New ical events missing

After i upgraded to X10.5, i can't save any new events in iCal. I enter all the required info, then quit iCal. When i open it again, the new events are missing. I have deleted all plists and still no change. Thanks!

asuming that the calendar you have entered the event in is selected, that you have the right time zone on your computer and on ical, try the following: create an event, write down the name, exit and re-launch ical, then assuming the event is still not showing up, then do a search on the event's name, any luck in finding it?

  • Cannot add new iCal events on my iPhone 3G.

My iPhone 3G has stopped saving new iCal events. I can still set up new events in iCal on my laptop, and they'll sync over to my iPhone, but new events won't save when entered into iCal on my iPhone. Any idea what's wrong and how to fix this?
BTW, I just got rid of a MobileMe account. I never ended up using MobileMe, so it doesn't seem like that should be the issue here, but I noticed that some other folks have had iCal sync issues with MobileMe, so I thought I'd add that info.

    In other words, it's hacked.
Sorry, you can't get help here.
Say for an instance, that it wasn't hacked. Would you suggest to just wipe and restore it?

  • Create new iCal event from contents of mail uses wrong date

I received an email today with an appointment using the date "6/3/2010 at 4PM". Being from the US, it is obvious to me that this meeting should occur on June 3, 2010, but when I attempt to create a new iCal event with this date it creates the event on March 6, 2010. Even more confusing is that when I choose "Show this date in iCal" it highlights March 7, 2010!
    My question is:
Shouldn't the system default to a month/day/year date preference everywhere when I've selected US English in the internationalization preferences pane?

have a very similar question: is there somewhere an application where I can, when receiving an email, put it into iCal so that I am reminded about it in a week or something?

  • In mail "create new ical event" has stopped appearing in ical

Please help! I love clicking on data in email to bring up the "Create New iCal Event" box, and using it to put new events into my ical calendar. But recently when I "Create New iCal Event" from an email, and click "add to iCal" the window closes but the event doesn't show up in iCal. I can still add events by clicking on a calendar date in iCal and typing them in, but the link between Mail and iCal seems to be broken. How can I fix it?
Could this be related to how Firefox recently broke? Foxfire will not save bookmarks any more, either, I click on "Bookmarks," then "Bookmark this page". The window closes but the bookmark does not save. Also, the forward/backward browser arrows no longer work on Foxfire.

Could you be more specific? What happens (or fails to happen?)

  • How can I make new iCal events default to 1 hour long?

Please help me love my iCal again.  How can I set it up so that the default for a new event is an hour long instead of EIGHT?!?  Why on earth does iCal think a new event should be eight hours long?  It's especially annoying at night.  Add a new event at 9PM and iCal sets an end for 5AM and rolls it into the next day, which means I have to change the end time and change the end date every time I add a new event.
Seriously, who designed this thing?  Here's a perfect example of bad design (which, coming from Apple is shocking!): In the menu, click New Event.  Does iCal create a new event?  No.  It draws a box arrow pointing to the big plus sign.  Are we sure Microsoft didn't design this thing?
I'm a diehard Mac Guy for over 17 years.  But I must say, I'm disappointed with some aspects of Lion.  Yikes.  (sorry...  I needed to vent!)

I probably should have noted that I'm using iCal in the month view.  Maybe that's why my iCal thinks every new event is eight hours long?  The previous iCal didn't behave this way.
And, yes, a menu item titled New Event that opens a box where I can create a new event rather than actually creating a New Event is bad design.  It adds extra steps.  It feels like a Microsoft thing where you click on something and then get asked if that's really what you wanted to do.  When I click New Event, I want a new event to open so I can input the details including calenrar, alarm, repeating data, notes, etc.  Sure, if I wanted a quick option, I'd go for the + sign to add one.  But when it comes to having to change calendars or add extra info, making me go through extra steps is poor design.
There's a lot to like in the new iCal, but pushing the app away from design simplicity for VISUAL simplicity is poor design for a desktop OS app.  On a three inch screen like the iPhone, it makes perfect sense.  It's brilliant, in fact.  But on a desktop OS?  I completely understand the idea of merging iOS with OS X, but a motorcycle is not a tractor trailer even though they both have engines.  To treat them as such is poor design.
Another example: in iCal, it's easy to hide calendars you may not need to see.  That's a great feature.  In the previous iCal, there was a pane that showed which calendars were visible and which were not.  Now, if you're looking at a month, you have no way of seeing that there may also be more events that are hidden without clicking the calendars for a popup to display which are visible and which are not.  I'm no Mac basher.  I have a series of the black & white "Think Different" prints framed and hanging on my walls.  I love Apple, but the new iCal is poor design.

  • New iCal event

What is the quickest way to create an ical event? I find it is a 2 stage process. First clicking to add and event, then clicking again to edit to set the stand and end times etc. Surely adding a new event should be a single stage process.

This seems to be a design choice, eliminating the sidebar that had all the editing info available on the right in the previous version. I guess this unclutters the screen a bit, but the downside is that you need to call up that editing window... That's all I can think of... Seems like many things that should be user preferences are not user definable (like my pet peeve, wanting the color that highlights the current day in month view - it's too pale - I have to tip my laptop screen back to be able to even see it. Wish I could set that color...)

  • Create new iCal event as easily as Outlook?

Is there a way to create an event in iCal like Outlook? I may be missing something.
Outlook - click once on the day and type
iCal - click twice on the day, then click once on the event name, then type (I know there is a keyboard equivalent, but that is slower, also. Where does the focus go upon creating a new event?
Almost everything I do on a Mac is cleaner and more friendly, but iCal is frustrating. Also, to get Info, you can't just double-click on something. You have to navigate to Show Info on the contextual menu or go to the keyboard. In Outlook, you just double-click and it opens with focus on the most obvious place.
Are there some shortcuts I am missing? I have read the shortcuts menu item and it gives no hints.

