New IdeaTab a2107

I am wondering how you can tell if the micro sd card is used as the primary storage. When I go to Settings it shows USB, SD Card, etc. but doesn't really let me know where my apps are being saved to.
Also, this is NOT a dual Sim machine. When I inserted my 32g sd card there are not SIM slots available.
Just need pointed in the right direction for support or info on how to 'use' this tablet. So different from my itouch!

I blieve you tThe device is partitioned to internal storage USB storage. You also have the ability to store to a SD card. Not to hijack the thread but....on a related issue. I'm having an issue with the icon for apps that get moved from the tablet storage to USB storage no longer appearing. They still show up under the App tray, but not on the screen. However, any apps still saved to the tablet continue to show up.

IdeaTab A2107 Screen gives me headaches

So you would think I learned my lesson with the K1 tablet but I guess I am a masochist or something.
Saw the IdeaTab A2107 refurb on sale for around $80 from Lenovo site. Figured since the mother in law liked my Nexus 7 because of the size and ease of use to read magazines/books I can get her this and score some brownie points.
Got the tablet on Tuesday. After about 20 minutes of using it I started getting a headache! Now I have gone on for over 5 hours reading on my Nexus and never had any issue with it.
So I started to see maybe it was the brightness settings or something on the IdeaTab A2107 (do tablets even have a refresh rate?).
Then I noticed something. While the screen is in portrait mode if you tilt it to the right it has this weird effect. The screen becomes darker and you lose detail (almost like looking through the "dark" side of a set of 3D glasses). Now if you tilt it to the left you don't have this happening and everything looks fine.
So the issue is where if you look at the screen straight on in portrait mode, the right eye sees the screen fine with full detail and color. However the left eye sees less detail and the colors are darker. (My wife was wondering what I as doing closing the left then right then left eye over and over while trying to figure this out!)
If you have the screen in landscape mode the effect does not occur (unless you tilt the screen up/down, but our eyes aren't set in that configuration anyways so it did not bother me).
I was curious if anyone else has had this issue? I already put in the request to return the tablet since I have only had it for 2 days now (and I have learned my lesson with the previously mentioned K1 tablet).

Agree, the new notes is useless. If I wanted a blank background, with a washed out looking font I would use my email, except the font in my email is dark enough to read easily in the grocery.
Interesting to note how awkward the top menu is in iOS7 on a message board, it constantly drops down when selecting text.

IdeaTab A2107 Movie Playback

I downloaded a movie from the Google PlayStore on my A2107. The playback is choppy and the audio and video are not in sync. Anyone have an issue like this?

Yes, I also had those problems, but with playback of an avi file (without drm) and the standard player. Downloaded vlc player from Google Market and there playback is fine...

IdeaTab A2107 Movie sound sync problems

Hi Guys, I have just bought the Ideatab 2107a, and first impressions its a well built device. However I have downloaded 2 differen tmovies from google play to see how the run as I will want to watch them on a forthcoming flight, but when I tried it the sound is about 15 -20 seconds out of sync making film unwatchable. Any suggestions welcomed.
I am using the standard google Play Movies v 2.4.14. I have downloaded same films on to my 10" Motorola Xoom and there are no problems..........Help !.......and thanks in advance

I contacted Lenovo and agree they are as much use as a chocolate teapot ( I doubt they would even understand that!)
I have now installed MX Player 1.7.17 and found that this works well with streamed video.
I have other 10" devices for business use, and this 2107 was just going to be used as a convenient device for watching movies on flights and quick check of emails etc, and to be honest the build quality size and price ticked the boxes especially with 3G
I Find it really sad however that the complete lack of customer care and support from an IBM company.
I also have totally redundant icons for Lenovo APP shop which cannot be installed....future support ?......not likely !!

Problem with temprature sensor ideatab A2107

im having problem with my temprature sensor, there is no change in my temp nor it is showing the correct temp......
what im i supposed to do to fix it...........

Just take it to a nokia care point and they will check it out for you under warranty.
Any attempt to repair on investigate yourself will void the warranty and most likely cause more damage.

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
To access the SD card slot, you need to unsnap the speaker cover using a plastic prying tool or a plastic probe (see image below).

Ideapad A2107 problem with spell checker

I got yesterday a brand new Ideapad A2107 and the first thing I went through was a Lenovo firmware update. After the update, everything in the tablet was in Chinese (I'm in the USA). I managed to change the language back to English but something is wrong because the spell checker within Android is still apparently working in Chinese (for example, as I type this, most of the words are underlined with a red line but a few words like "the", or "this" are not underlined). I have many times gone through System Settings-> Language (set to English) and System Setting-> Spelling Correction (checked)->Android Correction (only choice) and the problem persists. My OS is Android 4.0.3.
This is a quite annoying problem so any solution would be very appreciated.

There has to be a fix for this somewhere???

