New Installation of PhotoShop Album Starter Edition 3.2

I previously installed Photoshop Album 2.0 and tagged many pictures, created several collections, and albums. My OS, Windows XP Home crashed; I then copied all my files from that hard drive to a new hard drive. Note I did not have the opportunity to backup my PS files.
When I installed Photoshop Album 3.2 it showed no photos at all. If possible, I don't want to recreate the collections, albums, and tags. How can I retrieve the photos that were saved in Photoshop Album before the crash?
The photo files are currently on my hard drive. Is there anyone who might have the solution to my problem on how to retrieve my collections???

Sorry for the confusion. There is an application called Photoshop Album.
The last version was version 2.0 and is no longer supported. That is
why I wanted to clarify. Adobe actually probably thought you were
talking about the same application. It doesn't get any better, this is
the only support you get with the free version... End-Users like
yourself. ;)
Back to your uninstall/reinstall. As I understand it then, you backed up
your personal files and then formatted the drive.
So at this point, you HAVE installed 3.2, but you do not see your
collections? I can only assume from this that you did not back up the
catalog in 2.0 because this was not possible at the time.
It is likely then that your tags/collections are no longer in tact. You
will need to retag all of the images again. I'm sorry about that.
Is it possible to find your catalog in the backup that your created?
This would obviously save you a LOT of trouble.

Transfer tags from Photoshop Album Starter Edition to other Photoshop products?

Here's a scenario for you, which might require some expert advise:
We have a database (on a network server) with ~6000 pictures which are extensively tagged using Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 installed on a client PC. The client PC had to be swapped out, so I installed a new PC with Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0, and moved the tag database (....\All Users\bla bla bla) from the old to the new PC. Now, when I start Photoshop Album Starter Edition, I can see that the software has found my images and tags, but the software displays a pop-up asking for an unlock-code, and I cannot get past this popup. When registering using the form in the popup, I receive an email from Adobe saying that the product is discontinued and cannot be used anymore. I have Googled like a maniac to find unlock codes, but when entering such codes in the unlock code window, the "unlock"-button stays disabled, so I am not able to start the software to access our image- and tags database.
So I wonder:
1) Is it possible to unlock the software and continue using it?
2) Does any other version/variant of Adobe Photoshop allow import of the tags database from Photoshop Album Starter Edition?

Tag transfer from Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 to new elements

Ok my wife has been using Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 for als long as I can remember and I have manage to transfer the tags and everything else once before but I dont think I can do it again. I am about to buy and new computer, I am prepared to buy the new elements but need to know if I update on my old computer will the tags remain, and then can I back up the catalog and transfer to the new computer

I have some thousand photos on my old PC using Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2.
How can I transfer them on a new PC (and a new more professional photoshop edition) without losing the tags?

If you still have your 3.2 psa catalog in your "My Catalogs" folder, try
downloading PSE5 from here:

PSE5 should be able to find your catalog and you can convert it into PSE5.
If that doesn't work, it may be because you weren't able to run "reconnect
all missing files" in PSA3.2 before attempting the conversion. If all your
photos were still connected, this should work. Then you can open PSE8 and
convert PSE5 into PSE8. Do a "reconnect all missing files" in PSE5 before
you do the conversion. Even though all my files were connected when I
converted PSA2 into PSE5, PSE5 had about 30 unconnected photos.

Convert catalog from Adobe Photoshop Album starter edition 3.0 to 3.2

I am using Adobe Photoshop Album starter edition 3.0 for years.
1.- I have upgraded to 3.2 now, but I don't know how to convert the catalog from the old version to the new version. Where is this documented?
2.- By default Adobe installs the catalog file on c:\documents and settings\all users\... - I have now installed adobe on another drive, D. But still the catalog is by default saved under c:\documents and settings\all users\... I need to have it on another location. How can I change the catalog file location?

Tried to use adobe photoshop album starter edition 3.0 today and tell me to register

