graphics card first, then go into the box and install the new card. My question is: Do I need to do anything else first such as downloading the driver first/delete the old driver first.etc? Also, I have a disc that came with the new card. Do I use that to get the drivers or go to the invidia website? I want this install to go as smoothly as possible so expert help would be appreciated.
I'm not sure how to direct you to the previous post but it's in this section. Take a look for some background.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I suggest that your carefully read the instructions published by EVGA.   I have multiple EVGA graphics cards and none of the directions ever suggested to uninstall the old video drivers prior to installing the new graphics card.  Use the drinver disk that comes with the graphics card after your boot up. The default Windows drivers will work and then you can install the EVGA supplied drivers.  EVGA also has a web site that you can obtain later drivers that have been tested by EVGA for your graphics card.
The modern HP motherboards will automatically switch to the discrete graphics card if detected and if it is compatible with the BIOS and motherboard.
The NVIDIA 7xx series graphic cards have been problematic with HP motherboards using a version 7 BIOS.  some may work and some may not work.
The reality is that there is no a guarantee that any particular graphics card will work in any particular PC even if the graphics card works in other PCs or even the same or similar model PCs. Know what the return policy is before you buy.

  • Help with installing new graphics card

Hi I have a 3 year old hpe575a (hp pavillion)
    Intel i7 2600, 8gb ram
Orginally had a ati hd radeon  2gb (not sure what model)
    in it
after 2 years the radeon finally melted ( always had overheating problems in the australian summer )
so I bought a nvidia gtx630m which had the same connections and power requirements and connections as the radeon
I csnt seem to get it working, despite the card powering up, and loading the splash screen it doesnt go any further, I can get to the network boot screen or the hp splash screen but no further, and I cant find any bios updates for my mptherboard (pegatron) so do I need a new motherboard? The computer works 100% fine without the new graphics card
Should I get a new motherboard. Or graphics card? which would be cheaper? or is there someway to get the current system to work with the new graphics card? thanks -zac

    Hi,
The existing card is an "AMD Radeon HD6570 (2 GB)". I don't know how you can fit a Nvidia GTX630M to your machine because this card is for laptop:
         http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-630m/specifications
Probably you are talking about the following card:
        http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-630/specifications
The card should be able to use 300W PSU on your machine (no need new PSU). My suggestion:
    (a) Update BIOS to the latest one, please check, should be "Version7.15 Rev. A" the motherboard is Cleveland

    (b) Install driver for new card
    Hope this helps.

  • Need guidance on new graphics card connectivity.

    Hey,
I want to upgrade my current graphics card "ATI Radeon 4800 Series" to a newer more capable graphics card mainly for gaming. (Black Ops is coming out tomorrow and I feel it's time for an update)
My current PC specification is as follows:
    Harddrive: 500GB
    RAM: 4GB
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.80GHz
    Motherboard: GF 7050V-M7
    PSU: 650W
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 4800 Series
Operating System: Windows XP Service Pack 3
I need your help to find me a new graphics card that it is compatible with my motherboard/other components at around £130!
    Thanks for your time!
    Hatton

You need to re-read what I said... I said if he wanted to build a new computer based on a new motherboard, I did NOT say this would be a pop-in replacement for his existing motherboard
There are several ASUS models, I picked the P6T SE since it had the right balance of features and price
I have 6x2Gig ram sticks for 12Gig... if I was building today, now that prices are lower, I would start with 3x4Gig to leave room for adding 12Gig later
I use the onboard sound and it works fine for my needs
As well as an nVidia GTX285 (today, I would buy a GTX470) I have a Pinnacle Dv500 digitizing card, which I use via dual-boot with WinXP

  • Problems with BIOS for new graphics card!!! HEEELP!!!!

