New install Express on Win 8 can see the Server name but cannot see the instance

I am doing this over the phone with a client who is not sure what he is doing we have installed Ok the folders exist and we have enabled TCP/IP
The instance is MSSQLServer when we try to connect all we get is 'ComputerName' I am expecting 'ComputerName \MSSQLServer'
The user does not have administrator rights and he installed SQL Server without the administrator (I think, I am not sure he knows)
I am looking for clues as to what may cause the instance name to not appear

Could you please verify that if the instance name is not listed in “Server name” drop-down list of SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)? If so, does the instance list in the Local Servers tab in the “Browse for Servers” dialog?
If you cannot see the express instance in the Local Servers tab in the “Browse for Servers” dialog, the reason may due to SQL Server cannot get the appropriate registry entry information in the System Registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft
SQL Server\Instance Names).
To work around this issue, you can manually input the instance name which will be show in the Local Servers tab. Also make sure that right click on SSMS and then choose “Run As Administrator” to start it.
However, if the express instance is listed in the Local Servers tab in the “Browse for Servers” dialog, but not in the “Server name” drop-down list. Then if you have never connected with the instance name before, its entry will not listed in the drop-downlist.
Or if you have connected to server with a wrong instance name, you cannot see its entry the next time.

I recently encountered a problem with both my account, for some reason it wouldn't accept my new password. And this was about the fith time I'd had to change it! I even wrote it down to ensure I wasn't mistyping it. But for some reaon it wasn't letting me log in form my phone or from my ipad. So I tried to reset it once again. However when I visited the website and searched for my username, it came back saying my 'account name doesn't exist!' I tried again and again but nothing. I thought maybe it would fix itself if I created a new account with the same details, so I did. But now none of my past purchases or my wishlist are showing up - and all my details are exactly the same! I've tried logging in using the old passwrd for my 'other' account but it's not working. And I tried searching for it again to reset the passwrod but it only resets this NEW account.
I tried sending a request for help, but I need someone with more authority to talk to.
Please help!

There is no one with more authority than iTunes store support. We herem are only users.

Good point BDAqua, the Escape key helps get me back to reality in Lion.
While I've only dabbled around a little in Lion since it's release (I upgraded a 10.6 Clone to Lion on one of my FireWire Drives) now I'm currently downloading Mountain Lion (to upgrade a Clone of that Lion Clone) so that now I can continue to move forward in madness.

It didn't show up in my music app for several hours. Don't know why... But it's there.
I can now access and add stations through the iTunes Store to play through music app icon.

I want to put my albumns under the bands name but still keep the albumn in their original covers

I want to put my Albums under the groups name, but still have the albums cover showing which would allow me to click on the cover to play that albums songs, but when looking at it on my devices I would see that there is the group I'm looking for and under it there is the albums belonging to that group.

dj_paige - I appreciate your concerns for lost data or extra work - but reality is the files I am looking to move aren't very likely to ever be needed again. It's 1,000s and 1,000's of pictures of "other peoples kids" from 9 years of High school soccer, 4 years of College hockey and 11 years of club soccer. Obviously I am keeping the images featuring my own children or their close friends. I really just didn't want to clog up my new PC or waste space on my external drives (i have 4 totaling about 9 terabytes of storage)
My plan is to extract these unneeded pics to one of my older external drives - which will be dedicated as "archive" so I will always know where they are...save the metadata as suggested, and then delete then from the existing catalog so I can cut it down to size. It took 8 hours to do a full catalog back up of my PSE 11 catalog......only a little over 3 for my PSE12 - where I was much more disciplined in my "star" maintenance and deleted sub standards shots much more religiously!

I just installed the Airport utility but cannot see it on my iPad.

I have looked in every folder, restarted my iPad but I cannot find it. The App store shows the app is installed.

You can do a search for it on the iPad - at least when you find it - you can set it up and use it until you locate the icon.
Swipe to the right from the home screen and the search feature appears. Type the name of the app in the text field at the top and then tap on the app icon when it shows up to launch the app.
You can connect your iPad to your computer, launch iTunes, select your iPad on the left side and then click on the apps tab and look at all of the screens on the iPad in there - maybe it is on another screen that is beyond what you can get to by swiping.
You restarted but you could also try resetting the iPad and see if the app shows up.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

IPhoto 7.1.3: Can view and enlarge photos but cannot see them in edit mode

When selecting and attempting to edit photos, the photo does not appear in the "edit" window below the thumbnails. This "edit" window remains blank. Edit functions appear operable but I cannot see what is happening to the photo until the edit has been made and shows up in the thumbnails. Anyone have a similar issue or suggestion?

