  • KEY VR2R7-KDKY4-8FJMD-W6TXJ-TCHCC. NEW HDD FITTED BUT MY RECOVERY DISCS NOT RECOGNISED, TESTS OK

Bought Notebook 2011. GREAT! But Hard disk "imminent failure " after 13 months. Managed to save backup to disks and Borrowed my wife's DELL and bought new HDD, but didn't fit it till 2014, then was told it was wrong one. In April, spent more cash on correct HDD from PC WORLD, fitted it, but now black screen and "NO BOOTABLE DEVICE". Did all HDD AND memory tests - all passed. Checked error log (only two errors - 0301 and 03F0). The dates are all on the 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th April, 2015.

  • Lenovo G550 move partition to new HDD (including one key recovery)

    Hi guys.
    I have a Lenovo G550 laptop.
I am looking to change out the existing stock HDD with a new SSD drive (from what I understand from other Lenovo support services, it is SATA II compatible (see http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Essential/Lenovo-G550-HDD-SATA-I-or-SATA-II/ta-p/692351)...
Firstly. Is it possible to change the stock HDD with an SSD drive? I have a budget of about $100 AUD so it would only be a 60-120gb HDD. Would 60gb be enough (I really only need about 30gb of space on the c: drive), or would I need to look at the 120gb option.
Secondly, is there any way of migrating the entire contents of the existing HDD to the SSD HDD?
I have the ability to connect them both externally, and a spare blank 1TB HDD that I can use in the interim if needs be.
Ultimately I would like the SSD drive to have the one key boot partition and the original Windows on it. I don't mind loosing all my programs and files - I can back them up and install them in my leisure.
To complicate matters, my DVD drive isn't working (but I do have an external DVD drive I may be able to use, even possibly booting from. But not 100% sure if I can boot from it!)
And to further complicate matters, the laptop has recieved quite a bit of use, so the sticker with the product key number has been worm off. Argh!
Thank-you in advance for the assistance.
    Cheers,
    Dale.

Just done this with a G770.
Simply back up all the HD with Acronis or something to your 1TB disk. Not sure how you would connect this. USB would be best.
Exchange the laptop HD for the SSD
Boot Acronis with the CD and Restore your backup.
    Works fine.
You'll have to check the bios to see if you can boot from Ext DVD.

  • How to make Recovery Partition in my new HDD (Win8.1)

    I already re-install my Win8 with usb.
But after finish the installation (I choose Fully Clean in my new HDD), why there is no Recovery Partition like my old HDD (original HDD)?
how to make a Recovery Partition in my new HDD?
    Thx

    Creating the recovery partition
Right-click the start orb, and start 'Disk Management'.
Shrink the C: drive by let's say 20-30GB.
Then create a new Partition and assign the R: label to it and name it RECOVERY.
Then open command prompt as administrator and type: 'recimg /createimage <directory>',
In this case: 'recimg /createimage R:\' to save it on the new partition.
This step may consume a lot of time.
Now we need to register the newly created recovery image: 'recimg /setcurrent <directory>'
    'recimg /setcurrent R:\'
    Voila you are done.
    Restoring from recovery partition
You may want to use this restoring method by default, because it is the easiest way to do so if your recovery partition is still intact. If not, look at the other recovery methods to see which suits you best. This is usually the way you reset or refresh your Windows installation if you purchase a computer from a brand like Lenovo instead of building one yourself
Press the Windows-key + C to open the charms bar or swipe in from the right.
    Click Settings.
    Click Change PC Settings.
Click Update & Recovery in the menu on the left.
    Click Recovery.
If all your documents are safe and sound in your user folder, you can use Refresh your PC without affecting files. However I still recommend taking a back-up... If you want to do a complete reinstallation of Windows and also clean your user folder in the process then choose Remove everything and reinstall Windows.