It tells me to register and i will get an email with a 'unlock' code shortly.
I open the email, it says' adobe photoshop album starter edition is no longer avaiable and that i should go to their website and find something else appropriate! I JUST WANT MY PHOTOS OFF ADOBE PHOTOSHOP ALBUM STARTER EDITION that i have already got but it wont let me in at all! i have heaps of photos of my kids as babies and all house and family stuff! WTF! please help if you have a solution. ive had this program over 2 yrs and ALL OF A SUDDEN. out of the blue i cant access it and its tellin me to buy a new version! JUST WANT MY PHOTOS!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a common misconception that Starter Edition 'stores', or copies, your files into it. But the program does not move or copy files at all, rather it scans your system's My Pictures directory, and generates miniature versions of your pictures (called thumbnails) so that you can browse a 'flat' list of thumbnails of your photos, overcoming the inconvenience of having to go into separate folders in Windows Explorer to have to find files.The thumbnails, as well as any tags, and Albums that you create in Starter Edition are all stored in the Photoshop Album catalog file, separate from your pictures, and your pictures remain where you originally copied them to your computer.
If you use Photoshop Album to subsequently download files from a digital camera or scanner, the default location where the program will create those files would be in the My Pictures>Digital Camera Photos folder. But if you do NOT use Photoshop Album Starter edition to download files from your camera, then you will find that folder empty.
The thumbnails in the Starter Edition catalog will exist, even if you decide to move or delete the original photos that were added to the program. This will cause files in the Photoshop Album catalog to become 'disconnected' from the original photos. To reconnect the files, you can use the File>Reconnect Missing files command to see if the program can locate the original files in a new location, and once again re-link the catalog thumbnails to the files they once referenced.
Since Photoshop Album has been discontinued, I recommend that folks find an alternative solution. One alternative that will preserve most of what you've created in Starter Edition is the Photoshop Elements 8 trial. Install that, and it will automatically convert the Photoshop Album catalog to a current format, and the program will not time out, as Starter Edition did. If you want to purchase more Editing power, you can also choose to purchase the full program, but it's not required.
If you are like many who have come to this forum wondering how you can get to your photos, now that the program has become locked or expired, don't worry; your photos have never been moved by Photoshop Album; they remain wherever you intially put them, on your hard drive. To get to them, you can navigate your file system using Windows Explorer. They are typically in your My Documents>My Pictures folder. How to go from Photoshop Album Starter Edition to Photoshop Elements?

I have both Photoshop Album Starter Edition and Photoshop Elements on my computer. I didn't even know I had the PSA SE--I just assumed it was part of Photoshop Elements when it automatically opened after I stuck my photo disk in. So I started playing around with it and cataloged my new photos. Then I started Photoshop Elements, and none of the cataloging or tags that I had just entered in PSA SE were there. Is there any way to transfer the information from PSA SE to Photoshop Elements without having to retype everything?

You need to locate the PSA SE catalog file. It is called My Catalog.PSA and is Docs&Settings somewhere [in a hidden folder]. Once you have located it, in PSE organizer do File/Catalog/Open and navigate to the file you just located. It will be converted and everything should work OK.

Photoshop Album Started Edition question

I have Photoshop Elements 3.0.1 (including the Organizer) that I bought a few years ago. I just noticed there is a Photoshop Album starter edition 3.2 free download. Are the version numbers comparable so that I could update my Organizer with a more recent version for free? If so would I need special procedures to transfer all by photos into the newer version?

Beware that as time goes by, it will be less and less likely you'll be able to convert your PSA catalog to a later version of PSE. Already, a number of people have reported difficulty converting old catalogs to PSE 7, and some have had to resort to finding old copies of PSE 5, converting from 3 to 5, and then converting from 5 to 7. Unfortunately, Adobe provides no effective support for such issues and seems unconcerned about the numerous bugs reported in the last two years with the catalog conversion process.
Also, Vista only supports PSE 5.02 and later on Vista. Some people have reported being able to run earlier versions on Vista, and some have reported problems. With the upcoming Windows 7, it's even less likely that old versions of PSE/PSA are going to run on it.
Adobe generally releases new versions of PSE in the fall in preparation for the Christmas season.

Need help regarding Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0

When I got a new camera about 4 years ago, it came with this software. I loaded it up, but never used it. I normally just create a new folder on my desktop and click and drag the shots from the computer to the desktop. I do this by just opening up my computer, find the external drive and then click and drag.
Here is the problem though. My wife decided to download photos from my daughters b-day party. When she plugged in the card reader, this photo album starter automatically opened and started to drag the photos into the program.
Although this shouldn't be a problem it is a large issue. Since I never used the product, I never registered for it either. So when I just tried to register for it, it told me the program is no longer able to be registered for. And when I hit the register later button, it shuts down the program. Therefore, it will not allow me to grab the photos and save them to a file on my desktop.
Can anyone tell me a way around this, please?

Computer: Dell Inspiron 600M
Processor: 1300 Mhz, 1.3 GHz, 512 MB of RAM.
Operating system: Windows XP Home Edition.
No printer.
When I start Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2 to visit my photos that it holds hostage, I get the following popup message and a frozen cursor:
"Microsoft visual C++ Runtime Library
"Runtime Error!
"Program: ...ter Edition\3.2\Apps\Photoshop Album Starter Edition.exe
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information."
I have tried repairing Album Starter Edition 3.2(through Add/Remove Programs) and uninstalling Album Starter Edition 3.2 and installing a fresh download; however, the same thing continues to occur.
Any ideas?

After installing the program and running it, installing photos in over 18 collections and transfering photos to PSA from camera chips and third party software programs flawlessly for several months, I now get the above stated error messages (when trying to add photos to a new or exsisting collection from a chip or transferring from another Jpeg file/folder in another program on my computer):

Hi, I am new to this, being a great grandmother sometimes I am a bit slow. I have made a slideshow in the Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 and it works good. I had problems trying to figure out how to get it done step by step. I do not have a manual for it as I bought this Hard drive from another person. Does anyone know how I can print up the instructions either from the program ( which I didn't see anywhere ) or if I can get it off the internet?? Help on this would be appreciated.
