New Intel driver brings substantial performance improvements.

Has anyone else noticed that the new X.org Intel driver (2.16.0) is significantly better than what preceded? Before this most recent upgrade, I couldn't even turn on 3D Compiz effects without the framerate being compromised (unless I disabled Sync to VBlank, which I was not willing to do). Now it seems like everything is running at a silky smooth 60 fps, and the framerate only begins to falter when I have, for example, 80+ terminals opened at once. That's what I consider one hell of an improvement.

I don't know - is it X or xf86-video-intel driver but after last upgrade my tooltips are quite often for a short period time blank, especially in Chromium.
Here is my issue and picture:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=128235
Beside this everything is fine and normal.

  • CS2 install on a new H,Drive won't perform can you help?

    Hi Guys
    I have been happily using CS2 on a Power Mac with PPC chip running 10.4 Mac OS, until the hard drive gave in. Therefore new hard drive to kick life into the machine and update to 10.5.8.
    Loaded on CS2 no problem. Try launching indesign it bombs, Illustrator opens and then crashes.
    Product went through activation no problem and never had any issues with previous hard drive. I am going to upgrade to CS5 but waiting for new machine with Intel chip, but need to get this up and running in the meantime.
    Your help will be very much appreciated,
    Kindest
    Jag

    Might this cover your problem?

    BTW, if you act now you can save about $50 on the Design Premium upgrade: http://amzn.to/eVnwqg
    Hope that helps,

  • New nforce driver v2.03 performance compared

    So how did the new driver v2.03 (with detonator 41.09)compare against the older version 2.0 (with 40.72 detonator)?
    Any performance gains in 3DMarks, PCMarks, Sandra or UT3 Benchmarks??
    Any improvements in Audio quality/performance?
    Any new features in general?...
    State here your results 8o

    after doing memtest 3.0 (passed)during the boot I received 11 of the same errors, in event viewer I read
    An error was detected inDeviceHarddisk 0 during a paging operation
    then another error the deviceScsi
    videsm1 did not respond within the time period.
    I noticed that I had no mouse at first windows screen
    when I usually would with the original Ata drivers loaded???. Hmmm
    I did notice a slight gain in my HD speed program in the burst rate and gained only 50 pionts in 3dmarks 2001 SE
    I may use my backup to revert to the original drivers and if I still receive the error I will exchange my new device 0 hard drive Maxtor 120GB IDE ATA 133 8 MB cache.
    it did not over write my 40.72 drivers though????

  • Will new Ati Driver be released?

    Hello together,
    will there ever be new ati driver be released for the T500 (I’m running xp on it). The 8.5 one is nearly 9 months old and catalyst 9.3 which has recently been released should bring series performance improvements with it.
    A few years ago I remember that my 9200 had to be updated through unofficial “omega” drivers but this seems to be ages ago so I’m my Information is a little outdated. Might there be a similar way to update the 3650 “unofficially”?
    Kind Regards,
    Teal

    The special ATI switchable graphics driver is for Vista only. For XP just install the modified ATI driver with BIOS set to discrete graphics mode. Download the latest HD3650 driver (for stationary computers) from the AMD/ATI website and modify it with the Mobility Modder from here .
    T500: Vista 32, 2.8GHz, 4GB RAM, 15.4" 1680x1050, 500GB 7200rpm, ATI Radeon HD3650 + Intel 4500MHD. T42: XP, 1.7GHz, 2GB RAM, 14.1" 1024x768, 250GB PATA, ATI Radeon 7500.