  • Install Mavericks on a new HDD

Hello there, I replaced the HDD on my Macbook Pro 2011. I ran Mavericks on the old drive. After I've installed the new HDD I ran online recovery which gave me access to disk utility and other recovery options. I thought I'd get "reinstall mavericks', but instead I got " reinstall Lion". I thought I would install lion then upgrade later just to get the computer working. I tried that and it says " our machine could not be verified contact apple...". I purchased Lion 3 years ago and by some mistake it removed from my AppStore purchases. I don't know what to do now and how to directly download Mavericks onto the new totaly empty HDD!!!

    Ah,
    Try this.
The Lion dmg file is called 'Install Mac OS X Lion.app'.
Right-click (or Control+click) the installer, and choose Show Package Contents from the resulting contextual menu.
In the folder that appears, open Contents, then open Shared Support; you’ll see a disk-image file called InstallESD.dmg.
Launch Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities) and Drag the InstallESD.dmg disk image into Disk Utility’s left-hand sidebar.
To create a bootable hard drive or flash drive
In Disk Utility, select InstallESD.dmg in the sidebar, and then click the Open button in the toolbar. This mounts the disk image’s volume in the Finder. The mounted volume is called Mac OS X Install ESD.
Click Mac OS X Install ESD in Disk Utility’s sidebar, then click the Restore button in the main part of the window.
Drag the Mac OS X Install ESD icon into the Source field on the right (if it isn’t already there).
Connect to your Mac the hard drive or flash drive you want to use for your bootable Lion installer. This drive must be at least 5GB in size (an 8GB flash drive works well), and it must be formatted with a GUID Partition Table. (Use Disk Utility to Format the Drive)
In Disk Utility, find this destination drive in the sidebar and then drag it into the Destination field on the right; if the destination drive has multiple partitions, just drag the partition you want to use as your bootable installer volume. Warning: The next step will erase the destination drive or partition, so make sure it doesn’t contain any valuable data.
Click Restore and, if prompted, enter an admin-level username and password. The restore procedure will take anywhere from five to 15 minutes, depending on your Mac and the speed of your drive.
Note: In versions of the Lion installer prior to 10.7.4, you didn’t need to first mount the InstallESD.dmg image—you could simply drag the image itself into the Source field. However, with the 10.7.4 installer, you must use the mounted Mac OS X Install ESD volume or you will get an error at the end of the restore procedure and the newly created bootable drive may not function properly.

  • [NEW HDD for 3000 K100]

    Hello everyone,
May I replace the old HDD (already formated/partitions and lost everything on it) with new HDD by only using recovery CD to get the system (Vista OS) up and running?
Your answer will be much appreciated.

You should look into something called Acronis true image. I see in the Lenovo forums about people using them all the time with no problems what so ever. An example is someone used it to copy the old drive to a new drive (like your wanting to do) and booted up with no problems. They had everything. The only thing I did see is that you can not put it to a smaller drive (don't see why someone would want to do that anyways)

"Data1.cab file is missing or corrupt.". I have tried to download the same from Sun's download centre as offline installation.
    Please suggest a solution.

I have tried downloading it again and also used the installer which was successfully able to install on Windows XP.
Also, a few days back I was able to install jdk1.5.0.07 but then my system was attacked by some trojan and I had to format it. Since then I am unable to install it using the same exe.

    Message: Hi All,
There is no incremental SP4 service pack for Crystal Reports Server XI R2 and no plans to build one.
Your ONLY option is to back up your CMS and Data store, un-install and then install from the FTP link.
The downloadable file from the support site is broken and they are working on fixing it and it is/will be the full build also.

    Thank you for your understanding
    Don
Frankly, this is outrageous.  This issue has been open for close to 5 months.  Rather than simply updating the SP4 incremental update with the correct files, SAP's brilliant response is to tell us that the file is STILL broken, but ***** you, whenever we fix it it will be the full build only.  Well, thanks!  That makes it so much easier.  Rather than looking at Crystal Reports 2008, maybe it's time to suck it up and look elsewhere,
Here's hoping SAP decides to do the right thing.  I'm sure everyone on the original thread would be interested.

