New HDD, video podcasts now in movies

I recently installed a new HDD and transferred my library from one drive to the other - all went well except for one video podcast. The podcast files are listed in "Movies" and not in the podcast. Several other podcasts had no problem and even some of the problematic podcast tranferred correctly.
I don't want to have to download the 50 video files again as it's a waste of my download quotas considering I already have the files on my system.
Is there no way I can make iTunes recognise these files? If I re-download a podcast, iTunes simply adds a new file to the podcast directory with a "1" at the end of the filename as it recognises there's a file containing the required name in the directory already. Very frustrating indeed!
Surely there's a way to have iTunes recognise these as my podcasts?

For a support forum, this site is pathetic. I can't believe forums linked from the official Apple site as of such poor quality. Surely Apple has some representatives who trawl the forums giving guidance.
Can anyone shed some light before I blow my download limits due to Apple's rubbish software?

Why do my video podcasts now save in a folder under the file name "download" and not the name of the podcast

I just downloaded Itunes 10. When I download video podcast they save in a individual folder with the podcasts name.tmp, then inside the folder is the video file just named DOWNLOAD. This didnt happen in the previous versions of itunes why is this happening in Itunes 10? How can I change so that the files save as the name of the podcast.

Some users seem to be having issues with the latest build (10.2.2) where files are not moved/renamed after downloading. It works fine for me in a test library so I'm not quite sure what the issue is. You may find things sor themselves out if you turn off Keep iTunes Media folder organised and then turn it back agaqin (assuming you use that feature). Hopefully the next update isn't too far away.
Alternatively you can try my script ConsolidateByMoving which should move selected files that are in the "wrong" place to their standard iTunes locations.

New TED video podcasts not compatible with 80GB classic?

Up until recently, I've been loading TED podcasts (video) on my 80GB Classic with no problems. For the last 3-4, however, I'm being told that these most recent ones can't sync because they are not compatible with my ipod. For some reason they can't be viewed. Is anyone having this same problem? Is there a fix?
I have the most current version of iTunes, and I tried the Advanced tools.

IPod Classic no longer syncs all video podcasts

My iPod Classic 30 GB used to play Onion News Network and TED videos, no problem. Now I get a message when I try to sync them that says 'Cannot be played on your iPod.' These are TED videos dating back to 2009, and similarly old Onion News Network video podcasts (2010), some of which were (previously) synched and played successfully. Apple admits some video podcasts cannot be played, but in my case they were PREVIOUSLY played.
Did they really change the firmware to make my iPod less useful?

Hm. Well, since your iPod is already blank, try hooking it up to another computer and replace it with that library. If it works fine there, then your iPod's fine, and the problem is the iTunes and iPod software on your computer. Try uninstalling (to go control panel - add/delete programs to make sure it's gone) and then installing the newest updates. Then connect your iPod, restore, and sync. Try that first?

When will we get new ipod video content?

I am trying to stay on the straight legal path in regards to my video content, the risk in taking downloaded possibly harmful material from a program like limewire doesn't appeal to a person with so much information on his hard drive. I was discussing the idea behind this huge delay on Apples behalf in allowing us access to non-permanent downloads of pixar full length movies. Some believe that it would hurt the sales of the fifth generation ipod if ppl start complaining about the less than stellar battery life of the device. I mean it would really bite to be at the point when the movie is climaxing and zap... it stalls and returns to menu because the battery is completely drained. Unfortunately I understand the issues with licensing but I dont believe that we are getting the entire story behind the delay we are facing here. Not one shred of information is leaked regarding the potential direction they plan to take with the itunes movie gallery. Not only have they buried the video podcasts but the movies offered have not been updated since day one. Share your thoughts and opinions on this topic please, I am quite interested in others views on this topic and the ideas some of you may have as to the direction apple may go with this new device. Also will there be a stronger battery for the 5th generation Ipod?

That's because Apple never release plans of what they intend to do until they actually do it. Apple frowns upon speculation of any future products and software releases here on these forums. Anything contributed here will be just that, and the post(s) will be removed by the Mods.

Some video podcasts won't sync after using iPod to move music to new comput

I used my iPod to move my music (and podcasts) to a new computer (from a PC laptop to a Mac Pro). Now when I try to resync it (on either computer) some video podcasts are not synched from iTunes to the iPod. In some cases, all podcasts from the same subscription fail to sync; in other cases, some podcasts synch and others from the same subscription don't. All of the podcasts that fail to synch are video podcasts.

yeah i'm having the exact same problem so thought i'd up this rather than start a new thread. for me, one particular video subscription won't sync at all, and another is fine apart from three videos. particularly annoying as it took an absolute age to actually download them, and now they won't sync.
anyone got any bright ideas?