Hello,I just recently received my new graphics card (Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960), and I am having some troubles getting it to work with my computer (p7-1072sc). I go myself a new PSU (Crossair CX600M), istalled it properly, pluged all the components up and put in the new GPU. Every time I turn on the PC, it freezes at the blue HP loading screen and does not respond to any keys. After some google searching I found out that I most likley would have to update my BIOS, so I went to the HP homepage. Entered my modelnumber, downloaded the new BIOS update (My current version was 7.14 13.10.2011), the update said the version was 7.15 05.25.2013. I downloaded the exe file, closed all other programs and ran the file. I started out as normal, but as the main installationprocess started I got the message that hpprobar3 stoped working. The computer freezed for a short while and then I got the message that the new BIOS had bin successfully installed, so I restarted the comuter. After that I checked back on the systems information and the version had bin changed to 7.15, but the date was still 13.10.2011. I tried the same rpocess again and the same thing happened.  I ried again to put in the new GPU, and it still froze on the blue HP loading screen. I also tried to find the directory for the BIOS file (sp55548.exe) (to make a flash installation), under c:/swsetup, but I only found one folder named sp68021. Can anyone help me with this?? I would really appreciate any advice sort of advice!!!
PS: I am pretty new to all this stuff, so please be patient and explain any technical informoation or terms.

As stated before, and as a refresher. I just got off the line with MSI and EVGA.  What you have is a Legacy motherboard. It can not function with a UEFI BIOS graphic card. That said:MSI (Greg):  The 750Ti NF has a switch for Legacy/UEFI.  All others in the 700 series are UEFI.  The 900 series, plus the R7, R9 ship with the new VBIOS, a hybrid that detects the correct BIOS (Legacy/UEFI). EVGA (Kayon): All 600 and 700 except the 750Ti are Legacy.

  • Help purchasing / installing a new graphics card

I am looking to buy a new graphics card as mine isnt good. I was told by a friend to get a nvidia gtx 660 (im not good with computer parts and installing stuff) I wanted to be sure that it would be compatable with my computer. My graphics card is a AMD Radeon HD 7560 HD , And my procceser is AMD A8-5500 APU with Radeon HD Graphics.

You need to check a few things...
      1. Do you have an open PCI-e x16 slot on your motherboard?
      2. Does your PC have a Power Supply with 24+ amps on the 12V rail and has a free 6-pin Auxiliary power connector?
If 1. is not true, you are stuck with the integrated graphics.
If 2. is not true and 1 is true, you will need to replace your power supply as well.
Let's see if we can simplify this...
What is the Make/Model of your PC (if it's a pre-built Dell, HP, etc.) or, if it's custom, provide a component list.
Check the power supply for a model number. If you can find it, provide it.

  • Bios freezes on Hp IPISB-CH2 with new graphic card installed

I own HP Pavilion Elite HPE H8 1010cs. Motherboard is HP IPISB-CH2. I bought new graphic card GAINWARD Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB together with 600W PSU Corsair CX600M. Hello @Tomas83,
I understand that you are having issues getting your HP Pavilion HPE h8-1010cs Desktop PC towork with your Gainward GeForce® GTX 970 Phantom 4GB Graphics Card. I believe the reason you are experiencing this issue is the the break in the downward compatibility on the PCIe slots was broken at around the Gen 2.1 mark and you are trying to put a Gen 3.0 card in a Gen 1.0 slot. This in essence makes your computer incompatible with the graphics card you have chosen to use.  I am providing you an article on the overclock.net website titled The final answer to the controversial PCIe x16 version compatibility., where the author explains what I described and goes into how he made the determination. I would advise you review the article if you have any questions concerning the issue you are facing.

  • Speaker problem with t420i and adding a new graphics card question

I bought a t420i about a month ago and noticed that the speakers could not properly handle muliple sounds at once.  What happens is that, say in a music video, the music plays loud and clear, but once the lyrics start the background music fades a bit to about 85% of it's original volume.  I had returned the laptop because of this problem but the replacement I got has the SAME exact problem.
In case im not clear, try this example.  You know the beeping noise you get when you press an incompatible set of keys?  ( like g, h, and b).  When I have this noise going simultaneously with a song, the song's sound fades a bit.
This does not happen with headphones, therefore i believe the problem is with the way the speakers are programmed.
Also, if I bought a t420 with just integrated graphics, could I still add a new graphics card?  Or can you only add a new graphics card to a thinkpad that initially comes with discrete graphics?

I think the main purpose of the nvs4200m is the ability to use three displays (internal + 2 external). Additionally, nVidia has better driver support for games so even though it is around the same speed, the drivers are better.
The shared ram is still used, unless you disable the HD3000 in the BIOS and run with only the nvs4200m at all times.