    Hi Falk,
Yes, I am downloading it from a Win2003 machine. The browser is IE7.
I can even see what's inside the m293.cab, and it is not the file mentioned on the error message...
This is the m293.cab content (one file):
       tslv.dll.7ADA0B91_68E0_4E90_AD3D_23C9E3079BAB
The file doesn't seem to be corrupted, it just doesnt have what was expected by the installer software.
I tried downloading it again and had the same result... These are the installation files that I've already tried with the same result:
        - crsxir2win_sp4.exe (from [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009887052008E/crsxir2win_sp4.exe])

  • No Sound after New HDD and recovery on CQ61

    Hi All,
I am at my wits end trying to repair my mother-in-laws Compaq Presario CQ61-401SA !! She had a major crash on her HDD which could not be recovered, so after buying a new one and the recovery disks from HP here is where I am.
I have installed the new HDD. I have recovered the sytem software and Windows 7 64-bit. I installed all windows updates, and installed her own software, mail etc, and restored her files I had backed up. I then, quite pleased with myself took the Notebook back to her, but when we installed Skype, we discovered no sound ! I have tried upgrading the drivers and notebook bios, but still nothing. I have tried the WIndows Troubleshooter and the HP troubleshooting but there is still no sound !
I have taken the machine back to factory state again, without any extra software or files, and still cannot get a sound from the machine ! If i power the machine and repeatedly press a key, the speaker beeps, so i know it is working ! HELP HELP HELP !
    Yours frustratingly Bobpg69 !

You can try running the Apple Hardware Test from your installation disk. I also know that optical drives can cause this problem so it may be worth disconnecting the Superdrive and see what happens.

  • Hp recovery new hdd

I have a HP Rossignol dv6 3260es that came with its' original HDD.
I recently bought a new SSD hard drive with 250GB and replaced the old HDD with this new one. I kept the old HDD and placed it in the CD/DVD slot. Now I have 2 hard drives and no CD/DVD slot.
In the old HDD I still have the recovery partition (D and I would like to know how (and if it's possible) to use the recovery partition to do a system recovery (Windows and HP tools, etc.) on the SSD. I mean, perform a recovery not on the hard drive that's in but on another hard drive installed in the laptop.
If this isn't possible, how can I move the recovery partition to the new hard drive? Keep in mind I don't have a CD/DVD slot.
    Thanks a lot!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

It is very unlikely that you will be able to perform the  HP Recovery from the HDD to install the OS and Recovery partition on the SSD. Even if it were possible to make the recover install to another drive, it is unlikely that the HP Recovery would install to a 250GB drive. You could clone the HP Recovery partition to the SSD and attempt to run the recovery that way, but again it is unlikely to work.
You could also create (using the original HDD) your personal HP Recovery Media (DVD or USB), if you haven't already done so, and try running the HP System Recovery that way... but again, I think it will fail because of the small SSD size.
If the original OS and HDD are in great condition, you could clone the whole HDD to the SSD. This would require a shrink the OS partition to fit the smaller SSD size. This is most likely your best method to use. Your SSD may have come with cloning software or you can search the net for some freebies.

  • Recovery CDs and new HDD

Hello all in Lenovo community. All I would like to know is if I can use recovery media made with RnR 4.2 to create hidden RnR partition in my new purely clean HDD? I mean, will it create a recovery partition, write new MBR, so the new HDD would be just like the old one, with working Think Vantage button? Thank you for support.

Yes, The cd's will create the recovery partition and then you will reboot and install windows from the recovery partition.

also the main reason i want to reinstall windows vista as how it originally came with was because i cant get my webcam to work. after a clean install of win7 ultimate, i cant seem to find a driver from the hp web site that actually works right. I go under device manager and i cant even see where the webcam driver should be at. i  want to get the webcam driver to work with the OS i have installed on it right now, which is Win7 Ultimate 32-bit.  i tried to install cyberlink webcam and hp mediasmart webcam and both dont work for nothing.

    Hello,
I'm not sure which HDD you used, but I suspect that may be the issue.  If you look at your Maintenance and Service Guide, it lists compatible part numbers and descriptions for your notebook.  The HDD section is on page 55.
You can order these parts from HP Partsurfer