    I have a MAC Pro from 2011 currently running MAC OS 10.9.5.  This weekend I cloned the MAC HD drive to a new SSD drive for improved performance.  The clone was completed successfully with no errors.  After the clone completed I successfully restarted my system using the SSD as the boot device.  I then successfully tested all of my products, including Photoshop CS6 and all of its plug-ins.  I successfully tested the key features that I frequently use.  Today while attempting to launch Photoshop CS6 a message is being displayed indicating that a scratch disk cannot be found.  All drives are available on the system via the Finder and Disk Utility.  I can access all drives including the old MAC HD which is no longer the boot device.  I've even attempted to launch Photoshop from the old device yet the same error persist.  Is there a way to review/edit/change Photoshop preferences if Photoshop doesn't launch?  I've even restarted my system several times to see if that would resolve the issues.  Does anyone have any recommendations for this issue?  Have you previously address this issue?
    Thank you Gregg Williams

  • Intel GM45 (x4500M) terrible 3d performance with intel driver and mesa

    I have following problem with my Lenovo SL500 laptop. I have installed new xorg-server 1.5, mesa 7.2, libgl 7.2 and intel driver 2.4 with libdrm 2.3.1 and intel-dri 7.2 (from testing repository) and generated xorg config. Everything went fine, and Xorg.log does not report any errors. When using 2d graphics everything is smooth and fast. Problem starts when I run glxgears. Performance is terrible, I get only about 60 fps. In addition I got the following error:
    [tomek@notebook ~]$ glxgears

    I'm puzzled because at www.phoronix.com they eneded up with good results with my video card (that is of course Intel x4500 as in topic )
    I would be grateful if someone gave me a tip how to improve performance of my graphics card.

    Apparently yes,
    According to the thread:
    To restore to the old behaviour, put this in your ~/.drirc:
    <driconf>
      <device screen="0" driver="i915">
        <application name="Default">
          <option name="vblank_mode" value="0" />
        </application>
      </device>
    </driconf>
    But I don't come back to the same perfs as before (tested with eternal lands).
    I noticed that in my /var/log/Xorg.0.log:
    (WW) intel(0): Register 0x61200 (PP_STATUS) changed from 0xc0000008 to 0xd0000009

    There seem to be some problem with mtrr
    I found this problem which seems related but I only have 2GB of memory

  • New Intel video driver won't install

    The new intel video driver won't install on my T410.  Anyone else having the same problem?  All I get is a Turbo Boost installation box.  The intel video driver version doesn't update.  I've tried manually installing via "update driver", but windows says that I already have the newest driver (even when i only have 8.15.10.2202).

    It could be a typo.

    that shows what you have to be the latest.
    After looking at it again it is a typo. It shows .2202 until you bring it up, then it shows .2253. I will let the admins know, ty for pointing it out.

  • Using my old drives from my PPC G5 in my new Intel 3.0  ?

    OK, so I just got my new Intel 3.0 and I simply took my old drives out of my Power PC G5 and put them in my new Intel and they sem to be working fine. Is t ok to do this?? (I hope at this point)
    Thanks~

    If you want to put a system on it and boot, you need to reformat - Disk Utility - Partition - Options... and change to GUID.
    Even if you don't need to boot, you probably want to anyway.
    What you don't want to do is use Migration Assistant to bring over PPC applications (just data, prefs and such).
    Throw in RAM (in sets of four) and speed away!

  • Acrobat XI Pro performance with new Intel Core M processor

    EDIT 21-Feb-2015: the issue seems to be with the power limitation of the new Intel Core M Broadwell processor. Enabling it in "full performance" mode significantly increases the performance. Nonetheless, in whichever power mode the computer is set, Microsoft Reader has no issue with any of the operations listed below.
    Hi,
    I'm running Acrobat XI Pro on Windows 8.1 64-bit with high-res display (3200x1800, Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro), which uses the new Intel Core M Broadwell processor.
    Zooming in and out and panning on the main application is very laggy, and full screen is EXTREMELY laggy. Also very noticeable delays in scrolling and page to page.
    The computer is brand new, out of the box, no viruses or other software dragging the system down. Also, if I open the same files on the Microsoft Reader app, there is no lag at all in doing these operations.
    I have found on the forum that some people have had lag and disabled Protected View and Enhanced Security. However, Protected View is not enabled on my installation, and disabling Enhanced Security has no effect.
    Right now I would say that the zoom/pan performance is worse even than on Reader on a 5 year old Windows XP machine I tried to compare to.
    Is there some other settings in Acrobat XI that could cause this issue?
    Thanks!
    P.S. I couldn't find a more appropriate group other than "Acrobat Installation & Update Issues" as I didn't find a troubleshooting group or anything like that, but can re-categorize.