Upgrading to Windows 8 Pro on Lenovo IdeaTab K3011W

I apologize in advanced if this has already been posted, but I did not find any stickys. I have Windows 8 Pro as an iso file on a USB Stick. I would like to change the boot order on the IdeaTab so it boots from the USB and runs the Windows 8 Pro installation. How do I access the BIOS so I can change the boot order?

I own an new ideatab k3011w since some days now and i found a solution for the problem.
It seems to be possible to install at least an alternative windows version (i.e. win8pro)!
All you need, is to format and prepare the boot device correctly for UEFI. Legacy boot devices are not upported. There are many descriptions on the internet how to do that...
The device has no legacy BIOS, so you must prepare a valid installation medium and do some preparation on the device too:
- prepare a 32bit boot medium
- switch off secure boot on the device
- drag the boot device in the boot order list on top
- do a full charge on the device
- connect a dock with keyboard (or any other keyboard)
- plug in the boot device (into the dock or keyboard)
I used a new USB stick and prepared it with the Windows 8 (32bit) installation medium contents (simply by copying).
After preparing all the other steps above, the tablet booted the windows 8 professional setup from USB stick successfully! Althought, i do not own an original keyboard dock yet, but i was able to use an old Apple keyboard with additional usb connectors for the boot usb stick.
The touchscreen woun't work at setup, so you must connect a keyboard anyhow to use the setup ui.
The stick is really easiely created. You also may use tools for that (i.e. open source Rufus boot medium creator).
All I can say, is that the setup screen appears and you can navigate and switch the installation options with the connected keyboard. So it definately works!
Note: I did not install yet, but probably I will do later.
I have seen, that there is nowhere any information how to boot from external medium on that device at all, so i hope very much this helps!

How does the metadata.keychain differ from the login.keychain?

I am updating my keychain access as I transfer from one hard drive to another. In looking to transfer the keychain permissions, I ran into a metadata.keychain as well as a login.keychain. I can't find any useful description of the purpose of the metadata.keychain. Hence I don't know if needs to be copied. Why is info on the metadata.keychain so elusive?
Also, I noticed I cannot post this question in a general forum for multiple versions of the OS (and I know the metadata.keychain exists in multiple versions). If there is better forum, feel free to move it. I chose this one since I am using Lion.

Bricked A2109 Tablet

Hi -
I am a new IdeaTab A2109A owner. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about how to revive my seemingly bricked tablet.
The unit had been used for approximately 20 hours (total, over the course of several days) when it started to exhibit intermittent wi-fi connectivity problems. Several hours later, during use, it turned off. It has been inoperable ever since. Pushing and/or holding the power button doesn't turn the device on. The device has been charged with the wall charger; there is no way to update it through the computer, as it's not recognized by my PC.
I don't see very many other complaints about this issue. Is there something I'm missing? Some strategy other than contacting service/repair?

I have noticed you have to hold power for a long time on these tablets. hold your power button down for roughly two minutes if no response, then its time for repair shop.

GPS problem, my device doesn't show my location

Hi.
I have an ideatab a2107 tablet. Its android version is 4.0.3 and it says that it is up to date and doesn't need one!!!!
I have a problem with GPS on my tablet.
It doesn't find a location both in Google maps and in any other app like beetalk or viber, just search icon start blinking and can blinking for hours.
Reset didn't help.
Clean sky, and sunny weather didn't help neither.
please help me.

Help! My new A2107 tablet - shuts down and restarts...

Hi,
just got a A2107 from the Lenovo outlet. Just getting use to it, found and downloaded the latest updates for it.
The problem is while using it - it just powers off and restarts - on it's own. It was doing this before the updates were applied - now it's more useable, but the problem is still there - it shuts down and restarts!
I can leave it on a table not running any apps, after about a half hour I'll hear it start up after it shut itself down.
Is there something I can do to fix this or do I need to send it back??

what g5 have you got. is it the new duel core models, if so the check the connections on the back of your hdd and the logic board. as these work loose very easily. what it sounds like as if the connection is just touching on the drive or logic board. i have the same problem with a s-ata drive, and the cable just slides off all the time. what seems to be happening is that when it disconnects the comp shuts down, and at the last second with the fans slowing the machine get a slight vibration just enough to connect again. and the comp must interpit the connection as a start-up. not sure about the start-up But possible. or it could be a kp, anyways check your connections.

New Kernel for Ideatab A2109A

I can't believe that there are no devs for my lovely a2109a and i will never get any updates...
That's a pain that hurts me so i started to learn how to build my own rom.
And as a first result here is my first kernel :a2109a-kernel5.zip - 4.62 MB
It's based on stock jb-kernel with some upgrades.
It would be nice if someone could test it.
I have tested the kernel with this cm10-rom:CM10
For me everything works and i can go on to build cm10.2 for our a2109a
