New in oracle product question

1) Does oracle has own jvm?
2) Does jdeveloper provide databiding feature for hibernate ?I just know ejb only.
3) Is jdeveloper free?

1 - yes it is the OJVM and we use it for the profiling and monitoring capabilities of JDeveloper.
2 - You can bind any Javabean including Hibernate. But we have more out of the box automatic things working for EJB, TopLink, Web Services and ADF BC.
3 - Yes JDeveloper is free - you can google for JDeveloper price faq and get the full details.

  • New to the product - question about validating multiple fields as a group

I have a static form that I'm building from a word document.  Part of that form requires a person to fill any 3 out 5 text fields.
Since it looks like scripts are applied on a field by field basis, is it possible to have a script that encompasses multiple fields?
Would any script need to be applied to each field in turn?
Assuming the answer to question 1 is a yes, how would you script it to require x number of fields out of a total of y to have some sort of content in order to validate?
I'm pretty familiar with JavaScript and am looking at the Scripting reference guides but was hoping for a helping hand to get me there quicker as I'm in a bit of a time crunch - doing 18 forms with validation and database connectivity by January 15 certainly qualifies in my book.
I would assume you'd do something like this but am unsure of the syntax...
    Get values of each field
Set a valid counter variable for the number of fields with content
If field 1 is not empty, increment the valid counter
    (rinse and repeat)
if the valid counter is less than 3 throw an error message
Many thanks in advance for any help offiered

1). Yes, scripting within Livecycle can be for a single field or even static text, images and other artifacts within the PDF. Really anything, within Adobe's reason, when it comes to scripting.
2). It depends on what you want to do. Things like field validations, calculations and other instances where fields are tied togther really dictate how the script runs.
3). Fields that have calculations or validations with them work in the same, I believe. So for example I have a PDF that I made that is an Excel-type sheet that contains a few hundred cells and every single one has some type of validation or calculation associated with it. I generally run the calculations/validations from the user inputting the data and then after that the script runs, but again, it really dpeneds on what you are doing and with what, so answering some of your questions are a bit difficult.
Javascrip/Formcalc are wonderful tools within PDF, but don't forget the Action Builder (Tools -Action Builder). It is a set of preloaded actions that are turn-key. Just select the cells that will have the action and select the result you want from the preloaded list of actions, using those actions can get you very far, and most of all; they are quick to implement without researching code. So for example, you could use the Action Builder to create an action that checks certain fields and if they are null to return a 1 value to a specific numericField (these could be hidden). Then have a "total" numericField (this would be your counter) that adds all of those fields with the 1 in it. Then create another Action Builder for that "total" numericField and if it is less than 3, display a message box that is a warning.

  • How to move Oracle APPS 12 setup data to new APPS 12 production environment

    Dear All
I need to know , how we can move Oracle APPS 12 setup data to new APPS 12 production environment?? What is the easy and secure way, we dont want to do the new installation of APPS 12 and re-setup the things....
    cheers

    Hi,
Can you please explain more regarding to move setup from DEV to PROD instance. The steps are documented in the iSetup manual, so have you gone through the documentation?
Also we would install PROD with multi tier nodes, and HA cluster. So in that case what would be the change to move the setups from DEV to PROD, as DEV is single node TEST APPS 12 installation.iSetup is helpful in moving the functional setup between the two instances. If you want to create an identical copy of your DEV instance to PROD instance (provided that both instances contain no data), then you can use "Rapid Clone" -- See (Note: 799735.1 - Rapid Clone Documentation Resources, Release 11i and 12).

  • New In Oracle Form

    Hi,
I am new in oracle form and i need material for study and if possible someone have ready framework.
    Thanks,

Well, there is certainly no shortage of reading material available. The question you need to ask yourself is "what do I already know". In other words, it would be helpful if you understood the basics of how a web server works (specifically Apache) and how web content is deployed. For example, just a simply web page. This information will help you to better understand how your Forms application will run.
Then, to get an understand of the Oracle Forms product you can start by reviewed the documents found in the Overview section of this page:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/documentation/techlisting11gr1-086315.html
The product document library will cover deployment and installation:

