New iMac 07 horrible video issues in Magic Garageband

I have a 2.0GHz iMac (Mid 2007) with the ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128MB graphics, when I click on magic garageband the video has interlaced lines and the colors are horribly distorted. When I click on "audition" then "change genre" it quickly adjusted back to normal than quickly went to its interlaced look. I am going to try to reinstall GB from my DVD. I am also having unrelated video issues in Doom 3 even after the universal updater patch, the video resolution is terrible and I am getting artifacts all over the screen as I play.

Unfortunately, the pictures are no longer available. But I think our brand new iMac 07 has the same issues. It started with corrupted graphics when opening or closing the curtain in Garage Band. But it's getting worse, just have a look at my screenshots:

Weird, that's not the one I was initially downloading but I think that is the one that installed, so I think that solves that. But now the problem is that the one I was updating is no longer being shown. It's over 1gb that had all the loops and instruments.
Now when I try to use say strings lunar strings. It tells me to download at app store. It doesn't show. I go back to garageband try again and says the instrument or loop is currently being installed. But it's not.

Receiving New iMac Free - Video Card Question

Much to my relief, Apple is replacing my 2008 24" iMac after I have brought it in to them 3 times for the same issue in a month (failure to startup, they have replaced two video cards, one MLB, and the display but the problem repeats itself within 1-2 weeks). They are replacing it with a newer model that has a 27" display, twice the ram (4 GB) and twice the HD space (1 TB). My question is about the video card in the new iMac, it is a ATI Radeon HD 4670 with 256 MB, and the card in my old iMac was a NVIDIA 8800 GS with 512 MB. My primary application for my iMac is gaming, which I believe makes the video card the most important component. Does anyone know the difference between 256 and 512 or anything about this new card? Should I ask them if I can pay to upgrade to the Radeon HD 4850 512 MB before I go in to pick up my new iMac?

I had the exact same problem... my 18month old 24" iMac (with 512MB Video card) went belly up.
I pointed out that what they wanted to offer me had only the 256Mb Card ? ....and he said; "oops I didn't notice that"... so we will send your new 27" iMac - with a 512MB (ATI 4850) at no charge,
So... buddy you just need to tell them - and they will configure your replacement 27" to equal or better the minimum specification of your faulty unit.

IMac G5 video issues.

I have a iMac G5 20" 2.16 s/n W86494YZVUV that has a serious video issue. What appears to be a set of small lines appears on each side of each icon and the cursor. Additionally, large random angular spikes appear all over making the display virtually unreadable. Is there an economic solution to this issue or is it a throwaway?

Once my iMac G5 experienced this blue tint problem.
The solution was to:
Open System Preference > Display.
Click on the highest resolution.
Close Display pane.
Close System Preference.

New iMac 24" LCD issue

Hi all, hope somebody here can give me an accurate answer or how serious my problem is.. Basically the whole iMac runs beautifully however just a problem with the LCD screen - on the left side about a 1/4 my browser window with a white background is bright white - but when i drag the window towards the centre to the right side it is all dirty white (dull light brown) - is this a serious problem with the LCD screen? I've only had it under two days now..
I'm not sure if this is a normal behaviour for an LCD

CJ, you have a sharp eye. It took me two days before I noticed it, but there is a slight variation from the extreme, white left side and the rest of the screen. There was some mention about these screens being bad for calibration (that conclusion is incorrect, I use a Monaco X-Rite DTP94 and ColorEyes to get good color fidelity) ... but I am disturbed by this brightness variation.
I considered returning my iMac, so I dropped by the Apple store today and checked out all of the 24" iMacs. I believe this occurs on all of them. I spent some time with an incredulous Apple Store employee, and after a while of staring and comparing he admitted that there was a slight variation. It might not actually be differing brightness, but a slightly different tone between the extreme left and right sides of the screen.
Anyhow I think I'll just get an Eizo 24" monitor to run as an expanded desktop with the new iMac, but from my inspection this appears to be a phenomenon that affects all 24" monitors, and returning your iMac for a new one will probably end in the same result.
You have hawk eyes to even notice it, it's a very subtle gradation, but nevertheless real.

I found the fix on the World of Warcraft forums. The problem is with Air Port. Disable Air Port and plug your computer directly into your Router. My games and video run great. I'm getting 60fps in World of Warcraft and all the flash videos work great. Its the best solution until they fix the issue.

It sure did work... Hard wired to AirPort extreme, turned AirPort off and connected through Ethernet in network system preferences. Able to play videos from YouTube Hulu everywhere....Where is our update??

IMac dramatic video issues

i did read that many ppl have the same problem, i post a screenshot so u know what i am talking about:

i installed the fan control panel, http://www.lobotomo.com/products/FanControl/ but still no results. after 24-36 hours the screen starts again to draw this odd stuff.
the only thing that works is a logout or a restart. any news?

It's one of two issues: the graphics card is overheating (a problem with some recent-model Nvidia cards, I understand), or the card/card memory has wiggled loose. Both things cause that problem. You need to contact AppleCare and they should repair it free of charge.

As you can see in this docs video card is REPLACEBLE!!! It have usual mxm slot.

New iMac 27" screen issues!!!

Does anyone experiences this situation on their iMac with new "Screen LaminationProcess" ?
After leaving a white image still for couple minutes on the screen (Example: Web Site), a sort of halo remains.... This is noticeable when I working on applications with gray GUI's like Adobe Photoshop, Aperture, iMovie... pretty much any application.
I am kind of upset because the computer is only 1 month old and I just noticed this problem. Besides, there are some awkward brighter spots on the edges of the display… it seems like there is a leak of light from the inside out. That cannot be shown on the screen shots but they are bery anoying when watching a movie... ;(

You really should call AppleCare first. Let them be aware of the problems you are having. You will get a case number. Keep it in a safe place. It just may come in handy if the exact same problems crop up in the future after your warranty runs out.

