New Infinity Installation. No internet connection ...

Hi.
Had Infinity installed on Thursday afternoon and was initially impressed with 40Mb+ download and 15Mb upload speeds.
However, at about 5.30pm webpages stopped loading. Rebooted the HomeHub3 and was ok again for about 15 minutes but then nothing for the rest of the night.
Internet was back the next morning but same thing happened again last night until about 11.15pm when it was back as if nothing had happened. Whilst there is no access, the HomeHub shows 3 solid lights. It's like there is a connection but its so slow that webpages time out. Tried using wireless connection and wired through Powerline adaptors. Also tried connecting directly to the router.
So for 2 nights out of 2 I've had no access to the net which is obviously not acceptable. Can anyone suggest anything that I can try? I will have access to a new router later today so I will try using that.

Hiya - same thing has happened to me - go BT Infinity2 installed last Tuesday, all ok 48mb down 9+up until Fri 18th May when it dropped out and was v.slow. No internet until Saturday 19th during the day. Then 40+mb ok until 2330 Saturday 19th dropped out log shows CWMP:session connect host failed - again no internet until Sunday 19th - a call to 0800 111 4567 remedied the situation with "a fault at the exchange - working the the exchange" then I got 48mb dowm, 9mb up until.... 2330 on Sunday when the signal dropped out - like you, SensiBlue, three bluse lights and I can ping a server so theres a connection,  but the log again shows CWMP:session connect host failed and CWMPSL certificate error. No internet again all night - a further call to tech help merely resulted in the response than an engineer will come to my house - in four days time! to see if its a fault on my line. This hardly seems likely as I can ping out, and the line was checked - just 6bB loss only on Tuesday. I have tried a new router too - no difference. This intermittent fault seems to be fairly common on the forums too. Anyone got an idea? Like you say, SensiBlue, its not acceptable.

  • EHP installation without internet connection

Hello, we are going to install EHP4 on our SAP ERP system.
But all our SAP systems (including SAP Solution Manager especially) are in closed network area and have not internet connection. As a result we cannot use SAP Maintain Optimizer to calculate and prepare installation sofware stack for SAPEHPI procedure.
Can we prepare this installation software stack file manually?
Can we install EHP4 without internet connection at all?

Hi, thank you for answer, Sunny.
But it's not very good news
May be I can use xml-stack file from other sap erp system which has the same version and patch level?
Theoretically I can just do some correcting (i.e. change system attributes) in this file and then put it for SAPEHPI tool. Is it possible?

  • If I download Mountain Lion on my MBP , can I use the same installer file on a different computer and continue the installation without Internet connectivity?

    Hi Folks,
I have just downloaded Mountain lion on my  Macbook Pro(haven't installed it yet) . My question is, can I copy the same downloaded Mountain Lion from the Applications on to an external hard drive and use the same on a different computer? I am having problems with internet connectivity right now, it would be amazing if it can be installed on the iMac without internet connection.
    So is that doable?
    Thanks in advance

And the 2nd installation would not require internet connectivity? Except , of course during the set up and the configuration of iCloud and location based services, which I can skip at the time

  • How do I transfer itunes library from an old computer that is not internet connected to a new computer that is internet connected?

We have an old computer that is broken so no internet connection possible, but now want to transfer our iTunes Library from old computer to our new computer.  Can it be done and if so how?

You will have to use a storage device to do so, such as a hard drive or media disk(DVD).

  • New iMac Cant Hold Internet Connection (and finds a lot of networks....)

    Hello,
I have one of the new 20" iMacs released 8/7. My problem is that my iMac cant hold an internet connection and it finds a lot of possible networks to which it can connect.
I am certain the issue lies with the iMac because my old Powerbook G4 has no problems connecting to the internet and it is sitting literally next to the iMac. Furthermore, I actually had purchased an iMac about a week ago and that one had no problems connecting to the internet either. (I returned that one when the new iMacs were released.) So that means 2 Macs had no problems connecting to the internet from the same location yet this new iMac does.
One thing I have noticed about this new iMac is that it detects many more networks than my Powerbook or the iMac from last week. I live in Manhattan so there are networks everywhere. Sometimes the iMac will give me 15 or so different networks to connect to and seconds later the choices drop to 5 or so. When I try to connect to the network I want (my network) the connection doesnt hold and it frequently drops. It takes me forever to download anything. I have to write this post on my Powerbook. My Powerbook only detects 2 or 3 possible networks to connect.
I rebooted, etc. and that did not work. I shut the Powerbook down so that it would not "compete" with the iMac and that did not work either.
    Any suggestions/ideas?

