New Install Sound-card Problems

Hello all, trying out Arch Linux and everything else works for the most part, but it seems I may have messed up an option while configuring ASLA.
My laptop is a MSI CR650-016US if it helps knowing the model.
Description of problem: At the beginning of configuring the audio I had 2 options for sound cards, but now I'm missing the one that had the most option bars (master, headphone, etc.) which happens to be my analog one. It came back while the writing of this post, but it seems to have gone back to the way it was before. I try to change the volume via alsamixer, but I just get the HDMI output which doesn't output via my speakers.
I have tried editing rc.conf, modprobe.conf, and asound.conf.
If I need to post some other outputs from the terminal please post and I'll do it. Any help would be appreciated, since I'd like to get some sound on my build. Thanks.

  • Help!!! Installed Sound Card driver does not support Direct Sound input

I have just installed Premier Pro CS3 on a brand new PC. I am a new user and I am receiving a message "The installed sound card driver does not support direct sound input".
PC is a 3 GHZ Intel Duo
    4 G RAM
    2 x 500 G HD
    Windows Home Vista Preminum
I am sure it is a simple fix and really appreciate any one given me the time or guidance to help get me started.
    Many Thanks

Thanks Harm for the prompt reply, nice one!
Sound Card is a "Realtek High Definition Audio"
    Driver Version 6.0.1.5408
It was shipped with this Dell PC.
I checked the driver was up to date etc. So not sure what to do now.

  • Audigy 2 sound card problems

I am hoping that someone out there can help me in a crucial situation.
I am using an Audigy 2 sound card with creative 5. speakers.
I also use Adobe Audition to edit, record sessions for my voice-over jobs.
Recently, I attempted to hook up a web cam so that I could see my grand daughter on the west coast.
After hooking up the web cam, I noticed my home studio environment changed drastically. I began having trouble with recording using my microphone through my Macki mixer. I began hearing a continuous hiss that I had never experienced before.
In fact after uninstalling the web cam, and restarting my computer, I got that horrible blue screen on my computer indicating the world was about to end! Smile
Long story short, I was able to finally get my computer back up, but I continue to experience problems recording "clean' audio".
Three things, after reinstalling Creative from disc several times and restarting my computer I receive a window stating Creative Media Source Detector.....Unable to load needed components....Please reinstall the application"
Also, when trying to test my sound hardware I get a message stating...Direct play voice setup..."an error occurred during direct play voice setup....error code 0x80004005
Last but not least I cannot access the "Creative diagnostic feature on my computer. I only get a small window for this feature that will not open up fully and allow me to run a diagnostic test!
I know this is a lot to absorb, but I cannot get anyone from Creative to address my problems because I am out of warranty and therefore not getting any love from this company.
Need your advice and or guidance on this.
    Please respond when time allows.
    Vopro

Re: Audigy 2 sound card problems? use add/remove programs and remove all creative software and drivers, then do the same for your web cam and unplug it
    restart your pc
download and install [url="http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver-Sweeper-%28Setup%29-download-655.html" rel="nofollow">driver sweeper[/url] and use it to clean up any left over creative bits and bobs and restart your pc when it asks you to
now download and install the [url="http://support.creative.com/Products/product_list.aspx?catID=&CatName=Sound+Blaster" rel="nofollow">latest audigy drivers[/url]
once your back in to windows try recording something and see if everything's back to normal
now reinstalling your web cam but don't reinstall using the cd that came with it
find the manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers
install cd's best avoided simply because the software and drivers they contain are typically the initial release versions, and so potentially very old
and i think we can all agree that old, buggy drivers can be a real pain

