New GT70 ONE network card update

So I have just purchased a new GT70 ONE 610us and the killer networking is brutally slow, download speeds of 0.86 Mbps uploads 0.84 Mbps ping 22 on speedtest.net My  win 7 laptop 4 yrs old is getting 8.14 Mbps down, 0.92 Mbps upload, ping 10. I have found the update for the killer card, my question is on there site they say " You need only uninstall QUALCOMM ATHEROS PERFORMANCE SUITE " of which I do not have. I have Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Suite (64) version 8.0.0.206 and Qualcomm Atheros Killer Network Manager version 6.1.0.437. So what do I uninstall both, because the replacement is a suite ?  Also the quick keys along the top left side turbo, cooler and klm appear to be working, but the right side wifi, display, and media tray open are not working. I suspect this is a physical hardware issue and not software, where a re install would cure ? Two issues otherwise rocks.
Thanks for your thoughts

Thanks you, I have exchanged the laptop as it was 2 days old. I will try the driver cleaner. Perhaps you could advise me on the recovery media is there a way to separate out the different entities, as my OCD moment is that I really prefer clean installs over upgrades and software updates, plus I have a Korea media  player and messenger that do not seem to be removable, trialware etc. ? Also why does the system not put all data on D: data. On my win7 machine was able to install an ssd as primary drive and run a sys prep tool to tell windows os on C: and data on D:. Is this possible on this machine ?
Thank you for your thoughts
Ken
The MSI install is rather clean actually. I  believe there was a total of 5 small programs to uninstall for my GT70. Knowing that, I'd rather just use their backup media and uninstall those, as I'm not re-installing windows every few months anymore.
I'm not really sure what you're asking in the 2nd part about the primary and secondary drives....You can make Windows do nearly whatever you want, if you set it up properly.

  • Use only one network card with Edge

    hi,
is it ok to configure single network card for the edge and do the static routing on that network card. is it supported if yes then kindly providee me the Technet article. If it is not supported then kindly provide me technet article which says that one network
card for lync edge is not supported.
    Thanx
    SKHATRI

    Hello all,
Thanks a lot for your post. May i know the following clarification as i want to use single interface at EDGE server.
    Unsupported Scenario
A Consolidated Edge cannot be deployed with a single Network Interface in the environment as the roles has a requirement to have and bind separate IP addresses for internal and external services. At the same time, a single multihomed
network adapter connected to a same IP sub-network for both internal and external routes is not supported for the A/V Edge role specifically.
    – Did not understand why not supported, in TCP/IP communication, what will be the issue? If I make sure that external and internal users see the EDGE server with different IP.  External
users will see the EDGE server with public IP. The external users will not able to connect internal interface in any case.  Internal users/server will see the EDGE server with private IP. They will be able to connect with public IP /service (port).
Besides that, if i use 2 NIC but IP will be from same subnet of DMZ what will be the issue.
    Appritiate your response.
    Thanks
    Ashif

    Software:

Oracle RAC 11.2.0.2.0 (Clusterware, DB) – 2 nodes
    Environment:
AD network. Everything is MS based.
    Problem description:
During RAC installation, company had only one network card (server network card, per node). Installation was successfully finished. RAC was/is in production. Has some problems, but noting for alarm.
This days, we get other network cards. (purpose: network redundancy).
    RAC shutdown was clean.
Network card inserted to nodes by OS Admin.
    Nodes was started up... and...
OS Admin disabled network card immediately after logon screen was available... but to late...
Windows changed network card order!!! PublicLAN was not at the first place when Cluster started (Network and sharing center -> change adapter settings -> Advanced (from menu) -> Advanced Settings -> Adapters and Bindings)!!! (I found in logs that MAC address changed at this point!)
Cluster started hardware reconfiguration... and... we could not stop CW till starting up finished... ! After stopping CW again, we set PublicLan at first place, and every win setting was as at the moment of installation.
Cluster was started again, DB, OEM too...
Everything is working. Client can connect to DB, applications work well... but...
Damage is done... now we have totally new IP situation inside... changes are saved to the DNS, too!!!
Before inserting network card IP settings (nslookup from any client) :
    rac1 192.168.217.60
    rac1-vip 192.168.217.62
    rac2 192.168.217.61
    rac2-vip 192.168.217.63
    rac-scan 192.168.217.64
    192.168.217.65
    192.168.217.66
After this incident (nslookup from any client):
    rac1 192.168.217.60
    192.168.217.62
    192.168.217.64
    192.168.217.66
    rac2 192.168.217.61
    192.168.217.63
    192.168.217.65
    192.168.217.66
VIP and SCAN IP address are the same as before...
nslookup show as that rac1,rac2,rac-scan change IP addresses in round-robin scenario!!!
We stopped RAC couple of time and OS Admin cleared DNS records (both zone)... but every start of cluster make changes again in DNS.
    Other "side-effects":
Some cluster commands, invoked from CMD, fire errors (lsnodes, cluvfy comp nodecon -n rac1,rac2).
Configuration files seem to be correct (listeners, scan, scan_listeners, etc). srvctl and crsctl command are working without errors. oifcfg too.
Logs are full of errors (like: ASM could not be reached... no listener)
    Listener(s) stop working sometime...
Relocation of resource are not possible.
Well, I mentioned the most important things... other alerts and errors in logs are present, but everything is connected with this issue, I think...
As I said: RAC working. Clusterware, DB, OEM, connections, applications, backup... everything look good... but we have a problem!!!
Any ideas, any suggestion, any link, any advice, anything are welcome!
    Thanks!
    PS.
Metalink haven't any document about this... I've found a lot of examples for changing IP's, interfaces, interconnection... but noting about fixing problem!

