New iPad 3 locks up after taking a photo

1 week old new 3 is locking up after trying to take a photo with standard camera icon that comes with iPad? Any tips? Have turned it off a couple of times no difference. Have about ten photos in gallery but each time we take a photo now iPad locks up and doesn't retain last picture taken. Other photo apps same thing happens.

Thank you both for your swift replies. Had just turned back on again and backed up.  I couldn't find restore only reset. Thought I would then try camera before resetting and seemed to be operating again.
Thanks again

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'NSException'
I use @try block in the 'didFinishPickingImage' delegate method, but it won't goes into the exception handler, instead crashing directly. does anybody meet the same problem? how should I do to fix it?

    thanks Rogalon,
yes it did receive memory warning , and only call the method of super class like
    - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning {
[super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview
// Release anything that's not essential, such as cached data
after picking the photo, I save the image data to a temporary file and release the UIImagePickerController object. and I did check memory allocation with instruments, there is no memory leaks.
today I found that because of the UIWebView, the problem won't appear so frequently if I disable the UIWebView in the application. If I enable the UIWebView in the application, it will cause the problem above and sometimes exit with status 101. And, there are some memory leaks after enable UIWebView

What do you mean by copy?  I thought the i cloud did that automatically for you.  That's what I don't understand.

  • AFTER TAKING 60 PHOTOS ON MY T3I I SHUT IT OF AND PUT IT ASIDE. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ONI GOT A ERRO

AFTER TAKING 60 PHOTOS ON MY T31,I SHUT IT OF AND PUT IT ASIDE.WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT SAID IT COULD NOT READ THE CARD AND TO TRY  TAKING THE CARD OUT AND PUTTING IT BACK IN .THAT DIDNT WORK  AND DID NOT HAVE ANOTHER CARD YET SO I REFOMATTED IT CARD AND OF COURCE LOST ALL MY PHOTOS.I HAVE A 8 G CARD SO IT WASNT FULL.WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED?

    LLATTARULO,
There was likely corrupted data or incomplete data on the card.  There are a couple possible causes, but since it has been resolved, it is hard to speculate what caused it.  It may have been that the card had not been formatted in a long time or the camera had not finished writing the data from earlier to the card.
This error does not always mean that the images on the card are lost.  Formatting can fix this, but you may want to try downloading the images from the card directly using a card reader before you format the card if this happens again.  This will ensure you do not lose your images again.
It is also good practice to regularly format the card after you have downloaded all of the images from it.  This keeps the card fresh and the file system as free from corruption as possible, greatly reducing the chances of seeing this error again.

What happens when I purchase a new iPad? How Will my music, photos and information transfer? Does iCloud hold all of that, if so how do I access it?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
When you set up iCloud on a new device, you will get photos from Photo Stream (you will have to transfer them to the device), your contacts, calendars, notes, reminders and your iCloud mail address. All of this will be done automatically by iCloud when you log in iCloud on your device.
To transfer your purchased music, see > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 Also, if you have the music on your computer, just connect the iPad to the computer and sync it with iTunes to get your apps, movies, music...

  • HT1212 Brand-new IPad locked - What's the Pass Code???

    Hi -
I purchased an IPad 2 as a gift.  When I charged it up, it immediately asked for a Pass Code though one has never been set - at least by me.
I tried the typical 1234, 1111, 0000, and none worked.  The Pad is disabled and I need to know how to get in.
    Thank you,
    Melissa

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • IOS 5.0.1 on 3GS Crashing-Restarting sometimes after taking a photo and verry slow

    Hello,
My Iphone 3Gs is crashing and restarting sometimes after taking a picture. This is not always but verry often.
The Iphone is also verry slow since IOS 5 , a big fault from Apple is that they have not put a warning when update a 3GS to IOS 5 that is will be almost unusable.
When pressing on the small button on top of the iphone , it takes sometimes more than 10 seconds until the phone is locked. I hear the click when it is already in my pocket.
also the same when ending or stating a call it is so slow that sometime i am calling to somebody else in my list.
Is there a solution to put it back to the latest 4.3 version ?
    Thanks
    Best regards
    Didier

I had the same problem with my 3Gs - rebooting every two minutes or so, but only when plugged into the charger.  Eventually, I remembered that I had taken a couple of photos with the phone.
So, I deleted the photos from the phone and the problem vanished.
Must be something to do with incompatability with the older camera systems.

  • I have a new iPad air and all of my photos from the cloud are not showing up on my new iPad air. How do I get all my photos to show up?

Hi, I have a new iPad air, all of the photos from the cloud are not showing up. What do I need to do to get all my photos from the cloud onto my new iPad air? Thanks!!

Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • Love my new ipad.  But after upgrading to ios7 Safari became dodgy.  Now it is frozen in a white screen and nothing will free it.  Everything else on the ipad works fine. I deleted data, history, cookies, etc.  Same problem.  No change after power down.

Everything worked fine on my new ipad.  After I upgraded to ios7 it still worked fine even if it looked very different.  But Safari started acting strangely (it is starting the same thing on my iPhone 4s, too).  Finally, it froze in state with no URL, no keyboard will come up, I can get Safari to close and start, but not actually function.  I went into settings and deleted all the cookies, data, history, and so forth.  Same state.  I powered down the iPad and restarted.  Same state.  I tried a trick were I held down the button to bring up the power down stripe and then holding down the home button.  Same state.
What can I do?  Can I delete Safari and re-install it somehow?  Should I take it to an Apple store?

If powering down with hard reset (press and hold two buttons Power and home) will not give positive results follow that article

  • A "brand new" ipad mini 3 came with a photo

Received a "brand new" ipad mini 3 around a week ago.  However, it came with a photo in the Photos folder that was taken on November 23, 2014. The photo looks like a screenshot with the QR code along with the ipad model code and the serial number of the ipad. It also says 99% in the photo. Did anybody run into this?

Sounds almost like an internal-use image (given the info that was in the image) that was not deleted or mistakenly taken before packaging. Did you try and scan the QR code (with another device that has the capability) and see what the QR code comes up as? (if it's internal use, it may not come up with anything)
Regardless, that's the first I hear of it.

  • I got a new iPad how do I get my photos onto it from my Old iPad

I got the new iPad I currently have the iPad 1 before that I cannot figure out how to get my Photos from my old iPad to my new iPad please help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Personally I'd take them off the old iPad by connecting it to a computer and put them on the new one via iTunes.

  • New iPad (3) overheat after fully charge

My New iPad (iPad3) has been very hot especially along the left edge and so hot that the iPad cannot be hold on hand.  It has happened twice, both incidents after a fulls cycle charge by Kingsoft Battery Doctor.  Put the iPad into sleep mode did not help.  I ran the System Activity Minitor and the CPU was using only 4% and I was doing simple tasks like reading eBooks without using Cellular data or WiFi.  Power off was the only way to stop it getting hotter.  The New iPad didn't get so hot if it didn't start from full cycle charge.

You are using third-party software to control the battery charging.  I'm not sure why you think that's a good idea.  It reads as though the software is damaging the battery by attempting to overcharge it.  If you take your device to Apple for inspection, I'd bet that you'd be told that using the software violates your warranty.  Regardless, try removing the software, and see if your device works properly.
