New initscripts package and daemons [SOLVED]

Good Sunday to everyone: I've updated this morning my Arch, using pacman, and, apart from KDE SC 4.7, I found out a new initscripts package, initscripts 2011.07.3-1.
Ok, all done, the problem is that, every time I boot my system up, I get this error message about iptables and hal (dbus, to be more precise):
a daemon is starting another daemon. This is unlikely to work as intended
This is the relevant part of my /etc/rc.conf file:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng iptables hal sshd wicd mysqld clamav @spamd)
I have to say both iptables and hal work the right way, but it's true also that, before updating initscripts, no messages of this type had ever come out...
Any suggestions?

As someone already pointed out, the warning is new. However, the wrong behavior is not. So if everything worked fine before, it will continue to work ok.
The reason for the warning is that when a daemon starts another daemon we don't have any information about this dependency at shutdown, and they will likely be shut down in the wrong order. This caused problems for some packages. We have fixed most rc scripts to not do this any more, some still remain, but they are mostly going away anyway (like hal).

  • Bad error because of the new QT package

    Hi!
I installed the new qt package and wanted to update some packages from AUR after that. Unfortunately after starting the build it stops during configuration with the following message:
checking for KDE... libraries /opt/kde/lib, headers /opt/kde/include
checking if UIC has KDE plugins available... no
    configure: error:
you need to install kdelibs first.
If you did install kdelibs, then the Qt version that is picked up by
this configure is not the same version you used to compile kdelibs.
The Qt Plugin installed by kdelibs is *ONLY* loadable if it is the
_same Qt version_, compiled with the _same compiler_ and the same Qt
    configuration settings.
Maybe the maintainer can rebuild the kdelibs so compiling apps for KDE will be possible again.

I already wanted to compile kdelibs myselve using the PKGBUILD available in ABS. But to my surprise it stopped with an error, so it's impossible for me to compile it....
I'm wondering about that, since I always thought that everything from ABS will work, because the developers build the packages using the exact same PKGBUILDs.....
Anyway, I may downgrade again, when I found a server still having the old package...

  • Which Privilege needed to create a new Package and Stored procedure usage(in HANA studio)

    Hello Friends,
In my company I have access to SYSTEM user(i.e. having all required permissions) ,I wish to create new " USER(s) " for trainees thus which "System privilege" or other privileges is/are needed for the following requirements -
1>To allow the "new user" to create new Packages(and the columnar views inside it and be able to execute, edit them)
2>Create Procedures inside their schema and execute using  "call " command
I have given the following privileges as suggested by an ebook (SAP certified author).
The SELECT privilege on the _SYS_BI schema
The SELECT privilege on the _SYS_REPO schema
The EXECUTE privilege on the REPOSITORY_REST procedure
According to my knowledge "create schema" should be given for new schema creation. For my other requirements which all privileges are needed.
    Thanx.

In addition to Krishna if you don't want to expose all the package to the trainee, then create a new role keeping everything same as default MODELING role (open it and have a look) but in "PACKAGE PRIVILEGES" add only those package that you want to expose to the end users.

  • Creation of new package and request number.

    Hi frndz,
Hope everyone are doing fine. Coming to my query, its quite simple for you guys.
But me being new to BW, I would like to know how to create a new package and request number.
And I have a task to create a new IS and DS also. So do i need to create these new package and request number separately or at the time of creation of IS and DS.
    Please give me clear idea.
    Thanking you.
    regards
    Dubbu

    Hi Vinay,
I hope you are speaking about Package to collect Objects and collecting them in Transport Requests.
Usually you use the same packages for all the objects. According to requirement if you want to create the Package you can goto SE80--> There you can create a New Package. Give Transport layer as SAP. and Activate it. Then you collect the package in a Transport Request. You can create the request by the create button on the screen when it ask for Transport Request.
While creating the Infosource or other objects you mention the package which you have created while saving and you can use the existing TR or new TR for collecting them.
You can use RSA1---> Transport Connection to collect the objects easily to TR's

  • Use of "NEW FROM PACKAGE" in SAP 8.8 And Master Layout creation

    Dear Expert,
    A)
How to use "NEW FROM PACKAGE" option at time of choosing company.
and also how to create .pak file ???
Even I don't know by using this feature what are the scope.
    B)
How to create master layout in 8.8 when I am using crystal Report.
    Thanks
    King Kevin

    Hi Kevin.....
When you install SAP you have to install Solution Packager also. which will help you to create the .pkg file of your database which will then be used in New From Packager......
And for Master Layout you can import the PLDs as you created independent Via. Reports And Layout. It will ask you the path to store the PLDs. Give the relevant path and your Crystal Report will be executed......

I bought a new laptop and tried to reinstall Photoshop Elements 11. I saved saved the original packaging and all contents (or so I thought). I can't find the serial number anywhere. Any thoughts on what I can do?

If you originally registered your product the serial number will be stored in your Adobe account. Click the red logo (top left on this web page) sign-in, and then click the Manage Account button. It should be possible to browse your purchase history. You are looking for a 24 digit number commencing 1o57.

recently bought new macbook pro , transferred data over and thought microsoft office would work on new laptop. Icons are there , although requires key codes and I don't have my key codes anymore as dog chewed the packaging!! should i just buy new software package ?  I am told that this is a microsoft issue not a mac issue !! But all my other data on the old macbook pro transferred over even the icons for office for mac on the bottom app bar. only now I can't open any of my word or excel files without key code! I thought that there may have been something that could be done before having to bite the bullet and fork out for new software package.??

