New Infinity Upgrade Connection - Again More Probl...

I regraded my ADSL2 to Infinity 80/20 (Busines) a couple of days go. Was estimated to get 56 download and 18 upload, so chose the Infinity 80dl/20ul. At installation we got 30mb download which was quite a way short of what we was expecting!!
Have had problems with it dropping out and demanding new usernames etc.
BT sent an engineer out yesterday to check it, but he admitted he was actually a telephony engineer and not broadband trained!!! GO FIGURE!
He was very nice and spent hours on it but couldnt offer much resolution.
At one point he spoke to technical dept, and they said it could be that the Business hub 3 may be incompatible!!!!! AGAIN-GO FIGURE!!
One curious thing is that it has period where it refuses to work, giving just 0.3 - 0.7mb speed!!, BUT, if you turn off the router, then reboot it................
run a speedtest when the Broadband light is still ORANGE, i get speeds of 50mb-80mb !!!!!!!
As soon as the broadband light turns from orange to blue, the speed hits a brick wall, drops to 15mb - 30mb!
Also i usually use a simple gigabit ethernet switch (8port) from the GigE socket of the Business hub 3, then plug the pcs etc into that and its always worked great, but since we went infinity you cant connect through the switch?

Have tried calling BT - WAITED 2hr 15min to be answered only for the lady to tell me that 30mb way the best id get, even though there own tests suggested 56mb, and i have had speedtests show 50-80mb, but only when the Broadband light is Orange!!
She basicaly said its better than what you had on ADSL and thats that!!
I pointed out that i had opted for a 80/20 Infinity, but if i was only going to get 30 then i should be on the 40/10, but she said i should change as it could effect my speed!!, even though she said the max i would get would be 30mb!, it makes no sense at all.
I also questioned the fact that the original engineer that intalled the infinity mentioned that it was on a '40mb bearer' or '40mb pair' or something like that. When i pointed out that i had gone for the 80mb not the 40mb, he just said that he only does what the laptop tells him, and i would have to ring up.
I called, they just said that ' you should be on a 80mb connection', i pointed out i knew full well that i had asked for an 80mb, and that i was paying for an 80mb connection, but could they tell me why the engineer said it was a 40mb, and can someone actually physically check it!
She didnt know!
I asked the engineer the same thing about if i was on a 40mb or 80mb connection, and he said it seems i could be on a 40, which would explain the much slower than expeted speeds, but he didnt know how to check it physically as he is not a broadband engineer!
ALL BT STAFF JUST KEEP SAYING THEY JUST DONT KNOW!, BUT TRY TO FOBB ME OFF BY SAYING, ITS MUCH BETTER THAN YOUR PREVIOUS ADSL
I think its all shocking, and im really considering cancelling the planned upgrades of the other 2 ADSL line to Infinity.

If your Mac and PC are connected by Ethernet, unplug and plug that cable again. If not, you have to turn off the MacBook by holding the Power button.
In the next startup, try to transfer your files again. It's important not to interrupt the transfer process, because in most cases, you will stop it and you won't be able to resume it

They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Getting your new Kindle to connect to HH4

Just thought I'd throw in some help for any frustrated folk out ther who can not get their shiny new Kindle to connect to their Home Hub.
I had a frustrating Saturday morning trying to get my new Kindle Paperwhite to connect . .
Oooh, it has WPS push button connection . . . so does HH4 . . . lets try it . . . nope!!
OK, let's enter the wireless pass key . . . . nope.
The Advanced menu . . nope. . . ended up sneding it back as their "help" line said so . .
I tried again today with the new one . . . same problem.
I rest the HH4 back to factory settings . . . hmm, worse as my old KIndle is now lost . .
Had to enter all the DNS/IP/router stuff by hand . .
I then wondered, surely you must beable to do this on the new Kindle?
It looks like a static "Advanced" page but carefull scrutiny will show you there is a small slider on the right hand side and so you can scroll down and find all the gaps to complete the set up by hand, tedious but it works - you may have to use another PC to find all the DNS/router IP/IP adresses but it does work . . .

At a guess you followed the process in HT1364 - iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder which would have moved the media folder to a new path of your choice. This process leaves the library database files back in the original location of <User's Music>\iTunes. Often people assume that all they need is now on the external drive and wipe the internal drive, or discard their old computer, before backing up the all important iTunes folder. If you have a backup of your user's profile folder from before the upgrade the iTunes library folder should be in there somewhere. Restore it to <User's Music> and your original library should pop back into existence. The external drive would need to have the same drive letter that it had previously.
A more effective way to relocate the library is to move the entire iTunes folder to the external drive, then hold down shift when starting iTunes and keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. You would then choose the file iTunes Library.itl in the iTunes folder on the external drive. If this is the way you moved the library before then that is how you should now reconnect to it. Changing the media folder in preferences doesn't change which .itl database file is opened, nor does double-clicking on an .itl file directly.
If you no longer have the original .itl file then you will have to build a new library and import the media to it. If you need to do this I would recommend you create a new library at F:\iTunes, then move your existing media folders inside F:\iTunes\iTunes Media before importing. This will avoid the creation of duplicates and make sure the library is in the correct shape going forwards.
If you have an iPod or iOS device my scripts ImportDevicePlaylists and SyncStats may well let you recover ratings, play counts & playlists from the device.
When you've fixed up your libray you should consider getting a second external drive to backup to.