I'm having the same issue. My desktop pc keeps dropping the connection to my network (airport extreme router) while the rest of my devices (macbook pro, xbox, mac mini) still stay connected. The pc never had this issue prior to installing Windows 7 so im guessing there must be something with the Windows 7 OS.

  • Configure multiple network card with netcfg

Hello Archers! I am a happy new user of Arch Linux . I wanna say that your community is really great, thanks to all the people giving help out there.
    My question is:
I must configure two eth interfaces, I have the both configured but sometimes I need to change configuration for connecting to other network that needs only one network card with other IP. I would like to select the configuration trough the "NET_PROFILES=menu" line in /etc/rc.conf or with the "netcfg" command but I don't know how to configure TWO interfaces in ONE profile of the /etc/network-profiles/* files?
    Both networks have Static IP.
I search on the forums and do not find anything useful. I'm sorry if is there something in other post that I doesn't read.

    TuxLyn,
this netcfg profile works OK for me for a long time now:
    CONNECTION="ethernet"
    DESCRIPTION="Bridge: nVidia Corporation MCP55 Ethernet (rev a2)"
    INTERFACE=eth1
    #HOSTNAME="archabit64"

    DHCLIENT=no
    POST_UP="ip addr add 192.168.2.115/24 broadcast 192.168.2.255 dev eth1"
Of course, yours is more circunvoluted, but perhaps it helps.
    ip addr outputs:

  • KA780G second network card doesn't work

    Hi everybody,
Today, I put an second network card on the KA780G board (it's for a round robin network), on a free PCI slot, and this card isn't recognised by Linux and Windows  (in Windows XP, when the network card is connected, my graphical card works bad as well).
I tested this network card in another computer and it's working well, I try with another type of network card and it's not working.
I upgraded the BIOS with the latest release and reset the bios parameters but it doesn't work.
Do I need to put some specifics parameters in the BIOS ?
    Someone as an idea ?
    Thanks
    Matt

As you want... but I know the truth
Transfert a file takes me twice the time when the second network card was unpluged (the test was made with two differents files with the same size, this is for keeping disk caching speeding the transfert).
I think, your're not understanding, so let me explain the achitecture of my network : two computers pluged to my "super magic switch" (each with one network card) and my NAS with two round robin's network card.
I transfert one file from the NAS to the first computer and at the same time another file from the NAS to the second computer. The network speed was (on the NAS) about 24MB/s (see with the system monitor).
If you're right explain me why many people using port trunking with their switches ?
    Matt.

  • Dbconsole configuration - two network cards

    Hi,
I have two network cards in the Solaris server and
    Oracle 11g2 EE database server.
One network card is used for connection to the application (data network). Connection though standard port 1521.Database configured using server name defined for Net1 card and I can connect to the Oracle database using net1 card from apps server.
Second card is the management card (connected to the management network).
Is it possible to use it for connection to the dbconsole installed in the database ORACLE_HOME?
If yes, how I should configure dbconsole that I can see dbconsole web window through net2 card.
    Thanks,
    Oleg

    Messy setup IMO, but anyway....
Your faulty resolv.conf is the reason you can't ping google. Edit it manually as required, and then use the -R flag in /etc/conf.d/dhcpcd to prevent it being overwritten. DHCP on both interfaces will probably cause routing issues as well, in which case you will need the -G flag.