  • Sound card problem - This device cannot start. (Code

    hi all,
    here's my situation...
i had a dell dimension 4400 that came with a sound blaster li've! value(wdm) sound card. i recently got a new motherboard/case etc. i transferred the sound card to my new system and i get a "This device cannot start. (Code 0)" error when i check device manager. for some reason, the game port on the sound card is working fine, but the audio processor part has the error. windows recognizes the card, but it won't use it. the card is a little over 3 years old.
now, i've read the forums, tried a clean install, registry tweaks, changed bios settings, even did a hd format. i also tried different pci slots. i have sp2 and all my other drivers are updated.
the new motherboard i have is a gigabyte 8ipe000g. i already contacted gigabyte, did not get much help. it has onboard ac97 audio. i disabled the onboard audio, but it did not seem to change anything. i have also tried windows drivers, the dell drivers from the cd, and the drivers from the creative website. none of them changed anything. i am now having trouble removing the drivers from add/remove programs. i keep removing them, but they still remain, even after using the wdm driver remover from the cd (a file named ctapxx.exe, or something similar). it's almost like windows is not actually installing the drivers when i install them. i'm wondering if the code 0 error is specifically driver related.
the first time i disabled the onboard audio and updated the drivers a weird thing happened. every time i started the computer up it would crash when it got to the desktop. it no longer does this for some reason, everything now starts up, but i have no audio. the sound card is the only device giving me problems on my system.
is there anything else i need plugged into the sound card? all i have is the sound card plugged into the pci slot, and an audio cord going from the card to my dvd dri've. is there anything that is supposed to go from the card directly to the motherboard? as far as i can tell, i have everything hooked up correctly. i don't understand why the game port works, but not the audio processor.
so, i have basically tried everything. seems like quite a few people get code 0 errors with some sort of hardware they have, but it usually seems like there is no definite solution.
does anyone have a similar problem, or a solution? hopefully i don't have to get a new sound card. i would just stick with my onboard audio, but i hear it can cause problems with games.

Since you have a new board it maybe a bios setting.
Is there IRQ conflict from the soundcard.
Maybe remove the card and unistall the software, use a tool "driver cleaner pro" to remove all creative files.
Check your mainboard manual on what pci slot that dont share, i hear slot 3 is the one to use, i use slot 5.
    Fit the card and reinstall.
    Best of luck.

  • [SOLVED] USB sound card problems and audio setup

I want to clarify and correctly set up my ThinkPad T61 sound system finally.
    I'm running Arch64 + KDE.
There are two sound cards - the internal HDA Intel and external USB CM118.
    aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Set [C-Media USB Headphone Set], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog]
    Subdevices: 0/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: AD198x Digital [AD198x Digital]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
First of all, why are there both analog and digital subdevices?
I just need playback and/or recording support for these applications: opera, firefox, skype, clementine, mplayer, vmplayer. As high quality as possible.
Per-application sound control would be nice but if that adds too much clutter, I could live without it. No need for audio streaming or any other luxuries.
All the applications should use the USB card whenever it's plugged in. The internal SC should take over when CM118 is unplugged.
The problem is that most of the time it doesn't work. For example, if I plug out the USB card and then run some application like Clementine or Firefox there would be no sound ("connection refused" in Clementine).
    Here is my asound.conf:
    defaults.pcm.card 0
    defaults.pcm.device 0
    defaults.ctl.card 0
Also kMix/amix should switch the master channel from HDA Intel Master to C-Media Master automatically. The only way to do this is to write some kind of script, right?
AFAIK the following audio components are installed: ALSA, OSS (for some unknown reason), Phonon, Gstreamer.
I guess I can uninstall OSS without worries as no one seems to need it (checked with "whoneeds").
What about that Phonon? Would it override the asoud.conf if I set default device there? Why there are so many different devices in the Phonon configuration list:
C-Media USB Headphone Set, USB Audio (Default Audio Device)
C-Media USB Headphone Set (USB Audio)
C-Media USB Headphone Set, USB Audio (IECblablabla)
    hw:1,0
    hw:1,1
    default
    Intel Analog
    Intel Digital
    blablalba
And that C-Media triplet for every USB port the CM118 has been plugged in.
Too much confusion! All that mess for just two different cards.
So what is the proper way of setting primary and secondary sound cards in this situation?
    Thank you!

