New iOS won't sync over wifi...

Hi! I updated my iPhone 4S with the new iOS. Now I cannot sync over wifi. I check the box on iTunes, but when I go to settings, it says I need to hook it up to iTunes and check the box... Anyone have a solution?! Thanks!

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Wireless sync option not available on Itunes 10.5.  After updating my iphone to IOS 5, the "sync over wifi" option is not being displayed in itunes.

hi, I managed to update both Itunes and my ios to the latest versions (10.5 and 5 respectively).  I'm unable to see the "Sync over wifi" option in itunes.  Can anyone help?

Maybe that's why I got lucky?  I have 10.7.2.  I have to tell you howeer that I did not check any check box in settings on the Notebook to enable Wifi sync, or in iTunes on the notebook.  I did have options when setting up the iPad and I selected sync with computer rather than back up to cloud.   Maybe that is another difference?  I feel feel fortunate that as I type this my iPad is syncing over wifi and you're all having trouble.
Just to confirm I have iTunes 10.5  MacOSX 10.7.2 and iOS5 installed on the iPad.  I'm going to dive in and do the phone now too.  I will report any troubles, or pay more careful attention when the iCloud settings and set up come on the screen.  Maybe I did something else I don't remember.

    Hello there, TempestBelcher.
It seems you've covered all the bases, but feel free to review the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant for connectivity here:

If you've followed all the instructions then there are a few good recommendations for what to do next in the last step.

  • ITunes - syncing over WiFi with iOS 7

Ever since upgrading two phones to iOS 7, iTunes is spamming the console with constant disconnects:
    [date] server iTunes[pid]: Entered:_AMMuxedDeviceDisconnected, mux-device:id
    [date] server iTunes[pid]: Entered:__thr_AMMuxedDeviceDisconnected, mux-device:id
    etc etc
This goes on for a while, about every 2 minutes, until iTunes hangs.
Originally, I'd set up these phones to sync over WiFi. After switching this off – only for the devices on iOS 7 – the above errors stop ocurring. Again, this doesn't happen with iOS 6 devices.
Running a Mac mini with Mac OS X 10.7.5.
Any ideas beyond switching off WiFi syncing  – which is really inconvenient...

    Thank you very much!

  • How do I get my iPhone to sync over wifi with my new hardrive?

I had to replace my hardrive in September. I plugged in my iPhone and it says it's waiting to find the name of my old hardrive before syncing over wifi with it. How do I change the name of the computer my iPhone is looking for to sync with? Or, if it would be better, how do I change the name of my new hardrive to make iPhone happy? (It's been so long I can't remember.)

You have to turn on Wi-Fi sync again. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386

  • (iOS 5)iTunes not giving the option to sync over wifi

I just upgraded to iOS 5, and in the sync menu in iTunes, in the "options" section on the "summary" tab, there is no check box for wifi sync. I am upgraded to iTunes 10.5. On my phone it says I have to wait till my computer is available on the network to sync over wifi. I know I somehow need to check that box in iTunes. Is this a glitch? How do I fix it?

I thought it was Leopard too as I'm having the same issues.  However a friend in NY just told me he has the same problem on Snow Leopard.  No wi-fi sync check box.
I re-installed iTunes, repaired permissions, restored the iPad etc etc, no help

  • Problems on ios 7 and a Ipod touch 5g with syncing over WiFi?

when i set my ipod to sync over WiFi it doesn't work and my songs get skipped over like they aren't actually there

    Do the not sync?
Do they sync but not play on the iPod?
Do the play in iTunes on the computer?
Does any media now sync and play to the iPod via wifi?

  • Can no longer sync over wifi after switching router to sitecom

I use iTunes on a Windows PC and have an iPad and an iPhone. I sync these since iOS 5 over wifi. It worked perfectly when I had a Linksys router. I have changed my router to a sitecom because the Linksys was failing. The problem is that syncing over wifi is no longer working.
Technical setup, the PC is connected via network cable, iTunes 10.5, both devices are iOS 5.0.1 and the devices are connected to power when I try to sync. If I sync via usb, it works and as I said, the only change is the router.
I can see the devices show up in iTunes, so that part works. I can click on them and that works, but if I try to sync or select the apps tab, I get a message box saying that the device cannot be found.
I have disabled all security features on the firewall just to make sure none of that gets in the way but nothing. I have nat enabled and can access my PC from the outside fine. If it helps with the research, everything that worked on my previous wifi router works on the new one (including all external stuff through nat) except for ftp. Can't get that working.
I hope you can provide the answer to the riddle.