  • Oracle CPU question with 11.5.10 CU2

Just a general question. First time trying to apply an Oracle CPU and in this case applying the July 2010 CPU to our Test E-biz 11.5.10 CU2 RUP7 install.
My configuration is RH Linux ES 4.8 with a 10.2.0.4 database server running admin, db and CCM services and then an app server running forms and web services.
I'm referring to "Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 11i and 12 Critical Patch Update Knowledge Document (July 2010) [ID 986534.1]" and then the subsequent articles that follow that.
    My questions are:
Q1. My database level is currently 10.2.0.4. It would appear my steps are first update Opatch (no problem there).
    Then apply 9032412.
Then it looks like I apply either CPU Patch 9655017, or PSU Patch 9654991.
    But PSU 9654991 REQUIRES PRE-REQUISITE 10.2.0.4.4 so I can't apply that right?
I will apply 9655017 instead and will that get me to 10.2.0.4.5?
Q2. My configuration is DB Tier with CCM and an app Tier running forms, reports as mentioned.
Do I have to worry about the Fusion Middle-ware stuff?
Q3. Patches to apply to E-Business Suite.
Looks like 9578142 applies to my environment.
Check the pre-reqs to ensure I have anything that needs to be applied first.
Then depending on what modules we use or have installed (does it make a difference) I'll apply subsequent patches say for 'Financials'.
Q3. Anything else I need to consider? We are patching Test first and when done if it's all good we'll schedule Prod.
I realize this is a pretty generic question. My main uncertainty is on the db 10.2.0.4 patch and if the 965517 will get me to 102045 or not.
Update - My first patch is giving me the OUI-67620 superset error which I believe is telling me the new patch contains all the fixes from the existing patch so ok to proceed. Right?
ApplySession adding interim patch '9032412' to inventory
    Verifying the update...
Inventory check OK: Patch ID 9032412 is registered in Oracle Home inventory with proper meta-data.
Files check OK: Files from Patch ID 9032412 are present in Oracle Home.
The local system has been patched and can be restarted.

  • Forms installation problem - how do I create a new default Oracle home?

I am new to Oracle so please forgive my utter ignorance. My impression of Oracle because of how an installation
has to be done is taking a nosedive. I thought Microsoft was bad with all the re-booting but the explanation that I
read in Anubhav Seth's post about installing Dev 6i before 8i and the suggestion (not a requirement) to format the
harddisk and reinstall Windows just leaves me with my jaw hanging open. I'm having a little trouble swallowing that
    one.
Here's my situation... I'm running 8i at home and I am using it for the Oracle courses that I am taking at a local
university. So 8i with its SQL*Plus has been all I have needed to date. Now we have a project to do that involves forms.
So I go to the OTN page for downloads and downloaded file 6irel2nt.exe which is 264 MB in size. This file, I assume,
has forms in it -- what else I don't know because things are not explained all that well on the web site or I don't know
where to look (which implies poor organization of the web pages).
I run the 6irel2nt.exe file and end up with 11,128 new files on my computer. That's nice. I run the setup file and a step or
two into it it complains that my 'Ora81' home is already being used and that I need to install it into another Oracle Home.
Now I'm trying to find out how I create another Oracle Home. I perform a search in GOOGLE on "creat default Oracle
home" and basically get nowhere. My $50+ "Oracle 8i A Beginner's Guide" from Oracle Press mentions Oracle Home
on one page (pg. 170) but is completely useless in this case. My $184 worth of Oracle University manuals (which
are really PowerPoint slides) is useless too. My next step will be to comb through the FAQs. All this because I cannot
believe that I have to totally uninstall one product to get another to install and then reinstall the first one. That is INSANE!
If I have gone way off track please feel free to blast me but if this is true then all I can say is that the folks at Oracle need
a lesson in KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)! Computers and computer software are supposed to make our lives simpler
not complicate the holy hell out of them. I'll get off my soapbox now. Sorry about the whining.

I ended up uninstalling 8i and then I installed Dev 6i (Forms) and then I reinstalled 8i. I had some problems
installing Dev 6i because of this error "path.vrf(86): Unbound variable 'path_too_long_prompt'". Right after this error
appears I get a dialog that states, "The Oracle Installer cannot update the system path variable to %new_path%
because it is too long. Please restrict your system path to 127 characters and make sure D:\Oracle\OraWin95\bin
    is included in your path."
The path D:\Oracle\OraWin95 was what I set up for this installation.
What I did to work around this problem was this...
    (1) Go to Start - Accessories - System Tools - System Information.
    (2) Click on the Tools menu
    (3) Select System Configuration Utility
    (4) Select the Autoexec.bat tab
    (5) I added D:\Oracle\OraWin95\bin to my PATH variable and unchecked the checkbox next to one of the several
lines that I have that build my PATH variable. (I have several PATH lines that simply add a path to the system
variable %path%). After the installation is complete you can go back and turn back on the paths that you had disabled.
After installing 8i I did have a problem connecting to the database. I got this error:
    Error: ORA-01034 Oracle not available
I believe this happened because I had forgotten to turn back on some of my PATH information that I mentioned
earlier. After checking one of my PATH variables and rebooting, this problem disappeared.
When reinstalling 8i and when the installation asks for an SID and you enter the SID you had used in the original
installation you may get a notice that says the SID already exists. I think this happens because the uninstall does not
clean up the registry totally, so I entered a different one. Later on, after the installation has been completed and you
are connecting to your database, you will be prompted to select an SID -- just make sure that you select the SID from
    the latest installation.
I should've mentioned first that in preparing for this whole ridiculous exercise I created a directory under my Oracle
directory that I was going to use as the new 'Oracle home.' So I guess that's all one has to do to create a new Oracle
home -- just have another directory ready to install 'stuff' into.
All in all, this a pretty asinine exercise. Oracle really needs to fix this mess. I honestly thought Microsoft was bad but
this takes the cake. I wonder if SQL Server is this screwed up.