  • Onboard Network Card problems?

ok, I started having the following errors and warnings in the event logger after having upgraded my bios to the 2.00 version.
    EVENTID: 1003 & 1006 SOURCE: Dhcp - Warning
EVENTID: 2505 SOURCE: Server - Error
I can still use ixplorer, but all otherprogram that requires listening to ports like port 113 f.e. are unavailable. The system will produce a sound whenever an error occurs.
    any suggestions?

thnx for the links Toxteth O'Grady
I am not sure I understand the erromessage of event 2505 though:
"The server could not bind to the transport \Device\NetbiosSmb because another computer on the network has the same name.  The server could not start."
There is noone else on my network with the same named computer as mine. By name, it is my understanding, it's the network ID?
Nor do I understand the ID 1003:
"Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 000C76205A46.  The following error occured:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server."
    Things I've done so far:
*setting a new ID name for the computer
    *renewing and releasing the ipadresse.
*checking for program that might be blocking the 113 port
*installed new driver on Network card
*cursed at the screen and the beeps
    *reinstalled the tcp/ip protocols
is there any program that I might run to troubleshoot my connectivity, check my ports, look for network errors, etc?

  • Network card name switching.

Hello. I have a problem with NICs switching names. I followed Wiki and added 10-network.rules in /etc/udev/rules.d but it seems there is no effect.
    /etc/udev/rules.d/10-network.rules
    SUBSYSTEM=="net", ATTR{address}=="11:11:11:11:11:11", name="eth0"
    SUBSYSTEM=="net", ATTR{address}=="00:11:11:11:11:11", name="eth1"
    SUBSYSTEM=="net", ATTR{address}=="00:00:11:11:11:11", name="eth2"
MAC addresses have been hidden but the one in my config are correct.
I have 1 NIC onboard (eth0) and one network card with dual port (eth1,eth2).
Also what is the difference beteen ATTR{address} and ATTRS{address}?
    Wiki mentions something about:
With a recent version of udev, this problem should be solved automatically thanks to the /usr/lib/udev/write_net_rules program which runs the 75-persistent-net-generator.rules script which produces a 70-persistent-net.rules.
I can't find any of those files.

  • Controlling Two Network Card by LabVIEW

    Hi,
I'm using LabVIEW 8.5 and Windows XP.
I am intending to use LabVIEW to control a PC with 2 network cards in it.
I want to send TCP/IP packet out from one network card,
and receive the packet from another network card.
Do I have to change the confguration of the XP system?
How can I assign those two different cards to send and receive individually?
Can anyone tell or suggest what to do for me
    Thank you very much~ ^^

You will not be able to directly prohibit the network cards from receiving or transmitting. You can define your network routes on the PC to route the traffic in the manner you want. Each network adapter will need to have its own IP address. NI's Internet Tool kit has a few issues, most notably the FTP VIs, when using multiple NICs. In addition, any DNS requests made will be routed to the primary network card. Windows determines which interface it thinks is the primary interface. From a code perspective using the native TCP or UDP VIs you will not have to do anything special.

  • Update/Installation of itunes 10 disables network card

Installation of latest itunes version (10) results in disabling my network card. The only way I've been able to restore is a system restore. I own 3 ipods and am totally frustrated with support structure. I have tried the following with no success.
Uninstall all Apple software as per a support article. 1) itunes 2)Quicktie 3) Apple Soft Upd 4) Mobile Dev Sup 5) Bonjour 6) Apple Applic Supp. Followed by a manual cleanup of the associated program files director and system32 directories.
I finally located a version 9.1 download but get msg that later version is installed. I followed another support tip for renaming library. Tried with several previous library files and could not find one that would allow install to continue.
Does anyone have ideas? Please, please, please.