I am sorry for my very late response and the lack of structure in my post.
I did some investigation and found a rather acceptable workaround for one of my problems described below.
Here is the basic functionality I need:
    1. Automatic (on the fly) switching to the external sound card when it's plugged in and automatic fallback to the integrated SC when usb is unplugged.
    2. Automatic (on the fly) switching of the kMix's master channel according to the changes mentioned above.
As for the first problem, I found this udev rule:
    KERNEL=="pcmC[D0-9cp]*", ACTION=="add", PROGRAM="/bin/sh -c 'K=%k; K=$${K#pcmC}; K=$${K%%D*}; echo defaults.ctl.card $$K > /etc/asound.conf; echo defaults.pcm.card $$K >>/etc/asound.conf"
    KERNEL=="pcmC[D0-9cp]*", ACTION=="remove", PROGRAM="/bin/sh -c 'echo defaults.ctl.card 0 > /etc/asound.conf; echo defaults.pcm.card 0 >>/etc/asound.conf'"
This solution has some disadvantages but it is acceptible. If you know of any better solution, please tell me.
For the second problem, I found this script which uses qdbus org.kde.kmix /Mixers org.kde.KMix.MixSet.setCurrentMaster method to set the master channel. However, I think that constant monitoring for the usb SC being plugged is not very effective. So I thought appending the following code to the second line of the previous udev rule would do the work:
    , RUN+="/usr/bin/qdbus org.kde.kmix /Mixers org.kde.KMix.MixSet.setCurrentMaster "ALSA::C-Media_USB_Headphone_Set:1" "Speaker:0""
But that results in some weird behaviour: master channel stays the same but there would be three new tabs in the kMix window now: USB Set", USB Set# and USB Set$.
Here's what log messages tell us:
    07/14/12 12:25:13 PM localhost kernel [10889.749048] usb 3-1: new full-speed USB device number 13 using uhci_hcd

07/14/12 12:25:14 PM localhost mtp-probe bus: 3, device: 13 was not an MTP device
You see, the probe thing is running multiple times!
And here is an excerpt from udev debugger:
    starting '/usr/bin/qdbus org.kde.kmix /Mixers org.kde.KMix.MixSet.setCurrentMaster '
    '/usr/bin/qdbus org.kde.kmix /Mixers org.kde.KMix.MixSet.setCurrentMaster '(err) 'Could not connect to D-Bus server: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NotSupported: Unable to autolaunch a dbus-daemon without a $DISPLAY for X11'
    '/usr/bin/qdbus org.kde.kmix /Mixers org.kde.KMix.MixSet.setCurrentMaster ' [2769] exit with return code 1
Some kind of X11 problem... And also happening twice! Why?
Running the setCurrentMaster method in terminal works very nicely, so the problem must be the way udev runs it.
One last thing - sometimes the usb SC automatically reconnects (disconnects and connects). I read somewhere that most probably the usb device makes the trouble, but maybe there are other possiblities?

  • PCI Sound Card Problems in MEGA PC

Added a new Sound Blaster Live 5.1 card in my PCI slot. I use a special audio program that creates 2 stereo outputs from that card.
I've had this card in my older PC and it works fine. When installed in MEGA PC PCI Slot one of the outputs has a low volume and the other is normal. Why?
I tried to use the stereo outs of the integrated sound card with my programand got the same problem. One stereo out has a much lower volume than the other.
I using Win 98SE/and Sound Blaster Live 5.1. I hope I can get some help or I plan on returning this unit to my local retailer.

Thanks for responding. I did try disabling the onboard sound via the BIOS. No change to the problem.
Even the onboard sound card has this problem when trying to use 2 stereo outs. I found I could balance the outputs by using the AV Rack application. You use it to control the volumes on each output channel. The problem is I can only decrease th louder channel's volume I can't increase the volume on the other and this is what I need to do.

  • Sound Card Problem, or Driver Problem? Games crash, when they didn't befo

Not sure what the problem is, but seems to be a sound problem of some sort. I have just re-installed Vista 64. And now when I try to play BF242, the game crashes before I even see any kind of gameplay. It also instantly crashes when I click on the audio options tab. I have installed the latest drivers from the site. I have even uninstalled them, and launched the game without any drivers, and the game runs perfectly fine, but only without sound.
But I've been able to play BF242 before, but it would evenutally crash after a while, but at least I was able to get into the game. So knowing that Ive been able to play before, and it played without any drivers, I dug up some drivers that I know I had working at one point when the game was playing. And it still crashes before it gets into the game.
So this makes me wonder, is this really a driver problem or a soundcard problem?
All sounds are perfectly fine elsware, music, movies, OS tones, web, etc. Crysis runs perfectly fine. Company of Heros Crashes, Quake Wars crashed about 0 mins into a game. Team Fortress 2 runs perfectly fine. Battlefield 2 instantly crashes.
    Here's my specs:
    Vista 64 Ultimate
    Asus P5W DH Deluxe
    Asus nVidia 8800 GTX
    4gig Corsair XMS2 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel
Powersupply Antec True Power Trio TP3-550 550W ATX2V Power Supply with Three 2V Rails
Sound Blaster x-fi fatality (whatever the one that comes with the front computer interface)
Any help would be great. I'd hate to go buy a new sound card just to try it, unless I had a pretty good idea that it was the issue.