    Hello Wireless groupies:
I have had wireless problems with my laptop and my power mac this week, but all is well for me now.
The grass roots issues of wireless communication in terms of physics are related to amplitude and frequency. The amplitude is controlled (signal strength) by the power setting of the router and the portable device. The amount of power in the signal is measured in watts per square meter and is controlled by the broadcasting units settings.
The frequency at which the router broadcasts is changed by channels available in both units. I believe the portable units scan each channel for base station transmissions just like the radio in your car/lorry . The frequencies associated with each channel on the base transmitter can be assigned by the user for the best reception in the local broadcast area, most likely your home. The area which you operate has many different interference parameters which degrade signal strength just as in your portable radio reception. In the base station world it is based upon digital transmission encrypted (D to A) into an analog signal then decrypted at the laptop from analog to digital signal.(A to D). Experimentation is probably the only method to determine which is the best frequency to operate between your devices.
It should be noted that the new Imac's have an extended frequency range because they use a 'N' class wifi set of components. The N class wifi allows for higher frequencies and extended ranges. A base station which is a G class wifi can only broadcast in the lower frequency range and hence the availability of the higher frequencies of the new Imac are irrelevant because the Imac must receive only what is is transmitted in the 'G' range, 'N' class reception and hence the benefits of higher frequencies are not available. The only solution is to have 'N' class devices through out the network, otherwise everything reverts to the 'G' class range of lower frequencies. The solution to extend the frequency range of the network is to upgrade ethernet cards and base stations, so that 'N' class frequency transmission can be utilized.
The network will work with 'G' and 'N' devices but the network is only as good as the lower class device of transmission and reception.
I would start by getting an extreme network airport base station and then experimenting with different channels at a midpoint power transmission. The best frequency would be one which delivers the most power at a set power transmission level (signal strength). The higher the frequency the greater the penetration through walls, beams, people, dogs, cats, pipes, tabletops....:). I would then experiment with the power levels for the range which you want to cover, most likely just your home and not your entire neighborhood.
In my house I use channel 6 and power level 5 from a 2wire gateway/router, which is in the G extreme class range. I have always used channel 6 but I have tried power levels 3, 4 and 5. The biggest interference variable being weather and cordless phones. The cordless phones operate in the 2.4 GHZ range and the 900 MHZ range. The phone directly above my router is a 900MHZ phone and it never interferes with the 2.4 GHZ wifi network. I think the worst phone to have with a G class network are the 5.4GHZ phones because they actually use some of the same wireless bandwidth. A 'N' class network would probably be a better choice if you want to use a 5.4GHZ phone system.
    good luck

  • New Toshiba wireless turns Internet connection off (thru Linksys WRT110)

I "commissioned" a new Toshiba A660 (customized) yesterday. We have a DSL line with Motorola modem and Cisco Linksys WRT110 router with one Cat5-connect.  For a brief period the Toshiba could access the Internet thru the wireless (I registered the computer and the Norton AntiVirus.) Subsequently I "activated" or allowed the Toshiba to self-install Bluetooth (built in, but, it appears, not listed in the device manager).
Before the afternoon was over I found that the Toshiba, with WiFi antenna "on" effectively killed my Internet connection.  My Dell, which was hardwired thru the Cisco could not get to the Internet; my Mac, which works wirelessly, could not access the Internet.  When I turn the Toshiba's wireless antenna OFF, Internet access to the other two computers is restored within 45-60 seconds. This situation persisted after a "Restore to Factory" procedure this morning, where the Toshiba killed our Internet access during or shortly after the "configuring the desktop" portion of the hour-long restoration.
Another call to, and call-back from, Toshiba tech support resulted in their suggestions that 1) I should see if my computer crashes someone else's Internet connection and 2) that it must be the Cisco.
The Toshiba behaves itself when connected to the Cisco via Cat5 (as long as the wireless antenna is not turned on).
So, Cisco, Do I need a router upgrade to keep the Toshiba from killing my Internet connection?

    Solved!

