New ipad 2 home button is not responsive

I got a refurbished ipad 2 from apple store and when i open the ipad at home, i see the iPad 2 home button is not so responsive. I tried resetting but it didnt work.
Do i need to take it apple store or return back.

Exactly the same i got a replacement Ipad 2 weeks before my warranty ran out, after about a week of working perfect the home button starting playing up. I inserted the power cord into the bottom and pulled up on it slightly so it pushes up on the home button and it has worked perfect all week until last night,so i did it again and its fine again but for how long? If it does it again im going to return it again as you get 90 days warranty on the replacement,it must be a hardware issue.

Hi, my iPad home button stopped working. Can any one help me?

Try resetting your iPad.  Hold the home and on/off buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

  • Ipad app icons shaking but won't delete, home button does not work, power off switch does not work

I just got a new ipad air and have started to add apps to it.  I have added a couple of free apps which I have also deleted (moved to icloud).  I have also a couple of apps (free & purchased) which I have on it now.
    Now my problem:
I tried to remove another free app.  I press and hold the icon.  All app icons shake and display the 'x' for removing, but the 'x' for does not work on any of the icons.  Also, after this, the home button does not work as the icons keep shaking even while I am pressing the button.  And the power off switch on the side of the device does not work either.  If I close the smart cover and reopen it shows the home display and all the icons still shaking (instead of showing the passcode sign-in display).  Fortunately (well, fortune in the misfortune) if I press the home button and off switch a couple times each and close the smart cover and wait, the device awakes normally.  Well, normally until I try to remove any app.
So what do I need to do to fix this?
    Thanx
    Brian

Glad it worked. Anytime your iPad acts up, the reboot/reset is a common first thing to try. And it clears up many issues and glitches.

return it to have it checked for malfunction. Might be a transport defect . ( Although I never heard of such a severe case on brandnew Apple Hardware )

my wife's iPad home button has stopped working, in addition it will not charge either through usb or the wall.
She uses it to read novels mainly and has not mishandled it.

I realize that you said that the home button is not working, but try this anyway.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. See if the battery will show that it is charging after the iPad starts up.

  • Home button is not responding on iPAd even after restoring it

home button is not responding on iPAd even after restoring it?

    Fma26-
One thing you can try is to reset (reboot) the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart in a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
If the Apple logo never appears, you may have a broken button.  If your iPad is less than a year old and still in warranty. Apple should repair or replace it.  If it is convenient, show it to an Apple Store Genius.  Otherwise, look for a nearby Authorized Apple Repair Center.

  • My Ipad's home button is no response

    Hello everybody.
I brought my Ipad in US but I moved to another country now.
My Ipad have problem on the home button
how can I got the repair service?
is there anybody can tell me what can I do ?
    please help

I am having the same home button issues. I purchased my iPad2 online here in the states. it has been working beautifully until today. This is a real problem for me since I have my school books on the iPad. I've done what most of you have done, everything form a restore to synching several times. Once its on one app, it can function on the one app, but will not let me go to another app without the restore button being pushed in and then back to the home screen. I pick an app, it opens it, then the Home button will not let me move to other apps. I have a call into Apple to call me, If I find anything out, I'll post what I find out.
I can't imagine what I'm going to do if they have to take my iPad2 away to fix it, I don't have a hard copy of my Graduate text books, and I would have to pay twice for them. The books are on the Kindle App since iBooks didn't have these books.

  • I attempted to update to the latest IOS version.  Then it seemed to "Lock UP".  Now all i get on display is a graphic of the power cord with an arrow pointing to an iTunes icon.  Home button is not responding.

I attempted to update to latest version of IOS.  Now all I get on the display is a graphic of the power cord with an arrow pointing to an iTunes icon.  Ipad does not seem to power down or power up correctly.  Home button is not responding.

I am new to this, could you provide me with a little more detail on how to do this?  Thanks so much!

  • Ipad home button

Hello I'm Tommy and I'm having trouble with the home button on my iPad. I got this in March and it is almost brand new, so I don't think it is broken. But,for some reason my iPad's home button is not working. I've tried things such as recalibrating the iPad's home button like going on contacts and pressing thr sleep button until the red slide appears and holding the home button. Also, I tried sucking the air out from the home button. But both of them just worked just for few days. Also, I started to have this problem since I updated my iPad to iOS6. So, do you guys know how to fix this problem?
    Thank you :)

Mine is also not functioning properly. It started before I upgraded to 4.2, I thought maybe the update would fix it but it didn't. Sometimes I push the home button once and it inverts the screen as though I pushed it three times. Some times it doesnt respond at all. I spoke to a genius, his suggestion was it could be a software issue that COULD be remedied by them doing a reset that is more in depth than that that could be done at home. But he suggested before we do that I play with deleting the running apps that are in the multitasking tray as they are possibly taking up the RAM of the iPad. Hmm, really? Not. I am still having issues.

  • Home button does not wake up iPod Touch

    Hey all,
After the iPod screen turns off automatically after the preset idle time, pressing the "Home" button does not wake the device up from the first press; on some occasions it has to be pressed twice before the "Slide to unlock" screen appears.
This is intermittent and I can't pin down how to accurately reproduce the issue, but it seems to happen randomly. I have never experienced an issue where the "Home" button didn't work when pressed during normal operation, so I don't think it is a hardware issue with the button itself. Note that I had this issue before updating the device to 3.1.2 as well.
I have auto-lock set to 3 minutes, with Passcode Lock on.
The device is the 32GB model MC008C, updated with the latest 3.1.2 (7D11) OS.
    Cheers

sorry to reply and intrude here but i cannot for the love of god find he new thread button. (maybe a mod will move me please)
I recently restored my iPod touch and i didn't really watch the restore. I know the loading bar on ipod was nearly at end. Anyways, 10-15mins later i go to use my ipod and clicking the home button nothing displays.
I then try to turn on, yet nothing. So googling, i left the battery to completely drain if there is any.
I plug my ipod into my computer and nopthing happens, it does not wake up(turn on) or even charge. I have tried an Iphone wall charger, yet no response from my ipod touch as well.
So i kept googling and i found out about some DFU mode, there was lots of different combinations on the web, i tried them all, yet my ipod does not respon. No noises, notifications or anything in itunes(if itunes closed, does not open up!)
It has now been a good few days since it stopped working, and i cannot think is there anymore to do. It is still in warranty for a few months.
Only problem is, i do not think i;m entitled to phone support, and the nearest genius for me is hours away.
PS: my iPod touch was restored to version 3.2 (latest version if thats wrong <!-- )
    I have itunes 9.1
    Running windows 7 rc
I have tried my ipod also on the following:
My dual boot vista, another computer with vista and a Mac Pro.
Can anyone suggest anything or help me please?
    Thanks in advance,
    Malcom
