New - HP - Snow Leopard print drivers for missing printers available now

Good news - the Snow Leopard print drivers for the following devices are now available from Apple Software Updates. The drivers were not available this last week after Snow Leopard intro, thanks for everyones patience.
It is strongly recommended to first update to Mac OS X 10.6.1 before installing these new drivers. Make sure that the printer is turned on and connected via USB cable before launching Apple Software Update.

  • Snow Leopard : print drivers for Canon PM620

I have just installed Mac OSX Snow Leopard and cannot now use my Canon MP620 printer. I have tried reinstalling it but it continues to tell me that I need to install the print driver software or contact Canon. I have tried to contact Canon and download any print driver for the MP620 that is compatible with Snow Leopard. Their is not a new print driver available from Canon or Apple !!!!! Apple state in their literature that Snow leopard will make sure that the most up to date software is available. Unfortunately the most up to date software is not compatible with Snow Leopard. Considering this particular printer is available on the apple store with a 3.5 star rating I wonder what apple intend to do about this problem? Which printers do work ? I need a printer urgently. Any suggestions out their .cm

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your printer.
Just so you are aware. It is not Apple's responsibility to update 3rd party software such as printer drivers. This holds true for the hardware sold at the online Apple store. That is up to Canon to update their drivers to be compatible with 10.6.
Also, if you have any 3rd party software, not just drivers for printers that you have on your Mac, Apple is not responsible for updating their software either.

Check Epson for printers. They have already updated most of their models to be 10.6 compatible.

They are referring to the Mac OS X system software. Not 3rd party software. "Snow Leopard" ...

  • 10.6 snow leopard printer driver for Z23

Help!! I looked and looked everywhere for a printer driver for Z23 on OS 10.6. I tried to load the optional installation from CD but, after installing, it did not list Z23 and it screwed up my other printer drivers. I got Z23 printer from Apple Store when I purchased Mini Mac with OS 10.2. But, the mini mac died and I had to purchase iMac with 10.5 and then upgraded to 10.6. So, I really need a Lexmark Z23 printer driver for Mac OS 10.6 so bad. Please expedite. I really appreciate it.

The last driver for the Z23 for Mac is for OS X 10.3. <http://support.lexmark.com/index?locale=en&productCode=Z23COLOR_JETPRINTER&userlocale=EN_US&segment=DOWNLOAD&os=MAC_OS_X_10_3_X&page=downl oadsList&oslocale=enUS#1> That's it, there ain't no more. It's no longer supported and hasn't been for a very long time. I had a Z23 many years ago and was less than impressed with its performance then. (The very first item on the FAQ: "Why is my Z23 so slow?" and no, they weren't joking.) And that thing shipped with just a colour cart, you needed to buy the black cart separately... and it wasn't easy to find the black carts. You're gonna need a new printer. Sorry, but them's the facts.

  • I have a Mac i5 and need to download the application 'Numbers' but everytime I try to do so, it says can't do as the ver 2.2 for the app needs new software 'Snow Leopard'. I don't want to upgrade but dont know what to do??

If your profile is correct you're already on the final version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Sure it wasn't Lion it was asking for?
If that's the only version available on the app store, you'll need to source a copy of the iWork '09 DVD - not cheap now - only available via Amazon or eBay etc.

  • I had OS 10.5.8 on my Macbook and couldn't run turbotax 2012 because of that. I purchased Snow leopard on CD and installed it. Now, about my ABOUT this mac says 10.6.8. Now, I can't print to my Lexmark z705. I get an error message.

Unless there are drivers provided by Apple to work with the printer, you're out of luck. The latest drivers provided by Lexmark are for OS X 10.4 Intel. Unfortunately, this can happen when slightly older peripherals and newer software don't mesh.