I think I found the problem. It was the physical card itself. I pulled my old Audialogy card out of my old machine, and swapped it. Now BF242 runs.
And mine never went to a black screen, and had to hard reset. It just dumped right to the desktop with a message "bf242.exe has stopped working."

  • DC7700 can't detect and install sound card after update to Windows 7

I've been trying to get the sound on my HP DC7700 Ultra Slim desktops to work for a few months now (I'm a teacher at a high school, so I have about 100+ of them to take care of). I've upgraded them from XP to Windows 7, and the computers no longer recognize the sound card.
I have tried installing the Realtek driver from their site and HP's, I've tried updating the UAA architecture as suggested in other posts here and here.
In device manager, all hardware has been detected and correct drivers have been installed, including PCI and chipset drivers.
Randomly, ONE DC7700 with a unique hard drive worked. I painstakingly checked every single driver installed and found the two that were different:
"Realtek High Definition Audio" under "Sound, video and game controllers"
"High Definition Audio Controller" under "System devices"
Pictures of the driver details for both are posted below.
I am completely at a loss as to how to accomplish this successfully, and I appreciate any help. Our school is depressingly poor, and without sound videos are completely useless to them.
Thank you in advance for your time,
    Kris Brackebusch

    Hi, Kris:
Try reinstalling W7 on one of them that doesn't have audio.
On that model, W7 should be installing a generic HD audio driver that works and then you can install the Realtek HD audio driver either from the dc7700 support page or the latest one from Realtek.
You do not need the MS UAA Bus driver, because that is only for XP.
UAA is included native to Vista and newer versions of Windows.
I do not recommend you install it in an effort to resolve the issue.
I have worked on dc7600's dc7700's and the newer Elite 8xxx models, which all have the Realtek HD audio chip.
Never had a problem getting the sound to work right from the upgrade.
The HD audio is the driver that Windows installs natively.

Hi.  I had been using Core Center with Dynamic Overclocking enabled and all was well.  When idle, my amd64 3000+ (2.0ghz), was running at 800mhz.  Under load it would go up to 2100mhz.  But yesterday, I installed an Auzentech x-plosion sound card and after i installed the driver, the dynamic overclocking stopped working, my cpu is running at max all the time.  (The variable fan speed function still works).
I checked the IRQ and there is no conflict, I uninstalled the amd64 driver and core center and reinstalled.  Still does not work.  I uninstalled the auzentech driver, rebooted, and cancelled new hardware wizard.  Then the variable cpu frequency feature worked.  Once I install the driver for the auzentech, dynamic oc stops working.  I was thinking to try another pci slot but it appears to be a software issue rather than a hardware issue.  The new version of Core Center does not work with my board even though msi says it's compatible so I'm still using the one that always worked.  The amd driver is the latest and also always worked.
Has anyone else had a similar problem, perhaps using the auzentech sound card with this board and Core Center?  Or does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Hey guys, I just went to AMDs site to get the dashboard utility mentioned and in the readme, it stated that in XP, the power option needs to be set to portable/laptop.  But in the past, I read that it needed to be set to "always on" and that it is, in fact, what I had it set to before when cool n quiet was working.  Now I change it to "portable/laptop" and it works and set to "always on" doesn't work anymore.  So now Core Center reports I'm at 33c @800mhz at no load.   I don't get it???  I'll have to try an alternate utility just to verify that is indeed working.
btw, QV, I checked system properties, (right-click my computer > properties, or "system" in control panel) and on the "general" tab, it indicates an AMD64 3000+, 2.0GHz.  But I'm pretty certain the clock frequency is dropping now as reported by core center because of the decrease in the cpu temp at idle.  Am I looking in the right place in XP?  I have XP pro, SP2
Again, thanks for the input and Happy New Year

