New iMac restarts before it gets to desk top
i got the new imac recently and it has been perfect until a couple days ago. the last thing i used it for was to watch babel and i used the remote to put it to sleep. when i tried to turn it on it kept restarting and just going to the apple with the loading thing undearneath it and restarting over and over. what the heck can i do about this?
Try a *Safe Boot*.
Be sure the computer is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Hope this helps. it will disable any startup items and purge some cache files.
good luck
Ben

I'm trying to have existing Exchange accounts setup on my new iMac and can't get it to work.
I have existing Exchange accounts setup on my iPhone and iPad to access my work email. I'm trying to do the same on my new iMac and can't get it to work. I have it setup the same as my iPad and it asks me for my password over and over...any suggestions?
<Re-Titled By Host>Hi mwatts18,
As a preliminary troubleshooting step, you should reference the information in the following article:
OS X Mail: Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3276
I would especially suggest that you delete the account and re-add it, making sure that you are entering the correct password when you add the account. Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

Just got a new IMac and can't get past the welcome screen?
I'm trying to set up new iMac. Can't get past welcome screen!!
The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies. -
Have a new imac how do I get started?
I just got a new imac and can't get past the welcome choose a country screen. Help!
Sorry to hear of your problem. You are covered by warranty which includes 90 days of free phone support - I'd contact Apple and take advantage of it.

I just updated my brand new iMac and now I get a white screen
I just updated my new iMac and all I get is a white screen. It went from installing to the white screen. I can do nothing but shut it down by pressing the on/off button. When turned back on I get the white screen again. What happened? What can I do about it?
If the system is less than 14 days old, you said it was "Brand New", take it back and get a refund and then buy another. Apple has a 14 day No questions asked return policy for full refund. Take advantage of and get a system that works correctly. The one you have certainly isn't.

I just purchased a new iMac, and can't get into my Wordpress blog. The username and password work on my old Macbook, iPhone4, etc, and all my other password-restricted sites are accessible...just not Wordpress. Ideas? New to all this...Thanks! JP
Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

how do i get my desk top icons to stay at the bottom of screen
Are you referring to the Dock?
If so, go to the Apple menu > Dock and select "Turn hiding off".
If you are referring to individual icons on the Dock, right-click or Control-click on the icon, and in the Options submenu in the popup that appears, select "Keep in Dock". -

Can I get a text alert notification while in a messaging thread?
So, I am currently using my wife's old iPhone 4S. When I get a text message, my phone alerts me. When I am in the open the text and reply, no problem. The issue os that after I reply and I am in the THREAD, there is NO alert if the person replies. Can I change this so I can receive an alert? Thanks!

Bought new iMac, how do I get Lion on a second computer
So a week ago I bought a new iMac which came installed with Lion. Now I'd like to put it on my aluminum MacBook. Can I do that without buying Lion? When I sign into my account at the App store on the iMac, Lion is noted to be Installed, but if I sign in on the MacBook $29.99 shows up.
The Lion installation that came preinstalled with your new computer is tied to your new computer. You do not get to download the Lion installer and install it free on other computers with that license. You'll need to pay the thirty bucks.

New iMac "restarted because of a problem"
Hello,
Today my brand new iMac (3,5 GHz Intel Core i7, 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB) froze for a few seconds, then restarted with the message "Your computer was restarted because of a problem." and showed "You shut down your computer because of a problem." upon startup.
I then googled for solutions to the problem and ran Apple Diagnostics as suggested somewhere, with no results. I also installed all the software updates.
After that I continued working and after a while (less than an hour) the same thing happened again!
I've included the report at the bottom.
At the moment of the crash I was running Adobe Photoshop CS6, Firefox 27.0 (Youtube) and timeEdition. (Which would have been no problem on my older late 2009 iMac with much lower specs.)
I'm aware that there are other discussions about similar problems, but none of them have been resolved. And sometimes people were able to tell possible causes from the crash reports, so hopefully someone can do the same with mine.
I'd greatly appreciate any help at all, since I use this machine for work.
(Just in case, one of the processes running must have been the latest Wacom tablet driver. Please don't tell me to uninstall it. Again, I need it for working.)
Thank you very, very much in advance!

1.0Thanks for your reply! I do not necessarily want to uninstall Procaster (it's for broadcasting on livestream.com), as it is a program that I frequently use and plan to use in the future. I've used it last week for several hours without problems, running at the same time as Photoshop and Firefox.
Can you see anything else that might be causing this? Could it be Firefox or a Firefox Add-On?

New iMac 27" and cannot get it to mount a new LaCie thunderbolt drive. Any suggestions?
My new iMac 27" finally arrived and seemed to be working fine, until today when I received, from Apple Store, a LaCie d2, 3TB drive. Connected the Thunderbolt cables and powered it up. Rapidly flashing blue light on the drive but it does not mount on the desktop and does not show in the system report. Could be a bad drive or.........
All help appreciated. Can you see the drive in the System Report or Disk Utility?
One thing I read was that you need to do is to shut down, and unplug everything, your iMac, the Thunderbolt drive, everything. Then reconnect, and start up the iMac. Seems to cure everything.
If not, return the drive to the Apple store, and see if that fixes it. If that doesn't fix it, then return the iMac within the 14 day no questions asked return period and get a new one. You'll have to move fast. -
Hi Dears
My Apple wireless Mouse and keyboard dose not work since one Month after getting the new iMac 27 !
The Bluetooth assistant could find the Devices for few seconds but can not pairing them ? at least get an error
Operation system is already of version 10.7.5 updated ,but no use ?!
Could getting the Os x 10.7.5 Bluetooth utility repaired after updating to Admin Tools 10.7.5 ?
When not ,than advice me please to repair or solving this problem ,Your problem is likely due to
com.paceap.kext.pacesupport.snowleopard 5.9.1
I would recommend tracking down the app that uses this and unionist all it completely from your computer. Also if you have upgraded the RAM on the machine you may have a RAM falling DIMM or it may have become unseated or it might not be the correct specs for your machine. -
I just got a brand new iMac to replace my old G4 PowerBook, however when I go to install LR2 on it I can't. I can't even get past the validation point in the beginning of the installation. How to I go about installing this so I can continue doing photography editing?
You cannot install or run Lightroom 2 on your new Intel-based iMac running OS X Yosemite.
Lightroom 2 was written for old PowerPC based Macs running earlier versions of OS X up to OS X 10.6.

In the market for a new iMac - -What should i get???
Im planning on getting one of the new iMacs, yet I am very on the fence about which one I should get- the 20 inch or the 17 inch.
Which will have the better graphics, and by how much?
How much faster will the 20 inch be? (Both would be with 1gb of ram)
Does the 20 inch look bulky and clunky compared to the 17?
Any help is appreciated, thanks. It really depends on what you like, and how much money you can shell out. I would recommend looking at and using them in person at a local apple store if at all possible. I doubt the speed difference is noticable. Also, if you are using a monitor larger than 17 inches now, you might be disapointed with a 17 inch. It seems to be a much harder adjustment going from a big screen to smaller screen than small to big. I went with the 20 inch because right now I use a 19, and whenever I have to use anything smaller it drives me insane and i feel like I have no work space. Most people are perfectly happy with a 17 inch if they don't care about screen realestate or are not used to working on anything larger. I'd say go with the 20 if you can afford it, but if the screen size is not an important factor, you'll probably be happy with a 17.
