New HP Officejet 6600 won't scan to MacBook Air

I bought new HP 6600, downloaded all the drivers set it up and it worked perfectly - for one week.  I've now uninstalled and reinstalled drivers.  My MacBook Air sees the printer and I watch it scan and see the text on my computer screen, but not saved in folder or in my Finder window?
Thanks to anyone who can help.  My first time ever on this site.

Hello @dbvancouver   and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help.
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a/H711g Drivers.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

HP officejet 6600 won't resume.  Msg says "paused" but cant get it to resume.  I've shut it down and replugged both the computer to which it is attached by wire, and stop/started the computer.  No luck.  Ideas?

It won't print in black and white and HP WILL NOT ANSWER any of these requests because it's their way of stealing you money without really telling you they are.  Imagine that???

  • HP Officejet 6600 won't copy

I have an Officejet 6600 still in warantee that has been working fine.   All of a sudden, it will not copy, either from the feeder or from the glass.   I get an error message to load paper.  Yet, I can scan the document and print it.   There is no problem printing from Word or other programs.   I have checked for paper jams; there are none.   I checked to see if I could load a new printer driver, but there is none available.    Suggestions? Thank you

Hi petrocelli, Thank you for your reply! I would recommend a hard reset, by going to this post, How to perform a Hard Reset, by . • HP Officejet 6500A won't scan.

My HP Officejet 6500A Plus E710n (purchased late 2011) won't scan. Prints just fine. I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) purchased late 2011.
I haven't scanned anything in over a year. When I tried to scan a document a few days ago, the problem began. After researching the Apple and HP boards, I uninstalled the original HP software and installed HP's updated software/updates/drivers. I also installed Apple's HP updates, still won't scan. Keep getting the error message "Scanner reported an error. Failed to open a session on the device."
I also deleted/re-added the printer and rebooted the MacBook umpteen times.
I see that when I re-add the printer, it comes up as Bonjour Multifunction (see photo), yet there's no mention of Bonjour in my Activity Monitor.
I'm stumped! Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Since that didn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer and the HP software.  I'll link the download below, so you don't have to search for it again.  Let me know what happens.

  • HP Officejet 6600 won't print in black and white

So I have a HP Officejet 6600 which recently ran out of it's magenta cartridge. I knew I wouldn't be able to print in color, but when I went to the printer and set preferences to print black only it still tells me I need to replace the magenta cartridge before I can resume printing. This is extremely annoying because I start school monday and have syllabi and things I need to print out. Please don't tell me to order or go out and buy a magenta cartridge. I just need to know how to get this specific printer to work using only black ink when the color cartidges are depleted.

There are a few reasons color ink is used, even when printing black only:   Some ink is used to keep the nozzles from drying out.  When printing (even black only) the color printhead, attached to the same structure as the black printhead, is waving around in the air and the nozzles would clog if there were no servicing. When automatic duplex printing the front page typically has a thin underprint of color ink under the black to "set" the black ink.  It is not intuitive, but this causes the black ink to dry faster, reducing the chances of smearing the ink as the page is pulled back into the printer to print the back side.Graphics are typically printed with a mixture of color ink rather than black.  The color droplets are much smaller than the black droplets.  The composite black (made from colors) gives visibly better grayscale graphics results.  (For some drivers there is an option for printing in grayscale as "black ink only" or "High quality grayscale".) Printing in "Best" quality typically underprints balck with color to give a darker black. The pigmented black ink is not compatible with photo apper.  If photo paper is detected or selected in the driver the printer will mix color ink to make black.Depending on the driver the option for "black ink only" may not be available when color ink will be needed, for example in the duplex printing case. See the document here for information on how ink is used in the printing process.  In the language of that document the Officejet 6600 is an IIC printer. If you want a printer that can print with no color ink at all I would suggest something like a monochrome Laserjet, or an IPH printer such as the Deskjet 6980 or Officejet 8040a that would allow printing with the color cartridge removed compeltely.

  • Cannot scan to MacBook Air

I have a HP B110 e-all-in-one printer about 2.1/2 year old. It works as a printer wirelessly with my MacBook Air laptop fine. However, I cannot get it to scan to my MacBook Air. The machine provides an overview of a document, but will not scan it to a folder on my MacBook. This has been a recurring problem! I do hope that I do not have to buy a new printer/scanner as otherwise my current printer works fine.