The procedure for creating and populating a new library:
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
If the problem is persisting into a new library - how big is your HD and how much free space on it?

After cleaning up a virus; some webpages do not seem to load properly...I can see parts of them but cannot see all or I cannot use search ordropdown menus.

This virus infected my computer: win32/fakesysdef
I managed to clean it up and retrieve my files etc.However now when attempting to browse online some pages do not open properly or allow me to uses certain features. Such as dropdown menus etc. I use Brighthouse for my connection. Also on Roadrunner email I cannot delete any messages; however gmail functions properly.I do realize that this may not be a problem with Firefox but I must attempt to find all info possible.

We usually advice first to Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache in case of such problem and then do a check for extensions to see if any are causing the problem.
* Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
* Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
* Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Do you have experience that you can connect to the cRIO-9104 but cannot donwload the program to the RT engine and FPGA?

I can connect the cRIO-9104, I view it in MAX can it shows the cRIO-9104 is connected, but when I open the LabVIEW and want to download the program to the RT engine, it shows "Wait the RT egine to resopnse" and it shows fail to connect the cRIO-9104 later.
May you give me some guidelines on how to deal with it? Should I try rebooting the cRIO-9104 in the MAX?

With reference to MAX try to transfer a file from your pc to your controller. What appears as a tolerant program (MAX) might actually reveal that it isn't.
Also
If you don't update (F5) the Max menu then it recalls a previous set up!!
Regarding the wireless router, I suspect that MAX has a lower default baud rate than Labview, so downgrading LV to 9600bps could actually increase the range ( if required)
has the 9104 controller a RS232 connection? If so then run Hyper terminal and connect to the controller. Reseting the controller ( reset button) should then reboot the system , Hyper terminal program would then reveal what applications programs are loaded on the controller(9104)

IMac applications see my iPhone 5s but cannot display the photos. Last week I was using Image Capture with no problem.

I have an iMac 10.8.4 and an iPhone 5s. I recently downloaded 110 photos and 10 very short videos using Image Capture v.6.2. I plugged the phone into the iMac, all of the photos appeared in Image Capture, I selected all and sent them along to a folder on an external hd.
However, this week, attempting the same procedure, I get nothing. Image Capture sees my phone but does not display any photos, just a big blank window. Same response from iPhoto, Aperture, and Lightroom; they all recognize the phone but none of the photos appear. Insight would be appreciated! Thanks.

I open my e-mail address gerogesharon9999. The site open but the normal window is not displayed. On the right side is in-box. trash, etc. I click on the open in-box and nothing happens. I cannot access anything when this opens.

I go to Dropbox and press download I get the download icon but cannot find the picture on my iPad can anybody HELP !!!!!

OK, but how are the pictures being sent to you?
If you using DropBox, tap on the photo in order to open it on the right, and then tap the share icon in the upper right corner. From there you can Save the Image which will transfer it to the Photos app, or you can tap the Open In icon and select any compatible app in which to open and save the photos.
If the photos are being emailed it is basically the same thing. Tap and hold down on it and select Quick Look to open it, tap the Share icon, etc, etc.

Trying to install and configure RRAS in WIndows 2012 Server R2 but cannot

I just installed Windows Server 2012 R2 standard and trying to install RRAS.
Following these steps:
To install RRAS
Perform one of the following two steps to start the Add Roles Wizard:
Start Server Manager. In the main window, under Roles Summary, click
Add roles.
In the Initial Configuration Tasks window that appears when you first log on, under
Customize This Server, click Add roles.
On the Before You Begin page, click Next.
Note
This page does not appear if you previously selected Skip this page by default.
On the Select Server Roles page, select Network Policy and Access Services, and then click
Next twice.
On the Select Role Services page, select Routing and Remote Access Services.
Once I get to step 4 I do not see Routing and Remote Access listed under role services. Any idea why this is?

Flash plays the ad video, but cannot make the switch to the main video.

Flash plays the advertisement video that runs prior to the main video, but then always displays "We're sorry, an unexpected error has occurred. Please try again or select a different video." when it should automatically switch to playing the main video - IE8 has no problem seamlessly switching from playing the ad video to playing the main video. This is a consistent problem across various websites with ads playing before videos.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

You can check if the "maxversion" attribute of "product" tag is set in MXI file of the extension( For ZXP file, extract it with 7-Zip or other tools, and open MXI file with text editor ). This is the maximum version of the product that this extension can be used. For example, if this attribute is set to "7.5" in an InDesign extension, this extension can be installed in InDesign 7.5( CS5.5 ) or earlier versions, but not in InDesign 8.0( CS6 family ). As a result, you cannot install it by Extension Manager CS6.

You need to restore the pre-upgrade backup of the library file in the manner shown in Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.