If your new computer is running windows 7, disable IPv6 under LAN properties for both the wired and wireless adapters.  Reboot computer and connect again.

  • Can i use a brand new macbook pro without internet connection? I can't get through the setup without specifying internet.

My friend bought on my advice a macbook pro. He has no internet connection at home. Getting started with the macbook pro, we can't skip the internet connection information box.
This may seem a little strange in a www organised world, but he only wants to use the macbook for storing photos and music.
Is there something we overlooked, or is internet connection a must?
    Thx

There should be a place to select "Other network options" or some such wording, where you can select "This Mac does not connect to the internet."

  • New Infinity installation is slower than ADSL - Su...

BT just rolled out Superfast broadband in my area so I signed up with BT. I was promised 13Mbps/1Mbs which was disappointing as it's nowehhere near the 'Superfast' speeds that BT advertise. I already have an ADSL line from TalkTalk which tests out at about 6.5Mbs/0.8Mbps so even though I will be paying 50% more at least I was promised that I would get double the speed. If only that were true!
A brand new line was run to the house on 20/5/2015 & the BT Homehib installed. However the speed is only 5Mbps/1Mbps & has not changed since installation. I immediately called customer support on the day of installation but they say there is nothing wrong with my line but clearly there is as I am not getting anywhere near a 'Superfast' speed not even the same speed as my exisiting ADSL line.
What do I need to do to escalate this & get the problem sorted? Clearly I don't intend paying 50% more to get an inferior 'Superfast' line from BT.

  • BT Infinity installation CD cannot connect to BT H...

I finally got my Windows XP activated on my laptop after finding my lost product key code. Up until now, I've been using Ubuntu 10 (Linux). So I inserted my BT Infinity "Is your broadband light blue?" - I clicked 'Yes'. Then it searched for 'available connections'  - it came up with "You can connect to your hub using wireless or a wired ethernet connection, unfortunately we can't detect EITHER of these connection types on your computer"
I rang the BT help desk who got me to 'cmd - ping'. That was no good either.
The thing is - BT Infinity WIFI works perfectly well with the Ubuntu operating system - why not with Windows XP?
Oh - and Windows XP works perfectly on the (different) laptop I'm using now.
I don't want to return to Ubuntu as I prefer Windows.

To check its turned on it will be either a switch on the laptop or a key combination such as FnF3 or FnF9.
To check that your Network drivers are installed and that the wireless card and Ethernet controller are installed and working :
Go to START > Control Panel >  Device Manager > Network Adaptors. Click on this and it will open and show you what is installed and that the correct drivers are installed. There should be no yellow exclamation marks.
Once you have done that report back if there are any problems.
I would also uninstall the BT Helpdesk. It usually does everything except help.  To uninstall it follow this guide
Run the “Uninstall BT Broadband Desktop Help” option from the start menu.
    1. Follow the onscreen wizard through to completion.
Check the task manager (ctrl alt del -> task manager) and kill any of the following:
    BTHelpNotifer.exe
    McciTrayApp.exe
    McciServiceHost.exe
If you see McciCMService.exe, ‘stop’ this in Services (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services)
Open the Registry (Start -> Run -> Type “Regedit”) and delete the following directories:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Motive
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Motive
Clear the Internet Explorer Cache and Cookies (Within IE -> Internet Options -> Delete…)
Delete any leftover Program Folders from Windows Explorer (Windows Key + E):
    Windows XP
    C:\Program Files\BT Broadband Desktop Help
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Motive
    C:\ProgramData\Motive
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Roaming\Motive

  • New Infinity Installation

Got Infinity on order, read the stuff - confused!
My master socket comes into the house at the front door - no power socket near there.  I have four wired extensions, all hidden cabling, all near power sockets.  So - how do I get the new hub without any surface wiring if it has to be near the incoming master socket?
My current BT hub is in the bedroom (office!) and of course with BT Vision have the plug ins
Definitely no surface running of cables either for power or for extensions.  If we need to have the master socket next to the hub and power, then there may be a need for external cable runs and drill through walls to fit a new socket.  Any ideas? And will the engineer play ball?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

the engineer can change any socket to become the master for free ask them when they arrive remember you need two power sockets available one for the hub one for the modem

  • New Update Only Make Internet Connection Problem Worse?