    Welcome to the discussions, whardy7.
Double-click where you want it (in Week view you should be able to get it right to 15 minutes) then type the Event name (focus will be in the field) then tab & type through the various fields. Have the Info panel open all the time, then simply click an event to see details.

  • Adding a new iCal event directly from an email

Mail.app in MacOS X allows you to click on a date/time in any email in order to add the event directly to your calendar, in iCal.
Is there a similar option in mail in iPhone 3.0? This would be so convenient -
I cannot find anything like that but was wondering whether or not I was missing some kind of shortcut or option?
    thanks

Is there a way to view a calendar item on the iPhone that is forwarded as an iCal attachement? For example, I am at work on my PC working in Outlook. I forward a new calendar item as an iCal entry. I receive it on my MacBook and can open it. However, if I receive it on my iPhone, I see it as an attachment, but cannot view it or add it to my calendar. I do not want to wait till the end of the day to sync with my MacBook. Any suggestions. (by the way, I do have Mobile Me, but my network will not let me downloand anything, so I cannot configure my PC at work to sync with Mobile Me)

  • ICloud not receiving new iCal events generated on MBP

iCal on my Mac is no longer synching events I am creating in my iCloud calendars on my MBP. I get the following error: "The server responded with an error. The connection with server p07-caldav.icloud.com has been closed. Try again later." And the events that have not been synched get the tilde squiggle icon next to them. I have tried disabling the iCloud calender, then enabling it again as another post suggested. This allowed me to add 1 new event, which synched fine and showed on my ipad, but then it went back to the error. iCloud synch with iCal was working fine for several weeks after upgrading to Lion recently. First time this is happening. My internet connection is fine. I am running 10.7.4 and am synching iPhone 4S and iPad 3 with MBP. I appreciate any input any of you may have. Thanks!

A lot of people are having the same problems and I too have the same problem and noone seems to be able to provide a solution.  This icloud thing is a little patchy.  Very disapointing !!!!!
Let me know if you find a solution.....

  • Inviting attendees to a new Ical event via iPhone

Does anyone know how to invite attendees when one enters the original appointment directly from the iPhone?

    Hi there,
only two ways I can think off, you either have to tick the "Show action" when run button...which will allow you to change the date. But this requires you to do it, so not very automatic !
Daft question, but have you built the workflow and does it always have the same date, when saved as an Application and run on different days ?
Or use a GUI AppleScript, I can't see anything in the iCal dictionary that lets you create a new event...
So depending on your needs, you could add in a "Run AppleScript"
    tell application "iCal"
    activate
    tell application "System Events"
    tell process "iCal"
    keystroke "t" using command down
    delay 1
    keystroke "n" using command down
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
It would open iCal, then go to today and create a new event.
It all depends on your full workflow really. It can be tweaked to suit.
    regards
    Ric

  • Finding New ICal Events

My ICal is showing a red 4, which I assume means I have 4 new events in my home calendar; this must have originated when I imported my events from my Treo. How in the world do you find them so I can get rid of that "4"?!!?

asuming that the calendar you have entered the event in is selected, that you have the right time zone on your computer and on ical, try the following: create an event, write down the name, exit and re-launch ical, then assuming the event is still not showing up, then do a search on the event's name, any luck in finding it?

  • ICal events missing and wrong

I use iCal on my Mac and Calendar on my iPhone all synced with MobileMe CalDav. I have a lot of recurring events. Everything looks fine until October 2011. Almost the entire month is blank in iCal on the Mac. I know there should be events during the whole month (something almost every day). When I look at the web version on MobileMe, the events are there, but starting on or about October 15, they are all shifted to the next day. So, my normal 8-5 M-F job looks like a Tuesday through Saturday job. The iPhone matches the web view on MobileMe. The same thing is happening to my wife's calendar, which is set up the same way. The strange thing is that by November, it is all back to normal. I have the time zone set to Brasilia time on MobileMe and in iCal and the only thing that I can think of is a bizarre Daylight Savings Time bug (DST starts this year in Brazil on Oct. 16). Strange that it would affect the whole month on iCal, only part of the month on MobileMe. I am unable to add an event on October 16 from any device, which is too bad as that is my wife's due date and I would like to note it. The event moves to the 15th. If I switch to Day view in iCal and start in early October, the events appear, but it won't let me move past October 15. iCal will crash.
    Any ideas?

I mean look at how crazy this is (from the MobileMe calendar web view). The 15th appears twice and every date after it is on the wrong day of the week. If I view November, it goes back to normal.

  • ICal events missing from iMac

I have a iMac, a MacbookPro, iPad3, and iPhone 5, all 4 have iCal on them subscribed to the same MS Exchange feed. The MacbookPro, iPad3, and iPhone 5all sync fine. But on the iMac, it drops some events - typically group meetings where there are several attendees and an invitation has initiated the meeting. But it is not consistent b/c some group meetings show up fine. It doesn't seem to matter if it is an event I initiated or if the invite came from someone else and I accepted. Both are equally likely to show up or not show up.
The only difference I can see is the iMac is running iCal 6.0 (1648) and my MacBookPro is running iCal 5.0.3 (1605.4). Did something get broken in 6.0?

  • Cannot create new iCal events or to-dos

OK, get this. When I double-click to edit NOTHING, I REPEAT NOTHING happens on screen BUT, if I click my button to see all open apps, voila! iCal appears with an edit window, but disapeers when I select iCal. This is nuts.
I have this problem too. I think it has something to do with Spaces. The edit window IS there but is off the screen window. Moving iCal off-center may bring the edit window into view. I'm still searching for the solution too. Perhaps putting iCal in all Spaces windows may work.