If this is Office for Mac 2011 then it will work on your new computer. Reinstall it. If you don't have the key code call Microsoft's activation line to get a new key code. Explain that you lost the original key code and want to install Office on your new computer.

Under the answer you want to mark as correct you should see a box that says Correct with a green symbol to the left and a box with Helpful with an orange star to the left. Click on the one you want.
And thanks for thinking about that, it is appreciated.

  • FB4: New package and new folder. What's the difference?

    Hi,
What's the difference between creating a new package and creating a new folder?
Both options seem the same to me.

Here is my understanding of it. Packages are for structured code repositories (ie. com.mysite.utils) and folders are for assets. I don't think the IDE really cares what you put in them but Packages are (to me) simply 'helpers'.

Without the serial number your FCE disc is useless and nobody here can help.
Your only chance, if you have the receipt or can prove your purchase is to contact Apple and hope they may be able to help.

The best audience for applets is people off the internet. 'People off the internet' might be using a computer that has no (what was it?) 'open.html' in the root of the C: drive. In fact (shock horror) they may not even be running Windows, and would therefore probably have no 'C:' drive at all.
If you do not intend to distribute this to people off the web, an application makes a lot more sense, but even then, you cannot rely on the document being there unless you 'put it there' (during installation, for instance).
As the other poster intimated, applets can load documents off the local disk as long as they are trusted. Here is an example*, but note that it is not so rash as to presume any particular path or file, and instead leaves it to the user to choose the document to display.
    * The short code can be seen at SDNShare on the [Defensive Loading of Trusted Applets|http://sdnshare.sun.com/view.jsp?id=2315] post.
On the other hand, a sandboxed applet can load any document coming from its own server via URL, or get showDocument(URL) to work. In that case, the JRE must recognize that the URL is from its own server, so the best way to form URLs for applet use is via the URL constructor
new URL(getDocumentBase(), "path/to/open.html");That is how I form the URL in this [ sandboxed example of formatting source|http://pscode.org/fmt/sbx.html?url=/jh%2FHelpSetter.java&col=2&fnt=2&tab=2&ln=0]. Of course, in this case the applet loads the document, then parses the text to draw the formatted version, but the point is that an URL produced this way will work with showDocument(URL).
I am pretty sure showDocument() in an applet off the internet will work with an URL pointing to a foreign (not its own) server, but it will not be able to load documents off the end user's local disks.
I suggest a couple of things.
    - Try to express this problem in terms of what feature it is that you want to offer the end user. Your question jumps directly to a bad strategy for achieving ..who knows what? An example of a feature is "Shows the applet 'help' files on pressing F1".
    - A good way to indicate interest in a solution is to offer [Duke stars|http://wikis.sun.com/display/SunForums/Duke+Stars+Program+Overview] to match that interest.
    Edit 1:
..and please figure out how to use the CODE tags.

  • Development objects save automatically with out  asking package and TR

    Hi Experts,
Development objects in R/3 dev server are saving automatically with out asking any package and TR .
May be the development objects are saving in local package.
How can we check in which package the objects are saving
Please guide me how to solve this issue.
    Thanks&Regards,
    narasimha.

    Howdy,
In that case check the Object Directory Entry to ensure that the objects are going to the correct package - you can also check Version Management to see which transport the objects are getting saved to.
if the objects are already locked on a transport, when you make changes it won't ask for a new transport.
Also try creating a new object and see if you get prompted for a transport then.
    Cheers
    Alex

  • From localtime to UTC on both Windows and Linux (Solved)

    Hi,
It has been a while since I updated my Archlinux. I read from the news corner that it is now strongly recommended to change from localtime to UTC (http://www.archlinux.org/news/initscripts-update-1/). Since I have a dual-boot system of Archlinux and Windows 7 RC I currently use localtime for both. From what I understand is that there is now a registry fix such that Windows will also use UTC. Now my question is: is there a recommended order in updating the two operating systems? My worry is that if I update one OS to UTC then the hardware clock is probably saved as UTC at shutdown. Then starting the other OS (which still assumes localtime) might cause troubles when it reads the hardware clock which is now in UTC.
At http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums … e90c6e243/ they recommend the following order:
1 - Apply the registry fix in Windows
2 - Shutdown Windows and start your alternate OS
3 - Set the time right
4 - Shutdown your alternate OS and boot Windows
5 - Sleep and resume from sleep Windows
I think step 5 is necessary, because Windows messes with the clock again after a resume from suspend/hibernation.
Secondly, at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Be … #Set_clock it is stated that you should also disable Windows from syncing the time with the Internet. Does this still apply?
I can remember that Windows once corrected for daylight saving by setting the clock one hour back. Rebooting to Archlinux afterwards caused various warnings (or errors) regarding time stamps being in the future. Waiting for one hour and then boot Archlinux 'solved' the problem. Still, I would like to prevent these things when I switch to UTC.
    Thoughts and recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I played on safe with this issue:
    1. Stop Windows from syncing its time with the Internet.
    2. Apply the registry fix in Windows
    3. Reboot to Windows to be sure everything applied well
    4. Assuming the time skew between localtime and UTC can't be more than 24 hours I decided to wait for roughly 24 hours to boot Archlinux (yes.. some people still have that luxury)
    5. Apply UTC to Archlinux
For now, everything is running well