  • Windows 7 64 bit Sound Card Problem

In January 2009, we had a 64 bit operating system problem http://forums.adobe.com/message/1015026#1015026. Our software, which was published using Version 6.5, was freezing on a customer’s computer on playing the first sound file, then if the sound file was by-passed, on displaying the first swf. The problem was eventually resolved by Mike Baker publishing our a6p file in Authorware 7, and this cured the fault. So we upgraded to Authorware 7.02 and since then no further problems ... until December 2010.
We launched our Italian Course late November and had a not dissimilar sort of problem reported by a customer. He's tried uninstalling & re-installing the software but the fault keeps re-occurring. The computer displays a "not responding" message. Debugging, we discovered that the message appears when trying to play the initial mp3 file (fixed bit rate) … the program does eventually continue but without playing the sound file. It then keeps hanging (there are thousands of sound files in our course), and none of the sound files play: text & pictures are displaying normally. Eventually the program freezes and has to be killed with ctrl+alt+delete.
The computer in question is a Dell Inspiron 580s, & the operating system Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I’m awaiting details of the sound card & confirmation that his drivers are up-to-date but I presume they will be (Windows 7 default is to keep drivers updated). I haven’t got the customer to carry out basic tests sound file tests yet, but he indicates no problems with Media Player or with iTunes.
Extras in our XTRAS folder include:-
    AWMP3.X32
    MIX32.X32
    MIXVIEW.X32
    NETFILE.X32
    SWADCMPR.X32
    VIEWSVC.X32
    INETURL.X32
    FLASHASSET/FLASHAST.X32
The database for our Italian course is now in ProgramData. (previous courses, database was in Program Files and run in XP compatible mode). We’re having problems with this location with Windows 7 64 bit … it is maintaining a copy in Virtual Store and updating the file there. No such problem with XP, Vista or Windows 7 32 bit. I see this as an unrelated problem. We got the customer to run the software in XP mode but the problem was not corrected.
We do have customers successfully running our software on Windows 7 64 bit operating system computers; we had a minor ODBC glitch reported recently from a 64 bit user.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Tom,
I concur with Steve that this is probably system-specific. A couple of things you may want to try:
    1. Be sure you're using the Xtras that came with Authorware 7.02 and not 6.5. For example, I believe mixview.x32 and viewsvc.x32 were updated in Authorware 7.
    2. Try making a little AW program with 4 or 5 buttons that each trigger an imported MP3 file, where each audio file has different output settings (e.g. mono vs stereo, 64kbps vs. 92 kbps, etc.). Package it up and send it to the Dell user to test it. You may stumble upon an audio output setting that works on that particular machine.

  • XP Pro, Service Packs 1,2,3, and sound card problems

I recently purchased a white macbook. So far it has been a very good experience, however I am having some trouble with XP Pro and its service packs. I've installed XP and it works fine for the most part however the sound card does not work. I tried to install the sound card drivers but they did not work. My questions are:
    - Do I need to install service pack 1 seperately or does it install with XP?
    - Can I only use service pack 2 for the drivers to work or can I use service pack 3 as well?
    - When I try to install service pack 2, it says that i require 4 more megabytes, I free space, however it still states the same thing, how do I resolve this?

Hi all and welcome to Discussions,
the 4MB error has amde its return with the Service Pack 3, so maybe these insructions can help you:
    1. Click Start - Run - Type “regedit” and press enter.
    2. Navigate to
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE
    \Software
    \Microsoft
    \Windows
    \CurrentVersion
    \Setup
    3. In the right pane, Right-click and select New - String value
    4. Name it as “BootDir” and set its value to “C:\”
XP with Service Pack 2 was always a neecessity with BootCamp.
Microsoft has add some with the SP2 that are needed for BootCamp to work.
For older (pre-SP2 XP-CDs) you can use these instructions http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp to make yourself a XP SP2 installation CD.
Works with SP3 as well, but to my knowledge you must have a XP SP1 CD for start.