I have a newer model HP Photosmart Plus (Print/Scan/Copy/Web)
Keep getting this error message. Have pressed Retry, have exited and tried again. No results. Have shut off/unplugged/restarted printer and computer several times, but this keeps popping up as soon as I press "Apps". All I can access is "quick forms", and they don't print correctly (layouts are strange). Anyone know how to fix this?

Ok so im due a new mobile upgrade...

im due a new mobile upgrade in my contract very soon and im looking around at phones to get. ive had a nokia for a very long time and just as an idea as to what i like here are the last ones i have had:

nokia 6233 (now)
they have all been similar phones but have got better obviously as they have been newer with better features etc. the operating system on each has been the same (s40) i think, and i love it and am very used to it now.
ive been looking at:

nokia 6500 classic
nokia 6500 slide
does anybody have any of these or have had any? i love my current phone, but its getting outdated and i might as well take a free new one. i want one very similar with the same battery live and detailed screen with a more up to date feel. anybody suggest any of the new nokias i should look into?

If you want something more up to date then maybe you'd consider switching to S60 instead of S40? There are a few things that were in S40 that are now missing in S60 (but can be added again with 3rd party software) but there are also things in S60 that weren't in S40, in particular the wide range of 3rd party software available.
You might want to look at these models:

N73
N82 (great camera)
These are all candybar phones like the ones you've had up until now. Clamshells and slidephones have their advantages too.

if the device I connected have caused this, shouldn't the macbook itself have some type of protection that should prevent this from happening.
because when I took it to an apple certified maintenance shop, the guy said that now it could only run while connected to the power. it won't run on batteries. and that I have to change the motherboard.
can I just replace the damaged part only, would apple consider this as a design issue and they could pay for it, or should I just buy a new motherboard for 800$.

The problem is in finding a tech shop that will/can do board level repairs on Macs. They are few. And I certainly wouldn't spend $800 on a new logic board - I would replace the computer if I had to pay that much!
You could call around to a few repair shops and see if they feel competent to isolate the problem and do a board level repair - but I'm afraid, in the end, that your search will be futile.

New Infinity 2 Customer

Hi.
I have had Infinity 2 connected since 10th May. I understand it takes 10 days for the connection speed to stabilize.
The system should try different speeds as it did when I first had fibre. Speeds were as high as 20Mbps before we had a consistant 15Mbps with TalkTalk.
I have been doing speed tests at http://internet-speedtest.net/ since the 10th and have had no change from 12Mbps.
Could the mods see if there is a problem.

now too me that sounds like something is wrong. i didnt take in to consideration about distance from cabinet as i have no idea how far that is but isnt that still very low for fibre. Because of his speeds, up and down, it would appear he is within the Range B line speeds.
if the customer is paying for infinity 2 and still getting quite low settings then (1) if he changed to infinity 1 would his speeds drop even lower. No. The line will deliver the maximum it can. If you are on Infinity 1 all that happens is a software cap is placed on the line to stop the speeds exceeding the maximum of 38Mbps that Infinity 1 delivers.

New Infinity and BT Vision problem solved - thanks...

Not a problem or a complaint this time, but a pat on the back for BT.
I received my new BT Infinity service today, the engineers were on time, professional and quick. After my Infinity service was active however I noticed I was getting a lot of V04 errors on BT Vision On Demand stuff. I checked the line speed, and all seemed to be great, I am getting over 42meg!! So why the V04?? I called BT support and spoke to a lovely lady who seemed to know exactly what I was talking about, and she had the problem sussed out and fixed in about two minutes.
It turns out the problem was due to a QoS setting on my profile. Over the last 18 months or so I had several times that my old ADSL broadband line speed would just dissappear to almost nothing, each time the BT support staff would push up the QoS in order to try and provide a good enough line speed for the BT vision to work. This setting was never fixed when my new Infinity connection was setup and it was causing problems, hence the V04. Problem appears to be fixed now, thanks for the quick resultion BT.

That said, the performance I was seeing even with the problem wasn't bad enough to stop streaming working.

I tried something new yesterday after reading all these messages. My ATV3 was situated on top of my satellite box and I noticed that it was quite warm. The instruction manual suggests that the box not go over a certain temperature, so I moved the box to a location without the heat under it. The other thing I notice is that when trying to connect to the VMM. It's trying to use domain\username, yet when I try logging in with domain\username via the SCVMM Console. I get the You cannot access VMM management server (Error ID: 1604).
I'm not sure if this is why I can not add the VMM to WAP. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello,
I am not sure about the answer but I guess these steps will solve your problem:
1) Log in to the SPF server by using an account that is a member of the SPF_Admin local group.
2) Open an elevated Windows PowerShell window.
3) Type the following commands, and press Enter after you type each command:
Import-module spfadmin
New-SCSPFTenant -Name Administrator -SubscriptionId 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
4) Close the WAP Server Management Portal, and then reconnect to it to update all items.