    ==============================================
    PURPOSE
    Explanation
Flashback : 새로운 기능인 Flahback 은 과거 시점의 consistent view 를 볼 수있는
기능으로 system time or systme change number(SCN) 기반 read-only view이다.
    UNDO_MANAGEMENT = AUTO
    2) Rentention interval 을 두어 해당 time 동안은 inactive rollback 이라 하더라도
    overwrite 되지 않도록 유지(초단위)
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM SET undo_retention = 1200;
UNDO_RETENTION 을 지정한 다음 실제 적용을 위해 5분정도 기다려야 한다.
    3) DBMS_FLASHBACK package를 이용하여 Flashback 기능을 enable 시킨다.
    SQL> call dbms_flashback.enable_at_time('9-NOV-01:11:00:00');
    Example1. Flashback setup 과 date/time 설정
    1) Undo tablespace 생성
SQL> create undo tablespace UNDOTBS datafile

  • Please help me. I'm new to Oracle.

    Hello all
I'm Sean and new to Oracle and wana purse learning Oracle Forms&Reports but to start I need to also learn Oracle DataBase as well.
Please I know you're all busy but HELP me to fix this problem and start learning Oracle.
I've installed oracle DB 10G. XE. without any problem and have been using it everyday BUT I just installed Oracle SQL Dev v. 1.2.1.... and can't creat a new connection. (it's all installed in my compaq laptop using Win XP SP 3).
I've been reading all the comments in forums but I'm still stuck. PLEASE SOME ONE HELP ME.
Learning from all you guys comment I looked at my Listener.ora and it looks like this:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server)
    (PROGRAM = extproc)
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = CLRExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server)
    (PROGRAM = extproc)
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Shawn_COMPAQ)(PORT = 1521))
    DEFAULT_SERVICE_LISTENER = (XE)
and my sqlnet.ora looks like this:
    # This file is actually generated by netca. But if customers choose to
    # install "Software Only", this file wont exist and without the native
    # authentication, they will not be able to connect to the database on NT.
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
    The tnsnames.ora looks like this:
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = SHAWN_COMPAQ)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = XE)
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    ORACLR_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = CLRExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
from looks of it comparing to what I have seen in ppl's comments and copy&past of files in forums, my 3 files all looks weird and I guess it missing lot of things.
when I try to create a new connection to see built-in schema (HR) all though it's unlocked but sql dev can't establishes a connection.
In New \ Select database connection window for following fields iI put:
Hostname = localhost:1521:orcl (I 've tried just putting localhost)
    Port = 1521
    SID = orcl
In my browser when I am in home page of DB 10g XE the URL reads: http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4500:1000:4313426409493576
When i put hostname = localhost (or either 127.0.0.1) and port = 1521 and SID = orcl, I'm getting error :
status: failure-listener refused the connection with following error - ORA-12505, TNS: listener doesn't currently know of SID given in connect descriptor The connection descriptor used by client was: localhost:1521:orcl .
When I just change the Port to 8080 I get the error:
Status: failure-Io Exception: Got minus one from a read call.
By default DB 10g XE installed in: C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\.............
and all the mentioned files (3 files mentioned above) are in: C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\NETWORK\ADMIN
Please I know you're all busy but HELP me to fix this problem.
    God bless you.
    tnx
    Sean

    Thanks a lot.
    Yes. It works well now.
In it's documentation it says put orcl for SID but never thought to try default xe.
    You're the man.
    tnx

I created a database and a new connection in it using sql developer, however while trying to create new user with the name db1 by right clicking on other users. by following the instructions in oracle documentation site. i get the error that new user db1 doesnt exist, and gives error:- ORA-01981. i even tried by changing the username as i thought may be it doesnt support alphanumeric name, but still i get the same error.
So please tell me how to create a new user. is there any way to get out of this ora:-01918, as i googled and it says this is a bug.
My os is win 7 x64(amd processor ).
    Thank you
    Baldwin

A new user (called a schema in Oracle) is created using the CREATE USER SQL command. You need to be signed in as the SYS schema/user or as a schema that has been granted the rights to create schemas.
12c database comes in two basic flavours. Container database (containing pluggable databases). Standard database. If connected to a container database, you cannot create standard user schemas - you need to be connected to a pluggable database.
Also, your question has no relevance to either the SQL or PL/SQL languages - the subject matter of this forum. Please repost your question to a more appropriate forum dealing with SQL-Developer issues.

  • ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/dbs/initORA11G.ora'

I have installed an Oracle 11gR2 on Oracle Linux Server 6.6 (Virtualbox). I have the users grid and oracle11g. Add groups and install grid infrastructure first as a grid user and install database as oracle user as in documentation successfully.
I have following users and groups as
    [grid@orcl11g ~]$ id grid

When I log on as grid user. I check the followings:
    [grid@orcl11g ~]$ crsctl check has
CRS-4638: Oracle High Availability Services is online
    [grid@orcl11g ~]$ srvctl status database -d ora11g
    Database is running.

When I log as  oracle user. I check the followings:
[oracle11g@orcl11g ~]$ sqlplus sys as sysdba

LRM-00109: could not open parameter file '/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/dbs/initORA11G.ora'
Also when I log on as a grid user again and use following commands to shutdown and start database again the STATUS of instance is again STARTED not OPEN.
    [grid@orcl11g ~]$ srvctl stop database -d ora11g -o normal
    [grid@orcl11g ~]$ srvctl start database -d ora11g
And also when I edit /etc/oratab file. I change N to Y for +ASM. But when restart system it seems not changed value is N again.
+ASM:/u01/app/grid/product/11.2.0/grid:N   # line added by Agent
         ora11g:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1:Y
    NOW QUESTIONS!!!!!
    1. Why I can't change the status of database to OPEN as grid user?
    2. The status is always STARTED when querying v$instance. İs it status of +ASM or database?
    3. When checking database as grid user it seems to be Database runnning...  If running why it is not in OPEN state? What is running means here?
    4. When I log on as oracle user and query v$instance, then error shown above occured. And also when startup  the database then another error occured as in above. WHY?
    5. When I edit /etc/oratab file manually why second row saved but the first one is changed after restart the system?
    6. Normally, which user have to start, stop or manage database? I think that oracle user is necessary for managing database and the grid user is only for managing ASM and Oracle Restart.
PLEASE HELP ME TO SOLVE THIS CHAOTİC SİTUATİON!!!
    Thanks,
    DBA_84

I have installed an Oracle 11gR2 on Oracle Linux Server 6.6 (Virtualbox)
Pl identify exact version of 11gR2 to 4 decimal places. As noted in your other thread - Failed to start oracle-ohasd, error: Inappropriate ioctl for device ohasd failed to start at roothas.pl - you will need a minimum version of 11.2.0.3 for Linux 6.x - using a lower version may result in unexpected issues or problems.

  • New in oracle webcenter

Hi , i am new in oracle webcenter .I am quite confuse now .Can anyone tell me what software should i need to install to try the oracle webcenter? I has already download Oracle Jdeveloper, Weblogic , Database ,Webcenter suite and Oracle RCU. Is it compulsory to install all the software on my PC? So far I am using window 7 64 bit.
In addition , can anyone give me some note which are best for the newbie to try the oracle webcenter?
I know this question is quite stupid. Special thanks to anyone who help me :)

You don't need to install all that software if you want to test the basic functionality of WebCenter.
JDeveloper is the IDE that you will be using to develop the portal. When you have installed Jdev, go to Help, Check for updates and look for the WebCenter extensions. Download and install them.
JDeveloper will than restart and when you create a new application you will see additional templates:
WebCenter Portal application: this is the template that allows you to create a portal with webcenter
Portlet producer: this template will create an application that allows you to create JSR 286 portlets that can be consumed in a webcenter portal or any other JEE portal with WSRP support.
The webcenter extensions do not contain the webcenter services like document services, discussion forums, activity streams and so on. If you also want to test them out, than you will need to install weblogic + webcenter suite.
A good start is the tutorial. I am currently in the procces of writing one. Currently i only have finished 2 parts but it's a start :)
    http://www.yonaweb.be/webcenter_tutorial/introduction
You will also find lots of other examples and articles on my blog :)
You can also download the prebuild VM from Oracle: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/downloads/owcs-portalfw-vbox-284132.html
This VM does contain a full installation of the webcenter portal framework with the services (webcenter spaces is not installed on this VM).
And this is the tutorial from Oracle: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e10273/toc.htm

  • Reporting bugs in oracle products

Is there a webpage whre I can report bugs in oracle
    products.
    Thanks,
    Artur...

The only place I'm aware of short of calling Oracle is metalink.oracle.com but you have to have paid for Oracle support to access
the web site. From there you can file a TAR(Technical Assistance Request) and a support person will research your problem and
either find an existing fix or classify it as a new bug.