  • Boot camp "sound card" problem

Oh goodness. I seem to be one of many that is experiencing problems with the sound card in boot camp. Hopefully someone can help my situation.
I have set up the boot camp partition and installed Windows XP...and am using VMWare. Everything seems to be running smoothly in the partition except for the sound card. I work in special education and have a program called "Writing With Symbols" that is only made for Windows. When I try to run the program, a box appears stating "Error selecting a TTS engine (No sound card?) app will terminate" and then the "lovely" little error report box comes up. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, I would greatly appreciate the information!!
    Thank you!!

I have updated with the OSX 10.5 disc and updated the drivers. I have done several internet searches that included information about text-to-speech to possible problems running WWS2000. I followed the directions for how to install the program when using it in a bootcamp partition on a Mac but the same problems kept occurring. I have googled the error box message that comes up and followed the directions for the two possible solutions that were listed on the product support page. At this point I am not sure what else to do.

  • External Sound Card Problems

I've been enjoying my HP dv7-1025nr for the past few months with no problems.  I recently decided to get into home audio recording and purchased an M-audio profire 2626 external sound card which connects through firewire.  I've yet to get any sound from my computer through the device.  I have downloaded and installed all the latest drivers several times (both for the profire and every other device on my computer).  I've also updated the flash bios for my hp (which i'm still trying to figure out why there's no "advanced" tab in the menu...other users have resolved irq issues this way and it's not even an option for me).  I have reinstalled my OS (several times).  The M-audio tech support suggested purchasing a dedicated firewire card with a TI chipset to solve previous connectivity issues, so I got a Siig 2-port ExpressCard.  My current problem is that even with the profire set as my default playback device, there seems to be a problem where windows is unable to send it any sounds.  If I try to use itunes or windows media player, the timer won't even start when i press play.  Everything works perfectly when i change the windows default playback device to anything else (laptop speakers, spdif out or nvidia hdmi out).  I'm confident that everything on the profire's end is working correctly and there must be some form of harware or software conflict (windows services or otherwise).  Device manager doesn't show and irq conflicts but i'm wondering if there could still be one.  Windows is recognizing the device and the m-audio control utility is working.  The profire also works perfectly through my other computer (a gateway laptop running xp).  I have spent 2 weeks trouble shooting this problem and have come to the conclusion it cannot be fixed through normal trobleshooting means.  I need a programmer to help me out with this one.  Please help.

  • MIDI - problems with output sound / sound card problem?

Hi. Not sure if this is the right place to put this question, but anyway:
I bought the notation program Sibelius 4, which allows you to write notation and play it back with MIDI. With it comes a software program (Kontakt Silver) that you can use to playback the MIDI.
So, in choosing playback devices, I can choose between Kontakt Silver and "DLS Music Device", which was on the Mac from before, I'm guessing it's the sound card that comes with the PowerBook G4.
The problem is that playback is a bit out of sync, and in addition it produces a strange "screeching" sound that's not supposed to be there. It sounds as if the sound produced is echoed and filtered. This is very annoying and makes Sibelius useless for me.
The problem is the same if I choose to use Kontakt Silver as the playback device as if i choose DLS Music Device.
I have 15 GB free space on the harddisk and between 150-300 MB free RAM when using Sibelius (the memory is 1 GB DDR SDRAM). A 1.67 GHz G4 processor. So I don't think my computer is the problem.
All other sound is good on the Mac, I can play mp3s, wavs and aifs without problem. Sibelius is the only program I have that can play MIDI-files (I think).
So what might be the problem? Is there a driver I can download, is my soundcard broken? I need help. Thanks.

Korg Legacy and the XV are not critical to my workflow, just items I had invested on I would like to keep. I did not research compatibility with Snow Leopard vwery thoroughly for those two, but I certainly did with the interface, which IS critical. Focusrite has released brand-new drivers that are supposed to be compatible with Snow Leopard, as they loudly trumpet on their web site.
And by and large, they do work - there's just that incessant noise. And THAT's an issue, and somehow I doubt it has to do with the interface as, like I mentioned, the noise only appears during the bootup sequence when, I assume, the Firewire drivers are loaded.
    Inputs?

On a local file transfer (computer to NAS or NAS to computer) my file transfer speed with the E1200 is way too slow. I would expect the Wireless N speed to be at least 54mbps (megabits per second), which would be equivalent to 9 MegaBytes per second.