I am having the same problem here, and am EXTREMELY frustrated... I was so excited to download the new iPad OS. Argh, I hate iTunes. Have you found a solution? Okay so here are my details:
I'm operating a homemade PC on a FoxCon Motherboard, with a RealTek built in wired LAN port.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
I first tried upgraded from within iTunes. needed to a computer restore to get network back up and running. Tested all the hardware first to ensure it wasn't hardware.
After retoring, iTunes was broke. I downloaded from the web and tried to install. iTunes was still broke, and the network died again.
Needed to do a system restore again.
Completely uninstalled iTunes from the system. Ran Windows Update to ensure I had all of the updated drivers.
Redownloaded and installed iTunes 10.1 again, and once again, it broken the network connection.
I downloaded the motherboard and LAN port drivers from their website on another machine, and installed them via a USB port on the machine with iTunes. No change.
    I uninstalled iTunes again.
    Called support
They had me setup a new user on the computer, then uninstall Bonjour, 2 Apple software (Mobile and serice), and Quicktime and restart the computer. When the computer came back on I logged in as the new user and the network was again broke.
Did system restore back to after I did the windows update earlier today.
He had me uninstall the apple services again, and then setup the new user. By the time I got to this point the network was down again.
He asked me to a restart, no fix.
He transfered me to a senior support person who didn't have any other ideas.
I tried using the iTunes installation file I saved from before to reinstall now that everything was off, hoping it might reset the network, it did not.
I've restored the system again back to the Windows Update earlier today and am very unsatisfyingly giving up and waiting for Apple's Support Engineers to get back to me in a few days. If anyone knows of any other solutions, my iPad will thank you after it gets updated.

  • Using modem Sagem f@st 3464 (Scarlet One : vdsl   tv   VoIP   wi-fi) : impossible to create a new Wi-Fi network (2.4 or 5 GHz) ? Conflict with DHCP / NAT and so on. No answer from the Apple help desk, Air Port Utility 6.1 unusable (configuration = Win 7)

    Good afternoon,
My internet connection is delivered by a modem Sagem f@st 3464 (Scarlet One : vdsl   tv   VoIP   wi-fi), it's almost the same than a BBox-2 from Belgacom (software and configuration).
This modem has 4 ethernet port, 2 for TV, 2 for LAN, the WAN port is RJ-11 and the connection is a PPPoE (in fact, it's the Belgacom network). I also got a Wi-Fi 802.11g on it.
The main raison why I bought a TC is the dual Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (for 802.11n), especially for my MacBook Pro and my iPad 3.
First of all, can I do the following with my TC :
    1) connecting the TC using a ethernet cable from one of the two modem's LAN ports to the TC's WAN port
    2) create a new Wi-Fi network using the TC ?
Up to now, after 2 man days of configuration, my TC is connected to my existing LAN network, as a bridge, but there is no new Wi-Fi network.
The Airport Utility 6.1 "Wizard" is just un-usable and I need to use a Win 7 laptop in order to get access to all the configuration !
The standard manual is very poor.
Does someone already create a new Wi-Fi network using its TC connected by Ethernet on a modem/router device ? How do you set up the DHCP (and NAT) ? Which range did you use ?
    Sincerely yours,
    AVDB

    1) connecting the TC using a ethernet cable from one of the two modem's LAN ports to the TC's WAN port
    2) create a new Wi-Fi network using the TC ?
Does someone already create a new Wi-Fi network using its TC connected by Ethernet on a modem/router device ? How do you set up the DHCP (and NAT) ? Which range did you use ?
This is easy enough to do..
Plug the TC directly into a computer.. without other connections to do the setup.
Using the newly installed 5.6 utility.
    Bridge the TC.
    Create a wireless network.
This is an older screen shot and I would set security to WPA2 Personal only not WPA/WPA2 Personal as shown above.
I do recommend you use wireless names that are short, no spaces, pure alphanumeric.
    Update the TC..
Now plug it into the modem router.. it will be a part of the network without doing NAT and DHCP itself.. which you do not want.. that leads to double NAT issues.. but it is a WAP that provides access to devices on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands directly to the main router.

The actual problem seems to be that you are using the wrong Linux distribution for you Laptop. Enterprise Linux was not designed for consumer grade hardware. To further troubleshoot the problem you will need to check for relevant output of "dmesg", i.e. check if the firmware and driver that was loaded for the device. You should also check "lspci -v" w/o grep to see more detailed information for the device.
Are you trying the latest Oracle Linux 6 update 2?
    What is your hardware?
Beware that no Oracle database products are yet certified for EL6 yet, so you should better stick to Oracle Linux 5 update 7 instead.
If the purpose of your installation is research and development I suggest to install Windows as your primary OS and run Oracle Linux inside Virtualbox. Check the following link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.html