  • Using External Boot Drive with New Intel Mac Mini

    I have a 1st Gen MacMini and use an external 7200 RPM Lacie drive as the system boot drive along with all the applications.
    If I were to purchase a new Intel Mac Mini, is it possible to use the current external drive as the system drive or is there some conversion steps that would be necessary ?
    Thank you.

    You can use the hardware, but will have to repartition and reinstall the OS from the disk shipped with the new Mac Mini.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303220
    If you create a disk image of the Lacie on your Mini, you can later use setup assistant to restore users and applications from that image.

  • I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program.

    I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and upgraded the memory and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program. I can see the hard drive in the disk utilities window however it wont let me do anything.
    It is a seagate 1TB SATA II drive however it is displaying it as a 7.3 TB.
    If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
    I have tried to erase and partition and get the same error message each time, 'Input/Output error'.
    I have tried starting the thing with the install disk which is Mac OS X (Tiger?) which came with the computer. No good.
    Anyone?

    Thats correct. I can see it in the list however when I attempt to erase it or partition it it's like it's not being found or recognised and it throws up the input/output error message. I am pretty sure that the sensor it attached correctly and it is a SATA drive. I can see all the infor regarding the drive when disk utility is open and it all looks good but I cant access it or do anything with it. It's taunting me!
    The install disk is in the drive and the install program runs right up to the point where you have to select the location for the install and there is just nothing in the box where you have to select the hard drive icon.
    I have my suspiscions about the drive but any help would be appreciated.

  • Can FCP5 and new Intel version of Avid MC exist on same boot drive?

    I had heard reports last fall that FCP 5 and Avid Media Composer & Avid Express Pro had compatibility issues if you put them on the same boot drive, so some were recommending a drive partition to separate the softwares to solve the problem.
    Being that the new Intel version of Avid MC has been out for a few weeks, I'm not sure anyone will be able to speak to this and whether it can live comfortably on the same boot drive as FCP 5. But perhaps you can chime in on what you have heard about the latest compatibility issues...FCP 5 vs. Avid MC & Avid Express Pro.
    If some progress has been made, perhaps I would not have to do a partition.
    Many thanks,
    John

    I'm running Avid MC 2.7 and FCP 5.1 on the same boot drive and have been doing so (with Avid Xpress before) for years with no problems. You have to keep your OS and Quicktime in check as Avid is always behind in their support. There may be the occasional Avid codec that doesn't show up due to a conflict but nothing has ever knocked the system down. But if you want 100% certainty then a separate boot drive isn't a bad idea. If you do this then read the Avid Mac cheatsheet for help with Avid and it's supported versions.

  • Fiery 250 driver and new Intel Mac

    I recently installed a new Intel iMac in my office and hooked it up to our Xerox printer via our Fiery 250 RIP. Bad news--the driver does not work with the Intel Mac. I had a Xerox tech come and try to troubleshoot it for a few hours, went under the hood to try and resolve the issue...nothing. Next step is he is going to have to contact Fiery. Anyone else have any experience with an Intel Mac and getting the driver to work on Fiery? Very inconvenient.

    i can give you a tip.
    download the ppd from the support page.
    install it via tcpip and select the ppd.
    it will work to print, but no special features then.

  • New Hard drive configuration to optimize performance

    Hi,
    I just want to make sure I have the ultimize hard drive setup for performance. I have a in bays:
    1) 640 (Caviar Black for applications)
    2) 1gb (Caviar Black for documents/media)
    3) 1gb (Caviar Black for FCP/Photoshop scratch disk)
    4) 1gb (Seagate- just back-up drive /2nd back-up for external 1gb lacie drive/time machine)
    Any feedback will be very helpful!

    If you are using 100GB projects, maybe an external raid option for scratch would serve you better, like an external enclosure of disks.
    If that's too expensive, utilize the 2 extra ODD sata ports.
    Either put an extra drive in the lower optical bay,

    OR grab the the esata extension from newertech combined with OWC mercury elite pro. Pretty affordable considering your needs.
