I need help know what to do in this situation. My laptop crashed and I have installed a new hard drive and now I am trying to get all the music on my IPOD back into my library without having to add all the music again. Please let me know what I have to do.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. Relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

I have an iTunes account. My son and I have purchased songs thru the same account. I have my songs in iTunes in my mac desktop. He has his songs in his iPod.
My desktop's hard drive recently died and had to be replaced. I had all my songs backed up so no problem there.
But my son did not have all his songs in his iPod.
When I go to the iTunes store I see all the songs we have purchased but I can't figure out how to download them again to the new hard drive.

They have been known to allow users, on a case by case basis, to re-download songs ONE TIME.
If they do allow this, make sure to back up any purchases immediately.
Also, if the songs are on an iPod, they can be taken off the iPod back onto the computer.

I already added my Purchased songs to the new iTunes on my computer. Is there any way to import all of 500+ songs that are from CDs that are on my ipod onto iTunes? I can't reupload the CDs to my computer because I live in Korea now and all my CDs are in the states. And if I can't upload these songs onto my computer, is there a way for me to download new music on iTunes and add them to my ipod without losing my 500 songs that are on my ipod but not the computer?

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases.

I'd ask in the iTouch forum where there are more iTouch users there than here and they should know how to off load the photos. It might take a 3rd party app.

What does "the registration won't let me" mean? If the serial number is rejected, contact support by web chat. for anything else you need to provide proper technical information and actually explain your issue.

New Hard Drive- How to upload from iPod Photo without access to old drive

Needed to purchase/install a new hard drive after Windows corruption on my old pc. My iPod Photo is completely backed up with my entire library/playlists, etc. Old music files were copied to my new hard drive but the iTunes application needs to be reloaded. I have erased everything buit that didn't work, I have tried to reinstall from the apple disk so...I am thinking it is time for a new hard drive( I think, but not sure) where do I get one and if I sdo will it help the problem?

Did you try zeroing the Drve before installing?
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
   2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
      *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
   3. Click the Erase tab.
   4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
   5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
   6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion hopefully you'll be able to install.

If you originally downloaded it thru Adobe, then that will be your only option to download it - thru your account. If it is not provided as a link, there is likely nothing anyone can do here to change that.

I had to get a new hard drive and have managed to get all of my old music back into itunes but my computer does not read my ipod and has not updated the new music that I have purchased thru itunes or music I have downloaded from a disc since installing the new hard drive. Drive crashed-have new hard drive, how to load music so Itunes can find it?

My system crashed, had everything backed up on an external. I am using an I: drive (it is a different and larger hard drive), vs. the original C: drive that crashed. What is the best way to load back my music so Itunes can recognize the songs and playlists. I have the most recent I tunes's library and music library saved. Is there another file that stores the original addresses to the songs? They are mostly mp3 files.
When I loaded the songs, I can only individually point to the new song. Do I have to copy the songs back to the C drive and then phsically move? Or can I somehow point it to my new my music folder? I have over 10,000 songs and quite a few playlists, so I don't want to do it manually.

my computer broke (its a dell) and since its fairly new, my computer guy had to replaced the memory and hard drive. everything was wiped out, my documents, pictures, and my itunes library. i had to install itunes again, but i still had my account but all the music was wiped out. luckily my ipod has all my music on it and was updated before my computer crashed. how do i safely transfer all the music on my ipod to my library? will it all go in under one playlist or can i transfer it so my playlists (purchased, favs, etc...) are added as well?
