New iMessage convo - Contact's name w/ blue bubble?

I opened a new iMessage and started typing a name so that my Contacts list appears. I saw that only certain iPhone users have the tiny blue bubble beside their name (on the right side of the screen), even those of whom I've deleted our iMessage conversation window. The bubble doesn't appear for some other iPhone users, only certain contacts.
Does this mean only those contacts have my phone number AND our conversation window is still open on their iPhone?
Someone had a similar question. Is lisamckelvie's and SGL11's response correct?

This means you have had an iMessage conversation with them in the recent past. Check the User Guide to see what the time frame is http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf, as I cannot remember it off the top of my head.

Double click the home button and swipe up the messages app to stop it, then open the app again. This pretty much completely stops the process and freshly opens it again, resolving problems at times. I have had this happen before as well on my iPad, I get a banner, check messages, and nothing new is there.
If that doesn't work, close the app like suggested above, but then restart the phone by holding down the home and lock button for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears.

Yes, I just noticed this after upgrading to 5.0.1. That's why I came here to this forum. I tried re-syncing with address book, but it didn't help. Not only is my text messages only showing phone numbers, instead of contact names, but my call log is doing that as well.

On ios7, How do I only have a contact's name popup when they text me rather than the entire text?

I just bought the iPhone 5s and am having trouble setting up the messaging as I had it on my iPhone 4s. When I receive an imessage or text message, I prefer that only the contact's name shows up on my lock screen. Right now, the contact's name and the entire text pops up on my lock screen. How do I fix this?
I went into General Settings and then Messages, and have played around to try and fix it, but haven't had any luck.
Any advice?

IPhone 4s iOS 5.1 update, iMessage- my contact is coming up as my apple ID

I updated my iphone 4s to ios 5.1 last night and then today when I texted someone else with an iPhone using iMessage, my contact came up as my Apple ID email on their phone instead of my name that was associated with my phone number. This obviously caused a lot of confusion because my email isn't my name and the person I texted didn't know who the message was from. The message looks completely normal on my phone and their contact came up fine but mine didn't work on theirs. I also determined it was my phone that was the problem because I texted another person with an iPhone and the same exact thing happened again. I checked to see if anyone else had this problem and I couldn't find any postings on the Apple forum. So if you are having the same problem and/or know how to fix it, please help!

Go into Settings>Messages>Receive at>See that the phone number is the one that is checked off.
EDIT: Sorry, I forgot,there is one more layer, scroll down to Caller ID and make sure the phone number is the one checked. For some reason mine sometime today showed an error for the phone number. It wasn't that way even after the update. I just toggled iMessage off and back on and that corrected it.

Is there a shortcut for creating a new iMessage from anywhere in OS X?
I know it doesn't take a long time to open messages and start a new conversation but it would be nice if there was a shortcut that allowed a new conversation to be started from anywhere. Here is an example of what I am looking for. I accessed this by clicking the messages icon on someone's contact page.

011 not seen in new iMessage

Hola! There is a bug in the current version of iOS 6
In order to iMessage Mexico from the USA, one needs to include the North American dialing code of 011 and then the country number- 52 (81).
The bug comes in that when I create a new iMessage and search for my Mexican friend's name, only her alternate number comes up which looks like- +52 (81). This one only works for Viber/Whatsapp.
Mexican mobiles have 12 digits with country code, 15 with the NA prefix
In a nutshell, 011 numbers are not recognized when starting a new message.
Anyone else seeing this?

I'm not sure if this will help but it's a thought. The iPhone has a dial assist feature that helps to determine international prefixes when dialing. Maybe if you shut it off you can dial the correct prefix
Settings > Phone > Dial Assist > Off

So, this is a problem because when Siri attempts to send iMessages to those without iPhones it, of course, fails.
For example, if I say to Siri, "Tell my mother 'Hello.'" It will try to send an iMessage. My mother has an Android phone, so the iMessage just gets lost in cyberspace.
I use Siri quite often, this problem only occured about two hours ago.
Can anyone help me with this?

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

I don't see my contact's names on message anymore, why?

I've been using message for a while and it has always been working fine.
Once I messed up with my internet accounts and eventually I fixed it.
Now, even though message is sync with my iphone and I see incoming messages on both devices, I don't see my contact's name on my IMac.
On my Iphone continue to work just fine, but on the Imac I can't see their names...ggrrrrrr!!
Does anybody know what might have happened?

Please try each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
Step 1
You may need to synchronize contacts between the Mac and your other devices. One way to do that is via iCloud. On the Mac, open the iCloud preference pane and sign in if you haven't already done so. Check the box marked Contacts. Do the equivalent on your mobile device(s).
Make sure that your contact accounts are enabled in the Accounts tab of the Contacts preferences window.
Step 2
If you use a messaging service other than iMessage, then from the Messages menu bar, select
View ▹ Buddy Names ▹ Show Full Names (or Show Short Names)
Step 3
From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Language & Region
From the Region menu in the window, select one of the preset regions. If one is already selected, choose a different one, then change it back. Close the preference pane. Quit and relaunch Messages.
If you still have the problem after taking those steps, post your results.

I can tell you that with Sprint their coverage area isn't as good as Verizon or AT&T.
Are you sending these imessage while on wifi or cellular data? Also your husband would need to be in a good coverage area.
Usually when imessage is unavailable it will send it as a text. Does your husband receive your imessage as a text?

Does the new Front row features the same Podcasts blue markers on TV show? As I'm using Tiger right now with Front-Row V1 that only show the blue markers on the Podcasts.
Not only that, but it also doesn't update the TV Shows counters when using front-row.
Another thing I wonder, its about Apple TV 2 (or whatever the name is) I'm using my Mini-MAC to watch iTunes Podcasts, TV Shows, Movies and DVD movies on my living room. Should I just get an Apple TV instead? Or with Leopard I can make it work just like Apple TV but with less restrictions? Right now I'm using an external 400 gig HD.

There is no way around the activation lock. You apparently decided to use the phone with someone else's ID set up for an iCloud (and find my iPhone) account before updating. Since Find My iPhone was active, updating to iOS 7 has automatically turned on the activation lock. If you do not have the Apple ID and password that were previously used, then the phone is now useless. You can't activate it without that informaion.
Talk to whoever you bought the phone from if you can. If you can't, buy a new phone.