  • The MESS of Snow Leopard Printing

To say that Apple is Frustrating me with Printing in Snow Leopard is an understatement!
Snow Leopard 10.6 worked, Snow Leopard 10.6.1 Worked. Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and the 3 subsequent HP Printer Drivers has so seriously screwed up my system and I don't have a clue what to do to get it working again? Well perhaps I should do the same thing I had to do for the years that I was using Microsoft Operating Systems. Format the hard disk and reinstall everything fresh!
I have a HP LaserJet P2055dn that worked flawlessly before all these changes. Now Snow Leopard hardly recognizes the printer and all the money that I spent on the printer including the built in DUPLEXER and the additional 256MB memory are GONE!
Hewlett Packard doesn't even provide any print drivers for Snow Leopard. They say that Apple has everything I need to print!!!!!!!!!!
Then I connected via VPN to work once, have NEVER EVER added a printer from Work on the Mac Pro at home.
How the HECK did 11 Bonjour printers get added, and more importantly, what steps do I need to take to remove the NON-EXISTANT bonjour printers and ENSURE that they NEVER show up again?
What steps do I need to take to get my HP LaserJet P2055dn to show properly, show the right amount of memory, show that it has a duplexer and to show the right model number?

Yes, they do. Check http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669. There are updated drivers for this printer available through Software Update or by downloading from Apple or HP.

Are they added in Print & Fax Prefs? If so, you can delete them there.

If you don't have the most recent driver, updating to that would be a good start. I am not sure what to suggest about memory configuration and duplexing since these options don't show up in the installable options panel when choosing the driver, but asking HP might help.

  • Apple 's new drivers for Canon printers

Apple has just released new drivers for Canon printers. I have an i9900 inkjet printer which is not listed in the supported printers. Will the driver work for me or am I out of luck?
    Thanks.

The driver update is supplied to Apple from Canon, who has made the decision to end support for the i9900. They actually ended support several versions previously.
So to print from Mavericks to the i9900 you can download and install Gutenprint v5.2.9 which lists the i9900 as a supported device.

  • What's New in Snow Leopard (10.6)..?

There are also quite a few minor refinements besides the major ones mentioned in the Apple link Alan posted.
For instance, Disk Utility now does permissions repairs much more quickly than with Leopard & warns you in a popup box that the verify disk step may cause the OS to become slow to respond during that procedure.
The OS now supports automatic text substitution you set up in the newly renamed Language & Text system preference. This is a major time saver for me: I have set up simple three character substitutes for common phrases like "Disk Utility" & "Snow Leopard" that I use often in discussions posts, as well as ones to correct a few common typos so for example the OS automatically replaces "teh" that with "the."
Long overdue, the menu bar clock now supports displaying the date without hacks or add ons. The Airport menu item shows more info when you click or option-click it. Preview, Spotlight, & a few other apps have minor improvements.
It seems like every few days I discover or read about some new little refinement or tweak.

  • Is it possible to use the snow leopard install disk for bootcamp setup?

I'm going to be installing a windows 7 partition through bootcamp on my macbook, but I can no longer find the two original install disks that it came with. So my question was whether or not its possible to go through the bootcamp process with the snow leopard install disk?

Do you mean a "Retail OSX Snow Leopard Install DVD for USD 29" ?
If so, then yes. use it.
Sounds to me like the Original Install Discs you refer to are OSX 10.5 Leopard ones, right ?
These won't work with Windows 7 since Windows 7 requires OSX Snow Leopard DVD at minimum for the Driver Installation and BootCamp Assistant version 3.x as well, which is also only avaiable in OSX Snow Leopard.

  • Control-Shift-W activates Snow Leopard-Like exposé for all windows. Can this be disabled/changed?

Running Mac OS X 10.7.2 on my MacBook Air, Control-Shift-W produces a Snow Leopard-like expose for all windows.
While useful, this keyboard shortcut is wreaking havoc with my BBEdit settings. (Control-Shift-W is used to toggle "Selected text only" in the "Find" window.)
Does anyone know a way to alter or disable this system shortcut? I haven't been able to find any information regarding this shortcut and I fear I may have altered an underlying property (using "defaults write…" at the command line) and I don't know how to revert what I (may) have done.
    Thanks in advance.

I suspect that it's busy trying to mount a network file system of some type.
Are there any errors in your logs that seem appropriate (viewable via Applications->Utilities->Console?)

  • Can I upgrade from osx tiger v10.4.11 to osx Snow Leopard v10.6 for 29$ ??

I was wondering if I could upgrade from osx tiger v10.4.11 to osx Snow Leopard v10.6 for 29$ or at a lower cost than full price. I do not need to upgrade that much because 10.4.11 is so great and I hate to leave it. Paying the full price of an operating system does not make sense to me. Can I do it cheaply because I am upgrading?

    No.
The $29 upgrade is from leopard to Snow Leopard.