Since getting this thing, I've had the same random internet drop issues alot of people have reported. It was annoying but not unbearable as drops only happened a couple of times a day. Yesterday I anxiously ran both the OS and Time Capsule updates hoping this lingering issue would have finally been addressed, instead those, I am now lucky to maintain net connection for more than 5 minute at a time. My modem (Moto 2210) lights are all as should be and show no status change when dropped, but the airport status has the time freeze and within a minute or two it renegotiates the connection and the cycle repeats.
I am so annoyed with this thing. I jumped from PC to Mac about 6 months ago because of the notion that Mac stuff "just works" and while my notebook has been bulletproof, the Time Capsule (dropped twice while typing this message) and AppleTV leave a great deal to be desired at this point.

The concept of Mac " JUST WORKS" is still very much true. As for Time Capsule. I think its something that Apple need to refine it. It is really making my hair white !!
But I still like it!! haha.. The idea, the concept and the look !! Apple just need to tweak its stability.

  • ITunes crashes my internet connection almost every time I launch it

    Hello,
since my last upgrading to iTunes 10.1.2, (I did not do it for a long while), I am experiencing severe disconnections from the internet. These disconnections do not usually occur at the moment of the lauching, but a little bit later, when I am looking for a specific tune. The application seems freeze during its searching, then I lose my internet connection. It becomes not possible to retrieve the connection once lost, apart from restarting the computer. It is extremely frustrating. This occurs 3 times out of 4... Are some people experiencing the same problems as me, and will the developers do something?
I am connected to a Neuf-SFR box router by the way of an Hercules Wifi key. I tried to remove the key and plug it again after the problem occurs, but nothing happened.

Just for info, I just discovered the long long thread about the blank page instead of the iTunes store screen (cf http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2743839&tstart=0 ): I had the same trouble, that was the reason why I decided to upgrade to the last release of itunes. The end being, that now the goody good screen appears like before, but that the new release cuts my internet connection a few time after I've launched it.

  • Internet connectivity impaired following spilt coffee incident

A week ago I had a liquid incident (coffee meets keyboard) with my MacBook Air. A visit to my local Mac repair shop determined that the mother-card had not been affected and by means of replacing the keyboard normal service was restored. Except for one thing - internet connectivity is now dreadful. I can't work out what the problem is.
Connectivity has not broken down completely. Often the Airport utility is able to find the router and sometimes it establishes an internet connection, though it works painfully slowly. It establishes a reasonable connection with the router at my local Mac repair shop. And yesterday, at my local library which provides a wifi link via a portal with which you have to register, I obtained a fast and efficient connection.
The problem cannot be with the router since there are two other Mac products in the house, my wife's MacBook Pro and my own very new iMac, and an internet connection is obtained on these with no problem at all.
The Airport utility device in the MacBook Air is the latest version (v. 6.3.5). I have updated the OS  from 10.10.2 to 10.10.3. The Network connection parameters are configured correctly. I'm at  a loss to understand why I'm not getting an efficient internet connection on this computer in my home (by contrast with my local library).
    Any suggestions?

  • New to networking . . . AEBS and slow internet connection

    Here's my set up:
    2 white 17" iMacs running MacOS 10.4.10. 1 15" Titanium Powerbook (2002) on 10.4.10 as well.
I have Verizon Wireless which originally was getting speeds of well over 10mbps. Verizon had us update software (bad move) and it dropped to b/t 750kbps and 1mbps. The router they gave us is a Westell 327W.
I got the AEBS (n version) yesterday and connected it to the router using the WAN port as directed. I also connected a printer to the USB slot. One iMac is connected to the AEBS using an ethernet cable. After the installation i found the internet connection to be painfully slow. Tests show a speed at no more than 256kbps! I am extremely upset and disappointed. I have not tried to file share yet and I don't believe I am having any interference problems. Are there any other possible solutions? Do I need a new router? I think I'm only paying for 1mbps so I'd be happy to get that speed. But as of now, downloads are not an option for me.
Please, anybody with some sage advice, it would be greatly appreciated if you could pass it along to a network newbie. Thanks in advance.

Well, I think I figured it out. I turned off my Westell router and unplugged it and left it overnight. Then plugged it in and turned it on in the Am. Came home form work and tested the speed . . . 1.5 - 3mbps! Wow! It really jumped over night. It's always the simplest things isn't it? Let's hope that's all!