Is the new imac's thunderbolt ports allows video input?

For the last imac, the tech specs says the mini display port could be used as a input (which output device has to be supporting display port).
In the new imac tech specs.... i couldn't find any thing about video input, only about that the 2 thunderbolt could be use as video output.
So would i be able to use it as a screen?
Also, i wanna connect my ps3 and use the imac as a screen!
(It's a fantastic full HD screen~)

So seems like, the popular Kanex XD and Belkin HDMI to Mini Display Port adapters would not work for the current imac generation.

New iMac bi-directional Displayport -- supports HDMI?

I notice the new iMac supports video input through the Mini DisplayPort (so you can use the iMac as a second monitor). Now I've seen Mini DisplayPort>HDMI converters for about $20 on monoprice.
So could I connect an HDMI device (like Blu-Ray player) to view on the new iMac?

Front Row: Photo Doesn't Play Subfolders on new iMac!

There doesn't seem to be a discussion group dedicated to Front Row but I'm having a problem with the Photo section so I guess this is the closest!
When viewing the Library, Albums or Folders in the 'root' directory of iPhoto through Front Row, everything works fine.
BUT
If I try to view an Album or Folder in a sub-directory, the contents of that Album is not displayed. Instead the contents of which ever 'root' Album was last viewed is displayed instead.
This is easy for someone to check, can anyone with a new iMac dupliacte this issue?

New imac with FInal cut studio?

Hi everyone,
I am looking at getting one of the new imacs for video editing (Final cut studio 2). The specs for final cut are 4 gig of ram (for some applications in the bundle).
I wanted to know, do I have to buy my ram from apple when I buy my mac, or can i upgrade it myself? And if so, would the imac be upto the job? From what I can see there isn't much difference between the new imac and the macbook pro (which is what I was going to get).
Also, what if the difference in (laymans terms, please) in the intel duo and the intel duo extreme? Is it a big difference for editing, or not worth the extra money?
Also (apologies for all the questions, i have no where else to get the answers) - can you attatch another display - such as a monitor or laptop to the new macs for editing?

as with all iMac and Macbook computers, there is a complete lack of expansion capabilities beyond a single firewire bus.
most potential buyers rationlize their purchasing of a lessor machine based upon length of project, type of video, hoping to get by, pick your poison. this is short-sighted as it's irrelevant. video, no matter which flavor, is processor intensive.
what else will you do with your computer? will you hook up a printer, a scanner, external harddrives, a card reader, a tape machine, perhaps rs422 control? how will you monitor hdv properly? how will you monitor audio? will you wander into surround sound mixing?
the iMac is a great computer but beware, just because others have used it successfully doesn't mean it's the shoe that will fit your foot the best. as i said, the iMac is woefully inadequate for any sort of expansion beyond a single firewire bus.

Set up of new iMac - need to sync existing iPhone & iPad but cannot

I have set up a new iMac and cannot get any of my itunes backups to sync my iphone and ipad to the new mac. My iphone & ipad were all synced to my old windows laptop via itunes and everything synchronized - mail, calendar, music etc. Now I am setting up a new iMac and I signed up the itunes via iCloud. This has only set up anything purchased through itunes and about 90% of my music was not purchased through itunes so most of it is missing. So I have spoken to apple support on the phone and they guided me to transfer my old windows media to the new iMac using migration assistant. Unfortunately this wouldn't connect, so I am back to square one.
So now I have manually moved all of my photos and music manually using an external hard drive - so that has taken over the largest amount of files to the new iMac but my issue still remains that nothing will sync to the new iMac. I am totally lost now and have no idea how to approach it.
I tried to back up the iPad and iPhone to iCloud but even that won't happen - so basically everything is still syncing to my old windows laptop and nothing is syncing to my new iMac.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to approach and where to start. I am based in Dubai and there is no apple store here so I can't even take it all in and just get it all sorted and I am not getting much help on the phone as the tech support is 9-5pm work days only and I am at work and not in front of the iMac to try any troubleshooting.
Any suggestions are WELCOME!

sign out of the itunes on the PC and then sign into the itunes on the ipad iphone and imac w/ the same apple id make sure that all 3 devices are authorized to the same apple id and then you should be able to start syncing the phone and pad to the imac.

I have a itunes 11, iMac, iPad sync issue... all new kit, the itunes library and photos are on a networrk drive but syncing is useless, no music, no photos, no video, sometimes music and videos may be visible but greyed out on the ipad....

This is my first posting so sorry for the messy title... I didn't realise how it all worked here.
I have a shiny new imac, shiny new ipad and have all my media on a network hard drive - itunes works fine on the mac - no problems - photos visible in finder and photoshop - no problems, but when I come to sync the new ipad - several things may happen (I have tried many times now)
1) a long wait - whirly gig round spinner thing - then music visible on the ipad but greyed out and useless
2) no photos at all synced
3) no videos synced
4) info syncs ok
5) apps seem to have synced OK
It is not a data size issue as the same amount of data synced before the new kit from my old windows pc on to an iPod - I daren't try syncing the ipod as I need it for my next business trip.
I tried removing the ipod cache files for the photos - no difference - I tried restoring the ipad - no difference
Have I completely wasted a large amount of money?

ps when syncing it jumps through steps 1 - 4 real fast, i seem to remeber iphone showing the number of tracks transferring and names, but i see nothing? then it sits on 5 saying "waiting for changes to be applied"