Minor update:  I have multiple PC's in my office.  This same iPad and other apple devices properly work and sync with their connection to this other computer.  Both computers are running the 64bit iTunes and both have Windows 7 64bit OS running on both machines.  I tried deactivating firewalls and even deleted the iTunes with a fresh installation with no avail.
Something is keeping my Apple mobile devices (iPods, iPads) from being recognized within iTunes.  However, they all are properly recognized by my PC.

    Hi Terri571,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
See these steps for setting up Wi-Fi syncing between your iPhone and new computer:
    iOS: Syncing with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386
    Wi-Fi syncing
    Open iTunes
To set up Wi-Fi syncing, connect your iOS device to your computer with the included USB cable. Select your device under Devices on the left-hand side.
In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi".
Whenever the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes, and you can sync it. The iOS device will sync automatically when all of the following are true:
The iOS device is plugged in to power
iTunes is open on the computer
The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network
While the iOS device appears in the left-hand column of iTunes, you can select the content tabs and configure sync options.
Click Apply or Sync to sync the iOS device.
If the iOS device does not appear in the Devices section or you are unable to sync, please see this article for troubleshooting.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • Hi all, i can't sync over wifi between my iPhone 4 and Windows 7 64 bit, wifi sync works with the same phone and my Windows 8 machine, tried solutions from other threads with no luck, just thought i'd see if anyone else had any ideas, thanks.

Hi all, i can't sync over wifi between my iPhone 4 and Windows 7 64 bit, wifi sync works with the same phone and my Windows 8 machine so the problem seems confined to Windows 7. I've tried solutions from other threads -
Making sure everything is allowed through firewall
    Rebooting phone/laptop/router
    Disabling ipv6
Disabling all networks except the one curently on
    Re-installing iTunes
    Restoring iPhone
No luck with any of those unfortunately so i just thought i'd see if anyone else is still without wifi sync after trying those as well and if you ever found a fix, thanks.

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

  • Why is there no Sync over wifi option on devices page in itunes?

I have downloaded and installed both itunes 5 and ios 5.  However, I go to my iphone page, click summary, scroll all the way down the page, but can't find the option to sync over wifi.  What is happening here, and how can I get that option?

    pianotech wrote:
If that's true, that's ridiculous since it works on Windows 7. Someone running OSX 10.5.x can't run it but Windows can??
It even works on the 10yr old Windows XP.

  • Syncing over wifi

    Hi
I have a anew iphone 5.   When I connect to iTunes via a cable, the iphone immediately shows up.   i have checked that in itunes "Sync over wifi" is checked.  On the iphone iTunes wifi Syn shows my mac book pro.
If I diconnect the cable from the iPhone, the device immediately dissapears from iTunes.   If I go the the iphone and select Sync now, the iphone cannot find my macbook pro.
My iPad is working Ok as was my iphone 4s.
What have i forgotten to do or how do I get the wifi sync to work please?
    Thanks

I have the same problem with my iPad. Both are using ios6. Syncing was working Ok with ios5.
I agree, with iOS 5 I only had to attach my devces once to iTunes via cable to enable wifi sync. Once that was done they ( ipnone, ipad, ipod touch ) all showed up after launching iTunes when wifi was active on each devce. None of them had to be connected to power. Now it's hit and miss as to whether they show up. Sometimes they all do, sometimes only one of them. Sometimes none of them. When the one I want doesn't show up I find it helps to close iTunes, cut the device on, then launch iTunes again. It usually shows up then. Of course that negates some of the convenience of not needing to have the device right there when you're at your computer.

  • IPhone will not sync over wifi, iPod & iPad will

I just got the iPhone 5s, and I can't seem to sync over wifi. I can sync with my iPad and iPod over wifi, so I think my network isn't the problem. Everytime I plug my iPhone in to my MacBook, the sync over wifi option box is not ticked, I tick it and sync, but the computer never seems to see the iphone, and when I plug the iPhone in the next time, the option box for wifi sync is un-ticked.
I'm running a late 2008 MacBook (the last of the old black ones), with OSX 10.7.5, and iTunes 11.1.4. All of my i-devices are running iOS 7.0.4.
Any help with this would be very much appreciated, this issue has really been irking me.