I would suggest that you go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure that Advanced Tools are enabled.
Then, you can drag your new video clip on top of your old clip and a popup menu should appear. Choose REPLACE.

Running itunes 10.6.1.7. did reorg of lib to new struct. reorg left all video podcasts in old folder. I cannot view video podcasts itunes or download. help please.

Issue solved - It turns out that the QuickTime version on my PC was 6.5 and I needed to update to version 7.6 or higher to allow videos to play in iTunes. I updated to QuickTime version 7.7 and then added the old podcast folder to iTunes while in podcasts. This found all video podcast content and then the auto reorg moved all folders to the new podcast directory. For the videos I manually moved earlier, I had to move (not copy) them back to the old directory or folder then add that old folder and they were now in the right directory and viewable in iTunes.

Moving photos to a new HDD. Getting PSE10 to recognise the move

Hi all. My PSE10 is now working a treat after all the help I got from the forum so I thought I'd ask you knowledgeable chaps another question to save me buggering things up!!
My original HDD is full to capacity. I have purchased and installed a second internal HDD which I intend to transfer all my documents, photos, videos and music onto leaving only programs and the OS on the old HDD and creating a bit of space.
How can I transfer my whole library over? Should I do a restore? Will it ask me where to restore to so I can tell it to my new HDD? Can I then just delete all the photos of my old drive? Is the move option better? Just want to avoid a world of pain when I do the swap!

The benefit will be the transfer of the catalog to the new disk. You'll save the disk space taken by the catalog : simply locate the catalog as stated in my previous post and look at the disk space taken by the catalog folder. I do not see any significant disadvantage in moving the catalog.

I don't understand. If having service in your home IS important to you and you already know Verizon's policy, why have you not instead started to search for carriers which cover your home? It seems a pretty easy decision to me, at least.

Play more than 1 video/podcast/movie at a time

How can I use Front Row to play a whole folder of movies at a time?
I have a whole bunch of short films and video podcasts & wanna play one-after-another in Front Row. I cannot seem to get Front Row to do this for me. I wanna just sit back and watch them all, without selecting the next one every 2 to 5 minutes.

This can't be done with Front Row right now. Because the 3rd & 4th generation iPod nanos support "video playlists", there's been hope that some day Front Row will also support a video playlist. But, so far we haven't seen that option yet. You can create a video playlist in iTunes and it will play through directly from iTunes, however. You'll have to add your movies to iTunes to use this option...

Right now I am having to select the videos one at a time and play them after each one ends from in the Podcast window. (over 300 "Best of YouTube videos)

I can't see a way to do this automatically, but you can do a Command + ˃

Can't sync movies and video podcasts wont play

I just got a 6th gen nano today and the movies will not show up on the nano. Also when I play any video podcast the video keeps freezing but the sound keeps going. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, how do I fix it?

It also lacks Games and Photos.
I have an iPod Touch now, but i also enjoy my iPod Nano 4G. The difference between them is the weight and the way commands are given: analog but wasy to use (even with eyes closed or one hand and on the moove), versatile options and small versus touch commands, huge screen, but big, in need of great care while handling and of both hands to command.
This is not a decision to differenciate the iPod Nano 6G from iPod Touch, iPod Classic and iPhone, but it's actually not a Nano. It's iPod Shuffle with touch commands - nothing more, but a lot worse than any iPod Shuffle or previous iPod Nano.

Issues with Downloading/Viewing video podcasts from NBC News

I am currently experiencing a problem with downloading video podcasts from NBC News. On my iPad 3, white iPhone 4 from Verizon, 3rd generation Apple TV and my mid-2012 15-inch MacBook Pro, it takes forever to download any kind of video podcast from NBC News. For example, on my iPad 3, it has taken over 35 minutes to download 7 MB out of 131 MB of video. The same thing happens on my iPhone and MacBook Pro. This has been going on for about a week now. Audio Podcasts from NBC News are fine. Other video podcasts play instantly.
Trying to play an NBC News video directly in iTunes on the Mac, or in the iOS podcast app, or trying to play it on my Apple TV is no better - the video is extremely slow to load with lots of stops and goes.
The problem also extends to NBC's iOS apps. Videos continuously try to load and do not play in the NBC Nightly News app for iPad for example. And, videos take forever to load at nbcnews.com, nbcnightlynews.com on my Mac.
I feel like there is something wrong with NBC's content. Has anyone been experiencing this same problem? I have not rebooted my wireless router or modem, I do not think that would do any good. Rebooting my devices do not make a difference.
